The Path to Norman

An OU offer was one of the first ones Brown received; there were many more to come. Tre Brown, a highly rated corner from Tulsa, Oklahoma had offers to play all over the country. However, Brown’s recruitment was a relatively quiet one. He committed to the Sooners about a year before his signing day, visited Norman a handful of times, had a couple programs push hard at the end, but signed with the Sooners without much noise.

Career So Far

Tre Brown pulled of the rare feat, despite several SS17 guys doing it, of playing in every single game of his freshman season. For the first half of the season, his play came mostly on special teams. Then, Bedlam came around and Sooner nation got their first big dose of Tre Brown and Tre Norwood; they liked what they saw. Brown earned his first start against TCU the next week and played well. Throughout the rest of the season, Brown got a reputation as a speedy corner who fights hard and is fun to watch.

2018 Season

OU has speedy corners on campus. A TFB Open Post from this spring shows that off:

Tre Brown was another player that my source raved about,”Tre Brown is just a freak. Nothing more to say. He ran a 4.29 when he was timed in the 40.” He and Tre Norwood (who ran sub 4.4) can flat out move. Motley ran sub 4.5 as well, so speed on the back end of the defense isn’t going to be an issue.

That speed will be put to good use this season. Although it currently seems that Norwood and Motley will be the starters, it also seems that Brown will get close to as much playing time as either. The ability to rotate corners and keep the defense fresh is a gift for the coaching staff. Additionally, Brown looks to have another job this year; TFB has heard recently that Brown will resume his high school job of returning kicks, something he is terrific at. Look for Tre Brown to make an impact all over the field this fall.
