Hearing the same thing from others. Was just there myself to sign up for the audio. Looks like game thread or bust so you guys with audio or ppv keep the updates coming!! Thanks.
Check soonersports for the radio links. Have done that for the other PPV games it worked fine everytime. Fun to hear Toby Rowland get excited. He doesn’t yell “Jiminey Christmas”, but his “Whoa Momma” is pretty good. Good luck.
Radio says Stoops is livid, but they are also saying it’s the right call as the hit was into the helmet. Jordan Evans disqualified from the rest of the game 🙁
To clarify, they said it was technically the right call since it was helmet to helmet, but they don’t like the rule as there was no ill intent since QB slid (dropped down). The crowd is also livid.
the first quarter is done overall very impressed with the defense is pressure by the line and the running game and Trevor Knights leadership, he looks very comfortable.
They announced it was over 85,000 and another sell out. We were packed in so tight it felt like an OU vs Nebraska game of old. The crowd was loud the first half, but seemed to go to sleep with the team in the second half.
Been really impressed with this entire team so far…executing really well. Knight and Striker have really stood out to me though. Knight looks to have picked up where he left off with Bama, and Striker seems like he is in the backfield disrupting the play on EVERY snap.
And OU is playing very vanilla right now. Not going deep but a few times and not dialing up any crazy blitzes like against Alabama. Keeping it all close to the vest.
absolutely, and you can see the formations that Heupel is using is going to create nightmares for future DC’s. So many different things he can do. I have a good feeling about this team.
I am really excited by all the freshmen that are playing early for the Sooners. WRs are catching the ball and blocking well. RBs are running hard and the OL has kept Knight clean.
They will say it was vs. LA. Tech, not a real team. Continue to expect TK to not get any love, and I hope they continue to malign his ability. Keep him hungry with something to prove.
I’m (not) interested to see how they will justify Alabama’s struggle with a Big 12 team that went 4-8 last year while not giving any credit to the overall strength of the Big 12. Probably Alabama beating itself.
Not to worry, OU would have to be ahead by more than 70 points for Stoops to take the starting qb out before the 4th quarter, especially early in the season. :
You guys, there are some rules regarding this. I have seen that somewhere, but can’t find it. I think he can play a couple games and still be okay to redshirt.
I guess they thought Shep let the ball hit the ground, but it sure looked like he turned his hands so he had a hand under the ball and dragged his foot for an incredible td.
A combo of 1st and second teamers. Sanchez, Wilson and Hayes are in, but now guys like Parker, Gastelem ( in for Evans after his ejection), Bond, and the second team DL guys.
Love seeing all the guys out there for the Sooner D tonight. Gastelum got some good time tonight which will help him later in the season as a sub for Jordan Evans. Finish this up and get ready for Tulsa.
Starters performed well, meeting Kool-Aid expectations! Provided lots of PT for the 2nd & 3rd string! Great game despite not getting the shutout or the half a hunnerd.
About Bell getting hurt, I’m not certain it was a head injury. Watching the replay of the pass interference, it looked like when he hit the ground his right arm was underneath his torso. Of course, I’m hoping there isn’t any serious injury of any kind.
Takeaways.
1. D-line was outstanding
2. Knight looked good, but looks like he will get better after another game or two.
3. O-line looked great.
4. WR definitely has talent, just needs experience. (Shepard was great)
5. Ross-Dang good, Ford-Excellent, Perine-Manchild
The timing between Knight and the receivers were a bit off tonight but they will get that corrected during practice next week. It was a good game with the usual sloppy play but expected for the first game.
This is a very underrated statement. The amount of the playbook being used is a huge contributor IMO. Opening it up puts much more stress on the defense and less on the WR.
Hate to say it but WR looks to be enough to keep us from the mountain top. Hopefully, they show a lot more soon. If we stay Shep and nobody else, we could lose 3-4 games. The Big XII looks to be tougher than expected, and don’t sleep on KSU or UT. We can do better. Mead didn’t show any desire and the others had a problem getting open against a bad team. First game, so let’s hope it’s jitters. Man, DGB makes us contenders, I think.
Agreed. I see that they did, but it bugs me when we do that too early. Should never take throttle off until 4th quarter. Our ability to not only dominate the game, but also dominate the NUMBERS, is what could get us in/leave us out of playoffs…
What I liked about it, though, was that during the press conference, you could hear Bob’s confidence in how much better the Sooners were than LA Tech. When they asked him if the multiple D lineman rotation was something we should get used to seeing, Stoops’ answer was something like: “We did it because we knew we could”. I think this could’ve been another North Texas 2007 type game…
the 2nd half of this game made me wonder… You think there is some kind of “Throttle Clause” being written into these “tune-up” contracts??? Like, “sure, we will play you, you will pay us, and agree not to hang 80 on us in 3 quarters…”
Oh, I’m definitely joking. That statement couldn’t be more dripping with sarcasm if I tried. I was cynically laughing at that description ESPN gave to the game.
(1) I think Young and Neal both showed some stuff…
(2) Our backups both played pretty well
(3) In the passing game. I think they showed a lot blocking…
My favorite play without re-watching the game was when Perine plowed several players into the end zone. It was like he said hang on tight boys, you’re going with me.
You will love the running backs. We are loaded! Ross had a really nice kick return debut also. Tight end play is still a question as is receiver production but I’m willing to chalk some of that up to game jitters. The talent is there, just need to calm down and get it done.
Yeah knight needs a few more games to get on the same page with all the receivers/tight ends. Good thing is is they shouldn’t be tested much until the RRS. I think tenn, wvu and tcu will be tough but nothing this team shouldn’t overcome in the 2nd halves.
Looked like they really wanted him to get on the same page with mead unfortunately no catches on 3 or 4 targets.
Knight and Shep looked good but other than that the receivers looked average. Mead was a let down, they gave him chances and although the passes weren’t the best, he didn’t show the tough catch ability that we need. I’m hoping it was just nerves and him and all the others settle down and start making the tough catches.
