The Sooners got some good news today as 2020 LB Brynden Walker flipped his commitment from Oklahoma State to Oklahoma.

Walker and OU have circled each other all spring, with Walker making visits to Norman on more than one occasion. He received his offer back in April, not long after committing to oSu.
Shortly following that offer, I went out to see the talented young man in person. Among our discussions and my observations, one of the things to stand out was that Walker is built like Kenneth Murray – lean and strong. Another observation was his natural leadership.

The staff worked hard to flip the linebacker, and with good reason; he’s a force on the field.
TFB’s own Super K caught up with Walker following a visit earlier this month. He certainly got that sense that OU had made quite an impression on the Bishop McGuinness product and that the Sooners had a good shot at landing the talented linebacker.

Super K also caught up with Brynden this morning to get his thoughts on the commitment to OU.
When asked ‘Why OU?’ Walker said, “OU’s curriculum paired with GrowU was something that really stuck with me. I’m confident regardless wherever I go I will excel academically but there’s an abundance of connections that I saw and have researched that I thought were really cool. The football program itself is amazing and I feel like I can come into OU and make a big impact early”
The discussion then turned to which coaches played the largest role in his decision to commit to the Sooners, Brynden replied “Personally Coach Grinch made the biggest impact on me. Not saying Coach Riley and Odom didn’t play a part in my decision (because they certainly did) just from the very first time I ever met Coach Grinch, his vision and plan for turning the defense really manifested inside of me and I really wanted to be a part of that.”
As for who he will be focused on recruiting to join him in Norman, the linebacker said: “Right now Andrew Raym and Bryson Washington.”
With Walkers commit, the Sooners landed their second linebacker commitment of the month this weekend. OU now has 13 players committed for the 2020 class and plenty of momentum this summer; it’s a good time to be a Sooner fan.
