The Sooners picked up a big addition to the program and Joe Jon Finley gets credited with a huge win on the recruiting trail as tight end Davon Mitchell (6’4 245) out of Los Alamitos, CA has announced his pledge to Oklahoma!
Mitchell has announced he will be reclassifying to the class of ’24.
The Sooners held off pushes from Alabama and Miami for the long time OU lean who has been to Norman countless times and has built solid relationships with the staff. Mitchell is very familiar with many OU recruits and players, especially QB commit Michael Hawkins, as he spent a couple years at Allen, TX.
Should the reclassification go through, Mitchell fills a huge need for the Sooners at the tight end position and he will provide the Oklahoma offense with a skilled weapon that has a massive catch radius. He is a true tight end who has plenty of power and athleticism which will allow him to be an asset in the blocking game.
Really nice pick up for the Sooners.