Shep and Neal both looked good and so did KJ as far as their timing with knight. Mead and quick and smallwood just need more time. Hopefully with them playing Tulsa next week, smallwood and mead can ball out with their families probably attending.
The running backs were very impressive. And I like that they used them in the pass game more with flares and swings than using screens like they did last year with the smaller backs.
Btw finch was cut today hopefully he gets picked up and at least makes a practice squad
I know he got targeted 3 times on one possession and it ended with an int. I think he may have gotten another target or 2 later on. But I think he will be much more productive against Tulsa it’s a homecoming for him.
I’ve told friends for a while and I’ll say it here, Perine is going to be one of the Sooner greats that we will talk about for years. He was not even the feature back in the opener yet was the leader in yards gained.
Thinking you might be right. How many past RBs at OU made debuts in their first game as a true frosh? And then there’s Flowers. Ford is pretty good and Ross is alreet but PEErine is gonna be the real deal.
His weight is distributed differently than say …Perine…I’m not ready to give up on him…just one game…coaches have seen him the last few years and named him co starter on the depth chart…he must be a decent runner and worthy of carrying the ball else he wouldn’t be out there
I think he’s capable of going 80 yards without being touched, which is why the coaches named him co-starter.
His weight distribution has nothing to do with it, it has everything to do with running upright and not keeping “a good pad level”. You stay behind your pads until you’re in the open field, and then lean forward to turn on the jets…
Agree. If anything, he either isn’t seeing the creases or doesn’t have enough change of direction to get there. On another site someone likened him to Damien Williams…large speed back who needs a large hole but can house it once he’s through.
Correct. I had the opportunity to watch him in HS, he wasn’t even a running back all his life. He was known for speed and his kick return ability. He’s one of those guys who needs space. We have tough inside runners, he will be a compliment on the edge.
Overall I am well pleased with tonight’s victory.
The effort and skills were evident in the O and D line’s play.
Was not concerned with the inexperienced RBs and wasn’t surprised by their performances.
Glad to see so many young players and back ups get significant playing time.
Not at all pleased to see so many dropped passes. If they aren’t, the WRs need to hit the tennis ball machine like Ryan Broyles and Kenny Stills used to do.
The coaches will have lots of important teaching moments to go over.
Agree fully. Line play, on both sides, was very good. RBs great. Need to get those WRs consistent at catching the ball 1st and then making a play. Good first game. Am sure we saw very little of the playbook.
On talent alone this game was never in doubt. It was important to get the young guys on the field so the game will slow down and they can breathe properly. Based on what we saw today with WVU and Okie St it’s going to be long and grinding conference schedule and that depth will be vital.
A quick shout out to Aaron Franklin from my home town. Glad to see him on the field quite a bit in the 2nd half and making some plays. For a 6’1″ 226lb LB with 4.4 speed he really showed it tonight as he was fast, quick and more decisive on his keys than I’ve seen him since he has been at OU. I think that is true for a lot of players in the second year of the 50 defense.
Good input on Franklin. Guy gets a bad rap for unk reason. Has size, speed. Just needs reps to get the game slowed down, as you said? Sure could use him playing at a high level.
They’ve been like that forever now it seems. They spend 10 minutes on Alabama and show a 20 second highlight for OU. When Alabama is going to lose 2 games probably this year
The only time I’ll watch for OU related stuff on espn is if we are playing or just beat the big bad wolf and watch Bob raise the crystal…Ill watch the heisman if we have somebody representing also
There is no point in watching them anymore, Fox sports 1 is so much better. Content, coverage, and for the most part their news anchors are way better.
eSECspin has controlled the sports news for so long now though, they’re just going to do pump the sec and the defending champs all they can. Hopefully before too long peoples eyes will open and they’ll see that thee is more to college football than the southeast part of the country.
ESECPN isn’t going to speak of OU unless we lose or squeek by an “inferior” opponent. This is what really scares me about a “committee” and all the damn bias out there.
OK. Now need updates on when the full replay is going to be shown. Heard Mon at 12AM on Fox Sports Network? If you get some info on that, please share it. Have watched and re-watched highlights after listening to the game. Am fully stoked about this team.
Yeah, I know…look, I’m all for everyone having equal rights and being proud of who they are…but if you can’t cut it in the league it has nothing to do with your sexuality. I think it has less to do with his sexuality and more to do with the idea that ESecPin will make you a star, even if you can’t cut it, as long as you played for an SEC team back in the day.
And now nobody picks him up and ESPN and civilians will say shame on the clubs for not picking him up, when if they’d look in the mirror they’d know that no club’s gonna want to deal with the circus
That’s a really good point. Even if he would fit into some team’s scheme, it would be just begging for media overload in you locker room. They may have ruined this guy’s career.
Appreciate it toats but I saw it live so I’m gonna record the Big Twelve no huddle version as I do for all the games. It’s nice to have the season recorded and all games are in a one hour format.
I said it and it hurts but Trevor was sloppy good….The Real Oklahoma hangs half a hundred by half and either shuts them out or only allows 11 or less. I’m not looking for a ledge to leap off and you could see we were focused on the running game….but it’s either first game jitters or OK has one hell of a large playbook…if they get it figured out by RRR we could be looking at one powerful team…love the throws to the running backs those are some bad dude’s in open space..
Good win.
I would have to disagree, was he perfect? no but I thought he had good control of the offense, made good throws all night. He had some low balls that were blocked but he I think did great.
Not slamming anyone or calling anyone out, we just have to remember that this offense is replacing 90% of it’s rushing from last year, which looks like we will be fine there. And were replacing about 70% of the receiving from last year. All with guys who’ve played very limited roles. Hopefully things get rolling by the time we play texas.
As young as this team is and how quickly they seem to be growing up, I am well pleased and expect to see a dramatic jump in overall execution.
Lots of room for improvement and I am encouraged about that. The effort, focus and health of the team were what I was looking for and I was not disappointed.
Was glad to see so many young players get significant playing time. A huge bonus.
