Boom News! | ’26 EDGE Jake Kreul Commits to Oklahoma!
Posted on: August 12, 2025
The Sooners land a big time addition to the 2026 class as EDGE Jake Kreul has announced his verbal commitment to the University of Oklahoma!
This one was about as close to a must-have as one can get when it comes to recruiting for the Sooners, and Miguel Chavis and OU were able to close in a head-to-head battle with the Texas Longhorns.
At 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, Kreul possesses a solid frame for a defensive end, with room to add muscle. His quick first step and lateral agility allow him to explode off the line and evade blockers, making him a disruptive force against offensive linemen.
During his junior season at IMG Academy, Kreul recorded 39 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 11 quarterback hurries, and 6 sacks in nine games. This ability to impact both the run and pass game showcases his readiness to compete at the next level.
Playing at IMG Academy, Kreul faces top-tier high school talent on a national schedule, preparing him for college football. His performances in high-profile events like the Under Armour All-America Game and Polynesian Bowl demonstrate his ability to excel against the best as he was a standout in each of the events.
Kreul’s game film shows relentless pursuit and intensity on every play, even in adverse situations. This tireless effort and dedication will help him stand out in college, where consistent hustle is critical for success. Very reminiscent of the kind of motor Jayden Jackson displayed at IMG.
As a consensus four-star recruit with over 36 Power Four offers from programs like Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, and Ole Miss, Kreul’s talent has been widely recognized. His ability to disrupt passing plays with speed rushes and stop the run with physicality makes him adaptable to various college defensive schemes.
Not only does Kreul bring a needed level of talent to the fold, but the perception of the Sooners winning a battle for a recruit against Texas is a much-needed shot in the arm for the program and the fan base.
Nice addition to the class!
