– Jack Jones: Last night 2016 star WR, Jack Jones (Long Beach, CA) tweeted out that he will not visiting Oklahoma this weekend. Prior to that he was indeed expected to visit. As I mentioned earlier in the week Jones was an extreme long shot. Most believe that if leaves California he will head to Texas A&M.
Which leads me to…
– Velus Jones: Wide receiver, Velus Jones (Saraland, AL) is about the same size as Jack Jones and we’ve seen this current staff look to bring in different size wide receivers. In speaking to Jones last night I continue to feel very very good about where OU stands with him. My suspicion is the staff knows it as well and may have cooled their pursuit of Jack Jones. – (Super K)
– Tyrie Cleveland: A big fast, wide receiver that OU is pursuing is Tyrie Cleveland (Houston, TX). Cleveland committed to Houston last night. But in talking to folks with knowledge of the situation, I’ve been told that this one isn’t necessarily over. The Sooners continue to recruit Cleveland and Cleveland continues to communicate with the Sooners. – (Brandon)
– Parrish Cobb: Coach Kerry Cooks stopped by to see Oklahoma DB commit, Parrish Cobb yesterday:
Had a great time with one of the coolest coaches I'll ever meet ! @CoachKerryCooks #OUDNA pic.twitter.com/23wlhWjNH0
— 16' BU AA (@PctheDb4) December 11, 2015
I spoke to some folks around Waco who confirmed something to me that I’ve long believed, OU got a steal in Parrish Cobb. They say that Cobb is the best DB in the area, hands down. – (Super K)
– Jon-Michael Terry Visiting: An additional visitor that is expected to be on campus this weekend is OU commit, Jon Michael Terry. – (Brandon)
– Andraez Williams: Wanted to also note that, as we have reported, LSU CB commit, Andraez Williams was expected to visit this weekend. However, we are told he has a conflict and will not be able to make it. He has rescheduled the visit for January after the dead period. – (Brandon)
– (UPDATE Fri., 4:34 pm) Cedarian Lamb: My apologies, I forgot to add a few notes about OU’s most recent commitment. Last night OU received a commitment from star 2017 WR, Cedarian Lamb (Richmond, TX). I can tell you that I have seen Lamb in person and OU got an absolute potential stud. Something I always note in wide receivers is their ability, when covered, to turn, find and fight for the ball…and ultimately come down with. I was able to see Lamb do this in a camp setting when quarterbacks had thrown the ball very poorly. Folks in the Houston area will tell you that while there are some higher rated wide receivers down this way in the 2017 class, Lamb may be the prize of them all.
I asked Cedarian how it felt to be committed to the Sooners and he said, “Honestly, the best feeling in the world”. There is so much he seems to like about OU and scheme is certainly one, “The ability to spread the ball and get their receivers in open field…I love he offense…and the coaching staff”. He talked about how the updated coaching staff is “really making a difference…especially with coach Stoop being the great leader that he is”.
Sooners got a good one. Generally, there are some players in each class that I like…some that I think OU should’ve passed on. In the 2017 class, I can honestly say that there isn’t one commit I’m not a fan of (I don’t evaluate quarterbacks so I’m not offering any opinion on the 2017 QB commitment one way or another). – (Super K)
– UPDATE (Sun., 8:56 am): We are well aware of the situation with Sooners CB Jordan Thomas and were so last night as well. However, we’re also of the opinion it’s a non-issue. Hence why we’re not making a big deal of it. Which is not to be critical of others, we all hold ourselves to different standards. Because we do what we do here at TFB and the way we’ve chosen to do it, we have the ability to choose what we cover. Others simply do not have that same luxury.
So, in short, we’re not going to make a big deal out of something that isn’t. At this time there is no reason to believe this incident will affect his ability for the bowl game. Obviously if that changes, we’ll let you know.

Yay
Wait, don’t tease me on Cleveland.
Big tease. They only put it in there so you would keep coming back to the site.
They said the dame thing about Levi Draper FYI….
I’m just messing with Stephen. He knows that.
We need some recruiting dynamite over the next 7 or 8 days!
Announcements planned next week:
Elysee Mbem-Bosse 12/17 & Chris Daniels 12/18
Are there any other know dates for Sooner recruits?
February 3rd.
Too far away.
Fingers crossed for a WR
I would like to know the size of Terry. So many different reports don’t know what to believe. I’m just curious with the LB’s we are bringing in if he will move to the Hback/TE role. Again, I don’t know if he can break 4.8 but curious if you could elaborate.
Rivals says…http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Jon-Michael-Terry-165407
His high school roster at MaxPreps says…http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/jon-michael-terry/h-4L5iQ9EeS00gAmVebEWg/default.htm
I always fig he’d play the Bond role (not 007 lol…for Ray)
Not related to Open Post, so maybe I should put it in the other thread, but since this is the most recent comment board, will go ahead and ask it here (not sure what TFB rules/protocol are regarding this) –
Since Knight is staying through the College Football Playoffs and presumably attending bowl practices, who’s #2 on the QB depth chart behind Baker .. him or Thomas? And who do y’all think it should be?
I haven’t confirmed this, but have heard that CT has been taking second team snaps since the TCU game. I think it might have had something to do with Trevor’s decision.
That would be understandable
it should be based on what we saw against TCU
That’s what I understand also.
Paging @kj1234 (sp?)
My guess is that TK will imitate Watson on the scout team..like said below CT has likely passed him by
The recruiting is really picking up steam. They are gonna need to add some new wheels to the schooner so it can continue rolling along.

^^^ This loser is some KSU fan who’s neg tweeting all of our recruits and trashing us. FYI….
That guy is a serious dick.
lol did he say Snyder will be there another 15 yrs. I think he steps down after the bowl game
He’s coming back next year, but most feel that will be it.
I hear Ron Prince may be taking over. (S)
I’d like to throat punch that guy.
LOL, is that Saban’s twitter account?
I had to laugh when he said OU doesn’t run the ball. LOL. That dude is clueless. SMH
Troll’s gonna troll.
I love that statement of his “…Snyder and Klein are one-of-a-kind ….” Doesn’t that make them two of a kind
The ability to count is soooooo overrated 🙂
I think that guy posts here.
I know and somehow I’m tagged in his tweets and I blocked him a long time ago
I think somebody has an inferiority complex. He lived in OK for 7 years? That’s sweet. I’ve lived in in states from coast to coast, been to 13 countries on 5 continents, and there is nowhere I’d rather be than OK.
I was mad, then I laughed hysterically and hit “ignore”. Dude is trolling and there’s no need to get worked up. Every single fact is wrong. My favorite? You lost to half its league opponents in the last 365 days…..yknow, because winning the big 12 didnt really happen this year, or make the playoffs. Related note, this boomer145 guy needs more upvotes, he’s a solid recruite…eh….fan
I keep hearing Cougar fans say they will be in a P5 conference. Is Houston telling recruits that?
You know they are.
Last year Tuberville was telling recruits that they were going to the Big 12. and…………………………………..
http://i.imgur.com/5eHZDbs.gif
Ugh!
The big 12 will fall regardless of whether it adds Houston. Houston would just speed that up. There’s a reason the SWC does not exist anymore and we don’t need to replicate that now.
The reason the SWC no longer exists is UT and is the reason the Big12 is a shell of itself. Unfortunately, we still have that problem.
This!!! Would love to just get away from them for good.
You are not wrong.
Maybe not. It could help float the conference for a little, but it wouldn’t be beneficial to Oklahoma in the least, and that’s who we really should be worrying about. Am I right?
Houston is a waste of time. Let’s just take Rice too and change the name to SWC.
Better yet, let’s just rename it the Titanic conference.
For God’s sake, jump ship before it is too late.
Bring in Houston and Norte dame…
No more Texas teams or lightweights. If you can get ND, good. Then need to find another name brand.
With the recruiting success they are having plus the coaching staff has it figured out. I only see them getting better. Plus what other team is out there BYU?
Probably nobody, so get out instead of desperately trying to tread water.
Houston and who. WHO!!!

Did Mique Juarez just join us!?
Tentative Boom!?
Regards
Baron Boomer
Did I miss something
I think he might of meant that tweet as saying he’s heading to visit Norman.
Ah thanks guys the pic made me think he’d joined!
Darn Twitter talk is confusing! ?
Nah. He’s a loooooong shot. He’s just taking an OV.
Check out @miquejuarez3’s Tweet: https://twitter.com/miquejuarez3/status/675345329252773888?s=09
Check out his avatar.
Don’t like it Ray.
This whole thing was posted earlier today (below)- apparently, the avatar on his twitter account is where he visited last week. He’s headed here now (if not already here).
I don’t twitter so I guess it will be interesting to see if we become the avatar next week.
It’s been ole miss for longer than just a week. He visited ole miss when we played tcu. So like a month ago almost? Hopefully we can convince him to call Norman home with our Cali trio at LB
Correction, not posted below but in another thread/topic from earlier today.
Question???? Is that tweeter background Mique in a Sooner uni Sooner flag flying and all something that the OU department of recruitism does for all visitors?? and Mique is just using/re-tweeting?? Don’t know how all of this stuff works.
No idea
Just showing us some love no boom yet..
Take those big ol’shoes off and stay awhile.

I think if T. Moore makes the grades, he’s a sooner.
most of the experts on the various sites think that is a BIG ‘if”………….
I see a lot of Jamaal Brown in his game, plays and dominates on both sides of the ball, and could play either offence or defence at the next level..
Cedarian Lamb blocks like a mack truck. https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/video/rivals-spotlight-cedarian-lamb-055300609.html
Good hands and definitely has a little nasty in his blocking.
Think I’m going to be sick. Thanks for nothing, Billy Gibbons. You are dead to me.

