you didn’t ask me but I’m starting off with my Mustang Brewing Co. Peanut Butter Milk Stout, then rolling to some Coop Horny Toad and staying in the wheat brews from there….sorry, I like beer.
Well, since I have to work tonight I will have some sweat tea, and will be having queso and chips and salsa, and a burger with fries probably at my local game watching stop Chili’s!
LOL! I’m not sure about the details, but apparently the dude had the balls to take his trash-talking ways onto the OU bus. A brawl was prevented, but there is nothing saving him this afternoon.
That is a good point. Lawson is pretty good, but if you look at the guy’s that Brown has done up against he has been able to get in some good reps with BU’s Oakman and OSU’s Ogbah, TCU’s Carraway and also going up against Tapper throughout practice. Brown has had some legit experience.
Not sure if anyone has made this connection yet, but if we win the title this year, we will be the 1st team to win a title without a top 15 talent composite since…..we won in 2000.
How do they think that would work exactly? That the power of suggestion is so strong that our players would become convinced that they didn’t see that happen?
Clemson acting like they’ve never been here before. Oh wait, they haven’t. This is OU. Clemson acting like Miami did when they were facing the King’s Sooners. smh.
Yes. Coker gets flustered easy and makes bad decisions. He throws into double and triple coverage all the time. Miraculously his receivers have made some great plays. I think Connor Cook can light up Bama’s secondary.
Is there something about wearing orange that makes players act like idiots? There is being confident, and then there is being an assclown. Time for Dabo and Brent to reign their guys in a bit. They are going to look stupid when they end up on the losing side of this game.
Obviously the team needs to play with a ferocious determination. But I think one of the primary keys to this game is gonna be which team gets the stupid, untimely penalties. Our guys need to play hard, but not try to do too much, nobody needs to compensate for anyone else, just do a great job, and don’t be out of control. I think part of the Clemson game plan is to try to get the young guys (Orlando?) riled up and create penalties. If we avoid that, I see a very favorable outcome today.
Only matters what happens on the field and that WE believe our guys can get it done. Sooners have played better when doubted by the media…..bring it on!
Good. 9 of OU’s opponents this year made bowl games, so that means they are playing good teams. All three OOC opponents this year made it……only Kansas, Iowa State and Texas didn’t make bowl games. Conversely, 7 of Clemson’s 13 opponents made bowl games.
I can understand they want to keep the taunting down in a game this heated, but i agree. Ive seen a lot worse get overlooked with a gentle word from the refs.
I don’t know what is wrong with clapping. The guy shoved Flowers after the whistle and that was ok… But yes, they have to keep their heads on straight.
Unsportsmanlike call was bush league. All the official has to do is step in the middle and say, “Alright, boys, knock that sh!t off or we’ll start throwing flags.” That’s a weak play on which to set a precedent.
That thing with Flowers was down the field……anyone know what he specifically did? You can’t call a penalty for clapping unless he was right up in his face and they called it taunting, I would imagine. Crazy. We keep shooting ourselves in the foot though.
That is the same play he ran against UNC when pinned back by his endzone in the ACC Championship. It was one shown on all the breakdown shows. Darn it! Made Ward look bad on that one.
Effin bullshit right there. I just told my wife, “watch for the fake here..” and then they burned us? How the hell does that happen? Bond didnt even sprint to catch up to the guy! BS
That Busch league punt return we have been running finale cost us. You know everybody stand up and take the play off while Shepard catches the ball. Nuttier than squirrel sh#*!
One play does not win or lose a game. The overall play from both sides has not been well executed. Poor tackling on defense and a look of confusion on offense has hurt us.
need to protect the QB better. He’s been sacked 3 times already. part of that is his fault for holding onto it too long, but mainly it’s the OL just flat getting beat
If we can just stop them when we have them in 3rd and medium I will be happy. We have been giving up gashing runs to the QB on those plays. Gotta come up with a way to stop that.
Have to get numbers on the RB side. The lead blocking RB is what’s setting most of that up. I still don’t think they can win on only Watson’s legs. We just need to tackle better and get our inside run game going again.
Oh it’s all good. I have beer in my fridge for some friends that are coming over after the game. 🙂 I don’t judge. LOL just a personal choice for me. I love me some sweet tea! Plus my wife is wanting me to give up so much soda after the 1st to start our “diet”. She said I need to lose 20 pounds. LOL
Clemson thinks they can put 7 or 8 in the box and still stop OUr passing game. As long as they keep doing that and Baker completes passes, I’m ok with it. But I think they move their LB’s out some and we start running.
We got away from the run a little late. Partly because we had to score quick at the end. I think it will balance out if we get a stop on this next drive.
That’s been the case for them this year and they lost a good DE on a thin line. I also think Golfluvr was right when he said Watson will gas if this keeps up.
I think we are in good shape here guys. Minus Sooner mistakes, we are up by 10-14. Calm down. Realize we are the better team. And go play some FOOOOTBALL!!!
OU actually didn’t play all that well in the first half on offense. Defense has done a good job of bailing them out. If the defense can get a stop to start out the half, and then we get Perine back on track, then I think we got this. A lot of game to go still though.
We desperately need to get better on the OL and ILB. Don’t care what anyone says Alexander is one of the most overrated guys on this team. No disrespect meant just is what it is
Tell you what – the “burn it down and fire Venables” crowd sure were on to something. Allowing a whole 57 yards on the ground and 17 points as of the 4th quarter? That guy just sucks!
The worst part for me has been the inconsistency. What constitutes a personal foul for one doesn’t for the other. PI for one doesn’t = PI for the other. That is enough to tick you off.
I’m hoping we don’t let them pull away any more. We need to show some heart and finish with some pride. By the way, I now officially hate Clemson (just saying). I will be rooting for either Alabama or Michigan State for the National championship if the Sooners don’t have a miracle comeback.
I just think that the offense hasn’t been able to stay on the field long enough to rest them. I haven’t seen them quit, they’re just being beaten. That happens.
Against a team like Clemson? Probably. We should at least expect more than 17. The offense has been shut down. It doesn’t give the defense any time to rest. It really hurts losing both our RB.
I’m curious why my response to a troll was considered childish when all I said was exactly what u did? I love your commentary but don’t hammer me about dealing with trolls, when we all feel the same way about them.
I watched the game tonight. They were punks from the opening kickoff. Not impressed. I’ll go ahead and decide how I feel about other teams, and my Sooners. If you aren’t impressed with us, tough.
I am really starting to have doubts. Mike really needs to find a new home. Lincoln, I want to see what another year will do. Mike, I’ve started to give up on.
Offense wasn’t great tonight, defense wasn’t great. Owned in the trenches, but these guys didn’t quit. They just didn’t have it tonight. We’re conference champs. We’re 11-2. It was a good year and we have a chance to be in this position next year. Boomer!
Hate to see the refs and injuries decide this thing. That 1st half showed how good this game should have been. Nobody saw a conf title, CFP birth, and top 10 finish this year. Only losing a couple of key players so next year should be a great one as well.
Tough way to end the year. But I’m proud of how this team played this year. And as always…. I am Sooner born and Sooner bred, when I die I’ll be Sooner dead!!!
Nothing but love for my Sooners. Wish we could have ended things better, but we were a little overmatched. They exceeded my expectations on the season, and have a great base to go into next year. A lot of fun this year and looking forward to next year!
I wouldn’t say we were overmatched. We are missing key players in our front 7 and have FB in at RB. Throw in a ref crew from Lighthouse for the Blind didn’t help. We showed we were up to it the 1st half but got hurt and tired the 2nd half.
With you on the refs. They frustrated the hell out of me all night. I felt like we were a little overmatched on both lines of scrimmage, and the injuries probably contributed to that. Like you said, we just wore down in the second half.
Well, this is not how I wanted the season to end. I had high hopes for this team as the year went on. We lose a key couple of players, but should be better next year. I will bleed crimson until the day I die!
I feel like our o-line let us down a bit tonight and that hurt our defense. The defense was on the field FAR too much.
But again, I am Sooner born and Sooner bred, when I die I’ll be Sooner dead!
Night all Happy New Year!
Agree. This team far exceeded my pre-season exception. Figured 8-9 wins and 2-3rd place in B12. No one part of the team needs to be blamed for tonite. They came together as a team this season and stood as a team. Was hoping for the story-book finish for Shep, though. But See the team as improved in all areas next year. I believe #8 is just over the horizon. Happy New Year all TFBers!!!
Agreed. I would have been happy with 9-3. Winning the Big 12 was huge. This has to be the most one sided officiated game I have seen in awhile though. Early on both players shove each other and the official sees both but only flags Shep. Then we have obvious interference and no call. Then we have official calls block in the back and they pick it up. I am not sure Clemson had a flag all night except the off side call there at the end. Only disappoint in this one was that offensive line and our tackling hasn’t been that bad since early in the year.
Well, good season everyone. Sucks to be right back where we were last year, to the exact same team, but it was under a lot different circumstances at least. On to recruiting and 2016.
Not quite right back where we were. We did finish 11-2 (Big XII Champs) and make the playoffs this year. Things are looking a bit better going into next year than coming into this one. I am getting very tired of getting our tails kicked by Clemson, but they have had our number the past two years. Good season and hopefully just a little better next year!
Very disappointed in the defensive game plan. Took the aggressiveness away from our guys. Just absorbing blocks all night instead of getting after it. I know you have to be disciplined but you can’t play to lose.
I know we had to be careful of the QB run, but our blitzing was non-existent most the night. We let them determine the pace. We weren’t mixing up looks or anything. We looked flat footed most the night
I couldn’t agree more. I think we were too careful. I feel like the guys were handcuffed. Wish we would have played a little more downhill. Although we did miss a lot of tackles when we were in position.
Stop with the “give glory to god” stuff. Does God likes you better than He likes OU? I’m sure hIgh on His list of running the universe is deciding football games. I hate that stuff.
Boys and girls. Thx for a great year. All you that want to whine, remember where we were 1 yr ago. This hurts but shows that more work lies ahead. And look at what core we have back for next year. BOOMER
Pretty good season, all things considered, imho. Hate to see all the calls from taunting to pass interference go against the good guys, when the other team was as guilty or more. Seemed like it helped turn the tide, but I’m not sure it would have made a difference.
This game was closer than it looked, but stupid penalties, injuries and momentum went the other way and against a team as good as Clemson, it doesn’t take much. Their QB and running back are the real deal. So is their coaching staff.
I commented at the half, I was worried about the d getting tired. Walker out was a huge deal. But in games like this, momentum is huge and it’s a bit chicken and egg as well. They play better in the trenches and get momentum and that gives them the energy to do it more. Gotta get some breaks to turn it around and that never happened. We definitely faced a very physical team tonight, and without everything going our way, couldn’t hang.
I’ve maintained all along this team was a year away. Thought just maybe they were ahead of schedule and might put it together. Shep and Striker and Ty are huge losses but the team will bring in more than they lose, esp in the lines and dbacks.
11-2 (Big XII Champs) and made the four team playoff. If someone had told me my Sooners would get that far coming into the season, I would have been pretty damn happy. Today sucked, but it was a great season, and things are looking up going into next year. 2015 was one hell of a rebuilding year! 2016 needs to be one hell of a championship year!
Not much to say for “fans” like yourself. Pathetic losers who will never be happy and will never see anything good in the future. Best of luck in the new year.
Stoops is saying the guys were out of position on several plays and poor tackling. Sounds like what we feared about guys trying to overplay, and getting over amped for the situation. Mental mistakes and poor tackling have been rare for this team since the Texas game. Bob sounded pretty sad about it.
The temptation is to go make a play. Football is about tackling the guy with the ball. The patience of their qb and rb hurt us. The natural instinct is to tackle. It is intuitive. Takes a lot of dicisipline to stay in position
Good season for the Sooners. Need to get better on the OL in a few keys places and need to get tons better at ILB and DT. Safety is serviceable for the B12 not sure about nationally
Help is coming. We can go on to the next thing but these players and coaches still have review film, the year and take that long flight home (not necessarily in that order). They will be better forit. Believe it or not they are building…building..
