Good morning all! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!
– Team is Focused: If practice is any reflection of how a game will turnout then the OU vs. Clemson game this year will be NOTHING like last year. Leading up to last years game all I heard from sources was things like, “the team doesn’t want to be here”…”these guys are just going through the motions”…in fact one person told me a day or two before the game that based on the demeanor of the players in practice and how they prepared the team was going to get “whipped”.
This year is another story…entirely. And I think Sooner fans will indeed see a completely different result. Win or lose, Oklahoma will come out ready to play. Since the start of bowl practice I’m told it’s been “very intense”. The upperclassmen have stepped up even more than usual and the young guys have responded well. It sounds like the team isn’t satisfied with just being there and I know that should go without saying given the stakes but…young kids in Miami…it’s easy to feel like, “we’ve done enough prep…let’s have fun”. Instead, I’m told these Miami practices are even more intense than the practices were back in Norman.
Again, win or lose, I think you are going to see a very different Sooner team than you saw last year. Clemson better strap up cause Brent Venables’ defense isn’t the only one that likes to hit. – (Super K)
– Jauan Williams: OU getting into the playoff has turned a few more recruit’s heads towards the Sooners. We already told you that the Sooners will host DE/OLB and TAMU commit, Mark Jackson in January. Another top prospect who may visit in January is 2016 offensive tackle, Jauan Williams (Washington D.C.). The Sooners already have one commitment from the D.C. area in cornerback, Parnell Motley. Williams told me that the trip hasn’t been set up yet but he is hoping to use one of his official visits to take a trip to Oklahoma in January. – (Super K)
– Erick Fowler: Another top prospect that OU will likely host in January is 2016 OLB/DE and LSU commit, Erick Fowler (Manor, TX). Fowler actually visited Oklahoma once before back in the summer of 2014. At the time, Oklahoma was one of the first schools to offer him. His commitment to LSU wasn’t a huge surprise. Manor grew up an LSU fan and chose the Tigers over Texas despite the fact that his step brother, Desmond Jackson, played for Texas. However, Erick isn’t your prototypical 6’4-6’5 DE that you normally see LSU play on the weak side in their 4-man front. I’ve seen Fowler on numerous occasions and he’s closer to 6’2 and built like a stand rush OLB (and can be a DANG good one). In other words, he doesn’t quite fit the scheme at LSU and in my past conversations with Fowler he’s told me that LSU hasn’t made it clear where he’d play.
I caught up with Fowler recently and he said that he’s planning a few trips in January which will include: LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon and a possible trip to UCLA. Fowler would likely play Striker’s position at OU so Oklahoma really needs to impress upon him that they have a clear vision for where he will play, how he can be successful there, how that success has already been demonstrated and how there is a need (with Striker leaving). In my estimation he’s just what Oklahoma needs to continue to have a terror at that Striker position. – (Super K)

