– Marquis Hayes Jr.: If you missed it last night, the OU coaches officially extended an offer to 2017 OL and recent visitor, Marquis Hayes Jr. Hayes let TFB know the offer was made while he was on the phone with Bill Bedenbaugh earlier Tuesday evening.

– Johncarlo Valentin: With the Sooners offering Marquis Hayes, many of you may be wondering if that may be related to the status of 2016 OU signee Johncarlo Valentin. As you likely know by now, Valentin is the lone member of the 2016 class who has yet to make it to campus. And there has been some previous speculation as to whether or not he will eventually make it at all.

So Brandon has been digging on this and was able to determine the Hayes offer has no relation to Valentin’s status. Hayes is simply a talented player that staff feels like can play multiple positions along the offensive line, hence the offer being made official.

However, that still doesn’t really answer the Valentin question. Again, Brandon was able to speak with a source who said despite the delay in his arrival this is definitely not a lost cause type of situation. If Valentin does what he’s supposed to do, he can still make it in. But no one will know for certain until early August.

These situations don’t always play out in favor of the program, but it appears there is still at least some reason to be hopeful. – (Super K & Brandon)
