OU vs. Ohio State: This is a huge game. I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you but…this.is.a.huge.game. This game will determine whether the Sooners have hopes of making it into a playoffs. But as you’d suspect, it could have big implications for Oklahoma’s recruiting both in terms of keeping current commits in the fold and greatly augment their chances of landing some additional difference makers.

I watched a little bit of the Ohio State vs. Tulsa game and plan on reviewing it more thoroughly this week. I’ll say that the thing that stood out immediately was how physical the cornerbacks are. Sooner wide receivers are going to have to work to get open against that secondary. – (Super K)

Jacob Phillips: This past weekend, Sooners hosted 2017 LB, Jacob Phillips. This was a return trip for Phillips who has visited Norman along with his family on a previous occasion.

As many of you know, Phillips has a current top 5 which includes: OU, Oregon, LSU, Alabama and Notre Dame.

Phillips’ previous visit to Norman went very well. This visit may have exceeded it. “I had hopes”, said Phillips about his expectations for the trip, “and they exceeded them”. Phillips was hosted by Sooners LB, Tay Evans.  On the high points of the trip, Phillips said, “high point would be how much time I got to spend with the coaches and hanging out with all of the players. They were really cool. The new stadium looked nice and the atmosphere was crazy…it’s just the whole package.”

Phillips visited Oregon last week. With the OU visit complete, Phillips will focus on his final three visits which will be to Notre Dame, Alabama and LSU. Those visits should happen in the coming weeks and a decision should come in October. Phillips says he would like to announce sometime in mid October.

Brandon had a chance to speak to a few sources and it sounds like Oklahoma and Alabama may have a bit of an edge over the others. I reached out to a source on the Alabama side and it doesn’t sound like the Crimson Tide are very high on Phillips and feel like they have a good shot with him. The Sooners seem to feel the same way.

In talking about his overall interest in the Sooners as a program, Phillips said, “I’ve developed a strong relationship with the staff. They have great tradition and a stable coaching staff. And the atmosphere…I could see myself live there.” – (Super K, Brandon)

K’Lavon Chaisson: I spoke with a coach over at North Shore HS where 2017 OLB/DE, K’Lavon Chaisson plays. As of last Friday he told me that the plan is for Chaisson to take an unofficial visit up to Norman this coming weekend. He did note that it’s assuming transportation is available. The coach also added, “no official visits till the post season” so Chaisson may still take an official to Oklahoma. In terms of who will get officials, coach said, “I think he has a good idea already. Just wants to focus on the season.”

The original plan was for Chaisson to take an official to Oklahoma. I asked the coach if that plan still remains intact, “I assume but I haven’t confirmed”.

If Chaisson does make it up this weekend then obviously getting a return trip as an official after his season is complete would put to things moving back in the right direction for the Sooners. – (Super K)

Marvin Wilson: Yesterday Marvin Wilson tweeted out…

https://twitter.com/RDMW6/status/775122041934450688

If you listened to Brandon’s podcast last week where he had Marvin on as a guest, Marvin mentioned that his plan was to make the Ohio State game an unofficial visit and then take an official to Oklahoma for Bedlam.

Now that he will make this week’s game an official visit, I asked a source close to Wilson if there is still a plan to return to Norman for the Bedlam game and was told, “Yes, still going”. – (Super K)

Elijah Conliffe: In last week’s “Town Hall”, we were asked if 2017 defensive tackle, Elijah Conliffe (Hampton, VA) plans on taking an official visit to Oklahoma. I checked in with Conliffe and he answered in the affirmative, “we (he and coach Thibodeaux) are planning it (the visit)”. So, no firm date just yet but it sounds like it’s in the works. – (Super K)

K’Jakyre Daley: Sooners have been in on a lot of versatile OLB/DE in the 2017 class, just as they were in 2016. When running a 3-4 it is good to have guys that are comfortable, and athletic enough, to put their hand in the ground or rush from a stand up position. Daley fits that bill perfectly.

TFB caught up with Daley, recently, and he let us know that he will be visiting OU for the Ohio State game on an official visit. Daley also said that his only visits left will be Wisconsin and Virginia Tech. After that he will sit down with family and decide on where he is committing to within the next month.

Daley has long been a guy that the Sooners are very high on and with a good showing by OU and a good visit, it should put Sooners in a good spot. – (Brandon)

Tramonda Moore: In 2016, OKC native, Tramonda Moore was one of the top offensive linemen in the country holding offers from Alabama, Georgia, OU, OSU, TCU and others. After committing to Oklahoma State and then missing out on qualifying, Moore went the JUCO route. Moore is currently at Independence Community College in Kansas.

Moore reached out to TFB and let us know that he plans on graduating and being part of the 2017 class. TFB has done some research and it is possible for Moore to do so, but he has his work cut out for him. Moore has been picking up offers from Oklahoma State, UCLA and Mississippi State since his arrival at the junior college.

Moore told TFB that he does speak with offensive line coach, Bill Bedenbaugh on Twitter almost every day. Moore will be at the Ohio State game, but cannot be an official visitor. As a non-qualifier there are apparently rules about speaking to D1 coaches in person. It will be interesting to see if OU does recruit him for 2017 class going forward, but all of that will hinge on Moore qualifying like he says he close to doing.

As TFB gets more (no pun intended) info on OU’s interest level we will let you know. – (Brandon)

Anthony Hines: Per Greg Powers of Scout.com, it sounds as though Anthony Hines may have changed his official visit plans for this weekend. His father told us recently that Anthony would visit OU for the Ohio State game. However, Powers reported earlier today that Hines will now visit Penn State.

We are working to confirm and see what prompted the sudden change. – (TFB)

Sooner Squad 17 stats:

Levi Draper – Draper had a big game with Sooners LB coach on hand to watch last Friday. Draper ended the game with 15 tackles on defense. He also returned and interception for a touchdown. Draper had a 61 yard touchdown reception on offense. Collinsville beat Coweta 33-0.

Grant Calcaterra – Calcaterra had another big game in a win over Alemany. Calcaterra had 8 receptions for 70 yards and 1 touchdown.

Justin Broiles – Broiles had the play of the game with an over the shoulder interception that he returned for a touchdown. Broiles also added 4 receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown.

Kenneth Murray – Murray did all he could to help Elkins win on Friday. Murray had 21 tackles, 3 pass breakups and 2 tackles for loss in a 14-17 loss.

Charleston Rambo – Rambo didn’t make many catches, but he didn’t need to as his Cedar Hill squad beat a Chris Robison-less Mesquite Horn 59-21. Rambo ended the game with 3 catches for 56 yards.

Chris Robison – As noted above, Robison missed another game with his shoulder injury. Robison informed me(Brandon) that he should be back at this Friday and able to play.

Jalen Reagor – Reagor made another amazing play this past weekend. He also added 5 receptions for 117 yards and 3 touchdowns. So far, Reagor is having video game like numbers for the 2016 season. – (Super K)

Isaiah Thomas- Thomas had 11 tackles and 2 sacks in a 28-7 victory over crosstown rival Tulsa Edison.