Boooooooooomerrrrr!!!!
SOONER!
Boomer! Thanks for the OP!
Sooner!!!!
Haven’t they recruited several guys at strikers position?
Bolton comes to mind. Caleb Kelly could play there if he signs with OU. I think Obo is the back up for that position now.
Here kitty, kitty. Got sumpin fO U.
Great info. Thanks! Boomer!
I would think Ogbo Okoronkwo would be the next man up for strikers position. He is a really good pass rusher, a little small for a 3-4 DE.
Love the focus. While board-fueling comments by Clemson are not necessarily indicative of their team’s attitude towards the game, it sure seems like Clemson is buying into the “we don’t need to do much to beat OU” storyline. Of course, they could just be saying that and trying to hustle everyone.
Excited about OU recruiting for the “Striker” position – I think this year we’re seeing Mike Stoops finally getting the personnel and scheme set up to be versatile and aggressive. With Coach Reynolds improving the technique of the DL, Coach Cooks tightening up the secondary, and a bunch of talent waiting in the wings, I’m optimistic that the D is finally settling into an identity that can hopefully play power rush offenses as easily as spread offenses.
Yep, hearing all about the focus has made the long lay off easier to deal with. I don’t know what the outcome will be, but I know our guys will be ready to go.
What? Me worry? OU clobbers Clemson 53 – 20, Alabama mauls Michigan State, OU ambushes Alabama 38 – 24.
I’ve actually read a lot of the same here in regards to OU beating Clemson. Both are good teams, and it’s going to be a good game. OU controls the 4th quarter with the running game to win.
Odd that you don’t hear any clemson comments about the OU running game.
OU is an Air Raid team everyone knows they don’t have a running game.
Considering the bang up job they did with FSU’s Cook(175yds), they might want to at least consider it.
Yes, and I am not sold on their defense being so good. They lost 8 starters from last year and 5 of the opponents only won 3 games or less. Outside of NC, I am not sure any were offensive powerhouses. I do believe their offense may be better than last year. I say OU wins by 2 touchdowns. Say 42 to 28
It’s the one decided edge in this game, all others are pretty close to equal to me.
Look at what the running game has done to conference opponents that knew what was coming. With Venables historical problem of not making in-game adjustments if they aren’t prepping for it now it will be to their detriment.
This game still comes down to turnovers, something OU has been better at limiting.
No dispute with the turnover rates of both teams.
oops clicked the wrong button at first, my apologies ET
No do-overs allowed. 🙂
That happens to me all the darn time. UGH
I always question if I need to say something when I do that. haha
agreed………..we’ll know better about OU’s determination after the 1st Sooner turnover. How the defense handles such adversity will be an indicator…………..
they seem to take it personal, especially if it’s Mayfield. as in “well guys my bad, but I’m gonna make up for it”
that’s the PG version
Let’s hope the 1st Sooner turnover isn’t until after the game, when they turn over the page to the next game…
+10 to their -2 if I remember correctly
Again there is running game pre Texas 144yd/game and post texas 300 yds/game. If you look at our season stats they aren’t that great (#15), but post Texas we would be in the top five in rushing per game.
like the new photo Bob, Samaje will be the Orange Bowl MVP…unless someone on defense has a huge game
And if Samje isn’t Mixon may be, not sure you can stop both. I expect us to run quite a bit to soften up the DLine later in the game. I’ve heard they aren’t very deep.
Yep, and that also takes their best player on D and forces him to play the run first, which gives Brown or Samia the advantage.
As for the photo, my daughter took that on Christmas Eve when we were all sitting out on the back porch in our short sleeves.
It was definitely a warm Christmas
True. But there seems to be minimal talk of that sort coming from the OU football team – mostly the “OU is going to crush Clemson” talk is coming from those people from the internet. The comments coming from the football team seem to be pretty much focused on the challenge ahead.
True
The thing is with the Clemson comments, the team usually reflects in interviews what they are hearing in practice and meetings with the coaches. Not a hundred percent, but if you hear it coming from more than one source that’s probably what they are being told. Having said that, the only one I have read has been the TE so it may just be he is a loose cannon.
You may have a point, the young TE has made a couple of these comments, the previous being ‘Oklahoma is a stepping stone”.
Yeah, I haven’t really seen many other comments coming from the rest of the team. I guess we’ll see how it turns out on Thursday!
Looks like Mike is telling Will Johnson he will be on the Clemson TE in this game
I hope not. Would rather see him on a slot if they are running the nickel.
He’s also been one of OU’s best playmakers near the LOS. I’m looking for him to be on one of those speedy Clemson WRs.
Yep. Usually a safety or or outside backer takes the TE. If they flex him out then I can see Parker picking him up.
Same here.
I imagine the tête-à-tête with Coach Stoops is “line up off the slot and just as the ball is snapped run up and pick the quick throw and take it to the house.”
Shades of the Nebraska game a few years ago. That was a great start that night!
Exactly the play I was thinking of…good job!
I could see it in my memory when I was reading it.
For those without the memory:
https://youtu.be/ZsZ3pe5shfc?t=84
I was watching that game with several NU fans. They were pretty much silent the rest of the night. LOL
I was at that game. After the touchdown pass to Brown to end the first, some nearby Nebraska fans said if we would put in the third string guys, they promised to make the game competitive.
Too easy.
Dear 7lb 4oz baby Jesus, please give us a game just like this against Clemson.
I’d rather see big, physical, athletic Steven Parker on him.
I’m not worried about the TE. Great teams make you adjust to what they do. Clemson will have to adjust more than they want to.
I’m excited about the game. This team exceeded my expectations. I predicted a 7-5 or 8-4 season because of uncertainty about the QB, oline, and dline. I also didm’t think the defense would be this good. I was still certain they would loose 4-5 games after watching the first four games and then the loss to Texas seemed to be proof of what I expected.
It’s very hard to understand why this team is playing for a national championship. Is it Mayfield, Riley’s willingness to use the running game, Mikes scheme or the players buying into the system? Probably all of the above. So, win or lose this week, I’m satisfied with the season and now feel the program is trending up. Boomer!
It takes love, believe it or not. If you watch this team, the offense cheers for and congratulate the defense, the defense cheers for and congratulates the offense. When you have genuine love, you don’t want to let the other person down, which leads to sacrifice: time at the beach, video games, site seeing. Sacrifice is always rewarding.
Exactly! Great comment. Folks who have never played have a hard time understanding just what being close brings to the table. Selfishness goes out the window. Bickering goes out the window. Blame goes out the window. And the focus becomes, not necessarily winning, but playing up to your potential each and every time you get on the field. Never quitting or giving up and always having teammates to cheer you on and lift you up. And sometimes it only takes a few knuckleheads to mess that all up. This team, win or lose this game, seems to have something really special.
Thanks for the OP and info, Super K.
With the dead period in effect not much ‘cruitin’ news to be had.
Thrilled to hear the “singular focus” by the Sooners is in full effect.
Just out of curiosity who will be asked to cover Legget? Parker?
He will get some catches, I just want a hard hitter tenderizing his ribs to dissuade further adventures.
I know exactly what you are talking about. As an ancient free safety, there is a truly unique sound made when you shoulder is driven precisely into the rib cage just under the arm. You’ll never forget it when you do it right. Neither do they.
We can stop the best offenses out there like Baylor, Taco Tech, but Clemson will just be able to walk all over us. Drug test this Clemson TE.
We “only beat back ups.”
They Beat Notre lames backup QB and Convict St backup QB.
They didn’t walk all over good teams (FSu, ND). Or 3-9 teams (about 6-8 teams they played), or D2 teams. BUT they should walk all over us and make an exception for the season!
Clemson can talk, they earned that after last years game. Just keep talking. We’ve gotten disrespected all year…..that works for us. Pre-game speeches will be intense for sure.
We to Deep
R.I.P. Meadowlark Lemon.
Saw the Globetrotters at Lloyd Noble Center back in the late seventies, maybe 1980… Had a hoot! Meadowlark Lemon came up into the stands and gave as many high fives to as many people possible … Dude just loved the fans; had a great way about himself.
A tremendous entertainer. Lived to be 83, quite a life.
Great minds: I just echoed your sentiment.
That’s sad. But he was an entertainer.
My high school coach in Ardmore, OK was a guy named Frank Luster. He passed away a couple of years ago and was a great man and coach. He always told us he played at Langston University, who beat the Globetrotters back in the 1950’s. He and a couple other starters were offered to join the Globetrotters. He did for 3-4 years and then said the travel was just too much on he and his wife. Became a high school coach. We weren’t sure we believed him until he showed up in a Globetrotter uniform at an FCA fundraiser and sank about 3 hook shots from half court! He was probably in his mid to late 40’s then. Was blessed to have known him as a coach and as a man.
Here’s his obituary. It says he was a part of the Langston team that beat the Globetrotters.

When did you graduate AHS? Mine was 1964.
Graduated in 1973. Left there and went to Oklahoma Baptist for 2 years and then spent 4 years in the Army with the 101st Airborne and the old Berlin Brigade. Now work for the VA.
Thank. I graduated OU in 70 and went on active duty. Would up in Alabama where I stayed. Was in Ardmore last year. First time I’d been back in years. No friends, no family there anymore.
I was stationed at Ft Rucker for about 3 months prior to being sent to Berlin. I still have a few friends in Ardmore, but no family there anymore. Last time I went back was 25 year reunion in 1998.
I’ve been to Rucker about 20 times. Nice little post. Spent most of my time at Redstone Arsenal near Huntsville.
Last year was my first time back in Ardmore since 2000. Truly amazing how the place has grown. And Norman, I can remember when there was open land between Norman and Moore and Moore and OKC.
I’m getting old.