A decent season, considering where we were after last year. Gotta get the trenches improved. All signs are that we should be better next year, so with a few breaks during the season we may well be playing on New Year’s Eve again next year. With a different result.
Better go undefeated. Not sure committee gives us benefit of doubt any longer just because we are Oklahoma. Got to win a big one once in a while to keep getting that benefit..
Yeah I don’t think it s coaching. They were just better than us. I think we got used to the soft big 12 defenses. I hope we can improve and maybe get one more game next year
Everyone has an opinion my friend… We re rooting for the same team. My opinion is that we are a good big 12 defense but can’t hang with the big boys on defense. Clemson s offensive line made us look soft. I wish that wasn’t the case. When compared to last year, our D is much better but we re not elite yet.
I think our game plan made us look soft. We weren’t looking to penetrate and blow plays up. Absorbing blocks for an entire game and then throw on top of that the amount of plays they ran and eventually you lose your will.
Not sure that mattered so much this time, considering they werent doing much anyway. Not to be offensive to great Merv, but to me it sounded like Merv is just searching for excuses. We just don’t perform very well in big, national games.
I would say the team performed very well at the end of the season. Every game was do or die, and they came out and performed. Tonight just wasn’t our night.
That they did. Not talking about regular season so much. But is the freaking MAN when it comes to winning the conference, but when its national title time… WE are 1-4. That sucks.
“We just don’t perform very well in big, national games.” Typical, ridiculous over the top generalization. Sorry. Agree to disagree on that one. We’ve played very well in very many big, national games.
We played well against LSU and Florida just came up short. You guys are jokes. All you talk about is how great this team is and how terrible Clemson is and then we lose and you all show up to say Bob can’t coach again….really? Love to ride the schooner when it’s rolling it hits a bump and you all love to burn it down.
This team over achieved all year and we all knew the O line was not great but good and it got exposed tonight.
This was a great coaching year and great year for this team. Clemson was better deal with it.
Never said how great we were. Never said how terrible Clemson was. Never said to Bob can’t coach. Bob is fantastic. In fact if you read below (somewhere, lol) I said, “Bob is way too good a coach to be 1-4 in natty type games.”
So, then, what gives? Am I not allowed to question his record in these games that we all want so badly? He is our coach… ????
Not talking about national bowl games, talking games with national implications. When the chips are ready to fall our way, we for some reason, dont show up. Bob’s teams are 1-4 in these types of games. I’m not saying get rid of Bob, but that record stinks. Plain and simple.
Lot to be grateful for this year. Expected us to be 8-4 at the start of the season. Our O line an D line will be even better next year as will our depth.
The Charles Walker concussion issue is a big deal. If I recall correctly he had a number of those in HS which is why he was such a hidden gem.
Hmmmm, we played a very good, confident team and came up short. It’s amazing the pronouncements that people on here want to make about the “meaning” of the game. The meaning of the game is that we didn’t play all that well and got beat. The meaning of the game is that we get back to recruiting, have a great spring, and then strap them on again next year.
The guys played their hearts out this year, exceeding expectations. Let’s congratulate them for a good season and quit all the whining and negativity. Frankly, I’m really getting tired of all of you who didn’t leave it all on the field coming down on those who did. The team played like champions this year; couldn’t we just be champion fans rather than complainers?
Hats off to Shep, Striker, Tap, and all of these great seniors who played their last OU game tonight! Thanks for the memories!
Not taking anything away from what you said, and yes, it has been a great season. Absolutely agree! But,
“The meaning of the game is that we didn’t play all that well and got beat.”
Doesn’t this bother you at all? Aren’t you the least bit tired of “not playing well” in these types of games? This is what has happened 4 out of 5 times in our chances to win natty under Bob.
I’m very bothered by losing. But it isn’t because of some “trend” or hidden meaning. We went through a stretch of sub-standard recruiting in recent years, and our talent level isn’t such that we can expect to dominate every game.
A lot of folks made a big deal about Baylor beating us two years in a row, drawing conclusions about Bob and Mike. Well, this year was different.
And for those who dwell on how many times we came up short on our Natty chances: don’t we give out credit for getting that far? Given where we were last year, I think congratulations are in order for getting this far. Yeah, I feel stabbed in the gut that we lost, but I don’t feel the need to point fingers and place blame.
Bob himself placed blame. Said the defense played like crap basically. Who is this on? He said himself, “worst performance since Texsa.” So I ask, why does this type of performance always pop up in national championship type games? Can’t blame the recruiting for the losses in 08, 04, or 03…
But I agree with you in part. Can’t take away from what they have done to get here, but honestly, I don’t want to be the Buffalo Bills.
I think you make some good points but you re a little too sensitive way up there on your high horse. Let fans vent; im tired of the group think that you have to be positive 100 percent of the time. Part of the fun of being a fan is to look back at what went wrong and talk about it. It s okay to say they punched us in the mouth, they are better, and think about where we are on the national level. Pumping sunshine is appropriate too but so is evaluating the performance and offering legitimate criticism. I think a soft big 12 had us a bit overrated and I’m every bit the fan you are. At the same time, Perine and shep are unworldly and we have some awesome guys who played their hearts out. This was a fun season but we got beat by a better team all around. I’m also worried about the long term prospects of the conference.
Embarassed on both sides of the line of scrimmage–just like the Texas game.. Clemson followed Charlie Strong’s game plan and it worked again….OU still hasn’t figured out a way to stop a dual threat QB ( 320 + yds tonight )….the downside of the defeat is to open the program to national scorn for choking on the big stage again……..
Sadly, this game transpired in some of the ways I had feared. But I did not expect Clemson to be able to run the ball that well. They have a very quick RB and QB, and we just couldn’t stop them. Nevertheless, a very good season, and we can reload for next year’s run.
I might add, this is always a game of intangibles. The penalty on Flowers. The bogus penalty on Shep. The fake punt. The injuries. Who would have thought that Perine and MIxon would both go down? We were very lucky with injuries through the regular season, and today it turned on us. Bad luck is bad luck.
Thank you 2015 OU Sooners for standing against racism and being Big 12 Champs. At least we found a QB and made the Big 12 world right again. Thanks Bob and the coaching staff. Get it in 2016!
Well I was wrong. We got beat by a better team. When this year started I was looking for improvement. My expectation were that we would go 10-2 in the regular season and maybe get lucky and play for a conference championship. We exceed that. Despite the loss we exceeded my expectations for this year.
In the process we have built the foundation for future success. Will that mean we will be better next year. Perhaps. Or perhaps we will have a rash of injuries and not achieve what we set out to do.
Still we had a great year with a really special group of players. This will remain one of my favorite teams, if for no other reason than we got to see some great Sooners play.
I’ve watched Oklahoma football since Steve Owens was carrying the ball 40+ times a game. We’ve had some great teams and we had some John Blake teams, still we have won more than most teams and enjoyed more success than almost any team over the last fifty years.
It is still a good day to be a Sooner, because it is always a great day to be a Sooner.
This was not one of the most talented teams, I’ve seen at OU. They did have some talent, and a special bond that made them unique. Not being able to run much on them, and not being able to stop their run game did us in.
The most talented Sooner team I ever saw play was the 1978 team. But Billy Sims fumbled going in for the go ahead score against Nebraska and we just didn’t finish. The 2000 team was probably not in the top ten Sooner teams as far as talent and yet won a national championship. Some times you just have your worst game at the wrong time. Sometimes the breaks just go your way. I’m going to remember this team for the great young men that played the game and not the fact that they lost the big game.
Yeah, Clemmy was better than I expected. They are very fast and athletic. Thought our offensive line would fare better in opening holes for the run, but that didn’t happen. Hurts ike hell, but proud of the team and the season.
I watched Prentiss Gautt and Wahoo McDaniel as a child. Wahoo became a pro wrestler after a stint in the pros. I also watched Bud Wilkinson stroll over Owen Field long before game time, as if visualizing game-time scenarios. But I know what you mean Bob about this year’s team. They certainly exceeded my expectations. I hate losing but Clemson was definitely the better team. No shame in that. But I loved every minute of this season with exception to the 3 hours we played saxeT. I’d like that back. I’m sure Coach Stoops would too.
I”ll go ahead and repeat what I said before. I’m so glad we got rid of Venables like the “burn-it-down” crowd wanted. Giving up 67 yards on the ground and 17 points to an offense like OU is just not acceptible. It’s a good thing for us he decided it was in his best interest to take the million dollar pay check and leave behind absurd fan expectations. Whew! We sure dodged a bullet on that one!
That’s true……if you’re completely discounting how often his defenses were torched in the BIG XII, all the coverage busts, and losing to Tech in Lubbock every other year.
I’m saying he was never the problem. No DC is going to come into this league and shut these offenses down. Simple as that. The “fire Venables” crowd was always fueled by delusions and nonsense.
Many don’t. Still true IMO. Our defenses had some down games and even some down seasons, but he was never the miserable underachieving coach his critics made him out to be.
Bottom line, like it or not, we do NOT have the defensive athletes YET to be elite. I have listened to all the 5 star flop BS I can stand. But u see what a decent DC does with that talent? Maybe we do need some 5 star bad asses if we want to compete for NC. What other proof u need?
We do indeed. Schemes are not enough when it gets down to it. Like Barry Switzer always said, the team with the better players wins. Sure he had a great wishbone scheme and solid defenses, but his ability as a recruiter and motivator were the keys to the whole thing.
As a matter of principle I don’t like making other people’s arguments or doing their heavy lifting for them, especially when it requires research. If you have a sound argument that you can prove without having to dig and compile lists from various sources, posting a link is certainly simple enough.
Didn’t he just shut us down? Hasn’t every DC shut us down when we play for title implications? Haven’t we never scored more than 19 points in a game with title implications?
I don’t think Venebles couldn’t shut down big 12 defenses because of his coaching but because it requires athletes OU didn’t have in most positions at any given time. He certainly kicked the crap out of OU tonight and his defensive schemes were very similar to what he did in the big 12.
Yeah there’s no question this was not being outcoached but really outplayed. Their athletes just beat ours straight up. The injuries obviously didn’t help.
Surely you must realize that works both ways. DC’s come to the B12 and struggle to get in the top 20 or 30. They coach in leagues where the offenses are less explosive and utilize the spread less (ACC, SEC, B10) and they are in the top 5 or 10. Funny how that works. So Venables goes to a league that doesn’t have the explosive high flying offenses of the B12 and like others in those leagues has an easier time. Yet when he or any other is coaching here for us, they are being compared to those coaches in those leagues where they have an easier job and, thus, a higher ranking. There is an obvious double standard here.
I will go out on the limb and say Venebles has better athletes at Clemson than he did at OU while he was DC. He is a great coach and his defenses at Clemson prove that.
Point taken. Feel better? Got that off your chest? I wasn’t part of the crowd clamoring to get rid of Venables, but he is gone. His defenses have whipped out tails the past two years. Got it.
They were asking him questions after the TD as if he may have suffered a concussion. He played after that, so I don’t know if that had anything to do with it.
Going scoreless in the second half is perhaps the worst cut of all. That 4th down play was a stake through the heart. Were not effective hitting the big play downfield. Their secondary covered well, and the ball was just not quite on target.
Great year for the Sooners. MS still has problems with a running quarterback and making adjustments at half. I saw very little that impressed my from LR either in game prep nor half adjustments. On the other side, Clemson simply outcoached OU. No excuses.
It wasn’t about being outcoached, it was about being outplayed. Their guys beat our guys in the trenches and they broke more tackles than we did. It wasn’t some magic scheme that won the game. It was one team playing better than the other one.
Venables had another great gameplay against us. This year he took the scrambling ability away from Mayfield where he makes his biggest plays. Great adjustments from their OC was obvious. We were simply outcoached. Its not magic.