Double dead too me !
Thought he was a lot more grounded in reality then that! Che used to line up farmers who wouldn’t go along with his revolution and shoot them in front of their families. What an impressive madman. Not.
Che was in love with being a psychopath. He had a hole knocked out of his office wall so he could watch the executions taking place all day long.
Some good MMA matches this weekend, starting yesterday really- continuing today (now on FS1) through tomorrow w/Aldo McGregor and more on Sunday.
Got a FCS quarterfinal on right now, too.
My W&M Tribe lost last week so I kinda checked out on the FCS playoff.
Never been a Aldo fan but I think he reminds us all that hes still the best pound for pound fighter…
should be a good fight- Like him or not, McGregor is a showman
He is and he’s backed it up so far… just don’t know if he can withstand the pressure and skill set Aldo brings.
Aldo’s leg kicks are brutal, will be interesting
His overall game is reminiscent of a ninja in a drunken bar fight..
That title has to go to jones, IMO. Hes beat tougher competition than aldo.
True he’s cleared house, but Weidman is starting to look unstoppable as all three guys has essentially took out any and every threat in there respected classes.
I think rockhold beats him. I really like weidman, but man rockhold is such a HUGE MW. Hes so effortless for a guy that big.
Rockhold suffered a severe setback in his loss to Belford but looked dominant against “the dragon” sold be a good fight of similar styles.
That was roidfert. I chalk that up to a little bit of performance enhancement.
I also think Luke Rockhold wins. But I think it’ll be close, especially if Weidman pressures him.
Anyone who can beat Silva twice without a big stick or mortal combat rules is scary good…
He’s a smart fighter. It’ll be good match either way.
Going with Weidman
Tonight is the The Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale.
yep, FS1
Can’t decide who I’m cheering for. I like Artem and Ryan Hall.
Would like to see Hall win it ( USA! USA! USA! ) but Im thinking that wont happen.
Yeah, hopefully Hall is able to give him a fight and not get knocked out in the first round. Crazy to think Artem lost his fight to get into the House with the way he’s fighting now.
First punch might do it but if Hall gets him to the ground it could go his way fast too.
The Wizard.
Hall
Another good fight tonight: Mendes vs Edgar. I’ve been waiting for this one.
Same channel I listed, a lot of prelims on now. I’ll take Edgar due to his heart- tough Jersey kid.
Yup. I think Mendes needs to stay on his feet or he’s in trouble. Edgar will out work him.
FWIW in regards to Juraez! Stills, Jefferson and Clay where all at one point considered long shots by even a lot of “experts” and they still found their way to OU, same with BY in this class, and even DeBerry was someone that people though OU would take a swing at and would miss on. Get them on campus and they see and they feel that rush, seems for whatever reason OU opens recruits eyes to things once they get on campus and they see it all. I am sure they have some incredible hype videos talking about the past and somehow incorporate those recruits into those videos, IDK but, I would say Juraez isn’t such a long shot he is on campus isn’t he and not many other schools can say that!
Reminiscent of the way we pulled Mixon out of cali, nobody thought he was leaving the west coast. Kids from that area and every where else for that matter want to play where they feel most at home and can showcase there talents.
Believe it or not there is those kids that want a change of scenery also, just like how some state kids want to go to UCLA, USC, ND, Miami, Florida etc. Just cause most view Oklahoma as a open stretch of nothing OKC and Norman are pretty nice and there is actually a lot to do around that area, not like we are in the middle of nowhere like OSU lol no shot at them but that is the reality!
Exactly some kids just want to play football and don’t care about the other stuff, and as you pointed out above, just getting them to campus and letting them see what a traditional power house looks like, and the vibe is the deal sealer alot of times.
Juarez is all about his team and about team chemistry. OU would be a great fit for Juarez.
I hope that is the case, think I read he is high on Washington and if not mistaken they have some pretty decent young LB’s there, but I would love to see him in a Sooner uniform. Mean I still want Kelly to be a Sooner more than anything that kid has the look of being a stud LB
He does have the connection with Joe Mixon so that helps. What I’ve been told looks like a UCLA vs OU battle with UCLA winning it right now. I know he’s taken OV’s to Ole Miss & Washington but I doubt he goes to either one of those schools. OU needs to roll out the red carpet this weekend for him and hopefully we make a good impression.
Well I am sure they will seems they usually do. But, what I like about Stoops and his staff is they seem to do that with all recruits not just the big names, make them all feel hey you are big here. I think if OU has a chance they will increase this weekend and if nothing else at least gave themselves a punchers chance in the end. That’s all you can ask for. Seems you know a lot about him and I would hate to lose out to UCLA on another big name but, fingers cross that he builds a bond with some other recruits this weekend and also has spoken to BY and Kelly, and I keep saying Kelly like it’s a done deal but, i feel he is one of those “silent commits”.
IMO I like OU’s chances with him
Especially since he decommited from Usc.. most kids I’m cali is a offer away from staying.
Kelly or Juarez or both lol? I hope you are right, why you feel that way though?
OU is a special place , you have coaches who care & love their players , the players love each other. Great campus , awesome fan base , good academics . OU is the place recruits will be flocking to very soon , especially if we win this championship this year.
Winning a natty does wonders for the school in general.
The fall semester of 2001, after winning the natty, OU had its largest freshman class enroll in history…at the time, don’t know about since.
OU is the place to be IMO , renovations to the stadium and athletic facilities. New uniforms every now and then. It’s time for OU to be on top. Like Joe Mixon said ” I came to OU to build a dynasty” , I believe this just the beginning of something special.
OU has 13 commits so far.
Plus about 4 silent commits.
Plus another 4 that are strong leans or a 50/50 chance of signing.
Should have room to sign 2 more.
The 2 shockers could be T. Cleveland and Kyle Allen.
23 total would be a real push.
4 silents are Kelly, Jones, Daniels, and Southall.
4 leans or 50/50 are Moore, E.. Mbem-Bosse, A. Bledsoe, and E.J. Price
Would be one heck of a class of athletes.
Moore won’t qualify academically, I have seen this being reported all over the place. He will have to go to an NEO or something like that for a year to get in to OU or any D1 school. I don’t think Mbem-Bosse is a 50-50 guy I understand him being a for sure guy not a silent but, a guy that likes us a lot, Bledsoe is a guy that I think is a silent have heard we are at 4-5 of them, the 4 you named and Bledsoe, Price would be AMAZING. Kyle Allen won’t be a surprise it is cause of the out of nowhere aspect, but he is a guy that can transfer and we put on a ship for next years class. Cleveland and Juarez our the guys I am saying the last minute OU guy, Greedy Williams and/or Brandon Burton could be as well.
What about Horton the LB from FSU or Valentin or other Oline I am missing…..Clifford Chatmon, leaving some off I know..Baylen Buchannon,
I think we have stopped recruiting some kids cause of silent commit’s. I think Valentine, Chatmon, and Buchannon we have kind of took a back seat on. Not cause they aren’t good just think we have other targets. Mean there is Eboh thats committed to Texas also but, I think our list is down to about 20-25 guys including Cleveland I am sure is very much in the mix OU don’t go away.
Who wants to play for Ucla? No tradition or future greatness on the horizon…
Agreed. I think more than anything, people underestimate Kish..because he doesn’t hoot and holla and appears timid. Field play, more than anything is what marks a great coach and he’s already landed an elite LB out of Cali. If he comes, fine, if not, we’ll be okay. Just make sure we get Kelly
Who is replacing Striker/Bond next year?
Good question. Curtis Bolton, Obo and probably rotate Tay Evans as well. Bolton would have played if he was healthy this year, dude is a mauler for sure. I wouldn’t also be surprised if they rotated in Deberry on the outside
Who is the the better prospect coming out Malik Jefferson or Juarez?
Well if you go by numbers and sites, Jefferson by a hair, Jefferson was rated the #10 best prospect overall in his class and the #1 OLB and the #1 player in his state, Juarez the #14 rated prospect in his class overall, #2 OLB and #2 in his state.
Juarez did just drop from 5th to 14th
Wait til he commits and see how far he falls… seems to happen to a lot of our recruits.
LOL true but, talent is talent, and I really don’t care where a kid is ranked as long as he wants to play for us!
Sometimes yes but in reality we had several jump up from 3 to 4 stars. Happens every year. And a commit to ou is automatically guaranteed a 3 star on rivals.
Zack has preached all along that he thinks Juarez is a long shot but, I know like me he hopes inside that the kid will be a Sooner! lol true isn’t it Zack
I hope we do. 3 of the best linebackers in Cali and in the country as a whole. I think it’s more likely we end up with bosse though.
He would be our most highly rank lb since Ryan Reynolds and could see the field as a freshman.
Yea but I could see BY and Caleb Kelly both seeing the field also IMO Juraez would no doubt be a steal for OU and I think it is a long shot but, I’d say anything can happen
This could be the best lb class stoops ever had.. match thst with the dline and db class we pulled in the past couple years this d could be reminiscent of the glory days.
See my thought is this also, recruits talk to each other and BY and Kelly are Cali kids also, so they both talk to Juraez and say hey why don’t we be the new Cali Trio and we all play the same position and we could be on the field at the same time. Mean just saying it would be eye opening and I’d be listening also. Agreed this could be a great stretch for OU
Could see a impact much in the way of the USC trio of Matthews, Cushing, and Maluga…
A good reason for Bob and Mike to stay around…they love Defense..getting the talent and right personnel to play how you need them to will get the juices going on them old fellars (not that they need help getting fired up but theres a dif between frustration and exhilaration). IMO Reynolds it the key guy on Defense to hang on too
I can’t disagree but man Cooks has been sooooo good this year mean he is really working with the same DB’s as last year and WOW look at them this year! Just saying, but yes Reynolds is a stud and well Mike and Bob are great remember Mike is now back to getting his kids out with BV’s kids and in with his kids mean some of Brent’s kids are still there and doing things but, hence why so many young guys are playing IMO!
He was the best replacement possible for monty period. He took a young but talent dline group and developed some quality dept while teaching proper technique in a cool calm demeanor.
Splitting hairs, really. Both are very, very good

LOL, so he turns them down and they make another run? Tell Charlie NO means NO! add that to his core values. Scared to take strike three I guess.
Read that they’re also after TU’s OL coach as well.
I can see them raiding Wake Forest next.

Wow! Texsa is officially the laughing stock of the country now. Maybe Charlie should kick 5 or 6 more kids off the team and claim it’s all in the master plan, LOL.
Unbiased tv analysis are piling on now its getting down right pathetic and sad.
Just wow!
I hear BON is on suicide watch.
Oh how the mighty has fallen… I wonder if they just pull up outside his house and just stand there holding a boom box playing a corny love song to prove he’s there one and only…

Got his 4 th star on Rivals. This class is legit…. Just when I thought we couldn’t top last year’s. 3 elite dbs at the moment. Abdul Adams also got bumped up, fyi
I want a top 10 class.
Won’t happen in 2016 with us only signing 18-20 commits at best. However we are off to a good start for 2017 with all four committments being 4* players which could easily lead to a top ten class..

