Boom News! | ’26 RB DeZephen Walker Commits to Oklahoma!
Posted on: June 16, 2025
The Sooners pull one out on the recruiting trail as 2026 running back DeZephen Walker (5’11 190) out of Peculiar, Missouri, has announced his commitment to the University of Oklahoma!
The Sooners were late to the offer party for Walker, as they only extended their offer on May 9th, but Demarco Murray and Ben Arbuckle wasted no time in lining up an official visit and knocking it out of the park last weekend which secured the talented backs pledge.
Walker has attracted significant attention from major college programs, receiving offers fom schools such as Notre Dame, Georgia, Oregon, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Miami, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Iowa, Purdue, Illinois, Wisconsin, UCF, and Stanford, among others.
Walker exhibits exceptional field vision, allowing him to read defenses and find running lanes effectively. His patience in waiting for blocks to develop enhances his ability to maximize yardage.
He is noted for sharp, efficient cuts that enable him to evade defenders in tight spaces. His agility makes him difficult to tackle in the open field, contributing to his elusiveness.
Walker possesses breakaway speed, capable of outrunning defenders and turning short gains into long touchdowns. This makes him a home-run threat from anywhere on the field.
As a natural receiver out of the backfield, Walker adds versatility to his game. He can line up in the slot or catch passes in space, making him a valuable asset in modern, pass-heavy offenses.
His combination of size (5’11”, 190 lbs), speed, and receiving ability positions him as a three-down back who can stay on the field in various situations, including passing downs and goal-line scenarios.
Walker runs with good contact balance, allowing him to absorb hits and keep moving forward. His physical running style complements his speed, making him a well-rounded back.
Really nice pickup for the Sooners, very nice replacement for Jonathan Hatton, in my opinion.