Wow, 2nd half of January is shaping up to be a great time for possible OU visitors. Wish OU had more spots available.
1. E.J. Price
2. Quartney Davis
3. Mark Jackson
4. Juan Williams
5. Erick Fowler
If OU wins the championship I think we land all those guys you listed.
I really like this Wims kid. Looks like kind of big wr that that OSU, TCU, BAY seems to have on a regular basis
Just my opinion, but there is most likely a reason leggett has not been reeled in by coaching staff and told to shut up. If u wanted the opposing team to get pissed and focus on stopping one guy, wouldn’t someone like Andrews for us be the pick? I’m not saying this is completely a head game, but hopefully our staff and players aren’t turning this into a seek and destroy mission on a guy with less stats than duron Neal. Agree he could be a weapon, but he’s much like Andrews really. They have plenty more weapons to worry about.
I do trust this team is using the commentary appropriately though. Just sayin.
I don’t know that the guys would key in on one guy. I see them more likely to assign his comments to the view of whoever they’re responsible for on the next play.
Yes, I agree. I think the staff and players are smarter than us, at least I hope so!
No conspiracy. When someone pops off the payback goes to the entire team. No bueno for Clemson.
That’s what I meant by using the commentary appropriately. I believe what you say will be the case.
You are really getting creative with the paranoia! Good stuff. Stay away from the brown acid!
I’m telling you, if for some crazy reason we lose this game I will have to find a new job, house, etc and move the whole fam damily. I couldn’t live here anymore! It’s making me crazy! I’m still praying to 8 lb, 6 oz baby Jesus every day.
I’m starting to ramp up the nervousness. It’s inevitable. I started wearing gloves 24/7 this morning so I will still have fingers left come kickoff.
I’ve wanted Fowler & Jackson from day 1. If OU lands both of them and Kelly & Juarez , Just call us LBU.
If we pull off that quadfecta…….the prediction for the next 4 years is PAIN.
Just throwing this out there…don’t shoot the messenger:
http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/story/clemson-tigers-oklahoma-sooners-college-football-playoffs-five-reasons-clemson-wins-orange-bowl-122815
This doesn’t say anything that hasn’t been said before. (Not blaming you for that, of course). I’m tired of articles like this. Let’s just get to the game already!
I agree, I have seen these for all four teams in the playoffs and they really do not say much. They have a lot of words in them, but no sustenance.
This is the beauty of CFB; what last year’s team did matters nada this year.
1 reason those reasons won’t matter. This Oklahoma team wants it more.
They just did a 5 reasons OU beats Clemson a few days ago.
Good article, but OU has an answer for each of those 5 points, and a couple extra to boot I believe. Heck, we even have a pretty good entry in the whip dance contest, if it comes down to that. 🙂
OT, but there was another short article link to the side of that one that had Allen mentioning the 4 schools talking to him the most and we were still one of them. It was only written one day after the Murray news broke so not sure how it stands now. Curious if he drops us from the list or not or if we even decide to pursue.
I wondered about that too.
Amazing, but love being the “underdog”. Watson does have a weakness, he’s thrown 11 int’s this year, compared to Mayfield’s five.
This^ times eleventy!
The article is silly because, in almost every category, you can say almost the exact same thing about Oklahoma. The offensive balance one tells me that the author did no research whatsoever. Clemson was 0.2 % (yes thats .2 percent) less in the percentage of passing yards to total yards. That is hardly a significant difference in “balance.” Despite losing the “balance” battle OU had 20yd/game more and 7.3 points per game.
Since I realized you were wanting to share the 2nd story with your fellow Brainiacs (the 1st story was trash, and should be treated as such), I thank you for sharing. No shots necessary!
Yeah, I was just throwing out some trash out there for everyone to laugh at.
Interesting to read what K heard about the teams’ attitude last year. It always amazes me that some players just don’t realize that every game, especially a high profile one is an opportunity to make game film as a team and as an individual that is guaranteed to be seen by scouts. Every game is an audition these days, and there’s no reason not to be fired up to prepare and play your best–ever.
Of course, the reports from this year’s team are very encouraging. I think with that attitude, this team will do very well in the upcoming games.
The chemistry of last year’s staff with the team was completely different than this years- I believe those issues have been addressed in a positive way and are nothing more than a speck in the rearview mirror.
Here’s to the additions Bob made, to the players buying in and growing as a team.
BOOMER!
SOONER!
Super K, thanks for taking the time to post this today.
I have a sense that this team is willing to lay it all out there to put this thing back on track and back on track will be defined by hoisting a trophy.
Could not agree more. BOOMER!
I WANT NASTY, MOTHERF*****!!!
he must have started with the Globetroters in his early teens ! saw the Globetrotters at the MSG in NY back in the 1950’s ….and meadowlark was a star attraction then …..
In the 50’s? How do you even know how to internet?
My mom is ninety and she spends more time on the Internet than most kids. It’s a great way for old people to keep up with extended family.
Well, it definitely explains a lot for Stephen. A lot.
Careful friend….several of us can remember Bud Wilkinson teams. (or so I have been told /s)
Everyone acts like SD isn’t a real fan… he was actually classmates with Bud Wilkinson’s Dad s
I think a bunch of folks on here used to play before they invented helmets. 😉
My mother-in-law has embraced it but her fart of a husband prefers the stone-age. “What would you all do without your devices?”, he asks. I don’t know, the same thing as you do without getting up.
Well, my in-laws just got cell phones so we kind of have both sides in our family.
Meadowlark was a genius entertainer in his day, and a terrific mimic. I grew up watching his antics on tv and loved every minute, to the point that I went on a search a few years back to record videos of some of those old episodes of ww of sports with the Globetrotters. He was no where near the great ball player that the guy he was mimicking (Goose) was, but he managed to convey the same appearance, and was a delight and inspiration to generations of fans, myself included.
PS Highly recommend the 30 for 30 on Goose Tatum for some great background on the history of the Trotters and the Meadowlark “role.” I remember an interview with Meadowlark where he talked about practicing Goose’s moves in his bedroom as a kid.
As for the Clemson TE’s yackety-hack, it’s usually the first sign that you’re not good if you’re trying to convince yourself that you are good.
Its too bad we don’t have a big, athletic tight end type to practice against right?
I doubt we have anyone that can simulate anything Clemson does in practice. Their athletes are just that much better than ours.
Even if we had the athletes, we wouldn’t have the know how to simulate it.
Because their coaches are just that much better than ours. After all Dabo Sweeny has TWO ACC championships. How many ACC championships does Bob have?
the sarcasm is strong today
Sarcasm?
Wait, do I have to do a /s when I do sarcasm about sarcasm?
There are probably some that could use the clarification.
Is there anyway to add a signature on Disqus. I could just make mine a /s. That would save time.

