The CFP committee has 13 members, and is responsible for rankings teams for their placement in the College Football Playoff. Each member serves one three-year term, so Castiglione will be serving for several years to come.
Castiglione has been the Sooners’ AD since 1998 and has been one of the faces of OU excellence. Throughout his term as AD, the University of Oklahoma has seen excellence in almost every university sport. Football, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s gymnastics, softball, men’s and women’s golf… the list goes on for sports that have either matched or exceeded their previous performance peak.
Joe Castiglione has also served on the NCAA baseball committee and been the chair of the men’s basketball committee in the past, creating a level of experience. His selection is big for the Big 12, as the term of Texas Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt is ending this month.
