The Sooners get a big time pick up as former Tennessee running back Eric Gray has committed to OU!
Gray becomes the third Volunteer to offer up his services to Oklahoma via the transfer portal as he joins OT Wanya Morris and DB Keshawn Lawrence in heading to Norman.
As Super K mentioned Last week, Gray has had Oklahoma on his mind since he entered the portal:
‘***As you know, Tennessee’s starting running back, Eric Gray has entered the transfer portal.
We have received word that Gray is interested in Oklahoma. I was told Gray spoke with Demarco Murray this evening.
If the Sooners choose to make an offer, I suspect they will be very high on Gray’s list. From what I gather, Gray initiated the contact with OU.’
Yesterday, Super K added:
‘***They are still looking for a running back and the Sooners are in a good spot for Eric Gray. I’m told they are still working on getting paperwork cleared to ensure they’d be able to take him if that works out.’
It appears things worked out!
During his career at Tennessee Gray rushed 258 times for 1311 yards which is good for 5.1 yards per carry with 8 touchdowns.
He also caught 43 passes for 369 yards and 3 touchdowns. 30 of those receptions came this year on a woeful Tennessee team. He led the Vols in rushing and was second on the team in receptions during 2020.
Gray comes to Norman with four years to play three seasons.
