5-Star Running Back Sets his Sooners Official
– Super K

Just received word from the father of 5-star running back, Chris Tyree that they have locked in their OU official.

I noted in my full write up, last week, that they were deciding whether to take an official for the spring game or the early part of the season.

They have decided to take the official for the spring game.

One would think that if the family feels comfortable after that final visit, they may shut things down following their remaining spring/summer official visits.

We’ll see.

Quick Hitter | Grad Transfer OL Jonah Jackson
– Charlie S

Very quiet weekend in Norman in regards to the Football team as they only had one visitor in and that was Rutgers Grad Transfer offensive lineman Jonah Jackson.

*** While we have not been in touch directly with Jonah, I did speak with James Hale and his sources told him that the visit went very well and Jackson was on campus until late Sunday afternoon.

*** While that is nothing Earth-shattering and you would expect OU sources to feel good about the visit, yesterday was the critical part of the visit as Riley and Bedenbaugh made their final pitches to the grad transfer to persuade him head to Norman and play for OU with his final year of eligibility.

*** There was no commitment as Jonah will take some time to think on it

*** We are checking to see if he will take any additional visits following the trip to OU and if there is a timeline as to when he will make his decision.

2019 JUCO Offensive Lineman to Watch
– Super K

An intriguing offensive lineman to keep an eye on is 2019 JUCO tackle, Willie Tyler III (Iowa Western). On film you see a big athletic guy with some tools that seem to have caught Bill Bedenbaugh’s attention.

Tyler has gone almost completely under the radar despite the fact that he will graduate this May and enroll somewhere this summer. The reason his name has been unknown for the most part is because his original graduation date was for December of 2019. He managed to stack his classes and is now, again, expected to graduate in May. So, he can provide a school with immediate help.

Texas appears to be one of the first schools that discovered Tyler’s updated graduation timeline. They brought him on an official visit this week. They have yet to offer. According to him, Texas says they will let him know in a couple weeks. I imagine the hold up currently is them trying to see where they stand with some of these graduate transfers.

Willie told me that coach Bedebaugh got in touch with him last week. I checked with Willie this evening and he said, “Coach B said he’s going to hit me up tomorrow so I’m hoping (to take an official visit) soon”.

He added, “I’ve been telling every school that I’m wrapping it up soon and these next two weekends are it”.

I would imagine OU is in a bit of the same situation as Texas where they are trying to see where things stand with graduate transfers. However, OU is dire need of numbers.

We’ll see how this all materializes.

Quick-Hitters | Bijan Robinson, Jalen McMillan & Dontae Manning
– Super K

These three notes are in regards to three very elite players…

***I know I know…I owe y’all a full write up on 2020 RB, Bijan Robinson (Salpointe Catholic – Tuscon, AZ). I’ll get to it.

But for now, I wanted to let you know that the original date for an unofficial was supposed to be in March. That may still happen, but in speaking with his mom more recently, it sounds like they could end up making the final visits in the spring/summer official visits instead.

The family is going to sit down and discuss it and then set the visits. Decision will come soon after.

Interesting little note on Bijan, his grandfather (mom’s dad) is a PAC 12 official.

***2020 WR, Jalen McMillan (San Joaquin Memorial – Fresno, CA) dropped his top 10 and as expected the Sooners made the cut.

We still believe the Sooners and Oregon are the teams to beat. Last week when I checked in with McMillan he said they would be taking an unofficial visit at the end of February for the JR day.

I’ve since rechecked with Jalen’s mother and she tells me the actual date will be March 15 to the 17th. So, they’ll spend a good amount of time in Norman.

***Also, spoke with recent 2020 CB offer, Dontae Manning (KC, MO). As I mentioned earlier, really like this young man’s film. He’s a 100m sprinter with good size and he’ll put his face on someone.

I’ll have a full introductory write-up on Manning to get you all a little more familiar with him but Manning did say that the plan is for him to visit this upcoming weekend for the Sooners junior day.
