Boom News! | ’23 WR Jaquaize Pettaway Commits to Oklahoma!

The Sooners picked up a massive commit today as ’23 wide receiver Jaquaize Pettaway (5’11 170) out of Houston, TX (Langham Creek) announced his verbal pledge to Oklahoma!
Pettaway holds more than two dozen offers from across the country.
His commitment gives Brent Venables and crew a big head to head win over Texas who was the other program listed in his final two. He also holds offers from the likes of Ohio State, LSU, Texas A&M, USC, Notre Dame, Oregon, Michigan, Florida and Ole Miss.
Pettaway officially visited Oklahoma for the ChampUBBQ in the beginning of June and followed that up by taking officials to Ole Miss and Texas.
Following his last official visit (Texas) CJ picked up a sourced note that Pettaway was down to OU and Houston. A week or so later, he put out a top two of OU and Texas. The one constant in the equation won out and he is headed to Norman.
Our guy Darius, who calls Pettaway the best slot in the state, also had this to say when talking about Jaquaize:
‘Analysis: Pettaway is explosive as all get out. His film can be difficult to gauge at times because there often isn’t anyone else within 10 yards of him on tape. Stud.’
When I watch his film I see a lot of Jaylen Waddle, not quite at that level, but very similar. When I mentioned that to Super K, he said “I agree, and when Waddle was in high school, I noted that Waddle reminded me of a more refined Ryan Broyles…Pettaway reminds me a lot of Broyles’.
Not bad comparisons if you ask me.
