Boom News! | 2021 DB Damond Harmon Commits to Oklahoma!

The Sooners picked up a nice addition to the 2021 class today as defensive back Damond Harmon has announced his commitment to Oklahoma!

The 6’1″ 180 lb Harmon chose the Sooners over offers from Georgia, Penn State, Florida, Ohio State, USC and Texas to name a few.

Back in April Super K mentioned Harmon was worth keeping an eye on:

“It just so happens I recently saw Harmon. I went by Highland Springs about a month ago to see Sooners 2021 DL target, Kelvin Gilliam. And while at the school, they mentioned Damond Harmon.

At the time he hadn’t had much contact with OU but I spoke to him anyway. I can go back and review my notes to see what may be of interest to you all.

But I did check with him after the OU offer and he said Grinch made the offer. Harmon is a Grinch type DB. Tall, long guy who can probably play multiple positions.

As you know, his teammate, Kelvin Gilliam was supposed to visit OU in April (says he will reschedule). Harmon says the chances of him visiting OU are very high. Gilliam told me he thinks OU’s chances with Harmon are great.

Perhaps a package deal in the works? We shall see.”

As K mentioned above, Harmon is a high school teammate of priority defensive line target Kelvin Gilliam.

With his size and length, Harmon will give the Sooners and Alex Grinch a versatile player in the secondary who could fit in at a number of different positions.

Harmon joins Latrell McCutchin, Caleb Johnson, and Jordan Mukes in the secondary class.

K was the first to tip you off about Harmon and Oklahoma becoming a thing back on July 6th with his post titled ‘Some Good News” on the Donor Board.

‘***Sounds like the Sooners have moved into the lead position for a particular defensive player.

***He is someone we have mentioned but we haven’t talked a lot about him since mid-spring.

***He isn’t from the area.

***Sources from his area have indicated to me that the Sooners are out front.’

Another big pick up from the DMV area for the Sooners!
