Well it looks like Oklahoma isn’t done trying to flip some commitments. Oklahoma has offered Jackson Barton. Barton is from Salt Lake City, Utah and is currently committed to Utah.
Not sure what this might mean on the Kenyon Frison front yet. Coach Montgomery is Frison’s recruiter. And last we heard there was some confidence that they might be able to flip him. This could simply be a way for Oklahoma to start developing stronger relationships with the coaches at big high schools in Utah. We know there seems to be a concerted effort to recruit the state more now that Coach Jerry Montgomery is on the staff.
Barton would seem like a very tough flip. He has strong ties to the University of Utah. His father played QB and was also pitcher at Utah. And his mother played basketball and volleyball at Utah. Barton grew up going to Utah games. But we know his father is very big into making sure Jackson reaches his fullest potential so there might be a window there given how well Oklahoma develops OLinemen and puts players into the league.
If we hear more we’ll let y’all know.

Would love either or both of the Utah kids.
Frison is the only one that looks possible. Last we heard it was 50/50 on Frison.
Just asking….will there be any fallout in the way of recruiting for us with Sark leaving Washington and heading to USC?
In our mind it doesn’t because we have been saying that OU wasn’t going to get Mixon, Jackson or Williams. Bolton doesn’t have an offer to USC. If USC offered Bolton then yes that would change things.
UPDATE: Talked to another source in Utah and he confirmed that a flip would be very difficult in this case. Not impossible but very difficult. Got to believe the Oklahoma coaches know that though so either they feel they have another in or perhaps this offer is to set some things up for the future.
I just wish JM wouldn’t have gotten Bryan Mone to commit to Michigan before he came to Oklahoma. THAT is a kid I would really want out of Utah…of course I would love Frison too.
