It’s a little late and but with all the chatter today we figured we’d go ahead and get an Open Post going so that we could all discuss today’s hot topics.
– First of all as some of you are probably aware, Kenyon Frison is now in the OU student database. He wasn’t in there yesterday (we checked). As noted last week, we had been told by a source that Kenyon was fine and good to go. This news would seem to validate that. Good news for OU fans.
– Per his Twitter, Oklahoma has offered 2015 TCU OT commit Cody Ford.
– We are aware of the rumors about Dorial Green-Beckham. If you’ve somehow missed it the rumor making its way around the interwebs is that the former Missouri may be looking to seek a waiver allowing him to play this coming season. And if allowed to play in 2014, apparently there is interest on his part (again, rumored) in doing so at Oklahoma. We’ve received multiple messages asking us if there is any validity to the talk, so we were able to speak with a source in Missouri (the state, not the program) familiar with the situation. And while we cannot confirm or deny the rumor at this time, we wanted to share with you what we were told.
But before doing so, we just want to be perfectly clear about something. We’re simply passing along to you what we have been told. So don’t go taking this elsewhere saying “the Football Brainiacs are reporting….” or “the Brainiacs said DGB is coming to OU!” That is NOT what we are saying. Obviously, we know this is a big deal today and were fortunate enough to able to speak with someone who has some details on the situation. But things are clearly still up in the air (to say the least) and if this were even possible, there would be a number of obvious hurdles still yet to clear (on both sides). We value our readers and take pride in our transparency in sharing what we can, when we can. Hopefully you all appreciate when that is possible, as well as the situations in which that might not be the case.
So with that, here is what we have been told.
1. The rumor is not a new one, we have been told that it has been building organically for the past few weeks from multiple directions. Which lead our source to say “this isn’t coming out of thin air.”
2. Our source also shared that he has been informed by people close to the family that Dorial actually visited Oklahoma recently. When we asked about the likelihood of that visit having taken place, based on his information he was “about 95% sure.”
3. Our source also expressed that he has known Dorial for several years now and offered his opinion on the situation stating he didn’t see DGB enrolling anywhere for next season and that his next stop would likely be the NFL. But, again, that was just our source’s opinion.
4. As far as we know right now, there has been no comment from the family on either this situation or their plans going forward.
Of course, should anything change and/or there are any new developments we will do our best to bring them to you as soon as possible.

so, you’re saying DGB is coming to OU… or he’s not… got it… 😉
IT IS A DEFINITE MAYBE!
DGB is obviously an elite talent, but I wonder if Bob is willing to bring that kind of cancer into his program when he’ll probably only be here for 1 year. Especially when this team has some great chemistry going on right now. A pot head prima-donna would be a huge distraction. Just my 2 cents.
Hard to say at this point. Obviously they have a relationship w/ DGB and his family after recruiting him so heavily a couple years back. If this is true, I’d suspect there are a number of things we don’t know – be they in favor of this happening or vice versa. So I’m holding off any kind of judgment until much later. We’ll just have to wait and see what, if anything, eventually comes of it.
The brainiacs really know how to get responses going and I mean that in a good way.
Can’t wait to post on Rivals and Scout that you guys said DGB is coming to OU.
well played
It has been on Rivals’ Soonerscoop since YESTERDAY!
I think he might have meant the fact that our source seemed to feel there was truth to the rumor and him saying that DGB may have even visited recently would turn into “the football brainiacs said DGB is coming to OU” or something like that
well, to be fair, this is very little other than just a fan site, right?
Well yeah, and according to Carey, you guys just steal you r info from them anyway.

I think it’s possible for a couple reasons:
1. While reputation doesn’t play a huge role in the NFL Draft, it does factor in. I think if he really cares about his draft position (assuming he does) he may want to play the season to prove he can stay out of trouble.
2. OU at the moment doesn’t have a ton experience at WR and with 3 big receivers on campus, he can definitely have an impact on the field as well as at practice with the new guys.
3. OU is positioned to make a big run at the playoffs this year, With the pros out weighing the cons, Bob may pull the trigger to let this guy in despite his off the field issues.
4. Joe Mixon will probably recruit him.
I trust Stoops & Co. From his past, he has a hard side but an understanding side too. Maybe if all of this is true, DGB just needs a new healthy environment with great leadership (coaches & players) to capture his attention and direction on what it takes to be a winner. Not bashing Mizzou, wish they were still in the conf. DGB is young and been treated much different than any of us through HS. Now, he’s at a fork in the road, DGB may lean on Stoops to show him how to work hard and earn a higher grade and more money in the NFL. Stoops seems to carry a little weight with the pro scouts. Best of luck to the young man.
If the BIG 12-2 was to bring Nebraska,Missouri,Texas A&M, and Colorado back would they call us the BIG 12 +2???
What does that have to do with the current topic?
Sorry, thought this was an open post!
Just asked a question. Seemed like and odd post.