Addison Gumbs- Gumbs Stellar prep team lost last Friday, but Gumbs still had a big day. Gumbs in the game with one sack, a forced fumble and fumble recovery. He has continued to be mister big play for his team this season.

Creed Humphrey- Humphrey did what he does best, on Friday, and that is straight maul his opponents. Humphrey ended the game with 19 pancakes.

Jeremiah Hall- Hall continues to show why most feel he will be the next Trey Millard/ Demitri Flowers on a weekly basis. Hall had another well rounded game with 3 rushes for 41 yards and 6 receptions for 94 yard and 3 touchdowns.

Trey Sermon- Sermon had 3 rushing touchdowns and 150 yards this past weekend. Sermon continues to put up dominating performances for his Marietta, Georgia squad.

Ceedee Lamb- Lamb makes big play after big play for his Foster High School team. This week was no different with Lamb having 4 receptions for 75 yards and 1 touchdown. Lamb also added an 80 yard punt return for a touchdown.

  • Raath says:

Dang K, referencing the Buckeye’s physical DB’s, where’s the physicality of our secondary? Is it still the system or are the coaches just allowing the CB’s to decide how far to play off the line? I’ve seen virtually no jamming of the receivers this season. Very frustrating to see the athleticism of Cobb, Thomas, Quick etc. not being taken full advantage of.

    • Fear The Magic says:

Physicality should be a top priority. I don’t even get why it isnt. Our DBs should be flat out intimidating the opposition. This is OU Demmit!

    • Daryl says:

I watched a lot of the Tulsa game and I didn’t notice osu DB’s playing tons of press but they do get after WRs down the field and when they come to tackle they come hoping you feel it the whole game. I have not seen either from our DBs yet though Parker has had a few hits..

K’Jakyre Daley is nothing less than a stud who can play some football. He is a defensive magnet to whoever has the ball in their hands. I’d be exuberant if we plucked him out of the sunshine state. He jumps off the film lickety-split as an impact “football player” just like Joshua Jacobs astonished me last year.

  • Fear The Magic says:

    OU is a home underdog.
I hope the players feel disrespected.

  • Daryl says:

So after watching the the first two games who is the CB you want on the field against OSU?

IMO I think I would like to see Will Johnson move to CB and then rotate Doucet and Kelly at that Nickle spot. I just don’t trust what I have seen of Cobb so far. He is going to be really good just not there yet.

    • SamSooner says:

Cobb would be my choice. And considering what I think tOSU will want to do, what gave them success against Tulsa, I say start Kapri Doucet in the game: that will eliminate personnel change issues. Doucet flowed out to nickel and didn’t miss a beat.

    • soonerborn says:

I agree, Wilson to CB and Doucet to OLB/NB. With Gillamore, Romar and Walker on the Dline.

    • LBS says:

I would’ve agreed this past year, but Will is up 10-15 lbs over last year to be a better NB. I have nightmares of when they moved Julian Wilson back to CB from the NB at his weight and he was too slow. Cobb is fast, Quick has great instincts…I think those two on that side should hold it down.

  • SamSooner says:

“I’ll say that the thing that stood out immediately was how physical the cornerbacks are. Sooner wide receivers are going to have to work to get open against that secondary.”

Super K, with all due respect, Tulsa receivers were open; however, the QB didn’t make the correct read or the WRs just flat out dropped the ball. I’ll give them this: tOSU DBs were bringing the wood.

    • ohiosoonerdevildog says:

I agree. Evans had receivers open, he just made terrible decisions and throws.

      • SamSooner says:

I think tOSU will come in with some false confidence. I was really impressed with how Tulsa OL created some running lanes for their running back.

        • ohiosoonerdevildog says:

Yeah. Hubbard and McMillan are beasts. Tyquan Lewis is good too. Other than that their d is meh. If Tulsa even has a decent day from Evans they make that game really interesting. And Barrett is good but he is not a shifty runner or all that fast. If we contain him like we did Ward and force the suckeyes to pass we should be fine. Suckeye fans are extremely high on their rb and he’s good but nothing we’ve never seen. Samuel is a different story. He’s shifty and patient. The OU defense has to know where he is at all times. He’s by far their biggest weapon on offense.

          • SamSooner says:

I saw that out of Samuels, too. If our DL decides to bump chest with them, he’s going to squirt out. We need the DL to be disruptive and looking to make plays. If it were my choice, I’d give Bledsoe, Gallimore, and Que a lot of playing time. Even Obo is a beast to deal with. I don’t know why Mike Stoops is content to try and keep everything in front of him. When Tulsa blitzed, they got to Barrett.

          • ohiosoonerdevildog says:

Yeah. And we definitely need to watch Samuel sneaking out of the backfield into the flat on a play action. Suckeyes oline hasn’t been that impressive either. I definitely hope we play a more aggressive style of d, and not the rush 3 and sit back. The sucks kind of got punched in the mouth by Tulsa and weren’t handling it well until the 2 late pick 6s to end the half. And on the one pick 6 Evans had a dude wide open and sailed it for a pick, there wasn’t a db within 5 yards of him.

          • LBS says:

Yeah, I think we will bring more pressure. Greg Ward is a phenom at throwing on the run, Barrett is ok, but much better in the pocket than creating on a run from the games I’ve seen. Gonna have to get him flushed. He’s more like Deshaun Watson than Ward, luckily he’s not as fast but he’s a good north south runner. I hope the Evans boys are ready to hit him.

        • Jed says:

Yes! At least early in the game, Tulsa was flat having their way UP THE MIDDLE of Ohio State.
Maybe it was early season jitters/personnel rearrangement stuff. I don’t follow tOSU enough to know. But it was shocking to see that much available up the gut on an Urban coched team.

  • Chris White says:

I’ll be excited to see Riley let the Offense loose. We can finally play full speed and up tempo and open up the playbook more

    • SamSooner says:

Well, seems like Herman is taking his eyes off the road. Hmmm? Let’s see how it turns out for Houston this week.

That’s really flattering, in a way: seems like Meyer doesn’t believe knows what to do.

    • Chris White says:

Doesn’t make that much sense though because wouldn’t be better for Herman’s squad to have beat a good OU team? He needs us to win out just like we need them to win out.

    • Birddawg says:

We have a shot at redemption with this Ohio state game on so many levels.

      yes.

    • Jesse says:

In the words of Aaron Rodgers… R E L A X. We’re playing for our season these dawgs are going to come out mean and hungry. They’ll be ready to go.

      • bommer85 says:

Hope ur right…this team hasn’t shown me hunger or fire yet. Neither have the coaches, huge game for them too

    • ohiosoonerdevildog says:

I wouldn’t say confident. But if we can run the ball and don’t abandon the run game, I think we’ll be fine. If we can contain Barrett in the run game and always know where number 4 is, then we can slow down their offense. They definitely have some issues on both side’s of the ball that Tulsa exploited. If Tulsa’s qb was any good, Tulsa makes that game interesting last week.