The scrambling ability isn’t taken away unless the defenders can get in the backfield and they can shut down the regular running game. They got quick penetration all night and their guys wrapped up. BM did get some good scrambles BTW. The scheme wasn’t something OU hadn’t seen. Their athletes on the DL were just playing better than our OL.
They have great athletes and alternated spies on Mayfield. They concentrated on keeping Mayfield in the pocket and dared him to be on target from the there. You cannot deny Venables outcoaching us two years in a row. All you have to do is look at is right out of the gate. Great credit to the Clemson OC. They came out and took over driving the length of the field. Watson a good player, but really was very similar to what we faced against Texas, but with a much better arm.
We don’t have any plays in our playbook that counter blitzes. That’s a big part of the problem. We just let teams blitz and blitz with no repercussion.
Well OU haven’t really play a top qb like Watson. Baylor lost Seth Russell, and TCU didn’t have Boykin when we played them. Not totally surprising that defense would have a difficult time, especially with Walker out. Offense really stall after Perine injury. But who wouldn’t have been happy before the season if they were told OU would make it to be playoff. Boomer Sooner!
“MS still has problems with a running quarterback and making adjustments at half” When the players are out of position, overrunning plays, not playing the way they practiced, and aren’t making tackles when they are in position, then I’m not gonna blame the coach. Most of the season they did just what he showed them and it worked out great, tonight they didn’t and it didn’t. He made obvious adjustments in the second half, but the players weren’t making plays. Injuries and momentum had something to do with it as well, as did the talent on the Clemson side of the ball.
A simple question: Is clapping after a play or even in an opposing players face a penalty or isnt it a penalty. Flowers got called for it but the Clemson player who was just as obvious in his clapping right in front of the refs didnt? How should either BOTH be called or BOTH not be called. Im not saying we would have won the game when that call was made but it was a big momentum changer for sure.
Nah, it just always seems like that to the team on the short end of the stick. Most games, somebody appears to get jobbed. It’s just the way the ball bounces, imho.
The officials have good games and bad games, and it often seems like the calls go one way, especially when you lose. They got called for a sideline infraction, and a few plays later we got a warning, no penalty. If they lose, they see that as an agenda…
I agree. Refs are not part of any conspiracy theory. One ref on one side of the field calls it one way the guy on the other side another way. Inconsistencies are frustrating but it is what it is.
Clemson is undefeated for a reason. Sometimes it turns out to be a game of match-ups. They have some pretty ferocious match-ups on both sides of the ball. If they have an off night, they, too, can be beaten, but not tonight.
Although not as tough as walking out of the cotton bowl…this one is bad as well. Cant cry about it now. Gotta lick our wounds and get back to work in the off season. At least the Clemsa fans arent being as classless. Well be ok.
Yes not fair if the comment is read literally as having no energy. We didn’t look good in the first half until they reached our Red zone. Perhaps it was Clemson s speed that made us look sluggish.
One thing about being passionate OU fans like we all are is the victories are sweet but the defeats are truly disappointing. It was a fun season; very entertaining.
The thing that puzzled me was that we went into halftime on Cloud 9 with that big interception to keep points off the board and then the D comes out as flat as a pancake for Clemson’s first drive of the second half. What the heck happened at halftime when they had a chance to catch a breath? Regardless, I’m proud of this team and I think the immediate future looks very bright.
I hate Alabama. Despise them. But if they make it to the final I hope they destroy Clemson. I was disgusted by the cheap shots and lack of class they displayed. When their #94 intentionally rolled over on Perine’s leg I was furious. And I’m on sedatives!
You know what…refs didnt help. But we didn’t come out ready to play in the second half. But it is what it is. We got a great team coming back. Just gotta keep pushing foward. Our young guys will obviously older next year and well still be deep.
I was really disappointed with Riley continuing to call deep shots every possession. Seems like we wasted a play nearly every series. I know its different if you hit them, and yes of course you have to keep trying to keep Defense honest…but to try a deep pass every single series seemed counter-productive since we werent hitting ANY of them.
Have to agree. We haven’t been effective hitting those all year, so it didn’t seem like the best call. But the passing game was solid overall. Just couldn’t get the run game going.
Its a “we are behind now and need momentum” call. Its much easier to take control back if you can make some big plays. It also takes pressure off of the run game and the Blitz. Start hurting them deep and they have to adjust. If we had landed half of those calls (not over/under thrown) its a TD and a giant Momentum swing. While I hate that they didnt pan out… I like the balls it takes to try it.
I agree, I LOVE the fact that we take deep shots. But I don’t agree you do it EVERY SINGLE POSSESSION. Got us behind the chains wayyyyy too much. Dinking and dunking at times can get the defense pulled up, then you can take a shot deep with a little more chance at it succeeding. We had to get back in it, and ANY score would have done that. So move the ball down the field methodically, and score. The 5-15 yard passes were working quite well.
And how many noticed Clemson’s players just looked bigger? I had a suspicion before, but watching this game it was confirmed for me. It looked like we were trying to climb Everest out there.
Actually, we had about 3-4 drives that go down to self inflicted wounds, penalties, turnovers…. Add in a few key injuries to that, and some questionable calls… too much to overcome. OU wins this game if those drives turn into TDs
Had a friend send this to me. Is this right?
Tex we scored 17. Clemson we scored 17
Tex we had 67 rush yds. Clemson we had 67
Tex we had 312 pass yds. Clemson we had 313.
Tex had 2 100 yd rushers. Clemson had 2 100 yd rushers.

I hope the ACC was exposed by Baylor the other night, not to mention what Houston is doing to FSU right now.
Boomer!!
Sooner, bruh.
soonerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Saint Anger, look favorably upon our Sooners. May the coming explosion of violence warm the hands of eskimos everywhere.
U always amaze me
Let’s hope we’re both amazed in a few hours. 🙂
Saint anger bless us on this day of redemtion
And all the Sooners said…
isn’t saint anger a metallca song?
Yes. I’m piggybacking on their creativity. But don’t tell them. Especially Lars (he’s kinda weird about that copyright stuff).
lmao I miss lime wire
ITS 1.19 and clemsa suckssssssssssssss
I am going crazy
Time for a drink yet?
Watchoo drinkin’, D? Anything special?
No. Starting with a Heneken. Will graduate to something better when we win this one.
I like your style.
you didn’t ask me but I’m starting off with my Mustang Brewing Co. Peanut Butter Milk Stout, then rolling to some Coop Horny Toad and staying in the wheat brews from there….sorry, I like beer.
“Winnah! We got a winnah hyah!” I dig it, Kelly.
I only stick with the Okie brews as well. Craft beer is where it’s at….I do allow blvd Wheat however….
I’m interested in the stout you mentioned. I’m gonna have to keep an eye out. Thank you for sharing.
r/r gives us some words.
It’s called Udderly Awesome and has a picture of a tap going into some cow tits on it. Any okie liquor store that carries craft beer should have it.
Don Julio Blanco

I’m looking for Ahmad Thomas to show the old homeys what faith and hard work and Oklahoma can do for a young man from the hood – 3 INT’s
Clemson sucksssssssssssssss
It’s been kicked around below, but the replies have piqued my interest.
Faniacs: What are you drinking/eating during the game?
Bud light fajitas and jack shots
I plan to celebrate with roasted prime rib. Then a celebratory dry martini, shaken and not stirred, topped with olives and a bit on the dirty side.
That’s classy. Boom–freaking–er, my friend. 🙂
I just sense a good reason to celebrate. Usually, it’s hot wings and a good dark beer. But I have a feelin’…
running up your leg?
Me: Bud Light Lime (sentimental reasons) and Sweet Tea
I had to stick with ultra cause that’s what I just happened to have during KSU. Couldn’t change the rotation.
Have a good cigar smoking order though. Can’t mess with anything since that game cause it’s been working.
Mema’s Authentic Salsa and some Chips. I like the Serrano Salsa.
Well, since I have to work tonight I will have some sweat tea, and will be having queso and chips and salsa, and a burger with fries probably at my local game watching stop Chili’s!
Dam sorry Brien
That’s using your head, Brien. Don’t celebrate so much they throw you out. 🙂
I gave up all tobacco and drink in 1997. (I needed to.) I have my choice of Burger King, Popeye’s or Taco Bell. What do you think?
BS said that KFC was the big hit on the team layover before KS game 🙂
Reuben on wheat, coors light, till after win. Then some GlenFiddich for New Years!
Woodchuck: 802. Depending on how the game goes, I’ll night cap it with a small glass of Elijah Craig small batch 12 year.
Food will consist of finger foods: pigs in a blanket, nachos, wings ect.
Drinking sweet tea. No food until after. But I do have my copenhagen to keep me company!
Cigar smokers, what your victory cigar of choice. Mine, the Drew Estate Liga Privada Feral Flying Pig. If you haven’t had one, you should!
Don dehago hugh hefner
I cant spell all here know that
Never had one, strong, medium, mild?
medium
If u can handle strong, the one I listed above is the best I’ve ever had. Hard to find, but worth every penny.

Thanks Rick Wow
WOW. what a chump. Should have let bond smash his ass.
I’m hoping after the game, he has a tattoo on his chest that looks like Orlando’s foot.
If there’s anything left of him. I heard Coach Byrd forgot to feed Zeus, and he hawngreh.
Anger
Rage!

Details, please?
Unto Mrs. Lawson a douche was born.
kinda like yoko?
With a bad odor.
o hell ya just made me sick
Kinda knew that part, but curious about moar deetz.
LOL! I’m not sure about the details, but apparently the dude had the balls to take his trash-talking ways onto the OU bus. A brawl was prevented, but there is nothing saving him this afternoon.
I just hope he can’t even celebrate New Year’s Eve later. I hope he’s still crying when that ball drops.
Im gunna have to go run in the snow cant take it
Corso be damn. We gonna kick some ass
Has he already picked?
Give me violence, Zeus Brown!
Controlled violence! No stupid penalties.
Unless the score is out of hand, then go for it just for good luck.

Heyyyyyy anyone seen any7 good hallmark movies?
You know, I’ve been waiting for TFB to bring me on in the OUffseason as a guest blogger. Weekly Hallmark reviews for your reading pleasure. 😉
Lmfaoooooooooooooooo
Brown vs Lawson: hoping we see the same thing on the first play that we saw him do to jOakman on the first play of the Baylor game
Bond was wanting to get at him yesterday when he got on our bus. I think Bond will try to get the big O to trade jersey’s with him today.
That would make for a nice dress for Bond.
he can take it all out on Watson
That is a good point. Lawson is pretty good, but if you look at the guy’s that Brown has done up against he has been able to get in some good reps with BU’s Oakman and OSU’s Ogbah, TCU’s Carraway and also going up against Tapper throughout practice. Brown has had some legit experience.
Not sure if anyone has made this connection yet, but if we win the title this year, we will be the 1st team to win a title without a top 15 talent composite since…..we won in 2000.
Baylor just used a converted WR as their QB and set an all-time bowl rushing record against the ACC runner-up……
Let’s let that sink-in a bit before letting Clemson worry us too much.
I like it… we tag Watson a few times he becomes one dimensional all of a sudden
YES!!!!
“That’s cute” – Mayfield’s response probably.
And this is a 100% reflection of a Dabo Dribble coached team, embarrassed for him and their program
BYODouchebags
the incident served its purpose : fired Clemson for its performance tonight…..
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if that was the last time a Clemson player got in Mayfield’s face today?
He’ll be getting in their face, lol.
“Glad you enjoyed 2015.”
He whispered in his ear… “13 and 1”
Poise
Controlled chaos
Lol they’re messing with the wrong Men…
No doubt!
ok guys im going I have to run some where from my excitement cant sit BOOMERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
Clemson fan base trying to say we made up the Shaq Lawson bus thing to motivate ourselves. Lol.
