Open Post | Wednesday, September 27th

Leon O’Neal: I have confirmed with 2018 TAMU DB commit, Leon O’Neal, that he will take a official visit to Oklahoma on October 28th for the Texas Tech game.

I hope to have more on the status of O’Neal and TAMU later this week.

This will be a second visit for O’Neal. He visited OU back in the winter for the a jr day. – (Super K)

Theo Wease: With the Sooners locked in with their 2018 wide receiver class, Oklahoma is fully focused on their 2019 class. They currently have one commitment (and he’s a good one) in Hebron (TX) WR Trejan Bridges.

Another player Oklahoma would love to get back in the fold is former 2019 commit Theo Wease.

The star Allen HS (Allen, TX) receiver has been in constant contact with the Sooners, even after his decommitment. As a matter of fact, Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley and Wease spoke on the phone earlier this week. Wease calls his relationship with Riley, “Great” and said that he feels really close with Riley because “he treats me like family”.

It’s not just Riley that is pushing Wease, though. Sooners outside WR coach Dennis Simmons is Wease lead recruiter and talks with Wease every week. Wease says he is very close with Simmons and says that their relationship is good because “we have a lot in common”.

With his relationships with the Sooners staff going strong Wease, who had to cancel his last visit to OU, plans on trying to get up to Norman for the Iowa State game on October 7th. Wease tells me that he has no other visits set at this time, but other schools he is liking are Ohio State, Oregon and TCU. – (Brandon)

Ronnie Perkins: I’ve said for a while now that I believe Ronnie Perkins decision will come down to OU, Texas and Missouri.

Missouri was difficult to count out because of proximity and the fact that Perkins older brother plays for the Tigers. But Perkins was in attendance at the Missouri game this past weekend and the 51-14 loss and the 1-3 overall record, didn’t exactly impress.

In talking to folks with knowledge of Perkins recruitment, it’s beginning to look like this one is another Red River Rivalry.

I’m told the Perkins is eying October 7th or October 28th for his official visit to OU.

I am also told, however, that Perkins visit to Texas went so well that he is in the process of setting up a return visit (unofficial) to Texas following his OU trip.

As of today, I believe Texas is his leader. But, as one source said, “things are going to be clearer after he visits OU and can compare the two. That’s when we’ll know where he stands”.

Again, keep your eyes on October 7th or the 28th for a official visit. The visit will be his first to Norman. – (Super K)

TeamNote | Neville Gallimore: We’ve had some folks ask about the health status of Neville Gallimore.

I am told that he’s still in a boot, “just to take the pressure of his foot”. It sounds precautionary. I was also told that “he will be good to go for the game next week”. So, yes, he’s expected to play against Iowa State.

I don’t know what the nature of his issue is but sounds like it’s a mild foot sprain of some sort. But again, he is expected to play next week. – (Super K)

Additional Staff Bye Week Visits: As you know by now the staff will be out hitting the recruiting trail in full force.

We have already mentions some players the Sooners plan on seeing. I spoke to some sources yesterday and wanted to add a few places the staff plans on visiting this week.

The Sooners staff will be visiting commitment Kundarrius Taylor Thursday and 2019 Florida State commit, Jalen Curry and 2018 Sooners commit Jaqualyn Crawford on Friday.

We are also the staff will be down in Houston Friday to see 2019 LSU commit, Kenyon Green. For the previous names we mentioned take a look at this post.

Lastly, I know a lot of people will wonder where Sooners head coach Lincoln Riley is headed this week, while I am told plans are still being hashed out, the source something interesting. It sounds like Riley is keeping the visits a bit under wraps so that he can surprise some players around the country with a visit.

Source also added that Riley spoke with over 30 recruits Monday evening. (Editor note: How bat dat!)

When asked about Riley the source said, “He is so, so good recruiting and relating to the kids.”  Just another in a long line of compliments about Riley. – (Brandon)