      • SamSooner says:

        100%

      • bommer85 says:

All easier said than done my friend. Need to make big plays thats for sure

        • ohiosoonerdevildog says:

Sure it is. But it’s not as tosu doesn’t have issues either and is some team that has no holes.

          • bommer85 says:

All teams have holes…we have a few. Problem is bob n co need to exploit and not be exploited

          • ohiosoonerdevildog says:

Agreed thats why I’m not overly confident. Riley still has to prove unlike Clemson and Houston, he will stick to the run game even if it isn’t working. And MS has to show every 3rd and long he won’t rush 3 and just let the qb pick us apart. If those 2 can do those then I believe we pull of the upset. And if upperclassmen aren’t producing on the field Bob needs to bring in some of the younger, hungrier guys. This is all my opinion though.

          • SamSooner says:

I agree again: the defense gets a third and long, just what you want, and MS pulls out the umbrella. Watch any NFL defense and it will make you cringe at the pressure they bring on third downs.

          • ohiosoonerdevildog says:

Yeah I understand there is risks in blitzing. But at least mix it up. Keep Barrett uncomfortable and guessing. Release the athletes we have on the line and at lb and let them go make a play.

          • SamSooner says:

I agree, Devil Dog. Barrett has been throwing INTs. You don’t want that from your senior QB.

    • SamSooner says:

Beatable is alway debatable. Is tOSU this juggernaut OU should fear? Nah!

      • bommer85 says:

They r pretty damn good. If this team isnt ready it could look like Baylor 2014

        • SamSooner says:

What have you seen from tOSU’s offense that makes you think they are as explosive as Baylor?

          • bommer85 says:

Athletes. Playmakers and a netter coach. Plus our secondary and coaching have been suspect so far. Its as much about our shortcomings as tosu

          • SamSooner says:

You did not answer the question. What have you seen from tOSU’s offense that make you think they are as explosive as Baylor.

Teacher’s note: please give examples. Your previous response is vague and needs facts to support your position, not speculation.

          • OUn8v says:

85…you say it’s as much about our shortcomings. I have to say that I believe it being the 3rd game and being the dog at home and how important of a game it is, our team will execute properly. That’s all I ask for. The coaches don’t play. Once the ball is snapped, if our team executes properly, I believe we have a great chance of winning. I simply worry a little bit, as I always do, about what MStoops will bring to the game. I hope it’s like what he brought to the Sugar bowl a few years ago.

          • Dick Bump says:

I agree. OU has rarely played well in the first game. That is not an accurate indicator, IMO.

          • bommer85 says:

Ur focusing on the wrong part of it. Plz focus… I didnt say tosu looks like baylors offense i said it could look like baylor 2014. I.E: we got our a $$ kicked at home

Teachers note: read thouroghly and double check ur answers. Ur previous response shows lack of reading comprehension

        • Rob says:

Umm, did you watch them play Tulsa? They did not dominate in the trenches like I thought they would. Guess what, OU also has athletes and playmakers. So, we gonna win.

          • bommer85 says:

did u watch us play tulsa? when the last time we dominated trenches against top tier competition? sure ou has playmakers, lets see if they are on the field and if they make those plays. hope we win too but it won’t come easy

    • Ura Mazin says:

      It’s time for some confidence.
It’s time to play focused as a unit.
It’s time to play up to OUr potential.
      and
It’s time to bring Mr. Meyer down a couple of notches.

  • Sooner Ray says:

    Very nice OP.

  • dahldennsull says:

Sorry, I just have to disagree on Tramonda Moore. I think your source may need to double check. When you are not a qualifier out of HS, and go to JUCO you have to graduate with your associates degree from the JUCO before going to D1 again. Now, it’s very rare but maybe some kids can do this in one year, but I’m going to go out on a strong limb that someone who couldn’t qualify out of HS is unlikely to be the one that breaks the mold and does it. The guys who go D1 after a year were qualifiers out of HS, and chose to go to JUCO, as opposed to having to go there. It’s the same song, different verse, Moore is the one supplying this misinformation that he was eligible during HS, and it proved false. Now he again is the one reaching out and telling people he can be in 2017, and I am willing to bet it isn’t the case again. Kid needs to focus on school work and prepping himself for 2018, instead of this constant denial that he has always been eligible.

    • Michael says:

“A non-qualifier who attends a JUCO and then plans to transfer to a Division I or II program is required to graduate from the JUCO and/or will be required to attend the JUCO for at least three semesters and will be required to have at least six-semester hours of English and four semester-hours of math.”

Just something pulled off the internet. But who knows, rules could have changed

      • Jed says:

So it would appear that while technically possible, it’s unlikely that Moore would be able to pull this off.
        Got it.
I’ll be happy if he proves us wrong.

        • Michael says:

Thats the way i see it. Unless he cleared a bunch of hours this summer or something

        • SoonerFan92 says:

12 transferable hours is very easy for someone to pull off in a semester. Especially at a JUCO.

          • Jed says:

And I hope he has gotten with it. Even if he never plays a down of football, I hope the light went on and he’s gotten with it.

          • SoonerFan92 says:

I do, too. I played baseball in college and averaged 15-16 credit hours a semester. The key to graduating in 4 years is to not be jack around the whole semester. Wait until the weekends to let loose.

          • SamSooner says:

Twelve hours is not a full load. I believe 15 hours is a full load, correct?

          • Bob Edwards says:

Twelve is usually considered full time for scholarship purposes, but you won’t graduate on time.

          • SamSooner says:

            Thanks, Bob!

            How are you today, sir?

          • Bob Edwards says:

Doing well Sam. Had a busy weekend cleaning up the old house trying to get it ready to sell. Then yesterday the kids came over to celebrate my birthday had five of the kids, four grand kids, a son in law, a probably future daughter in law, and my mom all in our apartment. Glad to get back to work so I can rest. How about you.

          • SamSooner says:

“Glad to get back to work so I can rest.” That’s classic, Bob.

All good. I’m in a bit of a transition, right now. But it all good. I’m loving life and I’m blessed.

          • Michael says:

Yes. Below I stated that I had taken 15-16 hours a semester. It’s much easier to graduate in 4 years if you play sports than some people tend to think.

      • Bob Edwards says:

        There are other options. http://www.athleticscholarships.net/ncaa-transfer-rules.htm

If you are certified as a “final academic qualifier” you can transfer after one semester if you have 12 transferable hours and a 2.0 GPA.

        • ouwooferman says:

          or take 30 online classes.

        • Michael says:

I thought that there were circumstances that allowed something like this. I was a JUCO athlete and remember a couple of our kids going D1 after only one year, but certainly did not remember the details.

          • Bob Edwards says:

Sounds like if he were on the edge to qualify out of HS and either took a summer course or took the test again he might have become eligible but too late to get on somewhere. In that case he would just need a semester.