How do they think that would work exactly? That the power of suggestion is so strong that our players would become convinced that they didn’t see that happen?
They think that we are the only ones talking trash. They are angels.
Of course. I mean fans created it to pump the fans up… makes total sense.
“Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18
The arrogance Clemson has displayed in the past few weeks and days is about to catch up with them, and thankfully it’s at the hands of our Sooners!!
Gameday special on FSSW now.
Clemson acting like they’ve never been here before. Oh wait, they haven’t. This is OU. Clemson acting like Miami did when they were facing the King’s Sooners. smh.
I like your attitude adjustment, had me worried earlier 🙂
Yeah. I was half-awake. Sorry about it. We have Perine and they don’t.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBBF2A9xLtY
Enjoy!! Its almost GO time!

Not OU related, but I am enjoying Houston beating up on FSU!
acc
That is my point!!!!
Watching NC and FSU is not impressing me on CU.
Yep. I will say that FSU has a decent defense, but their offense is not so hot.
Wondering if I should break out the ’85 natty t-shirt for this one?
I broke out the new 2015 Big 12 Title Champs shirt, under my new jersey!
Me too
Why u changing up now! Stay with what got us here!
First trip to the playoff, my old jersey was falling apart. Time to start something new. I am not a superstitious person…Usually….
I am definitely not getting out my 87 NC T-shirt.
Wear what u have worn since Texsa, don’t change anything!
We are in good shape then, I have worn different stuff every game since the shorthorn loss.
Ok, u r forgiven.
Thanks, appreciate it. 🙂
Was looking through a closet the other day and found a sweatshirt from the ’87 Orange bowl. Picture of Boz stomping on the head of a Razorback.
prob worth a $ or two
None of my shirts from then fit me anymore (thank you to my wife for her awesome cooking) LOL
Sporting my Q’s 22
Can’t go wrong with that.
85 natty Boz jersey has been my go to all year. Only change I made after Texsa was I started washing it after games!
Punka$$ FSU getting spanked. Never have liked that team.
#WeTooDeep. BOOMER SOONER BABY LETS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Checking in from Huntsville, Alabama! These Bama natives are restless when I sport my Sooner gear! BOOMER!!!!!
Oh and another thing, these Bama folks are afraid and scared to play OU:)
They better worry about MSU. MSU has a good defense for the style of offense that bama plays.
I hear you. I’ve been telling these folks that all week. I’ve picked MSU to win. I’m not impressed with one-dimensional Alabama.
MSU’s lone weakness is their DB’s. If bama had a decent qb they might be able to throw on them.
Yes. Coker gets flustered easy and makes bad decisions. He throws into double and triple coverage all the time. Miraculously his receivers have made some great plays. I think Connor Cook can light up Bama’s secondary.
This is the National Title Game right here: whoever wins will clobber the winner of the Bama/MSU game.
https://twitter.com/CollegeGameDay/status/682659137621225476
BOOMER!
SOONER!
Hell yeah! Boomer!
Zeus, awesome tribute there.
Just got goosebumps.
Go Sooners!!!
Nice tweet from Irvin.
https://twitter.com/michaelirvin88/status/682617469123620864
I want this so bad for shep.
You are not alone in that feeling my friend.
Oh, me too. And Baker too. But mostly for Shep.
Good luck SOONERS!!!! Play Like a Champion Today.
Looking forward to the controlled chaos about to rain down on the kittens.
I would pay to see this. Fattest guy wins?
https://twitter.com/jasonkersey/status/682660397933965312
In that case, my money’s on Carey.
I knew I could dredge up a post from you on this. Pavlov’s dog kinda thing…
Ohhhh, now you’re on Carey’s side! lmao
Only in a battle of girth.
My money would be on Clemson media, our media is mostly creeps, jerks and cowards. I’d like to bench all of them.
Coach Merv would kick all their arses
I like the Sooner Sports guys, can’t stand the NewsOK, WWLS, 247, Rivals guys.
Yeah, Dusty and Teddy are now considered “media” as well I suppose so yeah, I’d watch.
I wouldn’t bet against Dusty!!
Wearing my #85 Ryan Broyles crimson jersey! Come on Sooners, Git R Done!!
The majority of ESPN commentators are taking Clemson.
Only matters what happens on the field and that WE believe our guys can get it done. Sooners have played better when doubted by the media…..bring it on!
True.
On gameday only Desmond Howard took Clemsup. Everybody else picked good guys. I’m going with that.
Didn’t see it. Thanks. Howard never picks us. Douche bag.
Of all the talking heads only May and Howard, (that I heard) didn’t pick us.
That sounds about right from them. Douches.
Love when Corso picks against OU, but really love it when Desmond picks against OU. Music to my ears Oracle.
..
Clamsen succs?
korekt
Carmen Success.
No, that’s not it.
Clam Sauce.
No, hmm…
Crimson Socks?
This is hard.
you’re doing great though
Houston looks legit. OU’s schedule is looking beefy next year.
Houston, ULM, Ohio st…OOC…
That’s probably 2 top 10 matchups to start the season. Niiiiiiice.
Hear that recruits?
Good. 9 of OU’s opponents this year made bowl games, so that means they are playing good teams. All three OOC opponents this year made it……only Kansas, Iowa State and Texas didn’t make bowl games. Conversely, 7 of Clemson’s 13 opponents made bowl games.
and how many have lost their bowl so far?
Tulsa lost. Akron won. (not counting in conference opponents)
sorry, meant Clempson’s opponents
LOL.. Well I’m not going to look that up.
two of the “biggest”, Fla St and NC both lost.
NC got hammered too. FSU by 14 against Houston.
Baylor beat (pounded) NC by basically running 3 different plays.
1-4 for Clemson Opp. Only Louisville won.
Deshaun’s backstory is as underwhelming as he is stupid. :-/
So, he’s not academic scholarship worthy?
Only at Clemson. 🙂
15 minutes…Boomer
Radio silence in t minus 10. Talk to you fells after the win!
Checking out… See you guys after the win. Boomer!
Houston beat FSU. Good that game is over. Now let’s get ready for the Main Event! Boomer Sooner everybody!
Might ACC king FSU goes down to Houston. Really? Doesn’t bode well for overall ACC strength.
Its time…………….bring it…………Boomer!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love my God. Love his people. Love this team. Love this state.
A Boomer Sooner! to all of you. Chat with y’all on the other side of sweet victory.
Everyone checking off TFB?
Heck no.
I’ll tag along but may be too pumped to type.
Im usually in and out…
Will type during breaks. Good plays, bad plays. lol
For the record – I’ll take a one point win any which way. I expect better, but I’ll take it. Go time!!!
Time to crush clemson’s hopes and dreams…
Got a beer in my left…typing with the right…
Sooner Magic Time
BOOMER…………
SOONER!
LETS DO THIS THING BABY!!! BOOMER!!
SOONER!!!!!!!!!
Final Four!
It doesn’t even look like the Orange Bowl is sold out. Lots of empty seats.
I don’t know why. Tickets were very reasonable. Stub hub had some 18 rows up in the Ou endzone, lower deck, for like $140 a piece.
The “be seen”, “fashionably late” locals have yet to arrive.
Boomer Sooner boyos!
That Switzer guy likes our chances I heard.
NERVOUS AND EXCITED!! BOOMER!
I sure hope this is a happy thread today! Boomer Sooner!
Raising my adult beverage, CHEERS to TFB Family, BOOMER!!!!
SOONER!
I have mentioned that I hate, despise, cannot stand with all my being the color orange?
Freaking home game for Clemson?
Pretty much.
No 1 team, yes
Doesn’t matter…..although I love seeing OU in the crimson jerseys. The Orange may just piss the Sooners off more than if Clemson was in White.
Boomer Freakin Sooner!!
Ou was ready to go! Those players couldn’t wait to take the field!!
Just win baby !!!!!!

Nila has to come out. Helmet got knocked off.
Nila has to come out. Helmet got knocked off.
Perine!!!!!
Hey Bleed, long time no talk!
Yes!!! Bleed is here to call out first downs. Now its on!!
Yes!!! Bleed is here to call out first downs. Now its on!!
Hey Bleed, long time no talk!
Perine
BOOMER!
BOOMER!
BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hell yeah! Let’s go!
Touchdown Perine!!!!
YES bitches!
YES bitches!
Great start! Keep it up Sooners!
Perfectly executed first drive.
Ok thats one more point than we scored all last year….BOOMER
WORK!!!
gotta admit, I was a little worried after that first play
me tooo
I know that’s right
Just a little confusion, they got it straightened out real quick.
Just a little confusion, they got it straightened out real quick.
Yup.
Looked like baker made the wrong read on it is all.
you can’t arm tackle Perine, are you crazy?
They can’t stop the run.
And right up the gut to boot!
They still haven’t seen Mixon yet!!
BV can stop EITHER the run OR the pass but his defenses never seem to be able to do both.
I’ll take neither today!
I like how we just crammed it down their orange throats! The whole drive.
You like that!?! You like that!!!
You like that!?! You like that!!!
Man, if Perine keeps going, then this is going to be a long day for Clemson.
Indeed.
Man, if Perine keeps going, then this is going to be a long day for Clemson.
BOOMER!!!
Remember when we couldn’t score from the one?
Nope I forgot that by design:)
Thats B.P. though. Before Perine.
I can’t wait till they set up the wheel route with Mixon!!
Boomer!
Sooner!
And they haven’t even met Mixon yet.
They scurred to see that.
LET’S GO D!
Our 34 defence is built to stop this offence.
No soup for you, Watson!
I like it so far. We are playing a little salty.
I like it so far. We are playing a little salty.
“The Predator” Bond looking unstoppable!!
“The Predator” Bond looking unstoppable!!
Trying to mismatch Sanchez
DEFENSE!!
BRING OUT THE PUNTER!
Punt that ball, kitties.
Nice.
Nice.
IDK. Not liking the smack talk by OU after they are tackling guys. Don’t need any stupid penalities.
I like the trash talk.
I thought I heard someone say they were going to be able to run all game long?
I read they were going to be able to do what they wanted.
All game…well S#$%!
Umm, oops!
That is why you don’t talk until after the game!!
No, that is why you stay humble no matter what.
Was one of those blowhard Clemson players
He was referring to OU though…………
If he was, he was right!! 🙂
Solid gap control so far.
Pretty decent coverage so far too. Nothing we could’ve done on that completion for -st down they got.
Why, why, why, don’t we even try to return punts. No one in the history of football has taken this approach on every single punt.
I mean, we’re in the playoffs…maybe they should taking that approach. Lol
point taken 🙂
“Im Brian Bosworth and I approve of the on the field trash talking that OU is doing.”
How I’m watching the game: http://www.usagoals.co/ncaa-football/1395666/1/oklahoma-vs-clemson-live-stream-online.html
Darn! Shep had his man beat.
He has got to throw that away.
Dang it.
Dump it to perine.
Sheesh…
Wow, that was a horrible sequence of events.
WOW, WTF
C’mon D!!!
Hold them 3, or force a TO!
Thought we had an INT on that tip. Darn it!
TO!!!
That sack is on the QB. Just swing it to Mixon.
Middle of the d needs to stiffen up.
Middle of the d needs to stiffen up.
COME ON D!
If Striker hits him low there they stop them short.
Evans had him. Gotta wrap up!
That can lead to a slow death..
Lawson might be done.
Doesn’t look good with the ice on the knee.
I just saw the towel on the head. That’s always a bad sign.
It always is for me. 🙂
It was very reminiscent of Ryan Reynolds against Texas in 2008.
Sorry for him. But I’ll take it.
Karma for running his mouth.
And jumping on the OU bus?
I hope he’s back at 100% in about 3 hrs.
Zeus does that to people.
Striker
A striker and Bond sandwich mmmn.
Man, you saw that one coming with STriker chasing
Ahmad!!!!
Good play.
