The Football Brainiacs

The Sooners picked up a big commitment for the 2021 class as Ethan Downs (6’4″ 240, Weatherford, OK) gave Lincoln Riley his verbal pledge!

Downs is the first defensive commit in the 2021 class and he joins Brock Vandagriff and Cody Jackson as the foundation for the class.

Ethan is a versatile athlete who plays all over the field for his high school team on both the offensive side of the ball and the defensive side of the ball,

At OU he will be on the defensive side of the ball where he will be bringing the heat off the edge as mentioned in July.

At the time he said “It sounds like I am an edge rusher and if I do go there, after they put 30-40 pounds on me, keep me just as athletic but make me stronger, faster, and quicker, that would be the idea: to have a big guy rushing off the edge bringing the outside rush.”

The Sooners did a good job in locking down one of the top in-state talents in what appears to be a pretty stout 2021 OKPreps class.