Kind of expected their defense to look that bad after their QB threw for 300+ yards against their defense in the spring game. Still confused as to why they thought that was a good thing.
So, judging by the fans over at Smoking Musket, the WVU fan page, they’re buying into the notion that bama is actually a top 2 team. They believe that OU poses no real threat and that the most of their worries are over for the season…trying hard not to laugh…
What little I saw of that game I was reminded that we have to go there this year.
The way some of our conference teams played yesterday this year will be a grind if we plan on making the playoff.
Spent a few hours running the replay back and forth. Aaron Franklin played really well, as East Tex said. Leading tackler 3-3 and a qb hurry. Would like to see him get more minutes. Cant’ wait for JY’s Trench Warfare. A lot of good stuff on the oline. Savage and Shead and Evans had great games inside. Bell played well w/o the ball, made some key blocks.
Franklin is Dom’s back up and watching the replay Dom had a really good game in the first half. Just good to know that Franklin can provide quality at LB if Dom needs a breather.
One play that really impressed me was the blitz pick up that Ford made when TK threw to Young for a first down. You could hear the pads popping when Ford stepped and blocked the blitzer.
To me, Ford is the more complete back. Ross can hit the edge and stretch a defense but Ford does it all. Loved the play where the entire backfield split out and Ford went to slot. He got blasted but held on and bounced up. Am lovin’ how he plays and how physical the entire offense is becoming.
The defense played well overall. Especially the starters, it will be nice to see what Evans does in the next game. I thought that was a horrible call but we have to live with the call. I thought Wilson looked good out on the edge as did Sanchez.
That ejection on Evans, if that is how they are going to call it now they should go ahead and issue bras, tutus and beanies with tiny propellers to the defense. The QB was more responsible for the trajectory of the hit than Evans was and it wasn’t even that much contact.
Wilson must have done well, never even saw him mentioned until their #4 put that wicked move on him.
I was very pleased to see Thomas and Byrd both make some good plays.
At the game I thought it was a pretty bad call. I was on the plane with the ref who made the call today. Nice guy. He said he lowered his head, and that’s what did it.
Cool coincidence. I still think it was a bs call. If he hadn’t started to go down, Evans would have hit him in the chest, with his shoulder. Don’t know why that can’t take that stuff into account before kicking a kid out of the game…
I noticed Wilson out of position a couple of times, but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of his play. I’m no expert by any means, but he looked pretty good for his first game at CB. And, I agree with the call. My grandma could play now and not have to worry about getting hurt!
Does anyone know if they blackout ALL radio too now? I know it aired on the normal stations in Oklahoma (107.7, 1520, 97.5, etc…) but Those same stations online would not (could not) air the game! I live in Denver, so OU on tv is usually out for me, but I have always been able to get radio online through Tunein radio, but now they have taken this away and it really got on my nerves! First time in YEARS I havent been able to listen to post/pregame, or the whole damn game! (luckily I found a link to watch online, but man, they take away radio now!?)
Thanks to one of the posters onn here I finally got a link that worked to KNED McAlister. It was on TuneIn, too, I think but couold not get the app to stream on my phone.
No offense/slight meant: wvu & osu had an entire offseason to prep & work on weaknesses in fsu/bama film. They played well, represented the conference well, but when you months to game plan?!!? It’s no coincidence, just like bowl prep..
FSU/Bama had the entire offseason to prep as well. I think WVU and OSU did a fantastic job and scared the sh*t out of the “top two” teams in the country. The reality is, there isn’t a conference out there that can shut down BIG XII offenses even if they’re the better team/defending champion. FSU is highly vulnerable to the HUNH offense I don’t care how many games they’ve won in a row or by how much. Bama still is too.
While true, generally the longer prep time favors the under dog. And for the record, I actually said 2 wks I expected osu to keep it under 10 points. Too many things in their favor. I can find the tweet 🙂

OK, how can I listen to this game if I am in KC?? I just moved here and not having my OU in week 1 is lame…
I’m at a watch party in KC
Jordan, that would be epic… not in the cards for me sadly…
IHeart Radio app should get you there
nope, none of the stations carry Sooner Sports Radio with online streams…:(
that’s the same problem I’m finding. The one local Dallas radio station I can reach (non-online), but it’s really weak and full of static.
KCLI-1320
Hey. FYI. Cody Thomas is out. Justice Hansen will play back up.
source for this?
TFB twitter
thanks….I don’t twitter, so I didn’t know.
oh, no worries 🙂
usually you post it…..where is it…..thxs
Uh oh. And TK has not proven himself durable. No depth at ILB and now this. Scary.
And it’s not like Hansen is the epitome of durablility, as he had a couple injuries his senior year.
Play Frank Shannon!!! Boomer!!!
BOOMER!
I paid for the online version of the PPV and cannot access soonersports.com
Hearing the same thing from others. Was just there myself to sign up for the audio. Looks like game thread or bust so you guys with audio or ppv keep the updates coming!! Thanks.
Check soonersports for the radio links. Have done that for the other PPV games it worked fine everytime. Fun to hear Toby Rowland get excited. He doesn’t yell “Jiminey Christmas”, but his “Whoa Momma” is pretty good. Good luck.
Entire Soonersports.com is not working
well that’s just fantastic
Hopefully this works. I was able to access it and copied the link for the radio stations. Let me know if it worked.

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/gametracker/live/NCAAF_20140830_LATECH@OKLA
Trevor knight hesitated on the pass to ford but hit flowers. Still got 8 yds and then the td after. I like the play calling as well for the 1st drive.
8 plays 70 yds for the 1st td
Sounds like Perine has already made an appearance along with Flowers..2 true frosh.
Couldn’t have ben a better first drive of the season!
Defense is penetrating the backfield
Wow, 3 guys hit him in the backfield.
BOOM! God I wish I could watch or even listen to this
Striker stays in the backfield tech is punting
Alright, I’m ready to pull our starters to prevent injury!
so, so, so good to have No. 80 back
I want to see more of our dual running backs both looked good.