The secondary looking sharp and we’ll prepared.
NICE JOB D!
Almost had the pick!
We can live with that.
Huge stop!!! Now let’s go score!!!
But Baker has to dump it Perine had Shep blocking and one defender.
Heck, that ball on first down doesn’t get tipped, SHep probably takes it to the house. But, didn’t happen.
True.
Baker needs to dump the ball off more. I can’t stand the running around in backfield anymore.
This defence is to fast… throw the ball away and live to play another down.
Come on Ross!!
What happened to that short kick game we heard about?
I thought they lost their kicker.
I thought I heard that also.
He was the back up, but did the KO’s like Hodgson does for OU.
Looks like the wrong guy been handling the ko dutys.
It was their kick off specialist that got sent home
I want play action and deep to DEDE.
I want a TD. I don’t care if it’s a lateral to a cheerleader. Just score.
I still want Shep to get his. He deserves a little payback against these guys.
Lawson is out!
SHEP!
SHEP!
Nice pick up!
BAKER!
Love and hate Mayfield won’t slide
Karma Lawson
MIXON!
Big Joe!
Nice play there.
That was cool!
PF on OU… UGH!
End around round shovel pass the playbook wide open tonight!
That was a terrible call!!! I mean totally horrible!
Can’t let emotion get the better of you boys!
Unsportsmanlike conduct for clapping???
You can’t clap? Doesn’t Florida do the gator chomp?
What about the guy that was punching the “ball” while Mixon was on the ground after the whistle?
They will allow that, but don’t clap for crying out loud.
I can understand they want to keep the taunting down in a game this heated, but i agree. Ive seen a lot worse get overlooked with a gentle word from the refs.
That’s who I thought was getting the penalty…
Mixon has to break some tackles. Going down way too easily so far today.
BS penalty
Who is the former Sooner known as Flowers?
Gotta play it smarter even if its a dumb call.
I don’t know what is wrong with clapping. The guy shoved Flowers after the whistle and that was ok… But yes, they have to keep their heads on straight.
We think they go for the FG here?
Nah. Pin ’em deep, get after ’em on the D side.
Flowers just got us 3 points – minimum. Stupid
A punt, too far to kick a FG.
Welcome to 2015 where clapping—–clapping—–is considered bad.
I know. Over officiating a holes.
the positive side of it, is that before that penalty, OU looked pretty efficient out there.
But it’s a wasted series.
no doubt, and that is never good, but it bodes well for future drives
Agree. We are outplaying them. A bad sack and terrible penalty has prevented this from getting out of hand early.
They cant stop us
Unsportsmanlike call was bush league. All the official has to do is step in the middle and say, “Alright, boys, knock that sh!t off or we’ll start throwing flags.” That’s a weak play on which to set a precedent.
Terrible call on 3rd and 19
That thing with Flowers was down the field……anyone know what he specifically did? You can’t call a penalty for clapping unless he was right up in his face and they called it taunting, I would imagine. Crazy. We keep shooting ourselves in the foot though.
that’s exactly what it was
He was right in his grill.
Great punt!
That’ll work!
Good punt!
There you go, Seibert!
Legatron making up for it on that one!
Alright, someone tell Lincoln that Lawson is out
Exactly run to the left.
Trust me Rily will take advantage of this for sure.
D THE HECK UP!!!
Defense, let’s go fumble coming up.
I’ll also accept an INT or a 3 and out!
Turnover would be nice.
D up Sooners
Really like our commitment to the run so far
Yes, but need to run left on Brown’s side more.
Make someone in orange explode, collect the ball, and house it.
Yes, TURNOVER!
Pick 6?
I’d allow it.
A safety would be nice here.
Caution for big play try
Dang!!!
FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
Dang.
Ughgh
He took a big shot on that one.
They’ll add up.
He ran right through arms.
That is the same play he ran against UNC when pinned back by his endzone in the ACC Championship. It was one shown on all the breakdown shows. Darn it! Made Ward look bad on that one.
Good tackle by Ahmad there.
got lucky there
OMG!!!!
WAKE UP!
No one home.
ATTACK!!!!
So that was really bad.
yup!
Sooners D looked lost on every play that drive.
Where is the spy on the Qb?
He was being blocked by the RB.
It wasn’t gonna be easy.
We are being badly out coached.
Just stupid to give up that fake in punt safe. OU making a lot of stupid errors so far.
I see a lot of holding…
That will NEVER be called unless it’s someone in a white jersey.
So, momentum.
Time to take it back.
The punter has more passing yards than the QB. SMH
We still have ’em
Frank Shannon is a great run stopper… just a thought..
That’s what happens when the punt return team is just used to turning around and watching a fair catch.
Very true.
If you are playing punt safe, AND NOT TRYING TO BLOCK A PUNT, SHOULDN’T YOU AT LEAST ACCOUNT FOR A F FAKE?
Yes no excuses for the fake to happen. They were just going through the motions.
OU mistakes are defining this game…so far.
Effin bullshit right there. I just told my wife, “watch for the fake here..” and then they burned us? How the hell does that happen? Bond didnt even sprint to catch up to the guy! BS
That dude was clapping at Mixon!!!
You are reading my mind!
Their defensive player was clapping, why not a penalty there?
PERINE!
Perine is a man
THROW THE FLAG!
#1 was clapping over our guy there…
Shep just threw a punch?
Seriously?
sure looks like it
Andrews was being held, but of course no call there.
Run the ball more quit trying to pass so much on early downs. Feed Optimus!!
Sooners better calm down.
Plenty of time there. Gotta make a better throw there.
RILEY Needs to shorten the passes.
Riley needs to call a run play
We’ve called 12 passes and 12 runs. Relax
Our successful drives were running
Getting out coached and out played
Not at all
Nah, the refs and couple of trick plays. Overall we are fine.
D UP
Maybe we should try running the damn ball.
Alright D, get us a stop and we will turn this around!
Need a stop here.
Man, what a difference a flag or 2 make…a 7/14 point swing for sure.
Yep
Beth, the only decent KISS song
Serious and quick momentum shift..
Fake punt has changed the momentum. We need to get it back. Need a stop here!
Anyone else having problems posting?
yep
Ok, wanted to make sure it wasn’t just me.
That Busch league punt return we have been running finale cost us. You know everybody stand up and take the play off while Shepard catches the ball. Nuttier than squirrel sh#*!
Did OUr D forget how to tackle while they were off?
With all those brutal practices maybe we should have worked on tackling.
Poor tackling..
F defense.
Wheres the d line?
Evans hurt.
If we end up losing this game because one of our players was clapping Im going to hurt somebody.
One play does not win or lose a game. The overall play from both sides has not been well executed. Poor tackling on defense and a look of confusion on offense has hurt us.
Its point where all the momentum in the game switched
True but that does not win or lose the game. They have to execute.
Let’s go D
Stop giving so much room.
Haven’t tackled this bad since texsa.
Good job Frank Shannon!
D!
Sweet.
Tappers arms looked like feathers as he tried to wrap tackle..
We take the lead this possesion
Middle is wide open.
This feels like the Texas game..
Need a balanced drive, both run and pass with tempo.
need to protect the QB better. He’s been sacked 3 times already. part of that is his fault for holding onto it too long, but mainly it’s the OL just flat getting beat
Need to run a middle screen with the HB. That’ll slow em down.
Man we need some momentum here! Feels like we are down 21-0 right now.
Need to get the ball out quick. Make them play closer to the LOS.
I am very irritable at this moment..
Inside run and medium pass games are working. Just tackle and pass protect. We are ok.
Facemask
These officials just suck butt!
Shep!!!!
STERLING
Seriously, how many calls against OU compared to the other team??
Did these refs all go to Clemson?
FINALLY!
About f&$@ing time..
This is two down…quick dump to Perine …
Shep!!!
SHep
Oline has to get a little push there.
Give that Perine, not Mixon. Don’t overthink this.
Dede was wide open right in the middle of the field.
QB draw..
What are they calling? Perine?
Someone didn’t get the call right. Two receivers in the same area is not what you want.
I was thinking the same
Shep and Andrews had it in their sights. If you are going to Andrews do that short where there aren’t 3 guys. UGH!
Well at least they got a drive. Need a stop here. And a last drive.
Passing too much.
Should have just had Perine run it in
Yep
Clemson had pretty much everyone in the box
that first run made no sense. that should have been Perine.
I still feel good. Seems like 2nd qtr has been rough all year.
I have felt like the third quarter has been our rough one all year.
Great. Evans out. Ugh
They are playing too far off.
I thought they prepared for the QB runs damn it
Stop them right here!!! COME ON D!
Good coverage!
I don’t like are d scheme.
Defense has basically done their job. Offense needs to step up.
Time to punch one in. Let’s get it done.
There ya go, dump it down.
DeDE!!!!!!!
NICE THROW!
DEDE
These officials are horrible!
Big 10.
I know, they have no idea what fast paced means there.
Andrews!!!!! TD
Perine here.
BOOMER!!!!
SOONER!!!
SOONER!!!!!
Andrews!
Yes.
Sweet…
OU.
Clemson is dangerous. They still have plenty of time to get down the field. D needs to step up again.
We need a quick 3 and out!
I will allow it!
Watch the QB.
The QB run with the RB lead blocking is their whole game. It works but very one dimensional.
Send Striker
Playing too far off.
Where’s the push up front?
Not getting any with just three rushers.
The refs just forced Sanchez to take a play off!
If you are going to blitz, you have to account for the qb run.
Stupid defense…
Did Frank actually touch him???
These refs are a nightmare.
I’d agree for the most part, but that was a legit call
Defense not holding up.
Striker is not in position.
Striker is playing great. He flushed the QB with a great rush.
Sanchez!!!!!!! INT!!!!!
Live or die with him, but man he can make some plays!
NICE JOB SANCHEZ!
Booooomer
SOONER!
Yes.
Huge INT!!!
As bad as we played in the first half, WE ARE STILL IN THE LEAD!
Now for some Halftime Adjustments.
Our coaches bread and butter are in game adjustments. We are looking good. I might have a heart attack before it’s over though.
If we can just stop them when we have them in 3rd and medium I will be happy. We have been giving up gashing runs to the QB on those plays. Gotta come up with a way to stop that.
They had three weeks to take away the Qb run. Make them pass. Should be able to defend Gallman and the qb RUNS.
It’s numbers. If all Clemson has are Watson’s legs they are in bad shape.
easier said than done. Watson is legit as is their OL. The 53 yard run was inexcusable though. He ran right past the DL that was sitting in the hole.
Have to get numbers on the RB side. The lead blocking RB is what’s setting most of that up. I still don’t think they can win on only Watson’s legs. We just need to tackle better and get our inside run game going again.
True, if we tackle like we have the last 7 games he won’t get the yardage he has been getting. And I think he will tire out if he keeps running.
And once again Sanchez haters……shut up
anybody else drunk?
I don’t drink.
I do!
I’m sipping my sweet tea.
Keep sipping and Boomer Sooner!
Sweet Long Island Tea?
Nope, I don’t drink alcohol.
I know..just funnin. Sweet tea is good!
LOL
I am taking it easy during the game. Will have a drink later tonight for New Years. Dosage depends on the second half. haha
Anyone have good drugs to help here?
I have lots of Copenhagen….
Me too but that ain’t cuttin it today.
Well I live in Colorado 🙂
Jealous I am.
Fed Ex?
Ha! I wish I could. I like living at home though (as opposed to jail.)
Fair enough
I don’t mind the QB running as long as we keep limiting the pass and the RB. It will be tough Clemson to win on Watson’s legs alone.
But man he’s run for over 100 yards so far. We have to limit that.
Halftime stats:
OU 256 Total yards 226 passing, 31 rushing
Clemson 305 total yards 146 passing, 159 rushing
Do not like our rushing yards.
Perine gonna bust 1 or 2 for 25 or more in second half. Mixon seems out of sorts..