          • Michael says:

***and these were kids I understood to not be qualifiers out of high school**

          • Bob Edwards says:

Yeah, I’ve see a bunch of kids over the years transfer after one season. Not that many kids who can’t make it out of HS get a JUCO degree in a year. Like everything else the NCAA does, there is the rule and then the fifteen exceptions that allow you do do something different if you can stitch the exceptions together in just the right way.

          • Michael says:

Ha yes, well said. I know Will Johnson was just one year at JUCO. But again, who knows the circumstances there.

    • Sooner Jay says:

The O lineman Ben Powers, I believe has 4 yes to play 3 for us and he came from Juco this last February.

    • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Exactly why we will wear ours. Ppl who are against them need to get on board or get left behind because they are bad ass and I can’t wait till we add a black uniform with Crimson lettering/numbers.

      • SoonerMagic76 says:

Was your first sentence a “I know that OU is wearing alternates” or a “I hope that OU does wear alternates”?

        • Jordan says:

Bob said in his press conference we would not wear ours… Who knows though

          • SoonerFan92 says:

I thought he usually left that up to the team captains?

          • Jordan says:

Someone asked him during the press conference if he thought they would wear them and he said no. He could easily change his mind, or the players could convince him to wear them.

          • SoonerFan92 says:

Yeah it may be that he gives them the option to decide if they want to wear them on certain weeks that he feels they should.

        • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Well given the number of recruits, the striping of the stadium, the fact Ohio state is wearing theirs was why I think it’s an easy decision but sounds like from Jordan’s comment that we won’t wear them so my thoughts are irrelevant 🙂

      • J.r. Kamm says:

Black uniforms with crimson lettering/numbers ain’t happening.

        • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Just like we would never get any alternates? Lol. We’ll have them sooner rather than later 🙂

          • J.r. Kamm says:

Who said we’d never wear alternates?
I’d bet my left nut we’ll never see crimson on black though.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I couldn’t possibly tell you how many Sooner fans I spoke to personally or even interacted with online that said we would never have alternates because we’re too traditional, ect, ect. I’m not going to bet my nad, but I’ll take you up on a gentlemens bet if that will suffice? Lol.

          • SamSooner says:

            Nad?

          • ouwooferman says:

            gonad?

          • SamSooner says:

            Okay. Gotcha!

Gonads, as in mountain oysters, right?

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Ding, ding, ding we have a winner!

          • SamSooner says:

            Tell’m what he’s won, Bob!!!

          • SoonerFan92 says:

I think that I read on this site right before the alternates were unveiled that a black version was in the works, too. Not saying that it will happen, but it was at least tossed in the hat. Might want to take the gentlemen’s bet instead of possibly giving up a nard. Lol

          • J.r. Kamm says:

It’s like those that said the white helmet with the schooner was coming soon. Cool idea but I’ll believe it when I see it.

I ain’t worried about the nut — they shoot blanks anyway. 🙂

      • kt-raida says:

You’re right, people hollering about tradition aren’t realizing you have to stay fresh and innovative. Wearing these twice a year won’t hurt or tradition. And for people that say “if kids are going to schools because of flashy uniforms we don’t need em.” Well don’t complain when the Baylors out recruit us.

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Baylor has never out recruited us. But I am all for a black uniform for the road.

          • kt-raida says:

I didn’t mean literally I meant teams with less history ex:Clemson, Florida State, and Baylor did have a higher rated class last year.

  • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

So was Ohio states defense being vanilla last week or wha? We all know Greg Schiano has been game planning for us for months. Should be interesting to see how Riley handles play calling in another big game. I need a nice mix of run plays rather than pulling out guard and tackle every run play. I trust Baker and the receivers. For some reason we always wonder why big Andrews isn’t more of a focal point. Something tells me that’s going to end on Saturday.

    • SamSooner says:

      What’s up, Vegas?

Vanilla or not, Tulsa’s OL was taking it to their DL in the first half. There wasn’t any scheming; it was straight man on man.

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

But we don’t like to put hat on hat and let our hogs go to work…. That’s what I’m getting at lol. I need a good mix of run plays rather than the same crap.

      • ouwooferman says:

Tulsa’s QB did a better job of beating Tulsa than tOSU did. (until the rains came and stopped play for while. Then tOSU put them away.

    • Daryl says:

I know that against houston I saw several plays that he was douoble covered. I think that osu will do the same and see if Baker is willing to throw else where. Baker has to put the ball in other guys hands in order to loosen the coverage on Andrews and at times Westbrook. The other thing that will help with this is Mixon and Perine be able to get 4 per run. Keep us in 3rd and short and I like our chances to move the ball (captain obvious).

  • Boomerman73 says:

Hey Guys, dont post much but this may have been asked but what us up with Lampkin and Mcginnis. Are they just not ready? Still learning. Had high hopes for both.

    • LandThieve3 says:

From what I’ve kept up with, it seems McGinnis might not ever see a starting role. Beal and Doucet have passed him up at ILB. Lampkin had a knee injury a while back and I remember reports saying he might not be confident in his knee yet which led to hesitant play. I would think Lampkin needs another offseason

      • Boomerman73 says:

Thank you for the reply. Me and my brother were at game and wondering about these two. Had High hopes..

  • Ura Mazin says:

It seems like it’s time to stop mentioning Hines. If he wants to move on, let him. Tell him to enjoy the Penn State game.

  • Ura Mazin says:

I have a strong feeling that we are going to see the Bob Stoops that we have known and loved on Saturday. It’s hard to imagine that we will see conservative play on either side of the ball. OU is going to bring it’s best and every Sooner player and coach is going to be fired up for this game. It can’t be any other way.

  • Ibtwan says:

I hope we pull out some trick plays and keep Ohio State thinking.

    • SamSooner says:

A trick play would be nice. A trick play would be even better after we’ve beaten them down, sapped their will, by running right at them.

      • ouwooferman says:

yes they usually work better when you have had success with other plays, thus setting it up.

        • SamSooner says:

My plan is to come out to Norman and enjoy the experience with Max. I want a win but I want to take full advantage of attending an OU game in Norman.

      • TSFFKAG says:

tOSU won’t run out of gas. Just like Alabama, you have to beat them till the clock says 00.00

    • jimintexas says:

A trick play that works is preferable

  • Sooners4Life27 says:

I really hope to see the wildcat again with joe and samaje because you know they are going to run theirs

    • SamSooner says:

They weren’t able to run the ball until they went to the wildcat formation. Curtis Samuels ran the ball every time.

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Is it just me or does Barrett only throw slants and 9 routes up the seam? Lol

        • SamSooner says:

At the spring game, they targeted the TEs, around the hash-marks, about 5-10 yards deep. I don’t believe they have the WRs who have a lot of experience. They used Barrett in the run game more than I thought they would.

Now, to me, that’s telling. There’s no way I would use my QB to move the ball against Tulsa, especially with OU coming up.