For those that want to watch 1) download vlc media player 2) drag and drop the link from http://www.wiziwig.tv/competition.php?part=sports&discipline=americanfootball into vlc player (you will see oklahoma link) 3 enjoy the damn near crystal clear stream

SOONER!
Sooner!
I guess Trevor can throw deep
nice touch for sure
Wish I could watch the game! Seems like all is well so far.
Defense has been very disruptive. Heupel play calling has been very good so far.
Thanks for the update!
No problem
I posted how to watch it fellas
Not to get too ahead of myself, but imo this is the best we have looked in an opener on both sides of the ball in a long time.
Yeah, I hate when we start flat against freakin’ UTEP. This is MUCH better.
1 yd…
not anymore!
LOL!
Big run by tech
Again 1) download VLC media player, takes 1 minute. 2) go to http://forum.wiziwig.eu/threads/91005-2014-NCAA-Football-Week-1-Streaming-amp-Discussion and scroll down to the Oklahoma vs LA tech stream, and drag the VLC link into the VLC media player and enjoy
Thanks tiger6 but I don’t see the link to to drag into the media player
Bet Sokol won’t do that again.
targeting….dang it!
On the one position we couldn’t afford it
Radio says Stoops is livid, but they are also saying it’s the right call as the hit was into the helmet. Jordan Evans disqualified from the rest of the game 🙁
To clarify, they said it was technically the right call since it was helmet to helmet, but they don’t like the rule as there was no ill intent since QB slid (dropped down). The crowd is also livid.
Wow!!!!
who was it? does that mean they’re suspended for the rest of the game and next game?
Jordan Evans, the guy playing for Frank Shannon. Our thinnest spot.
Evans and yes
That sucks
Dang it! was going for the chest, but Sokol slid. Very close, but he is gone!
That’s some bull
Bob doesn’t like it.
that call was so lame
Dang, Gris kicked it!
Evans is lost for the 1st half against tulsa. Well this is the best time as any to see what Gastelum can do.
I thought b/c it was first half he will be able to start against Tulsa
What a chicken sh!t call on Evans. The qb slid and turned, whats he supposed to do? Extremely irritating call.
Gotta regroup and get nasty right now.
He can cover.
Caleb Gastelum almost intercepts.
blocked the kick
La Tech try 51 yd FG blocked by Sanchez and Striker brings it to the LA Tech 43.
Last blocked FG was in ’04 per radio broadcast.
Sanchez with the field goal block
Perine!!!! For 8yds
They put him in much earlier than I thought they would. That says a lot considering the talent “ahead” of him.
BAM!
Perine is huge back there.
Literally!
Quick is the game.
Yup, OU is going serious up-tempo. Good to see
Trevor is looking good back there!!!!!
Wow, Knight 100% completion rate!
Until now. I want Neal to have a big season so bad
I’m just gonna keep my mouth shut…
You are killing me Toats!
I know…I know…I’m done.
its ok…was just thinking the same thing…lol.
don’t fall in love with the fade, josh
Boomer!!
Sooner!
TD #3 for OU, #2 for Ford!
Ford with the td he ran through that wall
Dionte Savage’s arms look like tree trunks wow!
Ah, we’re back to the days of scoring 3 TDs in the first quarter. Nice!
1st Qtr now officially over! 21-0, as it should be 🙂
Has anyone noticed that Striker is always in the backfield?
I’m just listening to the radio so I can’t tell… 🙁
This team looks hungry. You can tell they are playing with a chip on their shoulder. Have to credit the coaches and captains for how hungry we look.
Truly ‘bringin’ the wood’ so far. Lumberjacks.
the first quarter is done overall very impressed with the defense is pressure by the line and the running game and Trevor Knights leadership, he looks very comfortable.
The decent run by Dixon and the ejection of Evans are the only negatives for the D in that quarter.
run by dixon as the first play with the second string d in
Got the game on, synced with the OU broadcast on the computer. Pretty cool. thought I’d check in.
Any complaints?! LOL
Wow.
Its nice to see this team come out with something to prove and not juist go through the motions.
Sanchez with the int
Sanchez could have 6 ints this year
Alex Ross looks good!!!!
WR’s blocking has been world class
Ross took a hard one .
1st punt.
Nope, Moneycutt.
I am glad he made that Toats….for your sake. LOL
LOL! I didn’t think it would be this hard!!!
Ok…
Knight to quick but went through his hands here comes munnycutt
Cent Ark takes lead over the fighting kliffberries 10-7
#ontherise…
LOL!!!
But they sure look good in those ‘greys’.
They got uni’s we got natty’s.
let’s get a good punt return
The scary thing is this Oklahoma team had been pretty vanilla with the play calls.
Hoping they will unleash all he!! on Vols with stuff they can’t even imagine.
Who’s been taking Evan’s place? Is it Gastelum?
JH is being JH and not FUJH, keep it up!
LOL! it must have been the nachos clouding his judgement last season! Glad he ditched’em!
Cent Ark now up 17-7. #stilltimeFeheko
Coach Gosling AND pretty uni’s…I guess looks only go so far…
LA Tech 1st 5 possessions:
1 – 3 & out
2 – 3 & out
3 – FB Blocked
4 – Interception
5 – 3 & out
find a clear passing lane…
KJ Young made 1st career catch which converted a 3rd down, while Ford picked up a blitz…
priceless
love going for it twice on 4th down
Appears that ball slipped out of Knights hand and La Tech recovered. (Commercial break while they review)
It was a fumble. First turnover of the season…
Nope, fumblerusky.
Really bad attempt at the statue of liberty?
Would be hilarious if they reversed the call and called it incomplete. LOL
I’m trying to make up for the other times!!
nope
What was the turnout @ the stadium for the game?
I don’t know, but it sounds loud!
They announced it was over 85,000 and another sell out. We were packed in so tight it felt like an OU vs Nebraska game of old. The crowd was loud the first half, but seemed to go to sleep with the team in the second half.
The BIrdman cometh…
or ByrdMan…you get the idea
Let’s do some more work out of the diamond……drive this down their throats. Their DL has to be gassed.