Isn’t he only a Co-coordinator?
From what I read, this guys stuff should prob be taken with a grain of salt… prob know soon.
They must want to run the spread bad… and to think most of the success they had this year is credit to the head coach bringing in the system not a position coach…
Co, and I don’t even think he calls plays.
The short horns sure raid little sis alot.
Is Gilbert a genius or are the Horns desperado?
That is a good question, cause though I am sure he called plays for TU I am thinking most everything went through Montgomery and was ok’d by him so his numbers could be a bit cloudy. Not that TU was an offensive juggernaut.
Texsa’s program is really in bad shape overall, and it’s very clear they didn’t have the type of interest from the market in their OC position as we did last year.
Tulsa was very good, offensively. Even more so when you consider it was the new coaching staff’s first year.
11th in passing offense.
http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/25
14th in total offense
http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/21
I can understand Texsa trying to tap into any level of that offense.
In a weak conference though and yes they did some things against us but, that was when we struggled and again think most of that was Montgomery’s playbook and final word. I think Texas is looking at the OC who was just kind of the OC by name not cause he was the one calling the shots, again IMO!
I understand all that, they still got production out of a group of kids that they didn’t recruit in their first year.
They are desperate to try and keep up with what OU/baylor/tcu are doing offensively. Even if it means a low grade OC type.
I guess you are right. I may get hung for saying this but I like Charlie Strong a lot and want him to do well, but IDK that coming to TU was the answer. You make a great point again though EasTex
I feel nothing for Strong, not since he put on the diaper surprise orange. Liked him at L’ville.
His position and status in untenable, thus the difficulty in finding a good OC.
If you haven’t checked BON, check this…
http://www.burntorangenation.com/2015/12/11/9910062/texas-longhorns-fire-charlie-strong
I don’t want Charlie to do well as long as he his the whorns coach. He can go do well at Southern or where ever. Not at texas. They always have a good recruiting class and will be a threat at some point. No, don’t wish him well sir.
Gotta find someone that willing to take a chance and risk only a one year tenure and this alone is making people say no thanks.
They must have sweetened the deal…

I wish we had as many WR’s visiting as we do LB’s
Have patience.. gundy and simmons has us set up and will fix any lingering problems Norvell left.
Thank you I needed that nugget of reassurance
Gundy knows what he has on campus, and will bring in the proper talent as well. Plus where not taken anymore this year unless it’s a game changer type talent.
Move kish to WR coach.
LOL. Nice!
Just signed one yesterday:
https://twitter.com/JLMcCuistion/status/675424489362984960
He looks like a great pick up, love to land a gem for 2016
He’s a 2017 kid
So TK is “exploring his options” with the blessings of Bob and Riley. Seems fine. Imho, he’s may be the one player I can think of for whom this won’t be an issue going forward, no matter how it turns out.
The kicker (pardon the pun) is not just that the entire offensive backfield will be back, but that several key components of a potentially devastating O-line will as well. If you noticed the difference between the freshman performance of the secondary and this season, I believe similar things will happen with the O-line players as they gain an extra year of maturity. And while I’m at it, we’re bringing back a few pretty good players on the other side of the ball as well.
With all the problems Mike and Bob has had limiting a duel threat qb this year’s d might be the one that’s up to the challenge. With our odd front and the way our jack backers attack the edge and rally to the football. Plus our dbs ability to match up on on one with anybody. Could see us keeping Evans and Alexander in the box and try to stop the run first while eliminating there short passing game, and making him beat us deep in one on one match ups inside the pocket. This will disrupt their game plan they have ran all year and unlike us, don’t possess a strong ground and pound or have a lot of versitily outside of the Watson beating us with his legs and this here is the going to be the difference between getting off the field on 3rd downs.
“this year’s d..” Indeed. Most folks disregard the coaches comments about “what went wrong,” after the games, and just label it as coach speak to be ignored. But this year is the first in a while where they virtually never mentioned either communication or alignment or recognition problems. Vastly different from last season. The talent has for sure improved, but it’s more than that…it’s maturity, and being able to put guys out there who “get it,” as opposed to putting guys out there and hoping they will.
By my understanding players took a big leadership roll in holding each other accountable instead on pointing fingers. they said after Texas they had a players only meeting in which Sanchez and Striker said they won’t lose another F’n game and that s*** like that won’t happen again they where mad said Stoops didn’t have to say anything in fact was rumored that Striker told Stoops we got this and say what you want but, nothing more needs to be said.
Yeah, much has been made about the “players only” meeting, and I’m sure the coaches had a “coaches only” meeting as well. 🙂 This team seems to have a great vibe, and great leaders and the coaching staff, similarly behaves as if they are on a mission. Not sure how much stock to place in a motivational meeting (they sure look good when things pan out), but it’s clear that this team is serious about being accountable and the coaches behave as if they are on a mission. The team is loaded with talent, and the personnel and play calling adjustments after the Texas game were nothing short of brilliant on both sides of the ball.imho.
Plus can’t express enough IMO how much Mike being in the press box helps out.
Excellent point
For sure coach Rily adapting a run game and blocking scheme to fit our oline and all the coaches getting the right players on the field.
and making sure that many quick, get the ball out of the qb’s hands type plays were up and ready to go…and using them. That was a major change after Texas as well.
I expect Venables to see this and try to overwelm us and see this as a “weekness” and try to attack a strength now and we see his version of square peg round hole.
The thing I like about going against BV is his historical trend of being slow to make adjustments if he adjusts at all.
Hopefully he’s get caught up trying to pressure ghost players and our old playbook to relize Rily changes alot of thing from game to game. So in the end even though the Texas game exposed some holes we are totally different on all level schematically and personal wise.
I think both team’s defensive game plan will be eerily similar. Make sure there are enough guys in the box or entering the box to stop the run, first and foremost, then insist that qb not be allowed to break contain, force the qb to throw, and finally, take away the number one receiver and force him to throw the ball elsewhere to win. Simple. 🙂
I like our versatility and ability to stretch a defence deep or with power on any given play.
Yep. Need Baxter, Dede, Neal, Andrews to beat their coverage.
The sleeping giant was awoken for sure and like coach Lombardi said “it’s not weather you get knock down, its weather you get back up”
True it’s such a breath of fresh air to see no free runners or blown assignments and this alone could be the difference. But what I like about this team is the ability to get pressure with the front 3 and/or bond and striker allowing the dbs to play aggressive knowing the ball is has to come out quicker and has resulted on a lot of jump route pics and overall cofidence in each other and trust in ths system.
Going back, did we face any dual threat qbs? Akron aND Texas. Texas. Still don’t understand playing a three man front a majority of the downs against Texas. I need to watch that game again.
We played a freaking 2 man front!! Sombody came up with a bright idea to field a 2-4-5, and for some crazy reason we had oline men 5 yards deep in our face and got dominated at the point of attack that position grouping was never seen again and for good reason.
Dobbs hurt us until we started to attack the edge with striker and Bond. The predator was down right dominant!
I cannot believe it’s another two weeks and six days until game day, wtf
The only positive I can see in this is getting Perine, Mixon, and Mayfield 100%
I hope the Stanford back wins the Heisman. He has been ridiculous this whole season. Henry is another typical big strong, scary sec type back, but McCaffrey is a whole different level of talent, from what I’ve seen.
He would be my choice.
Can someone explain what a scary SEC type back is? Peterson? Murray? McCoy? Curious 😉
Perine.. in Lsu or Alabama offence he would win the Heisman twice and break all league records..
Agreed.
Yeah, but he’d gave that SEC bias working for him even if he had half the talent.
They would promote him like he’s the best rb to ever dawn an uniform with a sec logo on it…
Yeah, but he’d gave that SEC bias working for him even if he had half the talent.
wrong conference for McCarron…..the SEC is going to brag about the winner all winter long………
Get back to the kitchen.
he doesn’t play for Alabama or in the SEC——–which is why Henry will be the winner. SEC ‘hype’ ….
The folks over at BON better brew up some more coffee.
http://www.burntorangenation.com/2015/12/11/9930892/sterlin-gilbert-texas-longhorns-offensive-coordinator
You think coffee will be “Strong” enough?
I see your “”‘s. LOL!
I’m curious, does this mean that Gilbert isn’t confident enough in himself and needed Mattox to assist him?
Who can say? The entire matter seems dysfunctional.
Probably means he wanted someone that knew what he was doing since he couldn’t find one on the texsa staff. Also he probably figures that one year at 900k in a no-income-tax state was better than three years at Tulsa for 300k per year.
He was promised the head coaching job when Charles is booted and wanted his assistant in place. 🙂
I wonder what Major applewhite is doing these days..
Not sure if you were really asking regarding this, but as the wifey is a UH fan, have seen him this season as the Coogs OC
McGregor or Aldo?
Having a hard time gauging this one… McGregor’s aggressiveness might just get him into trouble.
Me too. Really tough call but Im leaning towards McGregor.
Certainly has the edge in the mental game
Im just going by the common opponent Mendes. But it wouldnt suprise me whoever wins this one.
Mendes took that McGregor fight on really short notice, too
True but I think what won the fight was that he let McGregor get into his head.
Ought to be a good one- just hope the storms don’t block out my satellite tomorrow
Agree, small margin for error in some of these matchups and certainly the case in this one
I really like watching McGregor but Aldo is just so technically sound.
This Jacksonville St v. Charleston Southern game is wild.
Didnt those two teams make up 1/5 of Bamas wins this year?
Only Charleston.
JSU’s only loss of the year was an OT loss to Auburn.
Jacksonville’s RB put up 250 yds rushing. But Henry totes deserves the Heisman /s.
Anybody else think Alabama’s gonna have their hands full with Mich State? They have a team that was built around serious defense, and were it not for injury to their starting qb, might have had a somewhat different looking season. If Cook’s shoulder heals and he’s healthy, ‘Bama could conceivably been in real trouble imho. Cook is not always consistent, but when he’s on, he’s pretty outrageous and combine that with a rested defense, I see an interesting game.
Nah. MSU is just one of many foolish teams who’ll try to beat Alabama at their own game and get crushed.
If Cook isn’t 100 percent, for sure that’s the outcome.
That’s the outcome either way. Bama will grind them into strawberry oatmeal. They have better athletes and more depth. They’ll outgrind MSU. That’s how they win the SEC every year.
Y’all may be right but it may also be one of those gamedays where it’s simply MSU’s time and Bama loses. It’s certainly possible. “They” told US it wasn’t and we sure proved ’em wrong.
They’ve been running there own version of smash mouth d for years and do it very different than Bama.. whereas Bama runs the 3/4 and beats you with there play makeing lbs. Msu runs a very 4/3 who’s scheme is very close to Tcu and loves to play cover 4 and is very discipline and rallys to the football better than most teams in the country.
Won’t matter. MSU doesn’t have the depth to last. Bama will play a grind it out game with MSU and MSU will give up the goods as the game wears on. Just like Florida did…..
It will likely come down to that for sure…
Yep. To beat Bama, you go OVER, AROUND, and then THROUGH. Just like tOSU did last year. MSU will go through, then around, then back through, and get ground into a fine dust as the game wears on.
It takes Big XII speed to beat Bama, the BIG lacks that so it’ll be a defensive yawner IMO
Agreed. BIG XII speed and BIG XII tempo to take the fight out of them and then pound them into coal. That’s how you beat them.
Plus a dline with depth to withstand the initial assault and still be fresh in the 4th quarter.
Or we may be in for a 6-3 snooze match and Coker hits a long drive to his te for a 7 run grand slam in the bottom of the 9th.
I think you have it right.
16-13 yawnfest
This is what I figure will happen. I think Bama wins due to Coker.
I think Bama loses because of Coker. I say tie ballgame going into the final 3 minutes, Coker trying to lead Bama into fg range, and throws a pick and Mich State goes down for the game winning fg with 1:30 minutes left. Coker tries to lead Bama down to tie or win, and throws a pick 6 that seals it for Sparty.
So you’re thinking extra innings?
There d was born to shut down Alabama running game it will come down to Coker and his jump passes.
The jump pass deserves the same discipline as targeting
The only real question for that game is whether there will be more points or punts.
I completely agree, people are sleeping on Sparty. They have a big advantage at qb and get the edge in the secondary. However that front 7 for Bama is do Stout. I think Bama ultimately wins but it’s a close one. 20-17 Bama
I could be wrong, but if the Spartans are determined enough I can see them taking this game.
No I don’t think this will be close at all. Michigan state struggled with a talentless Iowa team. They never lead against Michigan or Ohio state. They deserve to be in the CFP but they are not very good. I think bama will shut their running game down completely. The only thing that might help msu is if they can play some high level defense, if so this could be a 13-6 type of game.
Here is the only thing missing from the Texas coaching discussion.
https://ilovefundraising.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/popcorn-fundraiser1.jpg
Yeah, I’d watch, but I figure to catch the 3-D version about this time next year.
I have microwave kettle corn, I’m good.

