Offensive tackle recruiting has been a little rough this season but it looks like HC Bob Stoops is trying to do something about that. Just confirmed with the HC at Decatur Central HS in Indiana that Coach Bob Stoops dropped by earlier today to visit 2014 offensive tackle, Lukayus McNeil.
Good to see coach Stoops involved with this important target.

Great news. Whats our chances of landing him?
His HC says there is definitely a chance lol. Not sure how big that chance is though. I do know that OU is talking to another OT that people aren’t talking about so they’re definitely covering their rears. I’ll have more about that later.
I always wondered, how do coaches make sure they keep the kids of Plan B interested? I mean, is it just the opportunity of playing at a school like OU, the plan B kids don’t really mind being the backup option? (in other words, how do coaches ascertain that the plan B kids don’t jump the gun and take the spot of a plan A kid?)
Coaches with integrity will tell them the situation and be up front. Other coaches will refuse to accept the commitment and slow play a kid making up some bs reason while they string him along. Pisses me off to no end.
The ole slow play. If it’s your kid getting the slow play it’s like getting gut punched.
I’m not gonna lie sonny I take it very personally. I have lots of coaching friends and their kids are my kids.
I hear ya SK.
K
Ditto. I used to receive calls from players and /or their parents, saying “Coach X” was calling, “saying hang in there, things are looking good”, and now they haven’t called us in three weeks. Worst part of the job. How do you tell them they’ve been strung along? Really ticked me off.
I’ve always heard that our coaches play it strait up. I hope that they are doing the kids right. With all the social media kids use now days, screwing one over could cost you big down the road.
Hmm
I would like more about that other OT now please. Thanks much.
Which one Okorafor, Frison who???
Dominique Robertson?
JY do you think they only go that route if they miss on McNeil and or Frison?
Well, I think they take Robertson, so you have immediate depth. In my opinion, McNeil and Frison are developmental prospects that need redshirt years and maybe another after that and be ready to go as RSSO’s. Robertson is ready to challenge, so having him, Farniok and St. John as the heir apparent’s when Tyrus and Daryl graduate would definitely be wise.
Thanks. I thought they were going to take ONE more OT.. Figured if they were they would take a HS kid over a JC kid. Heck if they are going to take more then one more sure you take one of the HS kids and Robertson.
Cali juco OT that we recently got involved with… he’s nasty!

I don’t know a lot about this stuff but with the head honcho himself doing an “In Home” during a period where “TIME” is critical means that at least the OU coaches feel good about a potential flip here.
That means something that Bob is there. If you can’t flip him with the HC, it probably isn’t going to happen. It also shows how they feel about the kid.
Tristen Hill?
Still keeping my fingers crossed. The dead period ended today, so I expect things to heat up for him. OU or otherwise, he needs to play somewhere.
UNC or NCSt is visiting with him Monday. Still no instate school.
Dominique Robertson?
Refresh my memory, is he currently committed elsewhere? Or who else is recruiting him?
Yeah Louisville. But Strong leaving helps us. He’s down to Louisville, Indiana and OU.
I think we’ve got a chance against Louisville right now. I just hope him and his family members don’t mind him being a few more miles down the road.
We need to build the line depth for sure and I would even say if we play the over sign game like many schools do, we should do it with linemen.
