Yamaha!
The Sooners stay scorching hot on the recruiting trail as they pick up a big-time commitment from priority running back target Daylan Smothers (5’11 182) out of Charlotte, NC.
Smothers joins Kalib Hicks in Sooners running back coach DeMarco Murray’s room in the ’23 class. Murray has stacked back-to-back blue chip classes for the Sooners as last season he grabbed Jovantae Barnes and Gavin Sawchuk out of the high school ranks.
He holds over two dozen offers from programs all across the country.
The Sooners raced past Florida State and North Carolina State in his recruitment as they entered this recruitment with both feet almost a year later than the other two finalists. While OU offered in March of 2022, they immediately caught his eye and DeMarco and crew were able to close the deal!
Smothers brings plenty of speed, good vision, and quick feet to Norman. He shows good hands in the passing game and I think one of his biggest assets is his ability to go 0-60 in one or two steps which will play very well in Lebby’s scheme.
Really big pickup for Murray and the Sooners.
