The Sooners pick up their 3rd commitment of the ’28 class as linebacker (6’3 214) out of Rabun Gap, Georgia, has announced his pledge to the University of Oklahoma!

Schell looks physically ready for the Power Four level. He recorded 77 tackles, 14 TFLs and three sacks as a sophomore and has the size, length, instincts and downhill physicality to develop into a versatile three-down linebacker.

For OU, Schell looks like the type of long, athletic linebacker who can play inside, attack downhill and eventually become a three-down SEC defender. He holds major offers, including Oklahoma, Georgia, Clemson and Texas A&M, and is regarded as a top-10 linebacker nationally in the ’28 class.

For Schell, it came down to fit, relationships and development. The 2028 linebacker saw what Oklahoma could offer both on the field and in the linebacker room, while the relationships he built with Brent Venables and the OU staff clearly mattered. Schell has the size and physical tools to develop into a high-level SEC linebacker, and OU made it clear they see him fitting perfectly into what they want to do defensively. With Clemson also heavily involved, this was not an easy decision, but the Sooners ultimately gave Schell the combination of football fit, trust in the staff and a clear path for development that he was looking for.