What can we do on the ground? Need to try and run wide and then inside perhaps?
Perine 47 yards 1 td
Mixon 4 yards
Baker -18 yards
19 carries, 23 passes.
Clemson thinks they can put 7 or 8 in the box and still stop OUr passing game. As long as they keep doing that and Baker completes passes, I’m ok with it. But I think they move their LB’s out some and we start running.
OUr offense is designed to take what is given, loading the box only opens the pass, LB’s like you say drop off, look out for OUr backs.
They finally threw a swing pass to Perine and look what that did, 20 yards and opened up the middle on the next play to Dede.
I liked that swing to Andrews out of motion too, the one we scored on..
Need to even that out the next half, more rushing than passing
We got away from the run a little late. Partly because we had to score quick at the end. I think it will balance out if we get a stop on this next drive.
My hope is that Clemsons D starts to wear down and our Rushing game takes over in the 4th
That’s been the case for them this year and they lost a good DE on a thin line. I also think Golfluvr was right when he said Watson will gas if this keeps up.
I hope I’m right. LOL
We all do lol
Let’s go Mike stop the QB run and this game is OUrs
Few things… I like how tight this game is, hate how sloppy its been for OU so far. Glad to have a B12 Championship. This one goes to the wire.
Watson is going to get so tired he is going to make another mistake or two. He already has around 15 carries.
He keeps messing with his brace
I noticed that. He is getting hit on almost every play, taking lots of punishment.
He’s tough. Limping between plays. I think he’s going on adrenaline. Kid won’t be able to walk tomorrow.
He has my respect
Tough football player
Still not sure about his passing ability but he is a heck of a football player.
That was my thoughts, he’s carried a lot, he’s been hit a lot, and he’s starting to limp…
My second half cigar is called “payback”. Fitting for what is about to happen.
Someone on here (dont remember who) predicted 17-17 at half, and then OU pulls away in second half. I’m goin with that… Lets do this!
Boooomer
Sooooooner!
I have confidence, just nervous about it
I think we are in good shape here guys. Minus Sooner mistakes, we are up by 10-14. Calm down. Realize we are the better team. And go play some FOOOOTBALL!!!
BOOOOOOOOOMER!
Soooooooooner
We’ve also been the better 2nd half team this season. Hope that trend continues.
Run game has to get going. They wear down big Time due to lack of depth.
OU actually didn’t play all that well in the first half on offense. Defense has done a good job of bailing them out. If the defense can get a stop to start out the half, and then we get Perine back on track, then I think we got this. A lot of game to go still though.
LR earns his huge raise RIGHT NOW!
I like Baker threw to Perine in the flat.
Yeah, they finally have hot read outlet for Baker. LR finally made that adjustment.
That was “good decision Baker.” Much better player than “scramble like crazy Baker.”
BV has a spy for Baker.
I bet we have a spy for watson too. /s
That is ok. One less player in coverage.
Anybody else reminded of Tennessee?
A bit, but OUr offense is playing a little better than they were against the Vols.
took the whole half to get on here. Diqus hanging’ ugh
Welcome!
I know, we’ve all been having problems.
What a game!!
Boomer!
SOONER!
Is it just me or is this the most bizarrely officiated game.
Only 3 penalties for each team! Feels like soo many more. Cuz they are all 15 yarders. Crazy.
I still have no idea what the sideline interference on Clemson was.
Me neither. And no warning first? Always get a warning first. Just like OU did. Weird.
Not just 15 yarders but some STRANGE calls both ways.
You mean in the history of football? Yes, I believe you are correct.
Yep
I think they’ve figured out how to take Watson out of the game.
Half time. I meant. I’m a few seconds delayed.
Ahmad Thomas. Anybody who complained about him needs to watch that first play in the end zone.
Sanchez…same thing. What a timely play!
My main concern is the defense getting tired. That’s a big worry.
On the other side, Clemson O-line might be getting tired, too.
Last thing: Clemson has had to resort to trick plays. The game is close, but I feel good that they’ve had to do that.
Have a great second half everyone!! Go Sooners!!!
Not the first series of the second half. Nothing trick, just straight smash mouth football and our guys got beat.
Man we miss C. Walker
Very generous spot, these officials. UGH
Bring in Q.
Nice tackle S. Parker!
Nobody with outside contain.
UGH! They are making this look too easy. But OUr D always struggles on the first series of the third quarter, not sure why.
Well it sure kept to form. They drove it right down our throats as if our guys were standing around.
No kidding!
Dj ward is no charles walker. Why is he in on the first drive in the 3rd quarter
Zone is not working.
Too easy
Yep, I just said that.
Not a good start
The d line sucks today.
But hey we are not going to miss a beat without charles walker.
Need to put in Q or move Dimon out for Wade so they won’t get moved.
I agree. Ward isn’t very good for a top program
Crap through a goose
Where is the adjustment? WHere is the dline push?
Obviously we decided not to make halftime adjustments on defense.
not time to panic yet. we knew they’d be good. let’s see what we do on offense.
The D line getting pushed off the line was concerning on that drive. We need to answer to keep the momentum in check.
I say load up on the run and play man. Let them try and beat us deep.
Defense playing like they have no fight.
At least they did that first series.
agreed
Running right down our throat – body language looks bad.
Why is Jordan Evans out?
Hurt his shoulder
hurt his pec
Shoulder
Dumb play
Perine is hurt
ankle
Block.
CRAP
That did not look good
Game over
not yet. have some faith in sooner magic.
We’ve got great backs. game isn’t over
I’m gonna throw up.”.
When they’re in your backfield, your in trouble.
They came out with a spark, we came out second half flat
Pass the ball. Air raid…let’s go.
agree. They’re begging us to pass the ball
Left the middle open there. Not sure why there was no audible.
Our OLine isnt giving Baker any time.
He landed on his ankle.
Perine is down, OU’s championship hopes are done.
Pass down the middle. Geez.
Not a good start. Gotta keep this thing in striking range and win late.
We need the D to step up and get a stop. They have scored on 5 of the last 6 drives.
Terrible play calling after halftime
Oh great, Mixon is hurting too. UGH!
we are dead
Nila got beat like a redheaded step child there.
Looks very, very bad just 5 mins into the 2nd half.
The OL is absolutely getting owned. No amount of coaching will overcome that.
Not good enough on both lines today.
turnover now
Need a stop here.
Time for OU to lay down and get blown out in bowl games like we usually do.
Shut your mouh
Another tough guy, can’t handle the truth.
Okay ass hole like in 2014? 2010? 2009? 2011?
Yeah tough guy, it’s a trend. OU craps the bed in bowl games. I hate it but it’s the truth.
Dude, stop being so negative. We’re down by 6. The game isn’t over.
D up
I say go to man to man and line up to stop the run.
I’m one of the most positive sooner fans you’ll find, but I’ve got a bad feeling about this one.
That we have struggled this much to run the ball is very disturbing
We need a player to get up and lead this team. Where is the usual Striker and Mayfield fire?
Time for some SOONER MAGIC
Big game bob goes down again.
Bitch.
Why are people on here acting like this is already over
Because we can’t stop Clemson’s offense.
It should be obvious by now that Clemson is the better team. We needed some help from them and didn’t get it.
You’ll notice your response comes an hour after my post, at which time we were only down by 6. But yes, we were soundly beaten. Sucks.
This don’t look good so far.
DImon.
The defensive coach in charge of tackling should be looking for a job.
OU D seems to have woken up a bit!
Well looks like ball game
YES.
Dj is not very good. Sorry to pick on a player but he is what he is
Too frustrated to continue watching, but it was a great season.
Fine. Go stew.
DON’T GIVE UP!
Appreciate the pick me up. I need it. Love my Sooners, but getting seriously frustrated.
We aren’t going to win every game by 30 points.
Fair enough. Lost my cool. Thanks for bringing me back to earth.
I feel like this is a Sooner magic game. You’re too spoiled. Remember the tight games against Nebraska that we pulled out?
I’m with you. Nothing is impossible. Go Sooners!!
OU 3 and out coming up. Perine is out for the season I’m sure.
Let’s go O
I wish Bob would work harder on the special teams.
Let’s go! short passes to loosen their blitzing.
Coach Riley should have been focused on OUr game plan instead of worrying about interviewing for HC positions. He is getting exposed.
If you’re just going to be negative for the rest of the game, then you might as well turn it off and go find something to do that will make you happy.
I’m just telling the truth man, I hate it but it’s true.
very true
Ignorant post of the day!! Congrats!
Tapper gives us a spark. Time for LR to find those mismatches.
I think it would be a huge mistake to give up on this team. Here we come.
LR isn’t calling a good game
Quick short passes please. Dink and dunk.
I have faith. He often takes time to set things up later.
Hope offense wake up!!
Dede!!!!
Is that Mixon that is down?
Yep. Next man up.
there is no next man, Ross?
Yep, Ross is the only one left. Flowers I guess could fit in there.
I think so. We get him in the open field on a swing pass where he can get upfield and he can break it with speed.
Yep, knocked out
That’s what I thought. FFFFUUUUUDDDDDGGGGEEEEEE
He had the stiff arms kind of KO too. That is knocked TF out.
Ross! He’ll break one…wheel route like in Spring!
Why do Mixon and Perine always get hurt at the same time?
Siamese twins?
I hate to be so negative, but damn man. OU never gets any breaks when it comes to injuries.
Well Brooks is suspended too now what
Shoot em up and get them back out there
defensive plan seems unprepared….again
Were done Ross can handle the run game
Dude landed on his head. But he is up.
That’s a good sign.
Perine in
Optimus is coming back in.
Please bust a long run Ross. I believe in you!
If injuries don’t get us this game we will be limping into the NC.
Should have been INT
WHERE IS THE FREAKING FLAG????
That was classic interference.
This officiating crew sucks!
Shep
Go to Shep…all day.
Bad no call.
Bad is quite an understatement.
Dang
Darn it. Wasted trip. But showed some life.
Riley getting owned, that should have been a QB sneak.
Let’s go D
Alexander whiffed
And Sanchez.
Sanchez had a whiff tackle there.
Take out the DT.
Game over
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
You have to play the man on that, not the ball Stephen.
That is not good. Missed tackle.
Hahahahaha good job mike stoops. Guy can’t pass for nothing and they still score. Poor game planning
That was on the player.
And before that
Hit short passes.
Baker gonna bake
Where the hell is the taunting call. He punched Mayfield’s head!!
These officials are going to call NOTHING on clemson. That has been evident since the clapping P/F call.
Still a good season tho compared to last year. I just hate to lose to a ACC smack talking team
Middle of the field for the last time
Shannon!!
BIG POP!
Why are they playing a 3 man line?
This is not freaking over! Need to shorten the routes like against WV.
It’s not but it’s close
I agree, Don’t understand LR play calling with Andrews and over the middle
We desperately need to get better on the OL and ILB. Don’t care what anyone says Alexander is one of the most overrated guys on this team. No disrespect meant just is what it is
Hold on Samia
Yep
Guess not it was on Ty.
I guess it was pick and choose. :]
Yep, could have been on both. I’m surprised they didn’t call both and try to penalize us 20 yards. LOL
With these refs, it would be exponential
Yep
Dru samia is getting owned.
Oline not good enough. Need a new center and right guard and rt.
Good thing they will be gone next year. Been saying all year darlington isn’t very good at the point of attack. Great guy and sooner.
Dude shut the hell up. U haven’t shown ur grill in months and now u wanna talk.
Stfu..I post all season. You not so much
U post after Texsa game? That sounds about right. Later puss.
We can meet up dude. You are not going like the results
Lol. Tough internet guy are you? Consider me scared.
Hahaha no. Want to find out.
Sure, where u at dumbass?
Downtown.
Pretty stupid string. Why don’t you both get a grip.
Dude calls me out not going to sit there and take it. All I said was darlington is a great guy and sooner but not great at the point of attack
You both are acting like a 2 year old. Sometimes it is better just to not say anything and leave it be.