gotcha… where might one of these need to be mounted?
In my home/office if this had gone on much longer. 🙂
Was hoping you’d take advantage of the setup…
Another Q: why the tick marks to measure volume?
For some that are seriously ill, all intake and output is measured.

I’m just glad the National Finals Rodeo is on so I’m not tempted to watch this sh%t show. 🙂
Now Jenks and Broken Arrow better babysit their OC’s because the Hurricane is a shopping
funny, true but funny
Riley to Tulsa? I kid, I kid. 🙂

Glad to see the guy makes a decision and sticks with it. Hopefully his game planning and play calling is similar!
Another spread O to the Big XII, hold on to your hats.
It’s an arms race.
Just in time for a newer innovation that stops the spread in it’s tracks- it’s source? OU of course.
Wow, flip flopper. I’m guessing his favorite breakfast spot is “waffle” house.
You are saying he has poor taste and no standards? 🙂
The spurs are quietly having a great season and nobody is talking about them as usual.
Not familiar with the Spurs…are they an OU FOOTBALL TEAM?
Lol sorry wrong board just thought I’d give them some love..
I think that’s who texsa plays in their bowl game.
Maybe they could take trip to the river walk see how running a successful team is like, and strong can learn how to coach with a iron fist without running your whole team off..
I hope the Thunder kicks their butts!
I wish I could become a thunder fan but it’s hard to throw away the memories and tears I’ve experienced because we have a “local” team.
I have to say that I knew nothing about professional basketball until they came to town but they have done a great job of building fan support here and now I love it. Durant in the last 2 minutes against Utah last night was astonishing. He sometimes makes shots that only a few men on earth can pull off and he makes it look easy! He made a couple that were so flat they appeared to have no arc on them at all and absolutely no chance of going down and then it looked like the basket just sucked them in. They had to be shot so perfectly that less then an inch in any direction was a complete miss, and then he did it a couple of times in less then a minute, and scored 11 points in about two minutes after having no points in the second half. That’s when you remember why he’s so great. I guess the old saw that 40,000 hours at anything makes you an expert is absolutely true! The Spurs are my second favorite team along with the Clippers because of Blake who several people I know are close enough to that sometimes he is at their homes, and who played against him in high school of course before he went to OU. His family are great people.
Being my least favorite sport (strongly dislike), the NBA’s Spurs win my vote as the best simply because they seem to do it quietly.
The quietest dynasty in the history of the game..
What an awesome performance by Ryan Hall. Fun watching him fight.
Fell asleep before the last two fight but had the presence of mind to DVR them- just got finished watching them… Hall dominated, Lobov looked handcuffed the entire fight- good stuff from Hall.
Edgar, the Jersey Boy, had some good strikes- caught Mendes right on the button which dropped him. Edgar jumped right on top of him and continued but I think Mendes was getting back to his feet when the fight was stopped- could have continued IMO but I’ll never take anything away from Frankie.
Aldo or McGregor tonight?
I’m going back and forth, but leaning towards Aldo. McGregor struggled against Mendes early and if he does that against Aldo he’ll be done quick. If the fight goes on for a bit, then I’d favor McGregor. This is really new territory for both of them– Aldo against a lengthy striker, and McGregor is facing an opponent far beyond what he’s faced in the past. It’s going to be interesting.
What an awesome performance by Ryan Hall. Fun watching him fight.
…
No one making only 98 bucks an hour will be driving a Mcclaren any time soon- even if “it’s the easiest work I have ever do” LOL Invest in an education, imaginary Vicki!
Maybe a McBuick……
Could do worse than 98 bucks an hour.
If it wasn’t a scam I would be all over it
Not for a car worth 8-10 million dollars.
When i went to jolly ol’ England back in ’94, i (against the rules) sat in a McLaren F1 at a dealership in London. It was only listed at 1,000,000 pound sterling. It was roughly $1,650,000 at that time. I was immediately asked to leave said dealership, but it was well worth it! I couldn’t fit in one now days.
parish Cobb got some love from Rivals , he’s now the 10th best db and No 127 in the country
I wonder how Baylor feels now that we have taken the best db in the state two years in a row right out of there front yard….
if / when LSU offers , OU may lose Lamb……..he is enamored by LSU
And why is that?
Funny how you make an open ended comment with no credible information to go off of. The problem with your theory is LSU has a terrible passing offense and Lamb has said he loves OU’s offense!
Good morning Stephen. Boomer!
Go back to your pineapple, Patrick.
Spongebob lives in the pineapple.
yep, I fumbled
Go make me a sandwich.
Where is my latte, boy! LOL!
I never got my damn sandwich. Somebody got lazy and took off the ball and forgot to shut the kitchen door.
Lamb staying with OU may be contingent on LSU’s interest….He likes LSU.
Good morning Stephen. Boomer!
Do you have an inside source or any info that led you to believe he is a LSU lean while committed to a school that will best show case his talents?
No he’s just trying to do what his reputation around here suggests. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt
Keep in mind, he said baylor would win by 3 TDs, so he has that going for him.
The Oklahoma d seen his “bold” prediction and used it as extra motivation…
That’s not it. Just one example of who he is and what he is all about. He downplays and impugns the Sooners consistently.
I know he is a troll that claims to be a ou fan yet predicts the worse and seems to enjoy picking a fight with all of us….
What amazes me is how many still reply to him, he should be in *ignore* mode, yet look at this comment string.
/amazing
It’s hard to stand idle and let stupidity go unchecked… but there’s no use in arguing with arrogance either…
It’s the Internet there is an infinite supply of stupidity. You can’t fix all of it. It’s like trying to teach a pig to sing. All you will do is frustrate yourself and annoy the pig.
Old Stephen just seems to push your piss off button.
It would be better if he would make comments worthy of the ban hammer but he’s just negative. He belongs on one of the other sites where negativity is not only welcome but is a requirement.
I wonder if him and the “dbag” from yesterday shared a milkshake this morning and decided to keep the negativity going…
He has. He didn’t get the ban. He’s made racial and gender preference comments. I was sure he was gone but he’s still here. What an a**.
I used to enjoy telling him to “kick rocks.” I don’t respond to him anymore. I think if we stopped, he will go away.
Trolls feed off getting comments. The only way the know to get the attention they seek is by saying things that will get a response from people. There are other ways like making intelligent comments, positive ones, or comedic ones, but some people only know how to be negative.
Lesson learned, you can’t fix stupid and you can’t control ones desire to let the whole world know..
I kind of enjoy his “insight.” lol He is harmless.
The best solution for a sh!t disturber is to ignore. It’s no fun when no one argues / exchanges with you.
AMEN‼️
And yet, we are still waiting to see if they win by 3 TD’s,,,,,,,,,oh wait.
Well if your going to make asinine comments that far out on a limb you need substance to back it up…
Unfortunately the only solution with this one , is /ignore
All things being equal, I’ll take his commitment to OU as solid. Nothing personal you understand.
The navy helmets for today are pretty sweet.
Our tax dollars at work
well spent
well spent
Agree, meant towards something good for once
Obama must not know about it
Bet he still won’t allow a fly-over.
Probably one of his smarter moves
Disagree, but he banned the use of military aircraft for flyovers quite a while back.
forgot the /s
Arrrgh!
And…..the flyover…not just 1…but 2….fly-overs…nicely done…
But..the streak continues…

Very sweet!