I’m ready to see more of Samaje Perine
I’ve been pronouncing his name all kinds of wrong…
Let’s just call him BAM BAM!!
Baby House!
Why is Evans out the 1st half of Tulsa I thought that only happened if they were ejected in the second half
La Tech Possession #6: 3 & out (5 yards gained); 4th 3 & out
OKST is not making things easy for Jimbo so far…
If only wVu cold have beaten that team from alabama…
spoke too soon :(, should have known better than to have so much faith in lil bro
BOOM
Perine just trucked two guys….nice
Perine = BEAST
That’s it! Let’s just call him Beast!
reminds me of Henry at bama
With better lateral movement
Perrine is a MAN!!!!
FSU just got a pick 6…10-0
Perinec is a beast! !
yeah, dude is going to be special. He’s a monster.
spreading the ball well it seems, and decent run/ratio….we need a nickname perine..or hell just make his name a verb..” the defender got perine’d” 🙂
is bell mop up so we don’t burn the redshirt?
that would make sense, or just run the wildcat, with the RB’s
Hansen can play if needed. It is a more about games played. As long as he only plays in 3 games early, he can still redshirt.
thats a good point. i wouldn’t think you’d wanna waste some time this early when you didn’t have to
knight to bell would be great to hear
yep, I keep waiting to hear that too, and bet the crowd erupts on that too!
clemson georgia in a dawgfight …pun intended
Ford….Ross…..Perine….aka CERBERUS!
Nice!
zing!
TD Ross!!!
BOOMER!
SOONER!
SOONER!!!
Looks like 52 yards of the 72 yard drive were rushing yards.
Parker in the game!
I love all the backups that are getting in….DJ Ward, Parker, Obo, Peterson, Dimon, Walker, Romar, Lindley, Thomas, Byrd….and on and on and on
Its about time! I wondered when Bob would take advantage of mop up duty.
no doubt….usually it’s like 1:15 left in the 4th before we see anyone….this is great.
Wow, just got it over Obo. dang
La Tech with 4 straight pass completions trying to score before the end of the half. La Tech timeout.
C’mon pick 6!
pick 6 comin!!!
Tech in the red zone
Has OU gotten a sack today?
Matt Dimon with sack, good timing on the question!! Striker almost got him.
That’s how you do it Toats. LOL
Taking notes…
Just did
Would not mind another blocked FG
dang!
You’ve contracted my bad luck….
yours is curable with antibiotics……Esco’s is like the ebola of bad juju
AS long as he isn’t at the game….he isn’t, is he?
Correct. Like Ebola there has to close proximity
wanted the shutout
me too
La Tech makes 36 yard FG, ruined my desire for a shutout. 🙁
me too!
We’re going to need some help…
to reach 1,000 comments on this thread.
Well, it’s still better than that other site…
I agree, it was also a Shoutout to KT-Raida’s comment at the beginning of the post requesting the 1000.
we got time
theres one more 🙂
Yes I now got the game
grrr:)
Mike Stoops must be livid that the defense allowed La Tech to drive down the field passing with time running out. I mean, they knew that was coming…
2nd team for the most part, but yeah, he won’t be happy.
As much as would have loved to have had a shutout, I’ll take all the experience the non-starters are getting in this game.
I’m sure he will be in some ears during half. Good for him to have something to get fired up about… 🙂
pokes are being pokes against FSU
I really like the way we are playing for the most part. look forward to seeing what we do for the second half
Is that the Louisiana Tech Rented Mules???? Gonna leave a mark………
Um… Not sure anyone mentioned this yet, but, uh… BOOMER!
AND SSSOOONNNNEERRRR!!!!!!!
SOONER!!!!
coach Merv has been waxing poetic about OBO during the first half…
Knight in mid season for could be very dangerous!
I have seen 1 highlight on EsecSPN so far….sarcasm intended
they did add fl st to their repertoire
Ford Tough. Boss Ross. Smash Perine. Or, “Tough”, “Boss”, and “Smash” if you’re into the whole brevity thing.
El-SMASH-erino?
Smash hungry!
How ’bout “Snap”, “Crackle”, and “Pop”?
That would be the bones of LA Tech players.
ALL opposing teams for the entire season!
True dat!
just smash works.
I am really excited by all the freshmen that are playing early for the Sooners. WRs are catching the ball and blocking well. RBs are running hard and the OL has kept Knight clean.
Hope there will be an extensive highlight reel on YouTube soon after the game…
If anyone can find the whole game, even better.
In a few days it will be on FSN somewhere.
I found where Fox Sports Southwest currently has it scheduled for 1AM Thursday morning (or Wednesday night for us night owls)
Huff99, or Huff100 usually has it a few hours post game time
look for HolaKyle
isnt KolaHyle(or something like that) really good for those ?
Sweet!
would like to see OU pound the rock at the LTU D when they get the second half kickoff.
So if you’re Stoops, what are your goals for the second half?
Everyone scores a TD
THAT LOOKED LIKE IT HURT JUST A LITTLE…
Knight is slinging that thing! !!
TD, TD, TD, FG, Fumble, TD…not too shabby!
omg the no-call on Brice
Can you be more specific? Is that the FSU left tackle?
Brice LATech, helmet to helmet hit on Ford…
Ah, didn’t spring for PPV. That reminds me though, was the Evans’ ejection legit?
meh… I don’t think he was targeting, he was going for the midsection and QB dropped his posture late, made it look worse than it really was…
Thanks for the info.
Tweezy…….Too easy!!
BOOM!!!
OMG, Toby did not just use the term “guns blazing”
time for mop up duty for the QB position…..
Hope so, don’t take any chances
So, ESPN, does TK9 still need to prove that the Sugar Bowl wasn’t a fluke?
Of course. He’ll have to prove it all season long.
Hey, it was only two games…
sarcasm included
I recognize the font well…
yes because…..sec
They will say it was vs. LA. Tech, not a real team. Continue to expect TK to not get any love, and I hope they continue to malign his ability. Keep him hungry with something to prove.