    • Shelby is a Patriot says:

Feel bad for RG3. Thought he would do well this season, even though the Browns look terrible.

  • Jax Watts says:

    Dear Football High Spirit,
Please, bless OUr team with four quarters of bone-crushing, slobber knocking Sooner football on Saturday. May the Sooners win by 35+ and crush the hopes and dreams of the buckeyes. If you fulfill this small request, I will eat my veggies, help old ladies across the street, and only buy Made in the USA hooch to celebrate the Sooner Victory.

    Thank you

  • Jordan says:

To spur on some conversation, name 3 things that must happen in order for OU to win on Saturday.
    For me:
    1. Force at least 2 turnovers
    2. Rush for at least 175 yards
    3. Minimum of 3 sacks

    • TSFFKAG says:

      1. Win the third down plays.
      2. No hand tackling.
      3. Win Field position battle.

    • Dustin says:

      1. Score more points than they do.
      End of list.

    • ouwooferman says:

      WIn the TO,
      Special teams
      No or few Penalties
      run the ball with success.

    • DCinAZ says:

      1. Not get out-coached.

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

      1. Stop their run game, or, at least, get them “off schedule” so that they are forced to pass more.

2a. OU needs to control the clock by rushing.
2b. Score early and make tOSU chase OU.

      3. When tOSU passes OU needs to “affect” the QB. We don’t need to sack Barrett, just affect him.

    • SoonerfanTU says:

OU is good enough to win without any one of these things hitting. That said:

      1. Avoid big plays on defense.
      2. Make big plays on offense.
      3. Win turnover/penalty battle.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

      1. Be smart and aggressive
      2. Tackle Barrett when they get a chance
      3. Hit them in the mouth every single play

    • Kevin Burger says:

      1) Establish the run game.
      2) Control Samuel.
      3) No stupid penalties.

    • Mizuno45 says:

      1. Score more points than Ohio State
      2. Score more points than Ohio State
      3. Lastly, score more points than Ohio State

      • Bob Edwards says:

Most important stat in all of football, point differential. Look at past seasons and you will see that the NC winner is usually the team with the most games with a positive point differential. Occasionally #2 will slip in, but it’s invariably #1 or #2.

    • Michael says:

      1. No missed assignments on D/No busts from the secondary
      2. No stupid penalties
      3. No busts from special teams
      4. Take care of the ball
      5. Dont panic (tOSU is going to do some good things at times)
      6. Battle to the very end!

    • End You says:

      1. Don’t coach scared
      2. Don’t play scared
      3. Let the dog out, and get physical

  • TSFFKAG says:

I’m concerned that tOSU will use our speed against us. Won’t they use misdirection “trick plays” to catch OU over pursuing? I hope we are “assignment sound”.

    • Matt says:

in my understanding, that’s a tactic you use when the other team is faster than you. They have the speed to match the Sooner defense. I think they line up and play smashmouth with the Sooners.

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Then we will shut them down.

        • Matt says:

rush D? I agree after the first 2 games. Pass D? I think the game is won or lost with the Sooners pass defense.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Yes, agree. But smash mouth traditionally refers to the running game. I think MS scheme will be much like Houston with a little more emphasis on the RB running the ball rather than a focus on Barrett. When they pass we need pressure on the QB…MS likes to play keep everything in front of you and tackle well…but this gives a cushion and allows short completions and ball movement. Can’t happen. Need to challenge pass plays.

    • Jed says:

Count on it. I was encouraged by our performance against Houston and Ward in this regard. We had, at least most of the time, excellent contain. Discipline will tell in this game.

  • Matt says:

I like the look of Beal. He’s small but he looks like he can really pop some pads.

  • Matt says:

what are you guys thinking about Deberry after finally seeing him on the field? Sadly we still didn’t see AMG

    • MikeyBoom says:

I think finally watching him he is OVERRATED. He seems super slow and I seen more positive flashes from Kelly. Sucks because I was one of the main people hyped up about Deberry. Beal looks really nice. I am not a scout, expert or anything so take my comment with a grain of salt. Lol Ricky may be the next great but I just cant see it

  • ouwooferman says:

So Carrie Underwood was hot in the new Sunday Night Football video lead in, BUT the song was suckie. Bring back the old Joan Jett song.

  • ouwooferman says:

    Jeremy Crabtree
    RecruitingNation

If No. 14 Oklahoma’s game against No. 3 Ohio State wasn’t already big enough, the Sooners hope to turn Saturday’s battle in Norman into one of their biggest recruiting weekends in years. OU is scheduled to host to more than 15 official visitors from all over the country and that number could climb to 20 by the weekend. The showcase visitors are five-star defensive tackle Marvin Wilson out of Houston Episcopal and fifth-ranked defensive tackle Greg Rogers of Las Vegas Arbor View, but Texas cornerback commit Kobe Boyce is another prospect to keep an eye on.

  • Ibtwan says:

One thing that maybe an advantage is that this is tOSU,s first away game with a young team. Our fans will turn up the volume.

  • SoonerFan92 says:

Man, I hadn’t realized how much Gallimore and Kelly played this weekend. Neville was in there in the 1st quarter. I didn’t notice him until late in the 2nd.

    • Bob Edwards says:

Wouldn’t mind seeing Gallimore move ahead of the guys who got suspended. Seems like some of our old dogs need some of the young pups nipping at their heels. Help them understand that if they want to be pack leader they have to earn it.

      • Mizuno45 says:

        Where was Lampkin?

        • Bob Edwards says:

Someone on here said he had an injury earlier in the year and has been kind of tentative coming back from it. That’s all I’ve heard.

        • TSFFKAG says:

He doesn’t feel 100%. Since his injury/surgery, it has occurred to him that he’s not invincible, he’s flesh and blood. I hope he recovers!

      • SoonerFan92 says:

Neither would I. I seemed to play at a much higher level when I was competing for a starting spot as a Soph on the Dline than I thought was possible for me. Crazy how that always works out.

      • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Gallimore has tasted blood. The only thing that will stop the monster is his own satisfaction.

  • KJ1123 says:

Baker has had some wide open misses this year. Gotta get that dialed in. A few of them have been for big yards too.

    • SoonerinLondon says:

Tru dat. A couple against ULM, including the overthrow of Mixon.

Last year he was really dialed in. I think working with so many receivers, in so many combinations, has him struggling to get the timing down.

      • KJ1123 says:

I was thinking that too. I was also thinking last year he got spoiled with how Shep went after balls. Just like he did yesterday against the Giants. Some of the younger receiver are looking for the ball to fall in their hands. You gotta go get it son!

        • TSFFKAG says:

I saw Shep yesterday. Wow! I wish the Sooners could show the WR corps Sheps TD grab. And I do mean grab.

      • Michael says:

Mixon was gassed on that route he ran though. You could see he stalled a half second after the snap. Still, need to make a better throw.

    • TSFFKAG says:

Too much whip and not enough nay-nay?

  • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Re: Marvin Wilson. What measure of relevance is required to have a tech-savvy teenager make me a graphic? Of course, if I’m honest, I can’t really think of anything I do during my day-to-day that is of social media merit. Maybe instead of an action shot and OU ephemera, I could get an edit of my church’s directory photo with a slick Sriracha rooster backdrop. I’d totally own that.
Oh. And Art Briles is Urban Meyer’s failed disciple. Destroy that man, Bob.

  • MikeyBoom says:

Idk why but I feel like our boys will come out fired up and whoop Ohio State. My gut tells me they aren’t going to lose again this year. I am drinking the OU koolaid so don’t roast me. I think our offense will score 35+ and the defense will have a coming out party. My prediction is
    OU wins 38-21. BOOMER SOONER

    • Matt says:

just told Jordan on twitter..at this point with Bob’s track record in these games, I’ve gotta think the Sooners win by 10 or lose by at least 10. I can’t see this being a field goal game like a lot of people think.

    • cush creekmont says:

Keep drinkin’ that OU crimson-koolaid! I like your numbers Mikey.

    • Matt says:

Man I felt the same way about the UH game, I feel like I’ve lost a lot of confidence in this squad after that game. I feel very uneasy about picking them to win this game.

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Yeah me too. I didn’t realize how much Sanchez meant. He hurt himself and us by leaving. But I just always think we’ll win because I am an OU FANATIC.

  • Matt says:

With the way the rush D has played through 2 games including against a similar scheme in UH, does the outcome of this game fall on the pass defense?

    • MikeyBoom says:

Yes. Primarily the Corner opposite of Jordan Thomas. Also, our OL play will be huge. I hope they stick with the Evans at RT and Samia at RG combo. Like they say. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. I love that combo but feel that Alvarez is a HUGE weak point.

  • KJ1123 says:

Herbie doesnt want to see us play his alma mater in person.

  • Matt says:

checking out elevenwarriors.com Those guys are disrespecting Bob and seem pretty confident they win by more than 3. They think they’ll be able to run the ball and play defense pretty well. The Sooners gotta show up big time.

  • KJ1123 says:

I didnt know JT Barrett was born in Lawton.

  • Carl Carter says:

Does anybody know where I can find the full game from Saturday?

  • ALar03 says:

    https://twitter.com/NDTScouting/status/775425246648303616

Don’t know how credible the scouts are.. But geez the write-up from the Houston game didn’t sound good, a lot of it is just effort the one thing you don’t have to work for

    • BigJoeBrown says:

Yeah, didn’t sound to well for the some of the players. Mixon, Johnson, Ahmad Thomas and Westbrook got high remarks but J Evans and Walker were lazy, Obo and Orlando Brown were (ehhh) He thought Oliver and Mixon were the best out on the field.

    • CrimsonGhost says:

This is the week to focus on attention to detail, so that come game time on Saturday, OUr players can just ball out. Boomer Sooner!!!

  • Mr. Jones says:

May have already covered this, but which recruits should we be worried about losing if Ohio St wins Saturday?

  • SBevan says:

Add another visitor to the list for the upcoming weekend. My son Ryne Bevan! He is being recruited in track & field. I’m a life long Sooner fan now living in Georgia and thrilled that Oklahoma is recruiting him. Of course we chose this weekend for his official! BOOMER!

    OU-ULM highlights by HolaKyle

  • bommer85 says:

So I watched the ULM game finally. some thoughts to stir up discussion etc.

Mixon is a stud, just imagine what he could do if teams were not keying on the run and we had one of our stud OL’s from the past, dangerous…(and ya he’s probably gone to the NFL this year)

IMO starting line should be Overton in the middle and then gallimore and walker with the rest as rotation guys

Mayfield missing on throws seems pretty prevalent already this year. I don’t remember it being a big issue last year but it could cost us against good teams

On another note, do we have a big time WR threat? Miller looks like he could be the guy. Mead needs to be on the bench and I just don’t get why baxter starts, no speed. time for Mikel jones

Esco is right about Seibert and the fatigue factor, it will bite us eventually

Alvarez is the worst OL by far i can’t tell if he makes the wrong calls to his OL sometimes but it looks like it. don’t know how we can’t find one better OL than him(Creed Humphrey could start at C from day 1 possibly)

Beal plays with fire and passion. and I love it, doesn’t look big but he’s out there giving it 100.

Pass D is YIKES. yes I’m talking first string

Having said that the Future on defense looks good. if the young guys keep learning and getting better we really could have a great D for the next couple years

    Have at it(me) Gents

    • KJ1123 says:

Yikes is right. If we send blitzes we open up man to man I sure as heck am not confident about that. I said on Sat Im ok with giving some cushion but we need absolutely sure tackling more than anything. Let them dink and dunk, just dont whiff on a tackle and get caught giving up a huge gain.

      • bommer85 says:

Its scary this year…tOSU, tech, Tcu, texas, baylor….im not saying we lose all or any of those games but their offensive coordinators have to be salivating right now

        • TSFFKAG says:

Seems to me that OU doesn’t start hitting on all cylinders until October.

        • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Dude relax. We returned 4 of 5 from last season. We got absolutely stunned the first week by a QB who couldn’t throw to save his life last year and then week 2 our starters played fine and it wasn’t until the backups game in did we get torched.

          • bommer85 says:

Haha love your crimson shades vegas. Im relaxed, but i gurantee Mike stoops n co are not…i love OU but im keeping it real as someone who knows football

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

where in my comment was I incorrect? I know football as well which is why I’m well aware that the days of holding teams to virtually nothing is completely un realistic. Everyone’s concern with GW was his legs not his arm. Last week we benefited from them dropping a few, but what team doesn’t benefit at least a couple times a game? At this point Stoops ( both ) know what every team with a pulse will try to do to us, but then again what team isn’t trying to connect deep on pass plays when given the opportunity?

          • bommer85 says:

Only part of ur comment u were correct on was that we returned 4 of 5.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

You are wrong. The only stat that counts in college and pro football is points allowed. Houston’s O got 26 and ULM 17. So far we are allowing 21 points a game. Actually, if you want to talk about the first team defense as a whole, they’ve only give up 26 in 2 games. So, technically we are allowing 13.0 points a game! In game one, we lost because our offense didn’t score their average. Everyone gets beat on pass plays now and then.

          • bommer85 says:

Im right, u are scared and blind to admit OU may not be very good in the secondary. Not sure what team u watch or what expectations u have for OU or if u r just so biased for OU u cant see straight. Or mayb u dont know football but this secondary is not good

BTW U r wrong, the only stat that matters in college or pro football is WINS

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

And you win by out scoring the opponent. Answer the scoring fact son? Points allowed is what counts not how many yards you give up passing. Stop watching ESPN.

Lmao WE LOST U MORON thats what matters. U need to learn more about football. If u think houston is even comparable to ohio state thats laughable.

