The Sooners add another big-time piece to the ’25 class as in-state cornerback Trystan Haynes has announced his commitment to Oklahoma!
Haynes (6’2 176) becomes the 15th member of the class and he is the third cornerback that has given Jay Valai his verbal pledge.
He joins his Carl Albert HS teammates Trynae Washington and Marcus James in the move to Norman from Oklahoma City. At one point this class of ’25 trio from Carl Albert would have been a quartet as QB Kevin Sperry was at Carl Albert last season before moving back to Texas to attend Guyer High School in Denton.
At Carl Albert, Haynes has been a three way weapon as he has excelled on defense as a corner, on offense as a big play making wide receiver and on special teams as a dynamic return man.
Haynes brings terrific measurables to Norman with him as he has very good size and length and a ton of speed.
Jay Valai and the Sooners had previously secured verbal pledges from projected cornerbacks Courtland Guillory and Maliek Hawkins. Haynes is a guy who really enhances the class as he brings high end speed to the equation. As we have previously reported, don’t sleep on OU continuing to pursue potentially one more high school athlete at corner which could allow them to use a couple of the corners in a multiple defensive back role.
Really nice pickup for Oklahoma and a further indication of this staff’s commitment to recruiting the state at an extremely high level.
Boom!
