I spoke with Kori yesterday, after his junior day visit and he told me he committed and was announcing later on Sunday (today). Roberson said, “Oklahoma was the spot.”
Roberson went on to say that he loved the facilities and just the overall vibe he got at OU.
Roberson quietly visited Texas today, but still walked away feeling like OU was the place for him. When I spoke with Kori Sr he said that one of the things that led them to commit to OU was the fact they felt “at home, as a family, there” and that Oklahoma didn’t pigeon hole Kori Jr as just a 3-tech. Oklahoma sold them on being multiple in how he will play on the defensive line saying, “if Kori gets a chance at the league he will be more ready because he won’t just be one gap player or just a gap player.” Kori Sr added, “At Oklahoma he will play in a hybrid four and three man front scheme. That gives him a leg up on being versatile.”
I asked Kori Sr if they thought they would waver later on and he said,”why would we do that? We know where we want to go and will be back to OU for official visit for the spring game.” He added, ” Kori has it over with and we know more offers will come, but him being solid gives another kid a chance to play at a school they want to go play at. We can now focus on his senior year.”
Oklahoma is getting a player with a fantastic frame and build. This is hat Oklahoma fans have been clamoring for on the DL. With Roberson added to the 2019 class the Sooners now have two DL committed and Coach Calvin Thibodeaux continues to be on a hot streak on the recruiting trail with 2018 and 2019 DL classes being really, really good.