Those Army helmets are pretty sweet too!
To drop the other shoe, Cobb’s undefeated La Vega team whipped a very good Carthage team 32-3. One of the forums I visited the Carthage fans were astonished with the team speed of LV and of Cobb’s game in particular.
In the I can’t believe it department, sadly Allen’s winning streak ended last night at 57.
Even tulsa union and Jenks think there should be more parity in their class! 57 in a row??
They accomplished that with being an outstanding program and beating some of the toughest teams in the highest classification of Texas high school football. They have had many close calls, but ‘Eagle Magic’ always came through. Not last night.
Shattuck was dominant as well and had a simular streak, they was 8 man tho ..
There are three Sooners that contributed to that winning streak, Lee Morris,Tay and Bobby Evans.
Happy Birthday ET
Thanks for the good wish.
Are you asking if they won 57 titles in a row?
It wont be to long and they will be close…They have dominated class 6a to a point its sad. Only recently 6a was split up because the number of students was unfairly uneven across the state….has any other team won a gold ball since 99?
57 games won in a row / 3 state championships — quite the run for the Allen Eagles, lost last night by a touchdown
**BREAKING NEWS**
All verbal commitments for OU’s 2016, 2017 & 2018 recruiting classes are contingent on young men not changing their mind before they officially sign their NLI.

Texas is misspelled
Depends on the usage. If referring to the state it’s correct. If referring to that school in Austin, it is Texsa.
I think I need that one explained. Texsa?

ORU is no slouch- good competition to keep our boys sharp.
ND State vs N Iowa on espin now- should be entertaining.
Cool!
Looking forward to the Sam Houston St. game tonight.
Jacksonville St. plays the winner of this game and man are they explosive.
Kansas closest win this season was a tought loss to ND state. Can they use a “almost” win as a recruiting pitch?
They prob do
Funny, NIU takes the field to start on offense and the announcers say he has trouble throwing the ball, then bang makes a perfect TD throw.

Mute button > sliced bread
Just found the Colgate v Sam Houston game on an espn alternate channel.
Thought it was tonight.
I reading an anthology of Ohio Short Stories. The story I’m reading now has a guy they call East Texas.
LOL!
That was Gary Sinise’s nickname in Stephen King’s “Stand.”
Cool
Stu Redman. The good guy.
Happy Birthday East Tex!

Alright KJ, we’re looking at you – need some team updates.
In other news, the Army/Navy march of cadets is pretty awesome.
The Sooners have their first practice today. Don’t know what time.
Happy b-day brutha. Always enjoy our discussions.
The Sooners have their first practice today. Don’t know what time.
Haven’t seen an updated visitor list for this weekend. Who besides Mique and Tramonda Moore is visiting?
John Michael terry and rowdy Frederick from what I read.
Go Navy!! Beat Army!!
I’m loving the play of my Army brethren! Hooah!
They are playing well. Message to my fellow squids…”Damn the torpedoes full speed ahead #”
Being the first go around for our guys in the playoffs, it really gives new meaning for the tired old phrase “we just need to focus on one game at a time”.
Mens BB about to get started. FSSW
May not be able to watch start to finish but I will watch some for sure.
I am hoping we jump up early
Being at home will help.
Hows the crowd look this week? Now that football has a break, I’m thinking more will begin to show up… I hope. This team is too good to not have a decent crowd.
Appears to be decent on tv, not a packed house but full around the bottom.
Spangler hitting some 3’s. That is going to make this team just that much better.
Anytime your center can hit 3s and hold his own on the low box, with our outstanding guard play sky is the limit, and a deep tourney run is in our near future…
Better bring it in the second half, ORU not going away.
They have hit some good shots. But I think that our guys were a little sluggish at times on D. Think our D will step it up after getting their ears heated up by the coaches.
ORU is a really solid squad they are 8-2 and their losses are to South Carolina and New Mexico both are which pretty good squads themselves SC is 8-0 and New Mexico is 5-2. ORU is already battle tested, I think OU will pull a SC and pull away in the 2nd half as ORU can’t compete with a faster deeper team when it gets late!
Dang Spangler always in the right place.
Wish Spangler was our TE.
Is Buddy Hield our best guard since Hollis Price? We had some decent players come thru over the years but none seems to come close to his scoring and overall command of the offense…
Ricky Grace, Mookie Blaylock…
After Hollis Price…
ok
Corey Brewer was outstanding and Nate Erdman as well. Brewer over Erdman though
Quiet in here today.
It was. 🙂
Don’t get me fired up
If I remember right? Happy birthday Eas Tex ?
If it is, we should get him a tater tot layer cake.
Or ….enroll him the tater tot of the month club!
The gift that keeps on giving. 🙂
Yes sir! The possibilities!
I could eat that right now!
Same here, dat luuk guud.
That looks delicious! Tasty too!
A orange bowl win in convincing fashion seems fitting and deserving for his hard work!

Tator Tot Utopia
Yes. A Tator Tot Bonanza!
Ooo000ooh…Nice.
Yep, went back and looked, you are correct. HAPPY B-DAY EasTex.
Thanks, bud. Don’t know how you remembered.
Me thinks someone forgotted our Men’s BB Game Thread…
Anybody going to Bedlam tomorrow?
Ford is still deciding if he want to get thrown out before tip so he doesn’t have to watch another bedlam beatdown…
Wrestling.
I’d better see some recruiting updates soon or I’m going to cancel my membership
ORU at 43.8% FG %, pretty good against us.
Really good against us. They are a pretty good team. I am glad this game was winnable while at the same time not a walk through.
They beat Tulsa who beat osu.
OSU has lost to two OOC pansies for the first time in 30 years or something. Travis Ford was so mad he went to his sons high school game and tried to tell them how to screw up like a cowboy or something and was ejected from his kids game! WTF. Another dumpster fire at OSWHO .
50% of our scoring today from behind the arc; salty!
What happens when we have an off game shooting from outside? Do we have an inside game?
I smell a nice raise for LR coming:
https://twitter.com/FootballScoop/status/675779682818637824
LR would be worth every bit of that.
He will be compensated and rewarded for the job he did we tend to keep our coaches fat and happy.
Hopefully he saves every penny and only signs a one year lease on his house…. Gilbert not Riley!
That’s what smart money would do.
Sold his soul and stability for money and a arm twist from Strong.
So…….Strong armed? 🙂
He Was Strongly pushed in the corner after the deal didn’t seem Strong enough at first
He’ll bring the spread offense in, will prob have decent success.
It better be immediately and culture changing, the foundation isn’t very Strong at the moment….
That is stupid of Texas. They just try to throw money at their problems. They do not have a QB on campus to run this system. I agree we need to compensate our OC but Texas is just stupid.
JuCo maybe?
sure they will go that route but at this point there is not much out there. I see this as a desperation move by Texas to lock an OC up. There is no way this young man is worth that kind of money.
Here’s his resume:
http://tulsahurricane.com/coaches.aspx?rc=2&path=football
I heard you can get lucky with a walkon every now and then…
Don’t they have a QB commit for the team that beat Allen, TX last night?
They have a good one committed but is he ready to step in as a true freshman?
Actually, I think he’s a 2017 kid anyway.
Brown set them back by taken Swoops even after he struggled his senior season, and not having a plan b.
Shane Buechele Arlington, tx 2016 looks good on paper but so did Brantley Gilbert…
Shane is the real deal. He was very impressive at the Elite 11 and was one of the top QBs there. Unreal competitor and great arm. I wish he wasn’t going there.
He will be playing for major applewhite in two years in chaos and uncertainty…
Giants don’t sleep forever. I’m sounding like a freaking UT fan which I’m not. It is a mess there and always will be. However, with this offense they are putting in, a lot of QB’s can run it will success.
They have talent but brown sunk this program to Blake like dark ages..
On paper who’ better him or our boy Kendall?
Shane, hands down. I like Kendall but at this point in his game, Shane is much more advanced.
I watched Kendall’s senior highlights the other day and I don’t think I’ve seen a recruit throw better ball. It’s very impressive.
I got to go with Boom here seems he knows a lot of what he is talking about. I think Kendall will get better in time but Shane may be a kid that can play tomorrow where as a Kendall has time to learn and grow and maybe develop into the better players overall cause maybe his ceiling is higher.
I think Brantley Gilbert is a country singer… https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brantley_Gilbert
Both had immediately success then lost there freaking minds and faded off to absorbity…..
I think I live in absorbity!
I Pulled a Jason Seahorn…
Perhaps Garrett? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Garrett_Gilbert
I’m not even a fan of his don’t know how this happened… stupid bro country smh
They do.
That is one of the reasons they went after Cumbie…..they saw what he did with the TCU QB. I suspect they think the guy from TU will be good with the QB’s too. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think the guy coming from TU called the plays there. BIG adjustment if he wasn’t.
I said the same thing yesterday that I believed that Monty called the plays and he held the title. But, I was told to be happy for the guy and not to hate. Not hate and I am happy just hope the shorthorns realize that it is likely the situation they are facing. Sure he knows the play book and I am sure he can coach well but, after 1 year at a program like TU you throw that much money at a guy that was learning on the fly under another great mind and his playbook, REALLY?
http://tulsahurricane.com/coaches.aspx?rc=2&path=football
It’s an even better deal because he’ll get to make the last 2 years payment while also working for someone else.
FWIW, I think us no having a whole list of recruits this weekend is more than Idea. Coaches can focus on the few we have and really go all out, and you best believe the Juarez was the biggest on campus and I would assume he was treated as such. I would guess red carpet and then some was rolled out for him!
Him and Moore was co-guest of honor…
Na man, Moore already comes through enough. He is a kid that if he wants to be a Sooner will be, it’s between us and lil bro for him. They taking care of Juarez tho for sure!
True to that Juarez is a once every couple year lb talent and prolly stayed where boom suggested. Moore is basically already living on campus..
Mean he is getting same attention BY and Kelly did, and I know that with BY it was a heated race between us and Oregon and that visit gave us the call and ended his recruitment early. Seems Kelly had a great visit also, and rumors are since then has been a silent commit to OU. Juarez is a kid they will try to wow for sure!
His size and speed haven’t been seen since pre injured Ryan Reynolds…
Reynolds was more an inside LB and was 6’3 and 231 coming out and Juarez is an Outside LB and is 6’2 and 222 and in comparison DeBerry from last year was 6’2 and 235 so he is more comparable to Reynolds IMO. Point is Juarez would complete the best LB class in the country and the best since the USC trio, of Magula, Cushing and Matthews.
That’s interesting I made the same comparison yesterday.. they definitely look to be in the same mold and pocess the same game changing talent.
Even if we don’t get a Juraez. You pair Kelly and BY with a DeBerry that’s a real nice trio, throw Juarez in and that’s a nightmare 3-4. Especially, you have Daniels, Gallimore, Overton, Southall, Bledsoe, and a Terry playing up front
Kelly has been rumored to be a silent commit since like February.
Even better lol. I like that kid a lot!
Prolly staying in the penthouse at the Stoops manor.
He probably got a cookie and a cake.
Didn’t someone mention that he and Mixon know each other? I might be mistaken though…
Yea last night Scott said in reply to one of my post that Mixon and him have a history together and seem to be tight. He also said he feels its between us and UCLA and that the Sooners could make huge strides this weekend if they play their cards right!
Both are cali boys and I’m sure he was his host for the trip.. gotta match up 5 star talent with another 5 star..I’m sure Bolton was around as well.
Bond, Bolton, Byrd, Mixon, Quick, Samia, and Todd are all Cali kids, so is BY and Kelly and I would bet both have talked to him!
Bringing that cali swag!
Well for the trip it may not be a bad idea to have kasatati around. If I’m not mistaken Juarez has some Samoan genes.
Doesn’t Samia also?
So does Kastita and Alvarez.
They’re Cali kids, but they’re all from FAR different areas. In fact, Mixon and Juarez are about 6-7 hours away from each other. NorCal and SoCal are like 2 totally different states.
Still chances for “how about our flaky Governor” and stuff like that LOL.
This is true. I mean Cali kids will have things to talk about, but all I’m saying is someone like Juarez probably won’t have as much in common with Mixon as he would, say, Derrick Woods if he was still around. LA kids will (normally) get along with LA kids and probably even OC (North) and Riverside kids, but just because they’re from Cali isn’t a guaranteed match… might as well be from Canada in most cases.
It is geographically, and population wise, so huge that I can see that many of these kids are growing up farther apart then others are that are in different states or even 2 states away. Good point.
I grew up in North Orange County, so I have a lot in common with people in South LA, Riverside and places like that, but like nothing in common with someone from, say, San Diego, apart from we both live in Southern California. People in Northern California are like farmers and stuff…or worse, fans of the 49ers… it’s like a different world.
Farmers…you are a typical So Cal. Ha! But no doubt, until you live here, you don’t realize how separated the whole state is.
We got two from Canada too hehe
I know gallimore hows the other?
St John
I know gallimore hows the other?
We got two from Canada too hehe
Hopefully Toby Keith is on tour somewhere
Can always roll out good ole JR he loves his Sooners!
Most Excellent Army/Navy Game! Go Navy!!!
Good back and forth game.
Turnovers doomed Army. Still had a chance with the Hail Mary. Fun to watch.
Now colleges from sea to sea may sing of colors true
But who has better right than we to hoist a symbol hue
For sailors brave in battle fair since fighting days of old
Have proved the sailor’s right to wear the Navy Blue & Gold!
Go Army! Beat Navy!
Quintessential college football game. Doesn’t get much better!