I see the extent of ur wisdom “you win by out scoring the opponent” thank you, now i know how it all works

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Answer the points per game stat! I’m waiting.

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Thank you. Everyone is forgetting that the secondary needs the line to do its job and we’ll be ok. I think we need to dial up blitzes more than we have if the front cannot get pressure.

      • Sooners4Life27 says:

its a tough call. I think you still have to take a few chances here and there. Their O line isn’t that great so OU shouldn’t have to bring the house to get to him.

      • TSFFKAG says:

Yes, I’m a little concerned with too many unsuccessful arm tackles by our DBs on Saturday.

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Meh. I feel like JT relies heavily on those dink and dunk type of throws to get his rhythm and that’s not something I want to happen. I certainly don’t mind playing less man to man, but even with most zone coverages you can press or give a very small cushion.

    • TSFFKAG says:

This is Mixon’s next to the last season. He needs time to mature socially? He needs to understand all aspects, including the game prep.

      • bommer85 says:

I hope you are right. But i see it playing out like this, people get in his ear telling him he needs to go because he has the talent(he does), the $$ whatever. he enters thinking early rounder and ends up in the 5th because of his past etc.

And that would be a shame, for him and for us as OU fans

      • ND52 says:

Mixon can leave this year if he so chooses.

      • KJ1123 says:

Joe will stick around for one more I feel to up his draft stock. In the 2019 draft he sits as the number 8 RB. He will get overlooked this year with all these RBs coming out.

    • connie usa says:

      Good stuff Bommer!!!

  • TSFFKAG says:

Does tOSU know OU is so depleted at DL that we will only use one lineman with “hands-on-the-ground”?

    • T. says:

Depleted? Our rotation is pretty deep if you ask me.

      • TSFFKAG says:

Someone has had a concussion, someone has had a knee surgery and someone has had a severe ankle sprain recently.

        • Michael says:

who’s the ankle sprain and who’s the knee surgery? Or is this just stuff from the off season you are talking about?

          • TSFFKAG says:

I thought Overton got a high ankle sprain on the next to the last play of the game against ULM. Lampkin had knee surgery in the off season and his recovery timetable hasn’t panned out. (just don’t publish this info, I may be totally wrong). ; )

          • SWoods says:

You are right about Overton and Lampkin. However, they aren’t starters and don’t see the field much anyway. We actually have a decent amount of depth, now with Dimon and Roberts returning from that suspension. Definitely want to see Gallimore start with Walker on the other side. Bledsoe looked really impressive also.

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Yes, Overton has a sprain, but Neville, Romar, Wade, Walker, Dimon, Ward, Bledsoe Roberts will play as far as I know. We good.

  • Jaymou13 says:

  • hOUligan says:

I’m sure someone else has commented, but …. dang!!! Phillips looks like a prototype from the LB lab. Wanted Hines. He’s good. And keep him out of puke orange. But Phillips in an OU uniform would ease any pain.

  • TSFFKAG says:

Will Amani Bledsoe be in the starting rotation on Saturday?

  • TSFFKAG says:

Maybe Mixon will stay around long enough to win the Heisman?

  • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I just listened to the Stoops press conference and man does that sound familiar. Sounds like 08 all over again. I’m probably the minority on this but I think Bob would be very smart to put Mixon at KR AND PR ( since for some reason they don’t run him 20x a game ) and I’ll roll the dice on that. The kid is our best player people, he needs to touch the ball in space as many times as he can. Just like I hope ( like many of y’all ) that we see big ole number 90 aka Notorious out there like Stoops suggested in the presser. Cherry on top would be to show the two ballin azz DT’s that are visiting us that we aren’t scared to play the young beefy boys if they earn the spot.

  • blaster1371 says:

Not like y’all are waiting for my take but I’ll throw it out there anyways since this my only place to talk OU football. I think we can expect OU to make another jump in progress this week. Another game on film and another game of experience. Both starting units looked a lot better. ULM is no comparison to OSU in strength or talent but their team speed was pretty good. They brought four and five in pass rush and OU picked it up pretty well (starters did). This week the playmakers will need to step up especially among WRs. Mead out, Jones in, IMO. Defense must get turnovers, it’s the only sure way to deny osu scoring opportunities and possible keep OU in good field position. Cobb looked a little more settled and less frantic as he did against Houston. His game is press coverage not giving a cushion; his break out of the back pedal is just a bit too late to contest the reception but when he presses he seems to position himself better.

OU can win this game but it must be a combo of playing at a higher level and Osu shooting themselves in the foot on a few occasions. I will watch in DVR in delayed mode- keep track of the score and if things look promising start watching the DVR and stay a quarter behind live tv.

  • Jason Vos says:

starting receivers better look like this on sat

    WR- AD Miller
    IWR – Mykel Jones
    IWR – Mark Andrews
    WR – Dede Westbrook

    • SWoods says:

      No argument from me.

    • Zack says:

      I’ll allow this.

    • DCtitan42 says:

Yep, I guess we’ll see though

    • Sooner Ray says:

And Basquine first rotation. Want to see more of his ability.

      • Zack says:

I’ve got no issue seeing Baxter in the game too. Also I think mead and Smallwood should be rotation guys but not getting the bulk of the reps. Neither have shined in their opportunities and have had plenty.

        • Sooner Ray says:

I hear ya. These guys who have been in the program and not turned it on have me baffled. Smallwood has had injuries but he should be lighting it up right now. If young guys, even walkons, can show them up…..let them play IMO. If our receiver commits we have for next year pan out, things will be interesting.

          • Maranatha846 says:

I have seen Rambo and Lamb, they can certainly catch the ball. Haven’t seen Reagor but hear good things about him.

      • John Garner says:

He brings a lot of energy to the team.

    • Lincoln Hawk says:

Not sure if Mykel Jones has all of his assignments and routes down, that may be why we didn’t see him at Houston. I think he was injured in camp and missed some valuable time. Hopefully he is or gets caught up quickly, there is no denying his athletic ability.

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

If tOSU plays the “solo” (man/zone) coverage, then we’ll need a WR who can make plays by himself.

  • Jason Vos says:

    PR better be Joe Mixon

  • RBear says:

If you’re the type that likes to lurk around at the opponents site, check this:

    http://www.elevenwarriors.com/forum/ohio-state-football

    • Sith Lawd says:

Some excessively confident people on there. Someone boldly stated that tOSU will easily score 40+ points on every opponent they play this year. Not one of them (that I saw) predicted OU to get within 14 points of tOSU.

  • Sooner Ray says:

Hell, I just looked at the visitor list and noticed Grayson Boomer is coming this weekend. Don’t know if we are recruiting him but he is a soph., 6’5″, 230 lbs. His brother is the QB for Collinsville, committed to Tulsa. Probably coming with Draper.