I love the sarcasm!
I love what we are hearing. We are more focused and more intense now then we have been all season, and we are attracting some awesome talent. Lets Bring home number 8!
OU – 45
Clemson – 27
Indeed. Quoting from Zero Wing, when the dust settles all Sooners will look at Clemson and say “All your base are belong to us”. This should resonate with those of us old enough to remember Zero Wing. 🙂
I love philanthropists: you given Clemson more points than they will score. LOL!
OU 63 Clemsoning 9
Just thought I share.
http://www.bcftoys.com/2015-game-projections/
Advanced metrics bcf toys picks Clemson to win by a point 27-26 with a 3% positive probable favor
Bcftoys had a similar projection with Baylor..we won by 10.
Maybe they should wait until after the game to run that simulation.
Its strange to me they are favored.. In their own projections OU is ranked higher in Pts per possession and yards per stop.
This is the closest projection of all the games I believe.
Clemson won’t know what hit them.
Striker will tell them what hit them after the game!
I want to hear it.
Me too!!!
I’m stoked. I can’t contain it.
I don’t think Clemson knows the kind of killer instinct mentality this OU team has. Clemson were outscored 7/13 games in the 4th qtr .OU just once in TCU game. Winning the 4th qtr is a great attribute for a team to have and OU has proved that in every game with Baker.
Killer instinct.
(I probably have said this a thousand times but its true.)
No matter how far down and out this OU team could get.. There is always a chance they will fight through it.
I think if we are winning by the start of the 4th.. there is a snowball chance in hell Clemson wins.
I agree. Great post.
The thing I like about Mayfield is that he has that scorers mentality. He wants to score as many points as he can.
I had thought of looking, but couldn’t generate enough energy, to see if clemson had to overcome a deficit of any kind(much less 14 pts) in the 4th qtr this year.
No not really, its more of they get up early on teams and let them hang around. Clemson lacks the killer instinct to pull away and end the game early.
Ex Notre dame was down 21-3 at one point in 3rd. They scored 19 in 4th and lost 24-22.
I was out and about today. I saw a young lady driving. Her license plate had a Michigan State frame. I have an OU frame on my license plate. So, I will take that as a premonition of what is to be: Michigan State vs. OU.
Your logic is sound.
Anybody see any dead Tigers while you were out today?
I will see if I can make that happen, on Thursday.
Are you a dentist?
Not at all. You don’t want me in your mouth.
oops
Not even joking, a friend of mine went to the miami zoo recently and said she didn’t get to see the tiger because they said it had just passed away.
Wow!
Well, there you go.
Sher Khan is down.
I’ll take it. Don’t want Bama in NC game, not b/c we can’t beat them, but I just want Bama to lose every game and never make it to the NC. Tired of their mouth.
Stat prediction:
Perine – 18 carries, 130 yards, 2 tds
Brown – 12 pancakes, 9 personal fouls
Are the pancakes for breakfast or just in the first quarter?
That sounds like a prediction that ends in an OU loss.
Let’s be honest we’re a heavily penalized team. OUr guys are mean, that’s why we win.
We’re definitely a heavily penalized team, but 135 yards in penalties from one guy on offense is going to kill a lot of drives.
Yeah, in all seriousness Stoops has been pretty irate with him at times this year.
negative. sounds like a team that puts a whipping on someone
Shaq Lawson First round grade turns into Undrafted after he plays Zeus.
lol. you might be right
https://twitter.com/OU_Football/status/681549184420474880
who is that big man?
Probably Jordan Phillips.
the man who killed Hasselbeck.
It is
Thanks, EasTex.
We need as many former players as possible to present on the sideline. I’m calling for Trent Williams, Phil Loadholt, AD, Stills, Clayton, Brown, Broyles, Teddy Lehman, Rocky, Torrance Marshall, and et al.
And Ontei to yell “Go home, Miami, Go home!”
I can’t remember the play but he chased down someone. That kid had some serious speed.
Loved his passion.
We’ve had some great players come through OU. Better yet, we’ve had some great individuals come through OU.
et al was one of the greats…
Do you think anyone would notice if we suited a couple of them up?
Let’s try.
Let’s try.
We have an AD V2 in Perine, Shep is a V2 Broyles, Rocky and TM probably still in shape but too old,a nd Lehman is already on the sidelines. Give me Trent, Davin, and Phil back on the line any day. Stills could slip out there he is about same build as AD Miller isn’t he. Clayton can’t give it a go. J.D. Runnles, Curtis Lofton, Derrick Strait, Dan Cody, Trent Smith, Q, Sam the Man, Gresham, Woolfolk, Perkins, Murray, so many great names coming to mind Gerald McCoy should be close by, Dusty is already on the sidelines to. Oh the thought and the memories.
I’m thinking adding AD and run a ‘bone with him Mixon and Samaje. Samaje would make a heck of a wishbone FB.
Only Loadholt, better not try it with him, but could probably get away with it, with Stills, AD, and maybe Teddy.
I can assure you Torannce will be there (I believe he lives there) I met him during halftime Hurricane game of ’09, nice guy.
Kenny Stills sporting a new haircut?
I like his new look.
I recognized the tats. If not I wouldn’t have recognized him. Looks like a banker.
The “Mohawk” worked in college, now he looks like the consummate professional.
He’s not a kid anymore.
He has caught some dimes in his day.
Will there be a Monday press conference today?
They already had the offensive press conference this morning.
Want to see how close the margins in a season are just look at this year. Two plays.
4th and goal on the Tenn one yard line in the first OT. Samaje Perine adjusts and blocks a player that wasn’t his responsibility freeing Baker Mayfield to get into the end zone and send us to double overtime. We go on to win.
TCU going for two at the end of the game. Stephen Parker leaves his man and bats the pass away sealing the OU victory.
Those two plays go the other way and we are looking at a 9-3 season not much of an improvement over last year. More discussion about whether Bob Stoops really has what it takes to get us back.
Two players make two plays and Bob goes from hot seat to playing for a national title. It’s a game of razor thin margins.
Quick, somebody find a play in the UT game that would have made us undefeated!
Alex Ross fumble.
Good job. In my own head we are now undefeated.
Alex Ross fumble.
Since we lost by one score, one big play on the last drive would have tied it up and sent it into OT where we could have won. Still the point is not that we “should” have won or lost those games, but that the overall results of an entire season can boil down to just a small number of plays. Some teams like Kansas are so bad that a few plays don’t make a difference. But for the top guys the difference between 11-1 and 9-3 could be as little as two plays.

Upon careful consideration I have rejected your logic and instead used your own words to convince myself that we deserve to be undefeated even though that is no where near your original intent.
OK, but doesn’t that make you an OSU fan?
^^^^^ POST OF THE DAY!!!!!!! ^^^^^^
Bob, you have lost your Christmas generosity already…. Even if deserved, accusations of oswhoism is harsh 🙂
I didn’t accuse I simply asked based on the logic he was using. It was more warning a brother not to go down that path of mental deterioration and darkness that comes with aggie logic.
Can I quote you on that big guy (wipes a small tear from eye), that was beautiful.
Sure anything to keep a brother from becoming an aggie. It doesn’t just affect them it can destroy their family for several generations, the lost teeth, the overuse of tattoos, the mullet haircuts, the conversion of the family tree into a set of parallel lines. It’s horrible.
I can always count on you or Robertson to either make me smile or laugh every day. Thank you!
OK, but doesn’t that make you an OSU fan?
Kickoff fumbled in first quarter. Gave them hope.
The D allowing the big 4th quarter run is probably one. They weren’t moving the ball on us at that point, and we had some momentum, but that run gave it all back to UT.
I think we also have a couple of big drops from the WR’s in that game, iirc. One of those might have swung the game back to OU as well.
We had a number off close wins in 2000 as well.