This is the best backfield stoops has ever had….
I’d have to agree, especially with all next year at least. Mixon has barely scratched the surface. If Perine improves as much as he did since last year……whoa. Have to stay healthy & play the games, but sure looks promising.
The only group that could compare is, kejaun and ad, and Demarco and Chris Brown… while brown and Jones was steady and had a good career neither was a game changer…
Statistically the comparison between the Bradford, Murray, Brown and Clapp backfield and the Mayfield, Perine, Mixon and Flowers backfield favors the Bradford backfield. Sam threw for 4,720 yards and 50 TD’s. Mayfield has thrown for 3,389 yards and 35 TD’s. Murray, Brown and Clapp ran for 2.243 yards and 34 TD’s. Perine, Mixon and Flowers have run for 2,040 and 26 TD’s. The Bradford backfield had 596 receiving yards and 7 TD’s. The Mayfield backfield has 429 receiving yards for 9 TD’s.
Also the Bradford backfield also had Mossis Madu who ran for 475 yards and 6 TD’s and had 84 receiving yards. Alex Ross has 173 rushing yards for 1 TD and no receptions. Net net the Bradford to backfield to date has produced 1,331 more passing yards, 16 more TD passes, 203 more rushing yards, 8 more rushing TD’s, 167 more receiving yards and 2 fewer receiving TD’s.
We need to also remember that the Mayfield group is not through as it has one or two more games to add to their stats so they will come closer to Bradford’s crew especially if we play for the national championship and have one more game than Bradford’s boys. Should we also win the championship this year that will be a major feather in the cap of this year’s class when declaring who is best.
Talented group we had then. I don’t think Kevin Wilson got enough credit for what they accomplished, he was ahead of his time.
Nobody was ready for it and we was able to take the country by storm. Unfortunately injury derailed us against Florida…
Yeah, some key injuries and the month for the gators too prepare. Meyer said he couldn’t have had his players ready for the pace if he hadn’t had that extra time.
I heard he had two offences on the field preparing for our warp speed.
I was just thinking of the RB’s only. 1-2punch. Statistics are interesting though, thanks for sharing. The 2008 team was on fire all season too, these guys didn’t have an Oline performing until after Texas.
As far as #1 & #2 combination, I’ve got to say this appears to be the best.
It’s definitely the most dangerous and either one could take it to the house in a blink of an eye. Me personally I like that threat versus a running back that just “consistent”.

The thing that sticks out in your post is how good the 2008 offence was and how much not having Murry against Florida really hurt our quick strike offence. Murry was the X factor that could change at any moment.

