– Ron Tatum: In last Monday’s Open Post I wrote the following…
We are told that 2018 DE/DT, Ron Tatum (Putnam City, OK) is expected to release a top three in the very near future which will include the Sooners. Also, I am told that Tatum could announce his commitment sometime this month or early next month. One source said that an announcement is expected within the next two weeks. However, Tatum has told us numerous times early summer so I split the difference. The favorite? Oklahoma.
Four days later Tatum released a top five of OU, TCU, Texas, Georgia and Alabama.
As far as a decision timeline, he has indeed set his announcement date. He will announce on Wednesday

For the most part things seemed to be going to plan. However, I am no longer certain about who Tatum’s favorite is. I’ve spoken to a source on the Texas side and they feel confident. A source on the OU side still feels Tatum will ultimately select OU. Another source said very clearly that Tatum is down to OU and Texas and is indeed torn between the two.
The fact that another in-state defensive player is even considering leaving the state is a little mind blowing. At this point I don’t feel confident making a pick either way. However, I still say it’s hard to bet against Oklahoma for an in-state kid but again the fact that he seems genuinely torn tells me we are in a bit of uncharted waters this recruiting cycle. Stay tuned… – (Super K)
– TJ Pledger: I spoke with a source regarding TJ Pledger and how solid he is to Oklahoma. A source said, “Pledger is sold on Oklahoma and it being RBU. I don’t think he’s going anywhere.” – (Super K)
– UPDATED (10:58 am): Forgot to note for those who have missed it but Theo Wease, as we expected, has indeed decommitted. Again, this was just a situation where both Wease and Henderson committed too early and as they’ve garnered more and more attention have decided they want to take some time.
Still digging on Tatum but so far nothing has changed. Texas side feels confident. OU side feels confident. – (Super K)