It was on my part. I seen this DGB discussion get a little viscous on another site. Steve-just consider this poster (old and forgetful) .
No prob. I just seen the comments & was trying to figure where you were headed with it. It kinda caused me to have a brain fart & was wondering what to answer back & that’s all I could come up with at the moment. Lolol! It just caused my brain to race going like wtf!
It’s all good bud. These Open Posts are for any and everything 🙂
I honestly do not know what to think of the DGB rumor.
If true, I’m conflicted. On one hand, DGB is one helluva talent and could contribute immediately. One the other, I don’t want a player that could upset team chemistry. Guess I’ll have to rely on Bob’s judgement.
That would be my biggest concern is team chemistry at this point. I’m sure Stoops and coaches would think long and hard on this rumor. Does the NCAA still have to approve an immediate transfer? Would he have to sit out a year, could this all be a moot point until the NCAA acts.
Not sure what the rules are – too complicated to decipher. lol
What are the chances Ford flips?
Yeah, What are the chances Ford flips? This is what I am most interest in.
FWIW! The crystal ball on 247 has 4 people voting and all 4 have now flipped for him to commit to OU.
Ambivalent on this one honestly. I thought that the parents hated the treatment they got from us when we were recruiting him? Logistically OU would make alot sense based on the depth, proximity and competitiveness but on the other hand, presents a PR problem for stoops
That’s why Stoops makes the big money and his judgment has done well for OU so far.
Source actually told us that DGB wanted OU originally but there was just too much pressure to stay in state.
K, when you say that, who is/was putting this pressure on him to go to Mizzou? Is it the local folks, people in higher positions? Give us your opinion
He didn’t say bud. But he was very clear about the fact that DGB himself preferred OU. Sorry couldn’t answer your question.
I’m sure it would be a strict policy if he were to attend OU. You can’t ignore that talent and if he brings his A game on and off field, wow.
Me too, I think I will just let Bob make the decision (he has a much better track record than I do).
I don’t want to see this happen. I get that DGB is good and a huge mismatch for any defense but I like our direction and our chemistry. You don’t build that through some what of a free agent so I’m not on board with it.
Plus, the kid’s been in a lot of trouble. Not sure that this would be a be thing.
Not no but HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Agree Zack, I don’t want him within 50 miles of this team
I’m ok with 50 miles in stoolwater so he can burn out there. They’ve had a few troubled receivers.
No way can I see Stoops taking this kid. Would end up being a “cancer” in the locker room and the program in general. Don’t need him that bad.
Yeah Justin Brown was basically a free agent/ “rent-a-player” for a year but totally defirent circumstances! DGB would have to prove that he had cleaned up his act and matured a whole bunch for Bob Stoops to even consider it! Nothing to worry about right now though there isn’t even much smoke and cetainly no fire to this story yet. About 67346 have to happen for him to come to OU and we are on STEP 2!
I can see where you’re coming from, and I would agree with you if he brought his Mizzou attitude with him if by chance Coach Stoops is willing to take a risk. I’d still like to hear this play out a bit more, let the initial hype wear down, I know I got caught day dreaming the possibilities. We still don’t know how he has changed since his off the field incidents happened. I haven’t read too much into it but from a glance it seemed like a similar situation that Shannon is/was in. I think if Coach Stoops see’s a change in attitude and he’s agreed to get down here and work on and off the field, I’d like to see him compete for a job. I also believe it should be highly weighed on what the captains think, since they know and understand their teammates sometimes more than a coach. Just my opinion, I don’t think it hurts at all if we don’t get him.
Zack I agree with u most of the time and I’m not disagreeing with u here sayin that I don’t want DGB but to say that this wasn’t build on free agents I do disagree alittle, 2 of the main guys on the receiving core that have really helped this team out were basicly free agents JUSTIN BROWN and J SAUNDERS were just that free agents, yes I understand they didn’t come with the problems but Stoops has a history of bringing in bad seeds and helping them turn it around
Good points I will add another that seems to be working well is baker mayfield. And for DGB it could be that he needed out of Missouri and maybe all the distractions would have been gone.
Great job by all of the Brainiacs. Rumor or no, I can’t get enough of this stuff.
Hey brainiacs I know it’s a little off topic but has anyone heard anymore from the Jaylon Lane front? I know last I read yall had reported that Stoops(MIke) had gone down to visit him to clear up any misunderstanding about what position he would play. He seemed very high on OU before the “stoolwater” flip, so I’m just wondering if something else made him switch/do yall think we could sway him back our way etc.? Thanks for the time/work you brainiacs put into this site. Us sooner fans live on this stuff.
I hope the dgb rumors are false I do not like the idea of him coming to Oklahoma as a back up plan taking valuable playing time away from our talented receiver corp
Plus we don’t need his actions rubbing off on our other receivers like what happened when Jackson Reynolds and trey franks and another player all got in trouble.