And expect Hundley to still get Heisman love, despite that showing earlier. That was pathetic.
hill and sims will get massive amounts of coverage because sec and who they replaced. knight will get 11 seconds and yes on hundley
I’m (not) interested to see how they will justify Alabama’s struggle with a Big 12 team that went 4-8 last year while not giving any credit to the overall strength of the Big 12. Probably Alabama beating itself.
Well, Holtz spit out that Bama was just “relaxing” against WVU, and that’s how they were able to stay in the game so long.
LOL. It will never change. Not even when they end up with 3 losses this year…
So Alabama has lost to the spread to 2 straight BigXII teams. Overrated???
Of course not, it was a consolation game for last year. You couldn’t expect them to be excited for this game.
They looked AWFUL today. Against wVu…
I’d like to see Bell score a few TDs.
Him, and maybe Brooks and Smith as well (those are our other RBs, right?)
I would honestly like knight to stay out there and get more reps. If they were getting pressure I’d say nay.
Not to worry, OU would have to be ahead by more than 70 points for Stoops to take the starting qb out before the 4th quarter, especially early in the season. :
Wow, OU DL in the backfield.
But take Phillips out
Just did
Sokol is feeling the pressure
Obo has been great tonight
One of my guys!
Hey Jordan, will you have post-game thoughts for those of us who can’t watch? Maybe a weekend breakdown as well, once everything has played out?
and he is only a frosh
I would feel better if ALL our studs spent the rest of the game riding pine.
there goes Mead’s redshirt
Guess they need more depth?
was that necessary (in this game)?
You mean, he can’t play three games and get the red shirt?
You guys, there are some rules regarding this. I have seen that somewhere, but can’t find it. I think he can play a couple games and still be okay to redshirt.
Ace or JY may know something about this. Darlington was the center of a redshirt situation and it was about the number of games he played.
I love the coaches killer instinct!!!!!
damn wiscy scored quick on the mighty sec…i mean LSU
If we had Mixon this year it wouldn’t be fair
Jeff Mead- the praying mantis….lol even my wife laughed
HA!My wife laughed at that comment 🙂
Okie lite back within 10…
shhh, don’t jinx them…
Time to get another beer!
or 2
for me beer, then rum, then beer, then rum…wash rinse repeat 🙂
Lost my radio signal. Down to the ESPN Gamecast and this thread.
Try KNED
awesome thanks. i’ve tried every other station i think
That worked!! Thanks a million!!
I guess they thought Shep let the ball hit the ground, but it sure looked like he turned his hands so he had a hand under the ball and dragged his foot for an incredible td.
That should have been a TD. would have been highlight #1, or should be
Not in the ABC/ESPN/Disney World….
no doubt
beast
Charles Walker for the TFL!! Anybody draft him?
you know it
FSU takes a 7pt. lead into half…17-10
Make that 7 points for Okie-lite
OMG will ESPIN STHU about Smack Clown and winning in 2005!!!
It’s just not Sooner football without at least one defensive time out…
no it is not
gut check for the defense right here. Let’s keep ’em out of the endzone guys!
Which string is in right now?
a little curious we haven’t seen Smallwood
And what about Woods? Has he been in?
ask and you shall receive
Knights footwork looks awesome… As it did in the Alabama game. I’m hoping we have a dominant deep threat wr rise up this year
How many sacks have we had?
Sacks?
We haven’t had any sacks?
LOL!
I’m not sure…
Maybe 1
More than one but not as many as I expected
2 that I know of…Dimon had 1
great return!
Smallwood in
Perine….Wow!!!##
+1000
SMASH MOUTH FOOTBALL!!
BOOM!
PE-rine
Is Striker ok?
why?
When he came out earlier he acted a bit gimpy. I could be wrong.
He was limping
That’s what I thought. Also, Kasitati hasn’t played. News on him?
All 3 RB’s with a TD tonight! Anybody have that as one of the predictions?
Are they pronouncing perines name right? I always thought it was always ‘pur-een’
PEA-rine
Interviews between Toby and Bob Stoops, it was discussed as PEA-rine
if you go to soonersports.com; football; roster, you can hear the pronounciation.
Me too. And I don’t know
Gotta get to half a hunnerd!
I was thinking the same thing lol
Perine must not have ate enough for pre-game meal….#playing hungry !
Hey, can anyone watching the game let me know which D is in? Cause we’re giving up a lot of big plays all of a sudden.
quite awhile ago they announced only starters in were Sanchez and Hayes. Don’t know if that’s still the case, but lots of young guys in ,
Pretty sure Jordan Thomas took over for Sanchez.
Actually I think that Thomas took over for Wilson, but a bunch of guys have played, so it’s all good.
Wilson was out with Thomas on a few snaps for sure.
A combo of 1st and second teamers. Sanchez, Wilson and Hayes are in, but now guys like Parker, Gastelem ( in for Evans after his ejection), Bond, and the second team DL guys.
Thanks. I assumed it was a lot of younger guys, but wanted to make sure. Who seems to be giving up the big plays?
They’ve played about everyone. I think they may send Marquise Overton to the locker room to dress out.
I bet Diaz is tired of OU
LOL Coach Merv…tackling Perine is like trying to tackle a hog….you can’t get to his legs.
WHY IS KNIGHT STILL IN??????
never coming out before the third series 4th q…unless an imposter has taken Stoops spot…
hopefully that is not a sign that Thomas still has a sore shoulder
They have no one to back him up Thomas is hurt. Probably don’t want burn Hansen RS
With Alvarez in and now Feo, if you’re gonna play the twos on OL, get someone in rather than your starting QB.
Game experience. Help him get reps with younger WRs in a game environment.
Smallwood sighting! There you go Jordan.
OU with 167 on the ground and Knight 227 throwing so far. Not bad. Love the downhill run game!!! plus getting this D ramped up.
Burned Alvarez’s shirt
Jordan, guys can play a certain amount and still retain their redshirt. I am sure of that.