Agree. They always say a play or two per game makes or breaks it. Look at that crazy finish with Arkansas v. Ole Miss. If Ole Miss stops that wild play, Alabama does not go to the SEC championship game.
Just think what tenn could have done themselves with a few plays going their way. Could have wrecked half the final 4.
Four losses by a combined 17 points. No loss more than a single score. Split them one way and they play for an SEC championship or split them another way and they knock two teams out of the playoffs. Instead Tennessee fans are complaining about his inability to win big games.
Yep, we beat a damn good team on their turf as rowdy as their crowd has ever been, before we started clicking. If we play fundamentally sound and stay in our game no one can beat us. Truly believe that.
If OU and Bama each win, Tennessee will have lost half their games to the teams playing for the national championship. And they should be even better next year.
I’m glad we don’t play them next year.
They lost 2 games to teams who are in the final 4, one in overtime and would have beat Bama at Bama If they could kick aFG. Easily should have beaten FL gave up huge lead to lose by one. Only lost by 7 to Arkansas. Tennessee = good team
Just think what tenn could have done themselves with a few plays going their way. Could have wrecked half the final 4.
I recently watched a replay of the OU/Tenn game and I didn’t even recognize that team wearing the Crimson and Cream. We were very lucky to escape with a victory that night. We converted several 4th down plays in both regulation and overtime, the failure to convert anyone of which would have meant defeat. Plus, got the benefit of two no-calls when O. Brown and Kasitati both clearly moved too soon on separate plays that resulted in big gains.
Got screwed out of a defensive strip and TD in the first half – luck and screw-jobs go both ways.
Perhaps, but not sure I’d call it a “screw job”. Although Dobbs was not down, his forward progress had clearly been stopped for several seconds and the whistle had blown the play dead before the strip. .
It was a pretty weak call, though. Parker initiates contact at 10:05, has the football by 10:07, they hadn’t really pushed Dodds back significantly, no really held him up from the ground blatantly. The whistle was very premature.
https://youtu.be/XDArO1o6PBQ?t=600
That was a td, taken off the board. Horrible call.
It was a terrible call! We got robbed on that one.
Right. We got 2 calls. Tennessee got none.
Did I say that Tenn got no calls? No! Don’t put words in my mouth. But the two I mentioned were huge because they directly led to both of our comeback TD’s. Other than the strip that may or may not have been correctly called, please tell me bad calls that went Tenn’s way that led to 2 TD’s.
“Don’t put words in my mouth” That reminds me of my ex. What a bitch! Thanks.
Didn’t mean to bring back bad memories, lol.
Lol. Terrible memories. Nightmarish!
Bad calls that do not result in scores for the opponent cannot be identified as costing a score. What happens after the bad call cannot be attributed to the refs error. OU could have been penalized the 5 yards and scored on the next play or gotten a first down and continued with the drive. Just cannot say it cost the Vols two scores. You can say the calls might have cost the Vols two scores.
And last year if last year Hunnicutt hits a couple of FG’s he missed (KSU 19 and 32) and (OSU 330 we are 10-3. Ditto Trevor pick 6’s vs TCU and KSU and Josh Heupel and Jay Norvell are still OU coaches. Win against TCU, KSU and OSU and our attitude might have been different in Orlando and we might have had a chance made a game of that ass kicking in the RAB.
If we had beaten TCU, KSU, and OSU we would have been 11-1 (losing only to Baylor) and we would not have been playing in Orlando.
The loss to KSU was critical. I was there for the first game I was able to attend since 1969. When Hunnicutt missed that last FG, you could feel the air go out of the stadium and the OU team. The season was over then.

That picture of Mike with his arm wrapped around Will is so cool and such a stark contrast f the photo of him and Julian last yr against Baylor. Sums up perfectly how incredible the turnaround in such a short time has been. Good stuff!
Power of good Rx 🙂
Haven’t u heard? It’s cause he’s gettin some now.
I heard it’s some young 20 something too.
I’m glad I no longer see Julian in Crimson and Cream.
I wish him well.
Keep your sneakers. I’ll take a W instead.

Those are fugly.
Anything with Orange on it is Fugly.
OUr gear should be Blake Griffin BB shoes and Adrian Peterson body armor.
They are Lebrons, so maybe the whole clemson team will cramp up during the game.
they’ll probably flop a lot too
I’m sure Lebron enjoyed playing at Clemson….uh…well…uh…go tigers go.
Looks like something a pimp in south side Chicago would wear.
Clown shoes anybody?

“Another fine day to be a SOONER” Still here in N.C., plenty of Tiger and Bama fans around. Tellin the Bama fans after we finish the business at hand. We are coming for them next.
Just got my tix to the game Thursday. Living here in So Fla in the heart of SEC/ACC country its amazing how many people don’t believe the Sooners are for real yet . I’ve heard talk about how talented and tough Clemson is and how they destroyed us last year . Nevermind the close calls all thru thier season . People are still snubbing OU cause thier run was against backups . I am looking forward to shutting the haters up
Their memory is a joke. Clemson beat Notre Dame and Florida State each playing with thier second string QBs.
Yup, 2 point difference with ND’s backup QB and 10 with FSU’s. Selective Memory Disorder.
This is pretty funny stuff, restaurant owner turns a burglary into a commercial about tacos

@ 2:51 “wearing this hood that doesn’t cover my whole face, but just in case you can’t see me, I’ll look in the direction of the surveillance camera”
Just saw a couple more Clemson players interviewed at half of this Military Bowl. They were both defensive players and we’re both smirking and one actually laughed about how they would handle Mayfield. I’m certain there have been many Clemson players interviewed who have been respectful but I’ve yet to read or see one personally.
For the sake of Clemson fans, I hope the Clemson players are just a bunch of jokers. A lot of this makes it seem like they aren’t taking the preparation seriously.
Why should they take it serious? OU plays with clowns while they play with 1st round draft choices at each position, and have 2nd rounders at each spot as back ups. Sooners will be lucky to keep them within 63.
That’s pretty much their attitude. Sure wish we could get some Clemson offense and defense breakdowns, their weaknesses, where we will most likely try to attack from either side of the ball.
Gonna be 15 straight 3 & outs while Clemson scores on all 15 of their possessions
Hopefully they’re taking it as seriously as we did prior to ’78 Orange Bowl. Lol.
Sooners and Frogs only consensus picks for the B12…amazingly Tech got 2/3 against the Fight’n Fournettes

