4-Star OT Anthony Whigan Visit | Quick-Hitter
– Super K

Sooners are back at it again recruiting players out of Lackawanna Community College. 4-star JUCO OT, Anthony Whigan tells me that the Sooners have been recruiting him hard and he will take an official visit to OU this fall.

Based on initial conversations with Whigan it sounds like he has emerged as a key target for the Sooners.

I’ll have a full write up on Whigan, shortly, but wanted to be sure you all are aware of him.

2020 QB Unofficially Visits Norman
– Charlie S

– This is one that just popped up on my Twitter feed…

Griffin Brewster is a 6’2″ “Pro” style QB out of Rome, Georgia.

As you all know, with Bryce Young having committed to USC, the Sooners are on the market for a 2020 QB.

I have reached out to Griffin, as well as some people on the OU side to see what I can find out about him.

Will keep you updated when I get some more info.

Sooners Offer 2020 QB DJ Uiagalelei
– Charlie S

Lincoln Riley and the Sooners have extended an offer to the number one quarterback in the 2020 class in St Johns Bosco (Bellflower, CA) DJ Uiagalelei.

Super K will be in contact with DJ early this week and will have the full story on this.

That being said, Lincoln Riley will not go quietly in regards to the 2020 QB spot…

Sooners BBQ | Quick-Hitters | One in the Boat
– The Football Brainiacs

***The Sooners picked up a commitment…

***JUCO DL Jacoby Jones made it in for his visit. While on his visit he was offered by the Sooners. This is one to definitely keep an eye on and we will have much more on Jacoby as the week goes on!

***Also, Texas A&M 2020 OG commit, Akinola Ogunbiyi made it in as well. He’s pictured in some of the images we tweeted out. He stayed the night in Norman and it sounds like the Sooner recruits are putting in work on this one.

For additional notes on Akinola, please click the donor link!

***Speaking of Texas A&M, here are some tweets you might enjoy…

***Very briefly caught up with Woodi Washington. Asked him how his first trip to Norman went and his reply is something you will all love…

He said: “OU secured the bag”…seems like he’s locked in…

Washington says he wants to take his official visit to Norman for the UCLA game. However, I spoke with his father who noted that they have to check their football schedule first to confirm. Either way, OU exceeded all their expectations and they are excited to be back for the official visit.

***So some of you have seen the pictures on twitter of the kids and coaches with pie all over them. Apparently, there was a pie eating contest with the linemen…or there was supposed to be. But before it started, one of the coaches snuck up behind a player and pushed his face into the pie as a joke. Then it turned into a pie throwing contest and everyone just went wild from there.

Some of the guys Sooners fans may have wanted to make it in didn’t but the event was an absolute success. Everyone I’ve talked to loved how genuinely fun it was and how genuine the coaches are. These recruiting events can sometimes feel stiff and contrived. This one wasn’t. More on this later

***Caught up with 2020 Bowling Green (KY) safety prospect and OU offer Vito Tisdale and he let us know that he wants to make his way back to Norman for the UCLA game in September.

Woodi Washington and Tisdale are very close. They drove to Norman together.

Woodi is recruiting Tisdale to OU, already.

I asked Tisdale if he considered committing and he said it did cross his mind, “Woodi tried to say join the family and I did think about doing it”.

Ultimately Tisdale decided he will wait and take a return trip to OU which he hopes will happen for the UCLA game. He also added that he will likely wait to make a decision towards the end of his junior season.

***Caught up with 2020 DL Vernon Broughton out of Houston (TX). Asked him about the visit and the first thing he said was “The head coach, he was real cool and was straight up with me. Good person to get to know”.

Broughton went on to say “Campus was amazing and the whole staff had respect for me and my family which was great”.

We will have much more from Vernon in the near future.

***Also caught up with Turner Corcoran. Corcoran is a 6’6″ OT out of Lawrence (KS) and he raved about the event.

He said “It was very fun. Had a great time! We just got done with a water balloon fight and to be honest, I wasn’t expecting that but it was a really great twist”

He also mentioned the scavenger hunt. He was paired up Coach Gundy and Spencer Rattler and a few other recruits and his team won…of course.

He was really impressed with the time he got to spend with Coach Bedenbaugh and Coach Riley and was very impressed with all the facilities.

He said, “The weight room sticks out because of its size and their locker room was very nice!”

We plan on talking to Turner once he returns home and gets settled in.

Shammond Cooper | Quick-Update
– Super K

As you all know, 2019 4-star LB, Shammond Cooper made his way down to Norman this weekend for the Sooners BBQ. Cooper was accompanied by his mother and father.

