Boom News! | ’27 TE Seneca Driver Commits to Oklahoma!
Posted on: March 7, 2026
The Oklahoma Sooners picked up a massive recruiting win as 2027 tight end Seneca Driver (6’6 235) out of Banville, KY, announced his commitment to OU, giving the Sooners a significant addition at the position and providing an early boost for new tight ends coach Jason Witten.
Driver’s pledge is particularly notable because it represents early momentum for Witten as he begins his first season coaching in Norman. While Witten arrived with one of the most decorated résumés of any assistant coach in college football, there were natural questions about how quickly he would translate that reputation into success on the recruiting trail. Landing a talent like Driver this early in the 2027 cycle is a strong first step.
Sources indicate Witten’s vision for the tight end position in Oklahoma’s offense resonated with Driver throughout the process. With nearly two decades of experience playing the position at the highest level, Witten was able to offer a level of technical knowledge and development insight that few coaches in the country can match.
The commitment also continues the momentum for head coach Brent Venables and the Sooners’ staff as they continue building toward the future in the SEC.
For Witten, Driver’s decision is an important early recruiting win and a sign that Oklahoma could quickly become a strong destination for top tight end talent in the coming cycles.
Ain’t gonna lie, I did NOT expect this one this weekend.