You realize….one drop of oil….contaminates many gallons of water…..we don’t need his type at Oklahoma
U know the best of filters can even clean up that one drop, now I know this is more then drugs but believe it or not bob has takin on kids with troubled and if u think every kid on the team was angels before they got to Norman, u really have no clue, now I’m not saying I want him in Norman but I trust Bob
Ha exactly wolf.
Bob Stoops is not about to bring that kid into Norman…..put down the pipe bro
Wouldn’t bother me if the program wanted to roll the dice once with this
kid. He would have “Jaz Reynolds/Trey Franks” type of expectations
placed on him from the outset. If he could persevere through that and
still find a way to contribute, and most importantly, turn his life
around, then I’m all for it. Wouldn’t be a bad thing that he couldn’t
get his act together while at MizzOU, but comes to Oklahoma and the
light goes on for him.
I don’t want to see OU go after DGB. Stoops will do what he thinks is best, but we don’t need him that bad.
I have mixed feelings about DGB. On one hand he is a tremendous athlete who can carry an offense, on the other he is a cancer who can destroy a locker room and bring negative press to the University that could hurt future recruiting. If Bob believes he is worth a gamble, I hope he puts heavy requirements on him and lets him know that he will be held to higher standards than anyone else on the team and will be cut loose faster than anyone else.
I firmly believe in second chances! Who is to say he would be a cancer at OU? If the team is in a positive place why couldn’t this be a something positive for DBG? Sometimes people have the ability to surprise, but not unless they are given the chance.
I’m sure there is a lot more to this story than we will ever find out. First and foremost the NCAA has to act on his appeal for a transfer without any penalty. Another side question. What would you do if you were J. Wariboko’s parents? I believe they are both OU graduates and successful people. Is it time to sit down and have a little family pow-wow or just write it off to being a 17-18 year old kid. I understand his conviction to his brother and wish them well, but Josh seems to have become vindictive and bitter.
I think that little beoch could be a huge problem in the locker room.
I agree that a second chance sometimes works out, Bob has even proved that point with a hand full of players over the years but he has put the responsibility on the player. I think that he should be required to sit out a year( playing on the scout team) and if he is making grade and has no legal or team rule problems after that, turn him loose and let him shine.
Other than Lynn MacGrudder, those given 2nd chances were already Sooners. This guy has already had 2nd and 3rd chances and keeps digging deeper. Think the talk of him not enrolling anywhere but going straight to the nfl speaks volumes. It says he’s not interested in an education but $$$ and as such would likely be at OU no more than a year, 2 max. Not worth the risk IMHO.
I agree, the more I look at it, the kid just isn’t good for college athletics.
“We value our readers and take pride in our transparency in sharing what we can, when we can.” And we much appreciate it guys… Thanks for all you do. For my money (or lack there of), yous guys are tops in this house.
very nice of you to say
I thought this was an Obama quote for a second.
LMBO – Just so – if a person was to change readers for voters it’d be spot on. Though ain’t likely I’d be quoting much of what he got to say…
Wow I’m surprised at the overwhelming consensus here. Although some have mentioned the situations involving Jazz and trey when it comes to DGB we are talking about a potential first round draft pick here. A difference maker that just happens too play a position that the Sooners are inexperienced at. Coach Stoops was born at night but not last night. To CYA just have your Senior players vote on it knowing that he has one strike and hes out. DGB could be the difference between being conference champs and number. that is if he can get cleared too play this tear. otherwise thanks but no thanks.
With you J.K. Wonder if they ever heard of guy named Farve as he had multiple 2nd chances. The list could go on forever but sometimes you don’t know what you have until you lose it. 2nd chances can make a huge difference between being a winner & loser. He is a difference maker and it all of this is true, Stoops & Co will have it under control.
fwiw, hale says there’s nothing to the dgb story………..I’m also somewhat surprised at the number of posters who would be pleased to get this guy over here………need to read or reread the accounts of his dismissal at mizzou………only reason assault charges weren’t filed on his ass is that the women involved felt intimidated and feared possible repercussions….throw in a fondness for mj, etc………plenty of smaller schools that take chances on risk players……let him shine or implode elsewhere……..btw, I would bet if one of our competitors took him, the derision on here, or elsewhere, would be extensive
I agree with your points completely. I’m surprised how many would like the move if it were to happen. I understand the upside the kid has if his mind is right but am I missing something or do we not have any wideouts at all? If you look at the history of football a great wide receiver hasn’t been the difference maker in winning championships with the exception of jerry rice and to a lesser degree michael Irving.
I wish Beckham all the best that life can offer, but I have no desire to see him wearing the Crimson and Cream.
If the issue was Marijuana or the attempted robbery that he did not get charged for I think this would be a no-brainer, assaulting a women is going to be hard to overlook if true.
When reading ALL the DGB stories over the past couple of years, didn’t we ALL say, “Glad he didn’t come to OU.”?
Sour grapes usually lead to saying negative things, especially when players choose another school. I like your last name, though.