I haven’t looked at the stats for comparison, but that was the second year for that offense and they were lucky enough to play teams that weren’t prepared for that speed. Teams are better prepared for these types of offenses, especially in the Big 12. I’d say that plays a big role in statistical differences.
Sam and the boys benefited from a much more experienced line and an established offense. That made a big difference in their numbers.
Especially compared to 1st half of this year
Also remember the line that Bradford and company had. Imagine Baker working with that all first round crew? Bradford would probably be lighting up the NFL if he had ever had a line even close.
If we play for NC we’d have played the same amount of games as that team. They had a conference championship game.
I loved ’08 and all the high scoring games. That said, if I had to pick which offense to take — ’08 or ’15 — I would take ’15 with Mayfield, Mixon and Perine.
’08 had stars all over the place, but ’15 with the deadly trio have the ability to drain five minutes off the clock with surgical precision. That is the sort of thing that wins championships. They can get up on you, then whittle the clock away methodically. Meanwhile, all the opposing team can do is watch from the sideline as OU puts the game away.
Mayfield’s savvy, Mixon’s elusiveness and Perine’s raw power is wicked. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it in the Stoops era.
No Shepard?
I left out Shepard because the run game is where this offense differs substantially from ’08.
That team and this team had playmakers at receiver. That team and this team could be lethal through the air.
This team, however, can literally grind a game away. They have the stable and QB to sustain long, soul-crushing drives on the ground that demoralize opponents. ’08 could do that to an extent. They were just more of a quick hitting offense. This backfield can convert from a fast hitting backfield, to an armored division.
In fact, one of the reasons this team doesn’t have the passing yardage of the ’08 team is precisely because ’15 purposely slows the game down, at points. That is what I love about them. Just watch the Baylor game. We ran their defense ragged.
Baylor was beaten with 4:30 seconds left on the clock — because we knew, they knew, the crowd knew, aliens watching the game in a galaxy far, far away knew that OU was just going to make that clock evaporate.
Like I said, all props to Shepard. He is one of the all-time greats, not just as a Sooner, imo. I just have a deep admiration for this current Sooner backfield. To have two NFL backs lining up side-by-side with such versatile skillsets is something we’ve never had at OU in the Stoops era. It’s a thing of beauty.
AD and AP
Almost forgot about Allan Patrick.. he was damn good!
I have a strong feeling that Mixon may have a breakout game against Clemson. No real basis for it except that I think we all know that we haven’t even been close to seeing all that he can do. I was really impressed in one of the highlight videos showing some angles we haven’t seen how fierce and powerful he runs. If they key too much on Perine it may just give Mixon an opportunity to shine.
I have never seen a rb hurdle defenders in a live game and look so smooth! Kid is ozzing with athletic ability and combines it with a physicality you just don’t see… what makes our two back set even more dangerous is anybody can take it to the house on any snap..
Especially if Perine is blocking for him.
He was ranked the #2 fb in the country out of high school.
Who the hell was #1? Bo Jackson reincarnate!?
A more “polished” blocker I suppose…
Committed to LSU, so he must be better than someone committed to the Sooners, right?
Hey don’t get me confused with sd that was sarcasm above.
Lol, yea, totally sarcastic. SEC – SEC – SEC
What is this sec you speak of???
Im guessing it was Fournette
Daniel Gresham, SMU was ranked ahead of Perine in the Scout ranking and Perine was ranked as a 3* recruit.
http://www.scout.com/college/oklahoma/topic/2014-football-fullback-prospects?type=players&league=HS
Rivals had Perine ranked a 4* and the #13 RB. He was ranked behind seven SEC RB’s, Royce Freeman of Oregon, Adam Choice of Clemson and others.
https://rivals.yahoo.com/oklahoma/football/recruiting/rankings/rank-rivalsrb/2014
247 Sports ranked Samaje as a 4* and #15 RB behind basically the same players as did Rivals.
http://247sports.com/Season/2014-Football/CompositeRecruitRankings?InstitutionGroup=HighSchool&Position=RB
He just asked who #1 behind Mixon and I thought it was prob Fournette…Boy those guys sure got Perine wrong lol
One helluva fb…he plays rb as well
I went back and checked it out and he was rated as a RB.
In fact, Samaje was rated #15 behind guys like Fournette, Dalvin Cook and Chubb (talk about being underestimated) as a pure RB, while Mixon was the #1 rated All-Purpose RB in the country.
However you slice it, OU doesn’t have a backfield: they have a two-headed monster.
I could see that happening if Venables hasn’t curbed his old negative tendencies. Used to be the middle of the field was a playground for explosive Big XII offenses against a Venables D.
OU has some serious weapons they can deploy to hit the middle of the field. Andrews, Flowers, Mixon, Shepard and Westbrook are all lethal if given room in the middle.
I think I remember hearing Toby Rowland say something about how Mixon was learning how to run lower by working with Perine, and that they keep challenging each other to become better. Love the teamwork and friendly competition. With Perine the better pass blocker and power runner and Mixon the better receiver, they can definitely help each other become better and set themselves up for awesome college and pro careers.
Perine’s not a bad receiver either. I was so surprised and happy to see him make that catch in the end zone against Tennessee. What concentration.
It definitely is. Someone was trying to tell me Mixon wasn’t an NFL quality back. I have a feeling he watches a lot of Canadian football.
No doubt the dude will be successful at the next level. His skill set and blend of power and speed is unheard-of.
It definitely is. Someone was trying to tell me Mixon wasn’t an NFL quality back. I have a feeling he watches a lot of Canadian football.
its as good as the OL in front of it…….this year’s OL has made steady improvement. Whether it has improved enough to handle the Clemson or Alabama DL’s ———–?
The Murray, Brown, Madu backfield behind Sammy B. was pretty stout.
I would still give the edge to this backfield. We’re talking about two legit NFL backs there in Perine and Mixon. Both of those guys have potential to be all-time greats at OU. Murray was on their level, while Brown and Madu were good, but not all-time greats.
Having two backs like Optimus and Joe Main back there is almost unfair.
Murray/Brown =/= Perine/ Mixon, IMO…maybe if AD and Murray played at the same time. Current 2 starting backs are most certainly going to be 1st rounders. Heck that year is going to be ridiculous. Elijah Hood, Fournette, Chubb, Perine and Mixon, it’s just ridiculous
You are probably right. An underated class was in 2012 when had Dominique Whaley coming off a huge year, Damian Williams who had a huge year, Brennan Clay, Roy Finch, and Millard and Ripkowski at FB alot of talent and steady players. Could have been great if Whaley hadn’t got hurt and Williams proved to be immature and ended up being cut but a load of talent in the backfield!
Sweeeeeet.
“They were successful only because they ran against Big 12 defenses.”
Tennessee had problems two years in a row… Clemson can watch film, practice, and prepare but they don’t have a player on their scout team to mimic both Mixon and Perine.
Yep. I was mocking the argument that I often hear.
I thought it was sarcasm…
And Mayfield as well. But we don’t have a Watson or Gallman on our scout team either.
Not being too familiar with BB so was wondering how unusual it is for a team to be shooting close to 60% from 3 pt range compared to 50% inside? haven’t checked every game this season but it seems they are shooting very well from outside, no?
Yea, shooting 35-40% from 3-pt is good. Shooting 50% real good, and anything over that is nuts. This team is shooting lights out right now. Hope it continues.
Thanks for the reply. Kind of what I thought but wasn’t sure.
Texas pushing Carolina in Austin.
Texas pulls the upset on a buzzer beater. I thought the ball was still on his fingertips. But, oh well.
Texas being Texas…
Either they need to take remedial math class or a typing class.
Trying to reinvent the Harvard/Yale football tie and failing miserably.
LOL!
LOL!
I like the ut bb coach from his time at vcu……….b12 should be fun season
Shaka Smart is a great coach. Hate that he went to texas.
unfortunately, I think he’ll be a very good recruiter…….we’ll see
We’ve got our own in Kruger- quality person and coach.
They have a Strong and a Smart. Put them in a blender and have a winner?
Yep.
Glad we have Lon, but we went after him hard and would have been a winner here.
Keith Neibuhr of 247sports tweeted a picture of Bob Stoops with a coach in Atlanta. Caption was Stoops in Atlanta looking for LB. Who is in Atlanta area that we have interest in?
Bosse
Thanks.
I’m counting on you to keep me updated on the Tigers. All I get here in Dallas is a replay of last year’s Katy v Cibolo game.
That Katy’s defense has only allowed 55 points in 14 games is amazing.
Game was this afternoon. Katy won 38-0. Katy will play Lake Travis next week for 6A Div II Championship.
Game was on FSSW here, but I think you had the OU BB game up there. I did not have that game.
All I had heard was that Cibolo had a tough defense and that Katy was on upset alert. Glad the Tigers took care of business.
I watched some of the Mansfield v LT game. LT is a solid team, but they feasted on turnovers today.
This game was not as close as the score. Katy put a physical beat down on Steele. I think that was Katy’s 10th or 11th shutout this season. They are impressive.
Katy’s defense is approaching legendary status. Not in the realm of the 1983 Daingerfield Tigers, but similar.
“Daingerfield finished 1983 with a state record 14 shutouts in 16 games
on their way to the Class 3-A State Championship where they shut out
Sweeny, 42-0 at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco.
I’m still amazed Head Coach Dennis Alexander’s 1983 Daingerfield team
allowed only 8-points total, in 16-games, and even more amazing are how
those points were scored, both in non-district games against Class 4-A
programs.”
http://www.smoaky.com/news/View.php?ArticleID=3220
That is impressive. Unheard of at any level. You would think over a season, a turnover or something would give opponents a few “easy” scores.
In that story I linked, when they made a bad snap on a punt and gave the other team its only points..a safety, the coach was furious. Made them run sprints on the field after the game. LOL!
I remember most of these teams but I did not know the details. I do recall that Yates team and the Dallas Carter team. Thanks for sharing this article.
Lovie Smith’s Big Sandy high school team was very good.
I remember most of these teams but I did not know the details. I do recall that Yates team and the Dallas Carter team. Thanks for sharing this article.
WHOO-HOO!!!
Correct me if I’m wrong your from Ohio? Who plays the best quality of football Ohio or Texas?
I live in Dallas, from a small town in East Texas…thus my nic.
I know nothing of Ohio(drove through there once) or their high school ball.
Sorry I thought I seen somthing on here relating you to Ohio.
Looks like Northshore will beat Judson and play Westlake for the 6A Div I championship. Still cannot believe Allen lost.
I know it. I watched a few Westlake games during the season and their defense didn’t impress me.

Thx.

