TFB spoke with Stogner about why he was going to commit to OU. This was his response: “The way I fit in the offense. Loved the staff. Coach Riley and everything about OU.” That’s a fantastic review of the program.
Stogner is a big, physical tight end. When you watch his film below, the first thing that jumps out is his height – he’s never very hard to find on the field. The second thing that’s noticed is his physicality. Watch the play that starts at 34 seconds, and see if that doesn’t remind you of a certain play by Kenny Stills against Texas from 2012….
That’s a man’s play. He does a nice job of blocking on both run plays and passing plays, and gets open very well. The Sooners are looking to take two TEs in the 2019 class, and having Stogner be one of those is a fantastic start.
Stogner is listed as one of the top TEs in the 2019 class, and has absolutely blown up on the recruiting scene this spring. As a 2019 player with a year and a half to go in his recruiting, he has already picked up offers from Alabama, Auburn, Penn State, Ohio State, LSU, Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Florida State, Nebraska… many of the top programs in the country.
Stogner visited Norman in late March this year, when he picked up his OU offer. This past Monday, Stogner made it back to Norman (along with 2019 QB Spencer Rattler) for an unofficial visit. It seems that the visit went exceedingly well, as he said he loved the visit.

After that visit, it seems that Stogner knew that he wanted to be a Sooner.