I’m aware but if you’re playing guys this early intention probably isn’t to redshirt. they can, as you’ve said, but only time will tell.
Cuntry cuzins within 3 20-17
LAWL
FSU lookin like donkey a$$…
but if they win its just getting the kinks out
Yup…
OSU seems to have a way of making teams do that.
Love seeing all the guys out there for the Sooner D tonight. Gastelum got some good time tonight which will help him later in the season as a sub for Jordan Evans. Finish this up and get ready for Tulsa.
Sweet tackle by Stanvon! Good stuff
wish sanchez would have wrapped up like that on that dixon TD
Welp, that’ll do it…
2 4th qt tds but its ok cause it gives mike something to yell about and the boys something to work on
Wisconsin is up on the mighty LSU and OSU I only down 3 to FSU …. seems the preseason rankings might be a little off
Fsu just scored they are up by 10 .
wow. that ball looks out
Yeah, lil bro got screwed on that call.
better them than us i always say
Couldn’t agree more!
1-0. Happy football season, all!!
Starters performed well, meeting Kool-Aid expectations! Provided lots of PT for the 2nd & 3rd string! Great game despite not getting the shutout or the half a hunnerd.
I think I’m most excited about the 2nd and 3rd string guys getting some PT. That’s invaluable!
And no injuries!!! Assuming Striker’s limp and Bell helmet hit aren’t significant. Those are the only “injuries” I heard discussed.
About Bell getting hurt, I’m not certain it was a head injury. Watching the replay of the pass interference, it looked like when he hit the ground his right arm was underneath his torso. Of course, I’m hoping there isn’t any serious injury of any kind.
BOOMER!
SOONER!
hey, you know what? BOOMER!
SOONER!!!!
TX Tech (at home) barely beat Central Arkansas 42-35. CA had over 400 yds of offense on the “mighty” raiders
kliff out-douched the scottie pippens?
#turntup
Takeaways.
1. D-line was outstanding
2. Knight looked good, but looks like he will get better after another game or two.
3. O-line looked great.
4. WR definitely has talent, just needs experience. (Shepard was great)
5. Ross-Dang good, Ford-Excellent, Perine-Manchild
Oh, and one more. I never even thought twice about the play-calls. Nice job Heupel.
The timing between Knight and the receivers were a bit off tonight but they will get that corrected during practice next week. It was a good game with the usual sloppy play but expected for the first game.
Also just a thought. Knight will probably look more comfortable when they open the playbook up a little more.
Bet they get past 50 on Tulsa.
I think they took the foot off the throttle on this one. Could’ve been much worse!
Agree completely!! They poured it on for almost the entire first half, then turned it into an official scrimmage for most of the non-starters.
Like, “sure, we will play you, you will pay us, and agree not to hang 80 on us in 3 quarters…”
a little extra if it gets outta hand?
Like Boren and Castiglione are up there calling down to Bob, “hey bro, we got this, no need to pay the extra!!! We got things to build!”
For the most part, the big xII has looked pretty good. today
OSU is giving Florida St a run for their money
WVU was giving Bama all they could handle for a while too, really heartbroken they couldnt hang on…
Texas, however, still sucks
Not according to ESPN. Bama rolled WVU apparently.
please tell me you are jokingly using ESPN as a source. Anyone who saw that game, thought that WVU could win for the first 3 quarters…
Oh, I’m definitely joking. That statement couldn’t be more dripping with sarcasm if I tried. I was cynically laughing at that description ESPN gave to the game.
is espn the new wikipedia?
I didn’t get the memo. When did it come out?
ESPN Headline: “FSU and Bama Roll While OU Struggles at Home”
LAWL!
Cortez Johnson has gone AWOL according to Stoops.
And that’s why we gave Horkey a Scholly.
Squinky strikes again.
1. A receiver not named Shepard needs to step up.
2. ILB depth is a concern, but Aaron Franklin played noticeably well.
3. TE play is still unproven.
4. Kingsbury is a better Jonas brother than he is a coach.
(1) I think Young and Neal both showed some stuff…
(2) Our backups both played pretty well
(3) In the passing game. I think they showed a lot blocking…
So a couple of Big 12 pre-season bottom dwellers are putting a scare in the top 2 ranked teams…will be no big deal AT ALL.
Of course not, they were just undergoing early season struggles. They were playing poor, not big12 playing good.
They weren’t motivated and didn[t want to be there, either. ; )
My favorite play without re-watching the game was when Perine plowed several players into the end zone. It was like he said hang on tight boys, you’re going with me.
Can’t wait to watch it!
You will love the running backs. We are loaded! Ross had a really nice kick return debut also. Tight end play is still a question as is receiver production but I’m willing to chalk some of that up to game jitters. The talent is there, just need to calm down and get it done.
Soonersports has some highlights up! Link posted above!
Mead looked more fluid running than I expected. The passes thrown to him were simply bad passes.
Btw finch was cut today hopefully he gets picked up and at least makes a practice squad
yep i counted 3 targets to mead, 1 mead dropped and his other two targets he could’ve put out a little more effort imo
I know he got targeted 3 times on one possession and it ended with an int. I think he may have gotten another target or 2 later on. But I think he will be much more productive against Tulsa it’s a homecoming for him.
Game is up for those of us that missed it! Credits to Holakyle for great work as usual
http://youtube.com/watch?v=BC_ocRmUlss
Hellz yeah!
For all my homies that had to listen tonight, here’s some HIGHLIGHTS !!!
http://www.soonersports.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?&db_oem_id=31000&id=3378518
thanks. my favorite part is shep trying to give the ref five after his td. ref wanted no part
You’re welcome! PE-rine looked like a BEAST!!!!
he’s enormous. like a bigger mjd
That was pretty funny!
thank you! i’m living in Alaska so I don’t get any OU games unless they’re against the PAC-12 or some high ranked team.
You’re absolutely welcome. If you’ll scroll down after the highlights are over, there’s a link to the full replay of the game as well.