I just realized this. Clemson is an AGRICULTURAL school. It’s all starting to make sense now.
Oh god… more aggies.
YES. Their “logic” makes sense now. They are really just stealth aggies.
Indeed. Clemson is going full aggie… you never go full aggie.
Of course our team may mistake them for OSU aggies, in which case I really like our chances in the game.
I’m hoping for an aggie outcome similar to the 2003 aTm game.
With an inflatable reindeer!
Then they can just “wait till next year.” OUr team will take this year instead.
There is NOTHING stealthy about a bright orange color scheme. It’s physics. It’s inevitable.
The more I read the smack talk from Clemson the more I’m realizing how much I dislike all shades of Orange. Just my luck we got/get to see it 4 times this year.
I was just reading some of the TigerNet.com crap. I think the only thing in this world with more arrogance than a Clemson TE is a Clemson fan. Some of the fans are trying to warn that the players and fans are being too arrogant, most are told to shut it, cause “OU is arrogant”. WOW!
Wow is right…I dont think I’ve read anything about any OU player saying a word about Clemson. All I’ve seen is that last year was a bad loss and it sucked etc. Maybe it’s just a fanbase trying to convince themselves that this OU team will be just like last years team. Because I can guarantee you…the Clemson coaching staff KNOWS that this is a TOTALLY different team. I think deep down they know, they got their work cut out for them. It almost feels like Clemson fan thinks we got here by default and they deserve to be here. That my friend, would be a mistake to think that.
Most of it surrounded the pressers with Sanchez and Tapper. (Not quoted, but summarized) Watson is a great QB, but we have seen it before, apparently statements like this is considered “trash talk”.
I think he’s pretty darn good too, I am actually more worried about his arm than his feet. He’s so accurate. I’m hearing from Miami that practices are going well and guys are looking crisp. Just a few more days.
Thing I have heard and noticed, is his accuracy with the intermediate route. I am not a a football guy per sey (did stay at a Holiday Inn Express at one time) but, Keep him in the pocket but with pressure. See if he can make the pass to a receiver 10-15 down field.
Very True.
Just popped over there and watched a match up video talking about how their defense will fair against our offense. The guy said OU’s offense hasn’t changed that much. I stopped right there.
I would agree with him, IF, I thought black looked like white or versa visa. 😉
With so much talk of “Clemson,” when did they lose the “p” in their name? All the good ol’ southern-boy announcers always called them Clempson.
Have 3 extra Orange Bowl tickets…
Section 107, Row 12.
Face value, if anybody wants them.
I only wish I could.
If you can send a private jet to east Texas, I can probably make it, but couldn’t take off until about noon central time. Maybe 11am.
Kyler Murray is already recruiting for OU.
Who’s he looking at?
He was recruiting Deontay Anderson Top 5 safety in the country.
Wow, well good luck to ya Mr. Murray.

Way to go Navy! Working on a win!
In honor of Coach Wilkinson, I have to pull for the Gophers.
You idiots. Deshaun Watson, aka DW4, is the greatest QB this OU team has ever faced. I mean, I get that OU’s seniors were present and played against Manziel,Golson, and Collin Klein, and the roster has faced other no-name QBs like Bryce Petty, AJ McCarron, and Trevone Boykin over the last couple of years. I also get that they see a QB in practice with production numbers nearly identical to DW4’s, but come on. Oh, and Bedlam was a good showing, sure. But did y’all see what we did to our in-state rivals? Get real.
Face it: The Gooners are in way over their head. No way they’ve faced competition nearly as stiff as the ACC. The gall of Tapper and Sanchez to speak about DW4 with anything other than slavish praise. They’re gonna get it. They have no idea what’s coming.

Is there a more negative “OU guy” than Dean Blevins? He’s a human valium.
Have you ever been to LandThieves?
Once and it was garbage.
That’s the ONLY place I have ever witnessed “more negative OU guys” than Dean Blevins.
Yeah, but those are just crazies. He’s a former player that hosts the Coach show. Just seems shady. Maybe he’s great and I’m way off base.
I don’t disagree with either statement, about the crazies or the shady part. It’s almost like “sour grapes” at times for me. I don’t listen to him any more.
That’s an interesting analysis. I thought maybe that was the case because he lost qb position to Lott due to injury and never got another shot – but if that is in fact accurate, it’s pitiful.
My memory of Dean as a player was that he was probably the “least” athletic of all the wishbone QB’s I remember. (I didn’t say worst, just not “as” athletic) He was obviously smart, not an extremely gifted passer or runner, just kind of a workman type QB, he had a very gifted surrounding cast that took a lot of the pressure off him to be an end all QB. I mean, how talented did you need to be to hand it off to Sims, Peacock and King.
I went over there a couple days ago and asked a question. Lawd! You would have thought I was a Poke the way they pounced on me!
I really don’t think dean is that negative. Maybe I missed something but he’s usually pretty close to pumping sunshine.
I’ve never seen any examples of it, but then I don’t get his radio show.
Well I wouldn’t call it a show. He’s on for about 15 minutes with Jim and Al. But I’ve never really heard him be negative about ou or even overly critical. I don’t remember his response to heupel and norvell being let go but I know Al, like a lot of the radio know it alls, were saying “the problem wasn’t the offense” and would yell this every day during the off season.
I have no idea who Jim and Al are.
Traber and eshbach
Okay. I see their names on tweets some times.
I doubt we get them on the radio here in Dallas, don’t know as I refuse to listen to sports talk radio.
If you ever decide you want to listen to sports talk radio, then you have to listen to Traber and Eschbach. Then you will go back to refusing to listen to sports talk radio.
I’m safe. Had to sit and listen to one of the Dallas sports talk shows while a passenger in a friend’s car years ago. Can’t recall the well known Dallas sports guy’s name. It scarred me for life.
I doubt you would hear them there unless it’s RRS weekend. You’re not missing anything just your typical radio shows. Traber is considered one of the better hosts though. Kind of a poor mans Colin cowherd
Man, you must be talking about Bizarro Dean or Opposite Dean. I’ve neither heard nor seen this Dean you speak of.
There’s a 50% chance you are thinking of the wrong Dean.
I have to say I don’t understand him picking the Sooners to win by 50.1%! Come on Dean you were once our quarterback! Surely you could show a little more faith in the team you’ve been underestimating all year. Not to mention even your Tulsa oartner, John Holcomb, at least put us at 66% or so.
When asked earlier on the animal which team had a chance to win convincingly, he of course said Clemson. I get that it’s just his opinion but it’s always negative UNLESS he’s on w the Coach, then he’s kissing ass.