On the nose, Golfluvr. Two kids acting like kids.
U cool with all these stupid trolls coming in here? It irritates me. Sorry for my commentary but this cat is nothing but a troll.
Agreed, my bad, just can’t stand these so called fans who come on here on a loss and decide they were know it all started after all.
That’s real specific, see u there.
If you can’t wrestle don’t show up
Lol
I’ve wrestle since I was kid. Now train under carlson gracie jr. Just look at my avatar.
That was a helmet to helmet tackle on the QB, that is supposed to be targeting, but hey we know the Big 12 teams won’t get any calls.
C’mon D. Hang in there.
Getting beat by a better team
It was a good year. Not quite good enough
Need to get a turnover to stay in it
Any way this goes, I’m proud of our boys. Exceeded expectations in every way this year.
Couldn’t agree more. Great season however this goes, and I’m still holding out for a miracle finish.
Anybody still think missing Charles Walker not a big deal?
That what I said before the game. He is a difference maker. Not so much for his backups
Where are the short passes?
LR can’t abandon the run. They are starting to tee off with the blitz.
We need to run that outside toss we ran against taco tech.
They can’t run. SHort passes like the Patriots damn it.
And here come the trolls..
They came and left at the third quarter see below.
They’ve been here for a while. My concern is we are too thin because of injuries for another 4th qtr comeback.
We’ve been here before. And won.
Down 17-3.
My worst fear realized. OL just not up to the task. As a result, our D is worn out.
Where are the quick out passes?
Not over yet but not looking good
Tell you what – the “burn it down and fire Venables” crowd sure were on to something. Allowing a whole 57 yards on the ground and 17 points as of the 4th quarter? That guy just sucks!
SERIOUSLY??? We can’t get a PI call and our guy is mauled. That is total BS!
Can not believe the calls.
Even my wife has noticed it and she doesn’t know much about football. She has seen holds not called and the PI called.
Terrible call
Our guys been getting raped downfield and THAT gets called!?!?!
Shannon missing.
I hate complaining about the refs, but damn, this is pretty bad.
Crazy how one sided this whole thing has been
Its been one sided, but our d has gotten their butts whipped.
True
Me too, on the last play there were two holds by the o-line. Never going to get called. These refs are beyond bad!
The worst part for me has been the inconsistency. What constitutes a personal foul for one doesn’t for the other. PI for one doesn’t = PI for the other. That is enough to tick you off.
Exactly!
13 on 11
We know they were running the ball how can you still get beat? I don’t see any adjustment to take away what they do .
We can run blitz but it’s a huge gamble and not what we do well. TCU does it a ton
Just line up 8 and make them pass.
So we just sit back and not try. Come on man.
We are done for this year , love my sooners to death we will be there next year
Defense let us down.
This is similar to last year, not moving the ball. They are out there too long.
Probably good thing they fall down because OU isn’t stopping them
That is complete bullcrap! These officials SUCK!
My God!!!!
That is the very definition of a block in the back. Head and arms behind the helmet. I give up. This is BS!
He hit him the back.
Yep total BS but thats been a running theme in this game.
It was way over before that. This team just lost its MOJO for some reason
A ref tries to do the right thing and his buddies put a stop to that quick.
The d line lost it for us.
Embarrassing, looks like Clemson earned the right to talk to OU like they do
Need aTD here
We KNEW THEY RUN THE BALL…WHere’s the leverage?
Not saying we would win but the refs have been good for at least a 20 pt swing thus far.
It hasn’t been good for us, but the refs aren’t beating both of our lines. This is just one team being better than the other team.
To an extent, but the uneven officiating has been pretty demoralizing.
the missed pass interference calls have been frustrating, especially when they are called the other way on much less contact.
Good night folks. Good season.
Thanks for contributing.
Night Bleed!
Trust in Oklahoma coaches, now kyler murray isn’t so promising. Is he?
??? What the frick does that mean?
Well, I’ll watch this to the end. I haven’t seen them quit yet. They’re just plain getting beaten right now.
Good season watching 30 for 30 now
Ya think, great year though ready for next year
I’m hoping we don’t let them pull away any more. We need to show some heart and finish with some pride. By the way, I now officially hate Clemson (just saying). I will be rooting for either Alabama or Michigan State for the National championship if the Sooners don’t have a miracle comeback.
I am frustrated at the d.
I just think that the offense hasn’t been able to stay on the field long enough to rest them. I haven’t seen them quit, they’re just being beaten. That happens.
I guess. So, we should have expected to score 45 in order to win?
Against a team like Clemson? Probably. We should at least expect more than 17. The offense has been shut down. It doesn’t give the defense any time to rest. It really hurts losing both our RB.
Neither side of the ball has played very well. The o-line did not hold up at all and that hurt the D because the O wasn’t staying on the field.
O has been bad. Couldn’t stay on the field
I think we should recruit Dabo as our next coach
Go away
I’m curious why my response to a troll was considered childish when all I said was exactly what u did? I love your commentary but don’t hammer me about dealing with trolls, when we all feel the same way about them.
On your side man
Sometimes, as I said earlier, it is better to just ignore them….
It was a bad night for us all. All I can say. We be back!
Amen brother!
No, he’s an obnoxious prick. I’ll gladly keep Bob.
Uh…no thanks. The group of punks he puts on the field may win, but I wouldn’t them representing OU.
Did you see Mixon’s interview. I don’t we should claim any other teams have punks.
I watched the game tonight. They were punks from the opening kickoff. Not impressed. I’ll go ahead and decide how I feel about other teams, and my Sooners. If you aren’t impressed with us, tough.
Samaje deserves the heart of the game award.
Up to the passing game now
Love my SOONERS
well godanm, for the second year in a row I am embarrassed!
Nah. They’re leaving it all out there. Clemson has just been better tonight.
normally, I would agree. this is just Stoops past his prime.
Lol, really?
did we come close. did we compete?
Who are u? And where have u been lately?
I am 100 percent Okie blood, but two years in a row and a loss to Texas. Really?
Good year, better than expected. Will be better next year BOOMER SOONER
I am really starting to have doubts. Mike really needs to find a new home. Lincoln, I want to see what another year will do. Mike, I’ve started to give up on.
And here we go with the fir Mike bs……
Norcal, just moved here from Norman. Fuc@$% hate Cali with a passion. where are you from?
Stupid
Might be drunk, might be pissed, but just watched a second ass whopping from an acc team!
You’re a freaking idiot! Go away!
Well a good year. Champions! On to 2016! Boomer!
Holding? Sec. NetwOrk baby! Ou is a threat
You see the guy he wanted to throw to
Offense wasn’t great tonight, defense wasn’t great. Owned in the trenches, but these guys didn’t quit. They just didn’t have it tonight. We’re conference champs. We’re 11-2. It was a good year and we have a chance to be in this position next year. Boomer!
Amen
Hate to see the refs and injuries decide this thing. That 1st half showed how good this game should have been. Nobody saw a conf title, CFP birth, and top 10 finish this year. Only losing a couple of key players so next year should be a great one as well.
Tough way to end the year. But I’m proud of how this team played this year. And as always…. I am Sooner born and Sooner bred, when I die I’ll be Sooner dead!!!
Perine is amazing. Injuries killed us. Good defense wins again. Tough start for the big 12 this bowl season.
Defense wins championships.
They had it tonight, we didn’t.
The guys who came up short tonight will grow. This season has renewed my faith in the coaching staff to correct things and develop players.
The one called on Shep was offsetting; it was called on both guys.
Great year. Now Baker needs to learn that talking about a chip on your shoulder is for others. It’s unbecoming and it doesn’t help the team.
Get ready for 2016 and get there again.
Since 2000, we just come up short every time.
Im not at all disappointed. Proud of the guys for a B12 Championship. Back to Work. Happy New Year Sooner fans. BOOMER!
SOONER
We had a good year, but there is still much more work to be done for us to be elite.
elite is being one of the top 4 now. What is your definition? C’mon man.
Yep. If a BB team makes the Final Four they are considered ‘elite’. Why not in football?
I guess I’m not happy with making the top four. I expect more from OU. Winning a championship is what I consider elite.
Well. Okay. But then there is only one elite team every year. So can we expect a championship every year?
WE ARE ELITE. Happy fucking new year to you.
Very disappointed in the defensive game plan. Took the aggressiveness away from our guys. Just absorbing blocks all night instead of getting after it. I know you have to be disciplined but you can’t play to lose.
Why couldn’t we stop the run?
the interior pressure was gone against a line that big without Walker
We didn’t get any penetration. I feel like The coaches took the fight out our guys.
poor tackling didn’t help…
Ageed. Although It just seemed like we were trying to be so disciplined we didn’t play with emotion. I’m sure we will bounce! Boomer!
1. Walker
2. Evans
and guys overrunning the play and being out of position…
Lots of guys overrunning, out of position, not hitting, and not wrapping up. Worst defensive performance since Texsa game..
So, fire Kish?
I know we had to be careful of the QB run, but our blitzing was non-existent most the night. We let them determine the pace. We weren’t mixing up looks or anything. We looked flat footed most the night
I couldn’t agree more. I think we were too careful. I feel like the guys were handcuffed. Wish we would have played a little more downhill. Although we did miss a lot of tackles when we were in position.
Guess I will have to route for the Bama/MSU winner. I hope MSU wins it all.
Completely with you. Would have been rooting for Clemson were it not for the trash talking/cheap shot performance they put on.
Probably. But Dabo grates on me.
Anybody but Clemson..
BOOMER
SOONER! Great post.
Thx Ed. 2 linemen and two WR on offense and 3-4 on Def but sure have some talent in the cupboard.
Where were we a year ago? Getting blown out by Clemson in a bowl? What a difference a year makes. (FYI, don’t mind me. I’m just being facetious)
Thanks, and no whining here. Proud of my Sooners and hoping for just a little better next year! SOONER!
Most fun season I’ve had in a long time.
So is their coaching staff.
getting stuffed on 3rd and 1 from mid-field was big. the missed PI was big. in the end, OU was just beaten in the trenches though. that’s what won it.
^^^^^^
Plus they got God on their side.
Great year. Next year is OUrs.
I actually thought we were a year away. The guys and coaches worked wonders this
year. Can’t wait to see what they do with more tim
Me too Wilson. The new coaches will have a full year with the players and this teams leaders have taught the guys how to lead and be a ream
I’ve maintained all along this team was a year away. Thought just maybe they were ahead of schedule and might put it together. Shep and Striker and Ty are huge losses but the team will bring in more than they lose, esp in the lines and dbacks.
and Tapper…and Sanchez… and….
Forgot about Tap. Not convinced Sanchez goes.
Got to get some guys that love to hit on D.
Anyone else feel good that we have Kyler Murray coming into the QB stable?
yes I do, just hope Kendall Austin still comes.
Why wouldn’t he?
Well football season is over for me, on to recruiting now. Good start we just need to finish strong.
11-2 (Big XII Champs) and made the four team playoff. If someone had told me my Sooners would get that far coming into the season, I would have been pretty damn happy. Today sucked, but it was a great season, and things are looking up going into next year. 2015 was one hell of a rebuilding year! 2016 needs to be one hell of a championship year!
moral victories are excuses…….the season is a disappointment with the team unable to win tonight……
I guess it’s only my opinion, but I thought the game was a disappointment, but certainly not the season.
Not just yours, I agree!
Bob went on to say they were all plays that they had worked on in practice…
A decent season, considering where we were after last year. Gotta get the trenches improved. All signs are that we should be better next year, so with a few breaks during the season we may well be playing on New Year’s Eve again next year. With a different result.
Final Four 2 years in a row. Would that be considered ‘elite’?
Who cares what some announcer calls it. Just call it Natty!
Better go undefeated. Not sure committee gives us benefit of doubt any longer just because we are Oklahoma. Got to win a big one once in a while to keep getting that benefit..