As they were driving back to St. Louis I caught up with the family. I spoke with coach William Cooper, Shammond’s father, about the visit. I’ll have a full write-up later but I’ll mention a couple of things.

***OU knocked it out of the park. Shammond and the whole family loved…loved it.

***They plan on returning for an official visit.

***Coach Cooper said they spoke with the coaches about OU’s recruiting numbers and class space to ensure they’d have a spot for Shammond, “They (the OU staff) told us there was a numbers crunch but they still want him (Shammond), regardless”. They added that coach Kish was with them at the BBQ almost the entire time.

Again, more on this as I get my notes typed up.

Sooners Make The Cut | 2019 RB Noah Cain
– Charlie S

– The Sooners remain in the hunt for elite 2019 running back Noah Cain out of IMG Academy in Florida.

Cain tweeted out his Final Six earlier last night which included OU, LSU, Texas, Penn State, Ohio State, and Auburn.

We will have more on this in the near future.

TFB Quotables | The Day After | ChampU BBQ
– Charlie S

Spent some time Sunday morning checking in on some of the visitors from the ChampU BBQ. I asked them to give me one quote about something they can’t stop thinking about the day after the BBQ.

Was a lot of fun and I think you’ll enjoy their quotes!

Trejan Bridges – 2019 WR – OU Commit

“Best time I’ve had in a long time, but to spend it with my homies and my future teammates was even better! I can’t wait to get here”

Kori Roberson – 2019 DL – OU Commit

“Watch out for your surroundings!” (water balloon fight/pie flinging)

Jamal Morris – 2019 Safety – OU Commit

“Had so much fun with my family (Sooner Nation). I’ve never been so sure about something in my life…”

EJ Ndoma-Ogar – 2019 OT – OU Commit

“I remain blown away by the family atmosphere at OU. I know that the expectations are very high, and with the talent coming in with the 2019 class they will be even higher. But I can tell it’s the brotherhood in the locker room and the support, guidance, and mentorship of the coaches, the staff, and teaching faculty create an environment for us to be successful on and off the field.”

“Every time I visit, it strengthens my bond with the university. There really is only ONE Oklahoma.”

“For me, that ONE represents ONE family, ONE mindset, and ONE team.”

Derek Green – 2019 DL – OU Commit

“I’m speechless as always…it’s a football players fantasy land.”

Woodi Washington – 2019 DB – OU Commit

“I loved everything about it!”

Stacey Wilkins – 2019 OT – OU Offer

“Family and fun! Lots of that and a lot of smiles!”

“We all enjoyed ourselves and I’m gonna speak for everyone on that”

Vito Tisdale – 2020 DB – OU Offer

“It was a lot really. But I really enjoyed building relationships with the recruits and players that are there!”

Theo Wease – 2019 WR – OU Commit

“The family-like atmosphere once the water balloon fight started and the scavenger hunt!”

Davon Graham – 2020 WR – OU Offer

“The family atmosphere of the event and the coaches and of course when Coach Lincoln Riley pulled me into his office to have a lengthy conversation, which was great!”

Turner Corcoran – 2020 OT – OU Offer

“Ya know, the thing I most focus on the day after my visit to Oklahoma would be the time I spent with all the recruits. Being able to get to know them was great. Kind of like a bonding experience.”

Vernon Broughton – 2020 DL – OU Offer

“The coach (Riley) was great! (thumbs up emoji) and the campus was awesome!”

Ruth Cooper – 2019 LB OU Offer Shammond Coopers mother

“FAMILY AFFAIR!! I couldn’t believe how ALL the coaches participated in everything! Even the president! Pie and water balloon fights! (three heartemoji)

Michael Henderson – 2020 ATH – OU Offer

“Really just the fact that talking to everybody who is committed and goes to OU really loves OU. They feel the same way about the university as I do so I know I’m not just being misguided and that Coach Riley and that staff are actually for real with what they are talking about. And just how much of a priority that university makes me and Coach Riley, he’s just a great genuine guy and we get closer every time we talk!”

Jack Bridges – 2019 WR OU Commit Trejan Bridges father

“I was just talking to Coach Simmon this morning. Definitely one of our best visits to Norman this past weekend for the Champ U BBQ. Nothing but a ‘Family Feel’ from us. All the love shown to everyone, not just our Bridges family but lots of love shown for all the recruits and their families. All the OU coaches and their families, their wives, their kids, they all played a part and made it a great Champ U BBQ weekend. This past weekend just confirms even more that Oklahoma was the right move for my son Trejan…”

Alec Bryant – 2020 DL – OU Offer

“If you don’t want to win championships…don’t come to OU”

Shammond Cooper – 2019 LB – OU Offer

“Their player and coach relationships are crazy good!”