Here is link to video of Samaje today – talking about Clemson D.
Just good ol’soft spoken Samaje. I could see where the tiggers and their fans might take offense because he didn’t seem frightened or intimidated of their defense. Why should he, he’s Perine.
Exactly ET. He even said that he didn’t want to sound disrespectful before saying last year’s D looked bigger and faster. It’s a fact that Clemson was better on the front 7 last year. He said nothing negative towards Clemson, yet they’ll make some type of bulletin board fodder out of it. I’m ready for the real game!
He said he didn’t mean to sound disrespectful in a nonchalant “I don’t care if they do” manner. LOL!
He’s Perine!
I’ll take his individual greatness over their defenses aggregate greatness any day.
Yes, and he managed to do pretty well last year without a passing offense to help clear the box. I suspect he’s “quietly confident.”
It surprises me that no one has asked for a birth certificate from Perine. He talks and looks like a grown man.
Sounded to me like he was simply stating “we are not afraid”. Love the confidence.
Perines exudes the almost giddy confidence that OU CAN RUN on Clemson effectively. I watched a replay of the FSU Clemson game. I think it looks like
OU wins this game. I’m sure Perine has watched the same film among others. I think we’ll give them fits. They are a very good team but they are not Supermen. OU rolls. The players are focused. Line em up coach!

That answers the Kyle Allen matter.
I thought it was an insightful tweet, to say the least. Thought I’d share.
Thanks for posting.
We don’t currently have a QB on the roster or committed that are statues. Cody surprised many people last year with how nimble he was for such a tall QB. Austin and Robison are highly mobile, then there is Murray with the winged feet.
Is Austin Kendall light on the feet too?
He isn’t a Murray, but he can gitit when he needs to and moves easily in the pocket or rolling out.
He was impressive in the all star game.
He was. Moves easily and confidently, no panic or wasted motion.
Just getting back from the movies with my wife; when I read that, I wondered what you would say. And there you have it.
Well, you know what happens to statues…
http://cdn.ebaumsworld.com/picture/jimbo056/Ironic.png
They do have a limits to their movement.
Did you notice the inscription on this statue?
Yeah and statues get crapped on.
etx, if you don’t mind, where and what is the statue……respond if you’d like…thxs
The one in the image?
yes, with the ‘ironic’ caption
I spent many hours trying to find out what and where it is. Found it on ‘meme irony’ years ago.
curious and interesting……….thought it might be american indian or possibly something in england and wondered about some historical significance………fenced in due to vandalism possibly……..in any event, thxs for the effort
William Wallace it’s in Scotland
thxs
So, is it final? KA not coming?
Don’t know, but personally I hope he isn’t.
Okay, thought he might have committed somewhere.
“As we recruit quarterbacks going forward” reads to me…..”I’m not going anywhere for a long time and will be turning out Heisman caliber QBs for years to come”…..and also…”Im gonna need a raise soon…”
I’m really glad I wasn’t the only one that read it that way.
Yeah, I read that too! LR did make comments the other day that he and his wife don’t like to move around, so we have that going for us too.
I don’t see him making a lateral move at all. As an OC he couldn’t be in a better spot.
Some time in January, he will have a meeting with Joe C. and he will say after said meeting “that’s a lot of kablinkey!”
I suspect we won’t let him leave simply because of money. If he leaves, it will be for the HC of a major school. Seems to me that with what the coordinators make these days, some of these guys would want to stay a coordinator and not become a HC. Head Coach is a much more political and administrative position than a coordinator, some people that are good “doers” don’t make good managers.
It seems like that’s why Venables hasn’t moved up to HC. He recognizes that he does really good work in job situation that he enjoys, and doesn’t necessarily want to jeopardize that with the challenges of being a head coach. It’s like what Mike Stoops was saying.
… and, I like the kinds of RB’s we’re able to attract here, I’m an adaptable guy
And…
I’m stacking the deck so that when I become HC at OU, we won’t skip a beat.
And another great is gone.

Ahhh…Georgia on my mind.
Peachy, ain’t they?
Yes, sir.
Cory Nelson.
So I was having a conversation with my Grandad during our family Christmas get together he is a lifetime Oklahoma fan. He was telling me that there use to be under classmen football games on Friday nights with other teams in the conference back in the day. Does anyone here remember this?
yeah, there was freshmen football games during the big 8 when fr were ineligible
Thanks! Wonder how that would work as a development tool in today’s world.
don’t remember how many games they played, remember games with the pukes……….just remembered, the freshmen team was called the boomers……….one of their biggest games was when jack mildren et al showed up the game was actually televised
Some were at night. I recall going to some of them. Plenty of places to sit.
I remember those games. One in particular. It was a night game and the Sooner freshmen were playing the Texas Tech freshman. At one point in the game they punted to us and this skinny little freshman caught it and within seconds was surrounded and enveloped by about 6 Tech players. We assumed he was down as there was no way that he wouldnt be tackled but all of sudden he pops out from behind this group of would be tacklers from the backside and takes it all the way for a TD. I turned to my friend and said I dont know who that it but that kids going to be a star. Turns out that players name was Greg Pruitt.
I saw a similar play at my brother’s game(1964). It was the UH and USAFAcademy freshmen. The kid’s name was Warren McVea, the first legit 9.5 100yd sprinter I had ever seen in person. He took a pitch, went left and was surrounded by at least six zoomies, then he magically came running out the back and took it about 70yds for a TD.
hello! goodbye!
not your answer, but it’s odd I can’t find any record for the boomers…….the deano wrote a nice article on the passing of jack mildren and there’s mention of the big boomer game he played in…..you might find it interesting if not familiar with that time…
…….http://www.news9.com/story/8373388/jack-mildren-the-quintessential-student-athlete
Thank you! After he told me about those games I went straight to google and….nada!
fyi, for future reference, soonerstats.com is a great place for history
fyi, for future reference, soonerstats.com is a great place for history
Good stuff!
I vividly remember sitting in the stands on a weeknight when Mildren’s freshman team-the Boomers-played OSU. On television! Mildren was the reason. Over 30,000 showed up. Some teams today don’t have that many season ticket holders.
Back when freshmen weren’t eligible all schools had a freshman team. My brother’s team at UH played six games.
Seems like that would be a great way to develop young players as well as another revenue stream.
Possibly. The thing is, now kids coming out of high school have so many more developmental opportunities growing up than they did before. Just look how many kids come in as true freshmen and not only compete, but excel.
i was just about to say as many camps and as much training they have its a diff type of game based on pre college preperation to where a true freshman can come in and adjust quickly
A certain Samaje Perine comes to mind.
When I started in the early 1970s I used to watch OU Freshman games on Friday nights. It was great, great fun watching the future stars.
I’d like to see them reinstate the mandatory redshirt year and start the freshman team again. It helped freshman adjust to collage life and took some of the pressure off of first year players.
I actually had a conversation about this with Joe Washington before the TCU game. He said that one of the problems was that there was not really a coaching staff for the freshman team, so there would be guys on the staff that were just told “you are the freshman coach”. That is something that I had not known.
Interesting, thanks for sharing! I wish it was reinstated as well.
I remember my Uncle talking about it. I have also read about it when I was reading about the history of OU football years ago. Did they stop not letting freshman play before they expanded the bowls and let teams go every year instead of every other year?
Didn’t watch much Clemson this year- did they face any HUNH or, up-tempo offenses at all this year?
No really. Georgia Tech will go up-tempo. But nothing like what they will see Thursday.
Pretty much the answers I was hoping for/expecting- they haven’t a clue… yet.
Pretty much the answers I was hoping for/expecting- they haven’t a clue… yet.
FSU went uptempo on them a little bit and they caught Clemson not lined up and not ready resulting in huge games. FSU isn’t a tempo team and they aren’t built for that so they were unable to sustain the tempo.
And FSU was playing with their backup QB as well in that game may have been an issue with sustaining the up tempo aspect.
N. Carolina sort of runs an up temp offense, but it is more like what Josh ran where they hurry to the line and then check for a play call. Not really close to what OU has done when they wanted to go up-tempo this year.
Clemsoning: (from Urban Dictionary)
1. The act of failing miserably on a grand athletic stage, or when the
stakes are high. 2. Record-setting failure, usually reserved for college
football.
There was an epic example of clemsoning when Clemson hosted Florida
State in a highly anticipated football game on October 19, 2013. Clemson
was ranked 3rd, while Florida State was ranked 5th. Florida State won
the game 51 – 14. Clemson set a NCAA
record for margin of defeat by a home team ranked #3 or higher. The 51
points scored by Florida State is the most points ever allowed by a
Clemson opponent on Clemson’s home field. Most of the home team fans
could not take the clemsoning any longer and left the game mid way
through the third quarter.
Let it get in their heads as history repeats itself! BOOM!
I think the thesaurus would have an optional word to use as: AGGIE Aggie and clemsoning are interchangeable.
Don’t you mean gAggie?
That term is reserved solely for the expressed use for describing direct University of Oklahoma rivals. Clemson being a “thorn in the flesh”, and arrogant pukes (I agree) seem to fit the bill, however, puking and gagging or gAgging does not entirely apply in this particular case. Arrogant, self centered, distasteful (see photo of Dumbo Swinney and his players at a grave site with tombstone engraved with OU’s name on it last year), ignorant, and many other word that are not allowed in this forum can be used as alternatives (my young grandson, reads this forum, KEEP IT CLEAN poppy). https://twitter.com/ClemsonTigerNet/status/573224668267749377
LOL! I always keep my posts clean. You will also, if you ever met me in person, never hear me saying things that are not PG. 🙂
I was not referring to you. I’m the one that spends a lot of time in the truck stops. I have to remember, to not remember, all of the trash the big boys say on the road. I’m “Poppy”.
LOL! You haven’t forgot that I own a trucking company have you? I have to forgot half the conversations I have with my guys on a daily basis. Of course I have had a couple ask me if I ever cuss, and I say very very rarely. Sometimes it might slip out, but it does not happen very often.
Some of the very best people I know use the F word as a noun, a verb, and an adjective in the same sentence. Some would stutter if not allowed the privilege. I really have to be careful.
Yeah, I have a guy that asked me why I do not cuss at them when I am upset with them. I said, that would not accomplish what I want to accomplish. He told me he would work harder to watch his language around me. I said, if you say it in front of your kids, you can say it in front of me. That really made him stop and think.
Hoping we derail the baby tigers plan Thursday!
JY has a trenching report up.
For true?
I had just about given up.
yep
JY has a trenching report up.
So the cry baby G Patterson left Baker hanging by pulling his offer the night before NSD! Patterson how do you like him now? All other Big 12 teams and coaches can suck it!
Hadn’t heard that.
OMG!
Sooners went to one of my favorite places to gorge…Fogo.