Agreed. Just need a few things to happen. It was good to see Westbrook step up tonight; I’m assuming he’ll stay.
Seems likely, and he should.
WR’s had a pretty good game tonight. I agree.
I will be there next year…for the win.
I like our chances as well as anyone’s going into next year. Good nucleus coming back.
Yeah I don’t think it s coaching. They were just better than us. I think we got used to the soft big 12 defenses. I hope we can improve and maybe get one more game next year
TCU is not soft on D. Neither are we.
This team will continue to grow and get better.
Gotta agree with Merv that losing both of our tailbacks early in the second half pretty well sealed the deal…
Not sure that mattered so much this time, considering they werent doing much anyway. Not to be offensive to great Merv, but to me it sounded like Merv is just searching for excuses. We just don’t perform very well in big, national games.
The game was in the balance when we went for it on 4th down. A healthy Samaje doesn’t get stopped and the game could have turned out very differently.
Samaje should have had the ball several more times near the goal line…
Whatever the reason is, there is always a reason. I’m ready for this team to perform like we all know they can.
Name one big time game, with national championship implications, that we have played well in since 2000? Name 1.
What do you mean by “national implications?” Bowl games? 8 w 9 L.
1-4 in games when national title is on the line. That is what I mean.
Well wait a minute here. Sugar bowl 2014? 2011, 2010, 09, 05,02, 01, 00 Bob’s won a lot of national bowl games. Barry was 8-5 in bowl games.
Not talking about national bowl games, talking games with national implications. When the chips are ready to fall our way, we for some reason, dont show up. Bob’s teams are 1-4 in these types of games. I’m not saying get rid of Bob, but that record stinks. Plain and simple.
Oh National title games or now semi-final. Yep 1-4.
Conference championships are Bob’s niche…but national championships elude him like the dickens.
He’s been much too good a coach to be 1-4 in those games.
A common thread is the offense under performs. 13 v FSU, 14 v LSU, 19 v USC, 14 versus FL, now 17 v Clemson. All those years we averaged over 40…
Honestly, what is our deal in big bowl games…I can’t understand. We just don’t show up
1999 lost. 2000, 01, 02 won Okay that 3-1. 03, 04 lost 3-3. 05 won, 06 07 08 lost…4-6. 09, 10, 11,won…7-6…12 lost 13 won, 14 -15 lost…So 8-9…Switzer 8-5…
4-6 in BCS/ playoff bowl games. Sucks! Hoping our recruiting continues to trend. That’s the only way we get back on top of these games
In this game, I didn’t see MS present a defense that was geared to force them to pass the ball. They had 300 yards rushing.
We didn’t pressure, disguise our look, nothing to give us an edge
I was disappointed in our D. Didn’t seem like we hit hard or tackled. They were much more physical. I was screaming to hit somebody hard.
This next game should be interesting.
I need answers…how the crap do we get dominated on the line, when they are missing their best player. Come on!
Thank you.
Bob & Mike aren’t going to win another title. gameplans are too passive. No adjustments and the inability to use all the weapons OU has…
I think you make some good points but you re a little too sensitive way up there on your high horse.
Hope OU can get some homerun recruits
Fire Kish?
I might add, this is always a game of intangibles. The penalty on Flowers. The bogus penalty on Shep. The fake punt. The injuries. Who would have thought that Perine and MIxon would both go down? We were very lucky with injuries through the regular season, and today it turned on us. Bad luck is bad luck.
true on all accounts…every play, call and non-call killed momentum. We thrive on momentum
Thank you 2015 OU Sooners for standing against racism and being Big 12 Champs. At least we found a QB and made the Big 12 world right again. Thanks Bob and the coaching staff. Get it in 2016!
All that can be said really
I guess its hard for me to accept that we weren’t the better team. I feel like we basically played ourselves out of it…
This was not one of the most talented teams, I’ve seen at OU.
Amen
I”ll go ahead and repeat what I said before. I’m so glad we got rid of Venables like the “burn-it-down” crowd wanted. Giving up 67 yards on the ground and 17 points to an offense like OU is just not acceptible. It’s a good thing for us he decided it was in his best interest to take the million dollar pay check and leave behind absurd fan expectations. Whew! We sure dodged a bullet on that one!
That’s true……if you’re completely discounting how often his defenses were torched in the BIG XII, all the coverage busts, and losing to Tech in Lubbock every other year.
Every defense gets torched in the Big XII. Next comment.
So you’re saying Venebles is the answer?
I’m saying he was never the problem. No DC is going to come into this league and shut these offenses down. Simple as that. The “fire Venables” crowd was always fueled by delusions and nonsense.
Not sure I agree with you.
Many don’t. Still true IMO. Our defenses had some down games and even some down seasons, but he was never the miserable underachieving coach his critics made him out to be.
He never put a top 50 defense on the field man.
I need documentation for a claim like that.
Go find it on NCAA stats website. His defenses were routinely 51st to 64th nationally.
Last year it was #1, this year #7
So?
So thats pretty damn good, ya think?
Bottom line, like it or not, we do NOT have the defensive athletes YET to be elite. I have listened to all the 5 star flop BS I can stand. But u see what a decent DC does with that talent? Maybe we do need some 5 star bad asses if we want to compete for NC. What other proof u need?
We do indeed. Schemes are not enough when it gets down to it. Like Barry Switzer always said, the team with the better players wins. Sure he had a great wishbone scheme and solid defenses, but his ability as a recruiter and motivator were the keys to the whole thing.
link?
You can’t google NCAA stats and find it yourself or do you just not want to know?
As a matter of principle I don’t like making other people’s arguments or doing their heavy lifting for them, especially when it requires research. If you have a sound argument that you can prove without having to dig and compile lists from various sources, posting a link is certainly simple enough.
Didn’t he just shut us down? Hasn’t every DC shut us down when we play for title implications? Haven’t we never scored more than 19 points in a game with title implications?
Yes he did just shut us down. So are you arguing for or against Venables this time?
Against. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
I see. The double standard remains intact then. c’est la vie
I guess you win. His performance history here doesn’t matter cuz Clemson. LOL!!!
Agreed. Right now his defense looks better to me than Bama. Guess we’ll find out soon enough.
So we should’ve kept Venables and his 64th ranked defenses?
So when he goes to Clemson and has the #1 ranked defense, what is your response to that?
ACC.
see response to DCinAZ above
He coaches in a two team league in a basketball conference, one of which is his own?
We don’t have any marquee name DCs in the BIG XII. I think that’s more the problem.
Those DC’s acquired their marquee names while working in weaker offensive leagues….e.g. Kirby Smart.
I will go out on the limb and say Venebles has better athletes at Clemson than he did at OU while he was DC. He is a great coach and his defenses at Clemson prove that.
Agreed
Point taken. Feel better? Got that off your chest? I wasn’t part of the crowd clamoring to get rid of Venables, but he is gone. His defenses have whipped out tails the past two years. Got it.
Yes I feel much better. Thank you for asking.
Was Andrews hurt on the TD play? Don’t remember seeing him much in second half?
They were asking him questions after the TD as if he may have suffered a concussion. He played after that, so I don’t know if that had anything to do with it.
Wish we could have got him involved in second half.
No excuses.
Agreed on all counts. Riley still doesn’t have an answer for blitzes and Mike still can’t defend running QBs.
We just let teams blitz and blitz with no repercussion.
screens would be nice.
Yup, that middle screen can be deadly. If EVER used.
To be fair, Watson is a great playmaker. He was simply quicker than our defenders.
Yep. He had his best game of the year against OU. Kid is the real deal.
His unheralded running back is pretty ridiculous as well.
Indeed. And while Shannon played hard, we really missed Evan’s speed in the middle.
Yep
Agree . He ran like a man possessed and thirty pounds bigger than he was.
Texas game?
Geno Smith, Trevor Boykin, etc.
Yes it was.
Most likely wouldn’t have made a difference, but Clemson had the advantage of several calls, those among them. Too bad…
But two opposing calls one right after the other implies more than bad reffing it implies an agenda
Nah, it just always seems like that to the team on the short end of the stick. Most games, somebody appears to get jobbed. It’s just the way the ball bounces, imho.
Well if its not an agenda then I dont know what one would call it when only one of the teams is repeatedly getting the short end of that stick
The officials have good games and bad games, and it often seems like the calls go one way, especially when you lose. They got called for a sideline infraction, and a few plays later we got a warning, no penalty. If they lose, they see that as an agenda…
I believe we got a sideline infraction earlier in the game as well didnt we?
no, we got a ‘warning no penalty”
Well be ok.
Well, It was a good run. Sorry it’s over.
D had no energy tonight…I wonder if the warm weather had an impact. I’m not making excuses but curious why we looked like a different team tonight.
Clemmy ran a LOT of plays. We were shorhanded with Walker and Evans out, and the D was pretty gassed by the 4th quarter.
Not sure it’s fair the defense had no energy but as Walter said they just got worn out.
Yes not fair if the comment is read literally as having no energy. We didn’t look good in the first half until they reached our Red zone. Perhaps it was Clemson s speed that made us look sluggish.
It was. Those guys are big and fast. They went undefeated for a reason.
One thing about being passionate OU fans like we all are is the victories are sweet but the defeats are truly disappointing. It was a fun season; very entertaining.
It was indeed a great run. Hate to see us lose to Clemson two years in a row, but things are looking good for next season.
Their superior speed and quickness was on full display on that first drive. I knew from that moment we just wern’t going to be able pull out a W.
creepy
Very creepy. Spooky, even.
I hate Alabama. Despise them. But if they make it to the final I hope they destroy Clemson. I was disgusted by the cheap shots and lack of class they displayed. When their #94 intentionally rolled over on Perine’s leg I was furious. And I’m on sedatives!
Sorry can’t agree there. I despise Clemson after the way they abused us out there. But I still despise the SEC more.
Yeah, it’s a tough call, but the Clemmy wound is still fresh!
You know what…refs didnt help. But we didn’t come out ready to play in the second half. But it is what it is. We got a great team coming back. Just gotta keep pushing foward. Our young guys will obviously older next year and well still be deep.
Agree. But man, I’m sure going to miss Shep and Striker. Two of the best to come through Norman.
Definitely…I felt for the seniors. They’ll be irreplaceable for sure.
Petrine looked good early, but couldn’t get Mixon involved. I don’t know if we tried any swing passes to him.
Tried 1 or 2 early, but couldn’t get him going.. They hinted he may have hurt his own ankle really early in game…
Yea, short-medium range passes were working well. Would have been fine dinking and dunking it down the field at that point..
Great season. We will just have to add Clemson to the future payback list with USC, LSU and Florida.
I can’t wait to see Shep and Striker play on Sundays. Gonna be fun.
And how many noticed Clemson’s players just looked bigger? I had a suspicion before, but watching this game it was confirmed for me. It looked like we were trying to climb Everest out there.
Big AND fast. No doubt the best athletes we faced all year. Nevertheless, we had our chances to make this a game. Couple of key plays here and there.
Yep. Had our chances and looked weak in our attempts to seize them.
Actually, we had about 3-4 drives that go down to self inflicted wounds, penalties, turnovers…. Add in a few key injuries to that, and some questionable calls… too much to overcome. OU wins this game if those drives turn into TDs
I didn’t notice they were bigger. They were definitely faster at almost every point in the game.
They may not be when viewed up close and personal. But they looked that way on the screen to me. Especially at the line of scrimmage.
We can have another great year next year. However, we better be ready for the opener at Houston. You know Houston will be.
Cougars looked very good. Houston and Ohio State make for perhaps THE toughest non conference schedule in the country next year.
What’s the two deep next fall?

Who would ever have dreamed that Daniel Brooks grades would have hurt us this bad

I feel better seeing another team take a bigger beating on a national stage. Alabama is very good at tackle football.
I hope Clemson beats them, but damn Alabama plays some ball.
Clemson has no chance.
