The Sooners added a priority piece of the puzzle to their class as ’25 OL Darius Afalava (6’5 320) out of Lehi, Utah, has announced his commitment to Bill Bedenbaugh and the Oklahoma Sooners!
Afalava brings a diverse skillset to the Sooners offensive line room and he fits the mold that Bedenbaugh loves as he can play both guard and tackle. He will begin his career in Norman as a guard.
The Sooners beat Utah, Washington, and Michigan State for his commitment but Afalava held offers from other prominent schools such as Oregon, Michigan, Texas A&M, USC, Tennessee, Stanford and Ole Miss among others.
The Sooners were late to offer in his process as they extended the offer in April But once they offered, the Sooners made him a priority and Bedenbaugh eventually was able to close the deal.
Afalava showed up in Norman for an unofficial visit. At that point, he picked up the OU offer. Following that visit (HERE) I noted:
“Source tells me that Oklahoma hit all the right notes with Afalava from the campus, the coaching staff, the program, the people and the community at large and the trip out to Norman really turned his recruitment on its head.”
Darius and his family were blown away by the atmosphere and family feel throughout their trips to Norman. They also know that Bill Bedenbaugh has an unmatched track record for offensive line coaches of putting his guys in the best position to succeed at the next level.
Really nice addition to the ’25 offensive line room as he joins Ryan Fodje and Owen Hollenbeck in the class. The Sooners are still pursuing and in good spots for a couple of other priority offensive linemen as well.