  • End You says:

Would love to win this game convincingly, I know it’s not possible but would be nice to steal Trevor Grimes from TOSU

  • SoonerinLondon says:

A lot of talk about which WRs should be in the game. I like Miller, Westbrook, Jones, Baxter, Andrews, Basquine and more, but I hope we start the ones that Baker has timing with. I really think some of Baker’s accuracy issues are simply that he hasn’t worked with these buys enough to have the timing down. He seems to have it with Westbrook and Andrews, but I don’t know which others. Pick the 4 that he can hit in stride.

    • kt-raida says:

eh doesnt seem to affect buechle. Baker needs to play just like he did last week. You could tell he was taking what was given and not trying to be the star.

  • officially known as number 2 says:

I hope you guys beat theOSU 30 -13.

    • John Garner says:

So it begins. Publicly he worries about OU. Privately he plans. I hope we are too. I’d love a repeat of the FSU or Bama upsets. Defensively they were things of beauty.

    • LBS says:

At first I thought this was lip service, but looking….our DL is actually heavier than theirs by an average 10-15lbs.

  • Texasooner says:

Question for the Norman locals. Man cave has been unlucky for the UT game the last couple of years so we are going opposite this year and head north to spend the weekend in brick town. Anybody have favorite sports bars near there for the game?

Oklahoma best take notice. That question mark of a secondary is full of guys that demand they get the football. They bait QB’s into throws, make great tackles in space and have both the desire and ability to turn INT’s into Touchdowns. This is the most aggressive, intelligent, and fast secondary Oklahoma will see all season and probably is only rivaled by Alabama. I’ve been screaming blowout to anyone who will listen and nothing I’ve seen changes my mind. I do think it won’t be a blow out in the traditional sense of the word but one of those games where a 21 point victory feels like a lot more. I’m in the 42-21 camp myself, with 2 scores coming late in garbage time from each squad.

Proudly dispensing unbridled arrogance since 1983.

We share the same opinion on this.

I personally think some of our B1G opponents are tougher matchups. I think Nebraska will be a tougher game.

  • SoonerinLondon says:

I didn’t realize Charles Walker was hurt. BS said he should be back in practice sometime this week.

    What up?

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I’m sick of the sky is falling posters. Let’s face it, we are not sure of what we have this year. But no self-respecting Sooner fan should think we will lose. We could lose, but to be convinced that we are NOT at OSU’s level is just seeing things negatively.

    • Jesse says:

Thank you!!! Seriously some people are already saying we’re 1-4 pretty much. Let’s play the games first before we go into a frenzy. Have some faith!

      • RBear says:

thinking that some of the youth on the team after having a lot of success last week will be pretty jacked up and vocal for this one, it should be infectious

        • Jesse says:

I hope so!! Kelly just seems like that type of leader. Gallimore should be JACKED earning pt the way he did

  • Lincoln Hawk says:

I won’t post a link here but if interested the North Carolina GOP sent a response to the NCAA for pulling athletic events from their states due to political reasons. They included a jab at Baylor in the process. If you don’t like the NCAA you will probably like it.

    • RBear says:

If college football becomes the political $#!+ storm that is now the NFL, I’m out- will stick to hockey.

  • hOUstonboomer says:

I sure do hope that Stoops plays the best players on Saturday and not the players who are “most deserving.” If a freshman has been playing better than a senior, put him in!

  • RBear says:

The crowd being loud all game long IS A MUST this week. tOSU is fairly young and can be shaken if the crowd will just do their part.

    • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I’m going to be faded and screaming at the top of my lungs. I plan on losing my voice so I’ll definitely be doing my part 🙂

      • RBear says:

that’s what I was hoping to hear right there

      • Drew says:

        Good man.

        • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I try, I try. I’m a little jealous you got to see the new stadium before I! Lol. I swore for the longest time that the Ohio state game was our home opener and I was beyond hyped and telling people I was going to be there when we opened the renovated stadium for Ohio state.

          • RBear says:

we’ll call it the Home Opener* for you

          • Drew says:

It really is nice. The SEZ flows much better now, and concessions were almost walk up last week. The screen is HUGE. And well, if it makes you feel any better, I’d much rather be going this week than last. Want to go back and trade? It’d be for the team. You see, I’m perfect at games I’ve been too, including such lustrous games as the 77-0 route of TAM, the ’08 TTU game, and the ’11(?) OT bedlam win.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I’m certainly not blemish free so we can trade hahahaha. That 11 bedlam game was insane.

          • Drew says:

It really was. My seats were right next to the OSU band (which was incredibly annoying). BUT, that also meant I had a good look and Saunders’ punt return TD, as well as Bell’s 4th and goal as-time-expires TD and Clays 15 yd rumble for a TD in OT. I went hoarse for days, but completely worth it.

Anyone know who they are talking about?

    • RBear says:

      nope, paywall

    • Dustin says:

Chaisson and Wilson, I guess. Info that’s in this here OP.

      • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I was referring to the player that’s no longer making it. Wilson is using an official visit so the ride factor shouldn’t be an issue right?

        • Dustin says:

Well, they just said “unlikely”. Not sure that means he had to cancel. Probably means they were hoping he would make it, but isn’t going to. I really don’t know. Just guessing.

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

Fair enough. I’ll just wait for a nice Free.99 update tomorrow 🙂

          • JD says:

Up top when talking about K Lavon it seems to me like the free part was already out..the question is did this open post come out before the pay article..would be funny if the free article came first and they are withholding free info from their readers…why this is by far the best Sooner football site

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

That’s why I posted it. I saw they tweeted it about an hour ago so I didn’t know if their sources received an update and they wanted to beat TFB to it or what. Regardless I’ll be here everyday lol.

          • JD says:

an hour ago lol this OP has been up all day!

          • Vegas_Sooner21 says:

I’m aware of that. Since I don’t pay for the site I can’t confirm who exactly they are referencing in the title therefore I don’t know if it’s new info that TFB has yet to report since its late or if they are selling a bunch of re written Info that the TFB staff has provided.

    • OU Boomer says:

      Chaisson

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

    Boomer!

Ohio freakin St with Urban Meyer is coming to town! Let’s beat their butt…

    • SamSooner says:

We owe him a beat down. Maybe this time when we make five trips inside the 10 yard line, we’ll score more than 10 points.

    • KJ1123 says:

tOSU has been preparing for us just as long as we have for them….they wont look like how they struggled against Tulsa….we HAVE to out prep and outplay them.

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I am not focused on how they did, but on how they lined up as well as what they run knowing that they will have their full play book ready for us. Nothing else to do.

        • KJ1123 says:

I’ll tell you how they run defensively. They line up in a base and let their studs blow things up. Theyre one of the few teams that Ive seen that dont need to confuse offenses with fronts and what not. That makes it easier for us scheme wise. But our OL needs to be on point. Big week. Have you started an OU club over there in Japan yet?

          • D Hunter Sanchez says:

No. I have no idea where to start. I know a number of years ago a coach in Tokyo visited in Norman. I am a real beginner in Japanese, so we’ll see.

      • Golfluvr13 says:
