Open Post | Monday, Oct. 3rd

Team Note | Tay Evans: As you all know by now, OU linebacker, Tay Evans suffered a concussion in the Ohio State game. I’m told this was not Evans’ first concussion in the past three months.

I did not get a firm timeline on Evans return but was told not to expect to see him for a while. In fact one source said that due to the number of concussions Evans has suffered in a short period of time, he may be done for the season. – (Super K)

Team Note | Will Johnson: I’m told that Johnson was held out due to a previous concussion so this was nothing new. I have not be able to confirm his availability for this week’s matchup against Texas. – (Super K)

Team Note | Parrish Cobb: As you all know, we reported that Parrish Cobb was not practicing last week. He did not play in the TCU game.

I am told that he is suffering from a hamstring issue that may be more serious than previously thought. We will keep an eye on things this week to see if he participates in practice but at this point I am not expecting him to be out there. – (Super K)

Team Note | Jonathan Alvarez: Last week I noted that Alvarez had gotten rolled up early in the week but I had been given indication that he would be fine. Obviously that wasn’t the case. I asked about him and was told, “he got pulled Friday morning from practice. He tried to go but was obviously more injured than (they) thought”.

No word yet on whether he will be available this week but I suspect coach Stoops will address in his presser later today. – (Super K)

Marvin Wilson: I spoke to a source close to Wilson this past weekend and I am told that the Texas loss did not have much of an effect on his interest in the Longhorns. That said, this week will obviously be important.

Regardless, I still get the sense that Oklahoma just has a lot of ground to make up with Wilson. The source indicated that Ohio State and Alabama are now in the mix. But the team to watch is Texas A&M. TAMU is off to a great start and I’m told Wilson will take a return trip to College Station this weekend.

This is just going to be an uphill battle for OU but I still believe that if at all possible, Wilson wants to stay local (think TAMU, Texas, LSU, or OU). That doesn’t mean he won’t go farther from home, I’ve just always got the sense that he’d much rather stay closer to home. But again the Sooners have a lot of work to do and I’m less confident that he will take a return trip to Norman. – (Super K)

Kobe Boyce: 2017 Texas CB commit, Kobe Boyce did tell me that he will be in attendance at the OU vs. UT game this weekend. The Sooners will be the home team so we expect them to host a number of a visitors. Despite the struggles of both teams, this couldn’t have come at a better time. This is a game with a tremendous environment that can certainly help with recruiting. – (Super K)

Jalen Reagor: This past weekend, OU WR commit, Jalen Reagor made the trip to TCU for the game against Oklahoma. I reached out to Reagor to find out how things went but have not yet heard back, which is uncharacteristic of him.

Since his visit Reagor has removed “OU commit” from his twitter status. I checked it earlier yesterday and it was there…a few hours later it was gone.

I spoke to a source on the TCU side who said, “think he (Reagor) liked it. It helps that TCU is closer but we still have to see it all the way to the end”.

Another source close to Reagor said, “I’ve been hearing it (that Reagor will flip) for months…I don’t think he will flip. They (OU) just beat the team people keep saying he is thinking about going to”.

The fact that Reagor took the visit and the fact that he removed his commitment status from twitter is a clear sign, in my estimation, that something isn’t quite right. How dire things are at the moment I can’t quite say. The Sooners will have a chance to impress this weekend as I would expect the Dallas area commits to all be in attendance at the Cotton Bowl. A win and some face time with the coaches and I suspect that will go a long way with Reagor and by extension, Rambo. – (Super K)

Jacob Phillips: I exchanged a few messages with 2017 LB target, Jacob Phillips. He was on a visit to Alabama this past weekend and described it as “amazing”. Phillips said that he has one more official visit to take which will be to Texas A&M next weekend.

I expect an announcement to come shortly thereafter. – (Super K)