I’ve told friends for a while and I’ll say it here, Perine is going to be one of the Sooner greats that we will talk about for years. He was not even the feature back in the opener yet was the leader in yards gained.
He reminds me of a faster Robert Newhouse. Not a bad neighborhood:-)
The Newhouse comparison is legit. A friend I was watching with kept swearing we had suited up Ricky Williams. I’ll take either one.
With those tree trunks for legs he has, my dad and I both saw a bigger, faster Quenton Griffin.
Thinking you might be right. How many past RBs at OU made debuts in their first game as a true frosh? And then there’s Flowers. Ford is pretty good and Ross is alreet but PEErine is gonna be the real deal.
AD had a good first game and didn’t start. Had over 100 yards
Anyone else sorely disappointed in Ross’s inability to break any kind of a tackle? Seems like you so much as blow on him and he topples over…
He did break a few on his kick return. I’m not disappointed right now, he is a speed guy and I think the game will come to him the more he plays.
He may be a speed guy, but he’s also 6’1″ and 220 pounds. He should be able to run through an La Tech arm tackle…
Thanks for the insight coach
I also caught something on the radio. He seems to be a guy who is much better on a stretch play or an off tackle run than pounding it up the middle.
He looked more like the demonic LB I saw in high school. I think the difference for him now is he gets the defense.
Sooo….sportscenter came on at around midnight…not ONE OU highlight, but they have covered the same SEC/FSU game(s) at least 3 times…
And that’s why I watch the fox sports post game shows.
Yup, I’ve been switching back and forth…mostly to confirm what I’ve always known…that ESecPiN is exactly that…
They’ve been like that forever now it seems. They spend 10 minutes on Alabama and show a 20 second highlight for OU. When Alabama is going to lose 2 games probably this year
But-but Coker is going to be Bama’s best QB EVAH!
/lol
I’m still laughing at those comments.
Completely agree. Just thought that they couldn’t possibly deny what I saw this weekend…I was wrong…
eSECspin has controlled the sports news for so long now though, they’re just going to do pump the sec and the defending champs all they can.
I share that same concern. Especially when so many of them have SEC ties…
OK. Now need updates on when the full replay is going to be shown. Heard Mon at 12AM on Fox Sports Network? If you get some info on that, please share it. Have watched and re-watched highlights after listening to the game. Am fully stoked about this team.
Here ya go:
http://www.soonersports.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?&db_oem_id=31000&id=3378518
Out-freaking-standing! Could you grab me another beer, too? Lol Thanks!!
LOL
Also, why the HELL is it such a big deal that Michael Sam was cut? There were plenty of others who were cut, but no mention whatsoever…
One thing about rhetorical questions, one should never attempt an answer.
LAWL.
Because we are in a gay rights society and it is bigger news than a regular athlete getting cut, but I suspect you already knew that.
Yeah, they just play the viewership numbers game and I try not to participate.
Yessir, it’s real important that they gain all of that 3% of the total population market share.
/s
And now nobody picks him up and ESPN and civilians will say shame on the clubs for not picking him up, when if they’d look in the mirror they’d know that no club’s gonna want to deal with the circus
That’s a really good point. Even if he would fit into some team’s scheme, it would be just begging for media overload in you locker room. They may have ruined this guy’s career.
There’s a replay of the tortilla tech laugher on FSN for anyone interested..
Thanks. I would watch, but I have to…uh…trim my toe nails and…uh…check the expiration dates on everything in my kitchen…and…uh…oh yeah, floss.
Yeah, I’ve gotta scrape something off the bottom of my shoe.
O00h, thanks for reminding me, I do too.
When that came on I turned to the Texas/N. Texas replay and my TV bitch slapped me and made me turn to the food network.
Posted a link to the replay above.
Obviously I haven’t had time to watch it all, but I’m pretty sure this is the replay from SoonerSports:

I’m waiting for Holakyles (hurry up man)…the sooner sports one isn’t as good as his will surely be…they should hire him no bs
I agree, but this is the replay of the game, not just the highlights…
oh the link said highlights…I’ll check it out again
Can’t wait any longer for HK, will watch it with my coffee when I get up.
Appreciate it toats but I saw it live so I’m gonna record the Big Twelve no huddle version as I do for all the games. It’s nice to have the season recorded and all games are in a one hour format.
That’s highlights..waiting on Holakyles
The one I’m watching is the full game…
My bad, Shifty. Scroll down. One of the options below the highlights is the replay. I guess it doesn’t link directly to it.
gotcha…I just looked at the vid on the main screen
Found it…I’ll be back in few hours lol…or tomorrow ha

Just highlights.
Thanks!!!! Watching now (a little better video quality than my sketchy link last night!)
You’re absolutely welcome!
Texas Tech…Lol
No truer words have been spoken…
Kind of expected their defense to look that bad after their QB threw for 300+ yards against their defense in the spring game. Still confused as to why they thought that was a good thing.
Because their uni’s looked oh so good while he did it…??
So, judging by the fans over at Smoking Musket, the WVU fan page, they’re buying into the notion that bama is actually a top 2 team. They believe that OU poses no real threat and that the most of their worries are over for the season…trying hard not to laugh…
Heyyy….let em have their moral victory party for a week or 2.
What little I saw of that game I was reminded that we have to go there this year.
The way some of our conference teams played yesterday this year will be a grind if we plan on making the playoff.
I’m just hoping that their competition was overrated!!
Your hope is at least a consolation for their opponents.
I agree it’s embarrassing how soft the rules are now. He aimed for the chest and made his move right before the qb slid.
South Park was on this years ago with their Sarcastaball episode.
Haven’t seen it posted, but HolaKyle’s highlight is posted.
Thanks EasTex!
This guy should offer his editing services to Will Sunderland! He knows how to make a highlight film!
Still love the ref giving Shepard the “too slow” on the fiver!
I will try that one next time! thank you!
If you want to bookmark the link, here’s the one I used. It worked perfectly:

Toby! Merv! It works! lol Using it for pregame now…Thank you!!