Reece Davis was just talking about all the chirping going on between us and Clemson. He said to be quite candid, most of it is coming from Oklahoma. Lol.
Rece Davis is a nob, only relevant because Fowler was promoted to prime time.
Agree. He’s a Bama grad.
Right. Because the fanbase whose team unveils a tombstone commemorating the defeat of the other team in a mid-tier bowl the year before is obviously less inclined to “chirp”. I hope this game is our most lopsided win this season. Then I’d like to pay a visit to some Clemson forums throughout the OUffseason. You know, to cash in my chirping credit.
So OUs media day is at 11am, are they gonna crush Joe with crazy questions?
yep. Mike Houck will be sitting by his side though.
Our local media has been on a binge to get their hands on Mixon. Jeni Carlson leads the way. She has placed several surveys on twitter, asking people if they want to hear from Mixon. I don’t remember a single person in any of these stupid surveys saying they want to rehash the horrible night when he hit her. She always conveniently omits the fact that the incident was a single incident by all accounts in his history before or since, that he lost it. She omits the racial slurs that were constantly barraged toward him that night. She omits the total and complete cooperation by Mixon after the fact. I’m in full agreement that he should not have hit her, but, he was given guidelines to gain grace back under the law, the OU family and to himself. He fulfilled those guidelines as set for his re-acceptance, in other words, he did the crime, he did his time. Jenny wants to re-try him in the public eye. She has become his Judge and prosecutor. I don’t think the national media has given much thought to it, I haven’t seen it if it is there, but I have seen it numerous times from NewsOK and Jeni in particular. My granny always said the “proof is in the pudding”. I think he had a moment of terrible judgement, and from his actions before and since the incident shows me, that the incident was not really the type of person he is most of the time.
Hiring Jenni was a moment of terrible judgment.
Thank you my friend. I could have saved my feeble fingers a lot of labor with a single sentence like you stated.
Brevity. 🙂
I have been completely disappointed with Jeni and her vendetta to bring down OU. She is supposed to be covering them for a newspaper that is supposed to bring positive light to the school. I refuse to read anything with her name on it!
Jason hasn’t responded to my tweet to him, he answered “most” of the others.

I gave you a follow! 🙂
I followed you right back!
And now you know my real name… Oh the humanity. LOL
Anonymity is a good thing on the internet. Some will choose to be your friend, others will choose to hurt you. I will choose the previous of the two choices. I can tell we think an awful lot alike.
Yeah, I think we do too. I have hardly ever met a Sooner fan that I did not get along with. There are a couple, but not many.
Joe said he “messed up.” He did all he was required to do in order to remain on the team and he didn’t tuck tail and run away from the matter. I like this young man.
Then there is the woman that provoked the incident. The woman who was not only on probation at the time of the incident and had a lengthy record at the age of 20, but had an arrest warrant in effect at the time. I would like to know how she has conducted her life since that fateful night. Does she still have her finger on the ‘self-destruct button’ or did the incident actually knock some sense into her?

It’s coming.
I just wish they – OU – had made him available earlier so Joe could weather the storm and move on. 2 days before game bothers me.
Is the Hoover going to be there sucking up the place?
You can bet the house he’ll be the ringleader.
I thought it juvenile of him to not attend Coach Stoops Monday press conference the day after Mixon appeared on his Sunday night show with Blevins.
The Hoover and Jenni will be eager to put their “journalistic” talents(?) on display.
