The Sooners go to overtime and add a huge member to the CHO23N class as ’23 safety Peyton Bowen has committed to the University of Oklahoma!
The Denton Guyer high school product is one of the most explosive talents in the country and the Sooners had been working to flip the longtime Notre Dame commit for months and they were in good position to make that happen as signing day approached.
I had OU favored to land his commitment to the tune of an 80/20 split for months, but yesterday, he pulled an abrupt turnaround and pledged to Oregon.
Bowen signed, but never sent in his NLI to Oregon and as K was first to report last night, the Sooners re-engaged in talks with Bowen during the delay and their diligence (OU staff) paid off as they secured his letter of intent early this morning!
Remember yesterday during chat when someone pointed out that Brent said they had 25 members of the class…and I said he was expecting Bowen when he said that. I remember.
Huge addition for Brent Venables and staff and again, have to give Jay Valai a tip of the cap as he played an integral part in securing Bowen along with the rest of the staff.