The entry way in my home is smaller than Bob’s
My house is smaller than stoops entry way
Is that a gladiator shield above the door?
What door? I see a gate
Thats the coat closet
Probably a mote on the other side.
It looks like a castle.
It is.
It really kind of is castle.
I will say I’m sure all the recruits have met bob’s wife and probably his kids as well but this is the first time I’ve seen his wife in a photo with a recruit.
Mique was the only one over for dinner? Wow.
Well I hope striker, Dom, Evans and bond are there too. Might be good if Rufus stopped by since he’s living in OK now doing a show on the franchise.
Probably just those 3 in that particular pic
Next year we have Alexander and Evans.. Bolton and B Evans…But who takes Striker’s spot? Do we have someone who can attack the qb close to Striker’s ability?
Id move Bolton outside if he hasn’t put on too much weight and still has his hs quickness…BTW Its Tay Evans….One of the true fresh might also get some looks…I fig DeBerry and Obo on the other side but possibly both of them are on the field at the same time..Bolton would be my top guess though
Tay Evans. B. evans is a OL men. Thanks. Tap and Striker and Bond will be missed.
Reload
Not sure, but I thought I heard Bob mention Ogronkwo in that role in a very positive way.
#1 lb recruit in the country deserves nothing less… gotta impress you never know when a difference maker of his caliber will come to town looking for his new home..
For real. Mique seems to be genuinely interested.
I still think he ends up somewhere in Cali, but if there is even a slim chance you have to roll out the red carpet. This is the kind of LB recruit that can influence the shape of a defense.
Well I guess that tweet and picture of BS in Atlanta was from earlier in the week. Way to be on top of it 247sports.
Fam…Stoops making it tough on the kid to stay on the coast
What more could a kid ask for, FOOD, FAMILY and MARY K!
Mique @miquejuarez3 1h1 hour ago
This is soo funny
I wonder what he means?
…this is so funny…cant believe I just committed..was gonna wait until NSD
Don’t know. He stood up OSU and left their coaches waiting in the airport for hours. Didn’t answer his phone or return calls. Never got on the plane.
He’s a smart kid and knows home when he sees it..
Really?
Don’t care about the feelings in Stoolwater, but still…not cool.
Yeah. Kind of a d*ck move if you ask me…..even if it was OSU.
Everybody stood up a lame date to hang out with the hot girl lol…
Not cool.
Your word should be your bond. To me it shows a lack of self-respect.
True all jokes aside it was disrespectful no doubt.
I had never heard that before. Where did you hear this?
It’s on the recruiting forum on LT.
Okie dokie
Well if it was posted on LT it must be true. I think I’ll give the kid the benefit of the doubt until I hear it from a reputable source.
As well you should.
Did not know that about OSU. That is pretty immature. Maybe he is just having fun pulling all these coaches “chains”. I don’t think he leaves the west coast.
Henry won the trophy. Perine next year.
https://twitter.com/Andy_Staples/status/675863220985462784
Hunh, Baker in 4th.
Wonder if one team has ever had two guys in the running, next year: Baker and Samaje 😉
Jason White and AD v Bush and Leinart.
Could even be triplets: Baker,
Perine and Mixon.
Don’t know, but would make for a good trivia question if there has been.
Yes, OU in 1955 or 1956 had 2 of the top 4. Tommy McDonald and Jerry Tubbs. Many thought that they split up the Midwest vote and cost McDonald the Heisman.
The gap between 3rd and 4th indicative of the Heisman campaign starting too late for Mayfield
Part of that was because ESPN all but gave it to Fournette from week 1.
How many time do they let FBaum vote anyhow?
People actually voted for Boykin and Cook?
I’d have been very happy at the beginning of the year to have known that Baker would finish fourth and well ahead of Boykin for the Heisman.
Whatever happened to the Trophy site that always predicted the winner with ease? Congrats Henry. You won so easily b/c the Southern writers rigged it. The fact that Fournette came within 200 points of Mayfield tell me that BM was left off most ballots (unless he was given third place). Pretty shameful. Will this serve as any extra motivation?
Baker finished fourth in voting.
Big drop off after number three but have to admit, it was still a remarkable year and probably not a single sooner fan who would trade Baker for Henry!
I guess “most outstanding player in college football” translates to “most generic” or “most interchangeable”
Not to take anything away from his good/great season but I still think there’s about 10 guys who could do the same thing in that situation and 2 of them play for ou.
I would say baker and mcaffrey were the most outstanding.
I believe McCaffrey was most deserving, but what do I know. I thought AP and Andrew Luck should have won during their great seasons.
Mcaffrey’s all around impact is something I haven’t seen. Maybe Reggie bush but I don’t remember him returning as often maybe he did though.
But looking at the way baker lifted the entire team is why I think he is deserving. Plus he had 1 more total touchdown than Watson, in one less game.
AD*
Shoutout to Coach Lippe and the Adair Warriors on their state title.
Hardest player to replace next season?
You can only pick one.
Mine, Shep.
Striker
Shepard. Need a WR to step up and be the next “go to” guy.
Striker… both will be missed on and off the field.
Shep. Striker is special but we are deep at LB.
We are deep at LB. But not sure we are deep at disruptive LB.
Edge rushers/jack backer is a unique position and takes the right athlete and skill set.
Really counting on deberry to take over either vacated spot.
Bond and what he brings to the table both as a edge rusher and run stopper is worthy of honorable mention …
Ty Darlington. We have plenty of WRs and LBs ready to take the next step. We don’t have anyone with real experience at center.
We’ve been blessed for many, many years at Center. Habern, Ikard and Darlington. We can only hope the next one is as smart and technically sound as those three were/are.
I suspect Coach B will get someone ready. I just haven’t seen anyone playing much other than Darlington this year. In the Air Raid the center makes the line calls from what I understand. Replacing the center is like replacing a QB in a lot of respects.
Alvarez looked the part and seems ready to slide over seemlessly.
Not really concerned with the physical aspects of it. There is a reason our centers are usually the smartest guy on the team. They have to read the D, make the line call, and snap the ball when the QB signals. Doing that right requires repetitions.
He is the next guy in line and I will go as far as saying it will be his job to lose in the spring.
Like I said above, not trying to knock Alvarez. If I were to guess, center is where the player with the fewest snaps at his position will replace someone next year.
For some reason he doesn’t fill me with confidence.
When Darlington was hurt I thought he played well some people went as far as saying he should of remained the starter…
Not trying to knock Alvarez, just think center is where we are least prepared to replace someone.
The only guy left on the roster with experience is Alex Dalton.
Eric Wren.
I don’t think you are getting my point. The point is, that whoever takes over, has not had many game snaps at center. Because of the way we play, most of our LB’s and WR’s have at least some game experience. But we have almost no game experience at center. Whether that is Alvarez, Dalton, or Wren the walk on. It’s a pretty demanding position because we ask them to read the defense and call the play for the rest of the line. If the center can’t do that well then the whole line has problems.
I understand what your saying and I’m just pointing out the next guys in line..
I have been concerned with his upper body strength since the spring game. He does better when he is firing off the ball, gets bullied a lot in pass pro. I’m concerned his lack of upper body strength will be a liability at Center when he is having to absorb the bull rush after snapping the ball.
I hope Smitty can help the young man get stronger.
I thought jw or k sung his praises.. pointing out his ability to hold his block at the point of attack, “has no wasted energy”, and plays with a mean streak as well you might be right he might not be the ideal fit at center. Just can’t think of another player with meaningful live game reps
Just my concern after having watched him and having played mostly guard and center.
Some think the weight of the player matters most, not me. To me it is their strength, quickness and excellent technique.
Luckly we don’t have to truly worry about this problem til April…
These guys are going to have the next 8 months of Schmitty.
Habern was a beast!!!!
Ikard spoiled alot of us…
Not sure Alvarez is a Rhodes Scholar or anything but he is a 2nd Team Acadimic All Conference Player and he actually started 2 years at Center in High School. I got good faith that if Been Baugh say him play center and says he is our guy he will be great!
He was also academic all-state his senior year in high school.
I also trust Bedenbaugh and will wait and see who he chooses.
Shepard……..makes good QB’s better and better QB’s great!
Shep for sure
It’s a toss up between shep and striker. Both are going to be tough to replace but I will say striker is so gifted with his timing that I would give him the edge because of that.
Dalton Wood, without a doubt. It’s not really close either.
LOL!
Wow! Tough choice. Shep or Striker? I’d have to go with Shep.
Shep and Striker are bad enough however, we also lose our second best OLB (Bond) and another of our top wr’s in Neal. A lot of stepping up to do next year.
Agreed. But the talent is there to step up. It’s the leadership that will be missed. BM will replace some of that on offense. Perine and Mixon? Hell, Perine could do it in the weightroom. But who on defense? Evans maybe? The spring will be revealing.
Shepard for sure. He takes over games. Striker too but I think Eric is a little easier to replace.
Shep makes miraculous catches. So unless we replace him with Mother Teresa, there’s about 5 great hauls a game we won’t have.
Toss up between Shep and Striker, can’t replace a Shep but we do have some nice looking Wr’s and Striker is just a beast will be hard to replace him and his production and his being disruptive. Sure we have talent at LB also but no one so far has looked like Striker
Adding to RBear’s question, who makes the biggest impact next season?
Mayfield continues to prove he’s the best walk on since rudy…
Why include Rudy? He only got in one play.
His legacy and proving all nay sayers wrong is on par…
Agreed he was a walk-on but hardly on par with Baker or J.J. Watts or guys like them. Don’t believe everything in the movie.
I remember a game (TCU), when Mayfield concussed. What a difference the 2 halves were. Mayfield’s impact is paramount.
I remember Perine and Mixon both going down early in the 2nd half, too.
True, but the rushing didn’t seem to fall off dramatically like the pass game did. It was almost non-existant. My memory Samaje came back in after the injury and ran for a TD. Passing?
I know TK had a bad game, but it wasn’t all on him. Even Riley said he screwed up with his play calling. After his entire starting backfield went down it had a devastating effect on the entire team.
Hard to lose that many talented players in such a short time and still make things run. If you lose one, you can focus on the others and use their talents. But when they go down as a group, it takes some time to rethink your strategy.
Both Perine and Mixon had some nice plays when they got hurt. If Perine hadn’t been able to hobble to that TD we would have been in trouble. Daniels couldn’t gain any yards while he was in.
It would have been nice to see TK rise above it and find a way to lead us down the field, but it was obvious to me that the team’s confidence was shaken.
Flowers as well…Parker saved our season
It was scary to see so many second team guys taken snaps with the game on the line..
I was texting with a buddy of mine during the game. I looked back over my texts and it was…”Baker out”…”Perine is down”…”Mixon is down”…
“This game has taken an ugly turn.”
Perine showed heart and earned a lot of respect in this one that td run on one leg, absorbing that hit and showing his speed in the open field took a lot of heart and grit..
I’m gonna go with mixon. I think they will find new ways to use his abilities. I can’t pick any one player on defense because I think they will all be solid and if Sanchez stays it may end up being one of the best defenses we’ve had.
As long as deberry is ready… gotta replace both edge rushers..
DeBerry can’t be a Striker IMO but I think we can also mix things up the D-Line should be pretty solid which should allow any one of our LB’s to make plays
With our odd front our jack backers are the main pass rushers imo. Plus we have been blessed with one of the best Stoops has ever had in Striker, and his side kick Bond is not a slouch by any means…
With Shep being gone, I’ll go with LR working Andrews into the mix a lot more.
I think it has to be Mixon as he could be the 3rd down or when we need a play guy to replace Shep, IMO of course!
https://twitter.com/Coach_Diron/status/675868734624505857
Southall and Daniels take notice, and join the good guys while your spot is available.
Adding to RBear’s question below. Which incoming player will have the biggest impact next season. I’m going with the Juco WR Ryan Parker.
Does incoming include RS Freshmen?
Ask me after the recruiting period and after I have an idea of all the recruits we get. Right now of the 13 it would be easy to say Parker or Hardy as the others are likely to be backups or redshirt. That JUCO lineman could find a spot on the line however but we get Kelly or Juraez I would say they could play. Think Price, Cleveland, Jones, or Burton could all make an impact if we sign either 4 of them.
https://youtu.be/DbpIW2KXe6w
Osborne’s face is priceless!
Tom looked like someone peed in his Wheaties.
That’s because they did. 🙂
That’s because they did. 🙂
Love the way Stoops’ voice trails off at the end…Has a legendary sound to it.
Sooner men with a big win vs ORU today. Team looks very good and is poised to make a run at KU’s dominance in the Big 12. Absolutely love this team but I do have a concern as we head to the heart of our schedule. My concern is that maybe we are falling in love with the outside shot and ignoring an opportunity to develop a low post scorer. I know we have Spangs but he is not a back to the basket type player, more of an opportunistic scorer. Lattin and AK together had a pretty strong game, combining for 9 points, 8 rebounds, 6 blocks if my my memory serves me correctly so maybe my concern is misguided. However, as we run into the good teams that can take away parts of our offense I would feel much more confident if we had a big that could post up with his back to the basket. Lattin does not seem to have a soft shot and AK is very much a work in progress, but I do believe that AK could develop a nice soft hook shot that could very well save our season down the road. Not criticizing Lon but would like to see some effort to develop an inside half court offense as there may come a critical point in the season when our outside shots are not falling.
Well…at least the Weidman/Rockhold fight was worth the money.

Well no discussion about JT getting arrested? Word on LT is that it is for failure to appear for a speeding ticket.
Yeah it’s been confirmed on Twitter
Whaaat?! Well thats no bueno.. Possible suspension coming?
I read about it last night. I dont want to think about it. It makes my brain hurt.
Link? Not finding any
https://twitter.com/bradyvardeman/status/675928404194004992
The good news is that I figured this was back in Texas. However it’s Grady county, not sure that makes a huge difference but if he has to wait around to attend court sometime next week then it’s better for it to be near Norman.
Whats your thoughts on possible suspension? Seems to not be too big a deal, but certainly never looks good to get arrested..
Well as long as he finishes or already finished his finals, then there shouldn’t be any issue with the school even though it’s not a good look. Since he will have to miss at least a practice then I would just say he’s going to get to spend some holiday time with Schmitty. Anymore punishment outside of that would surprising to me. Staying the weekend in jail would suck enough.
https://twitter.com/BradyVardeman/status/675938949047697408
My take away, he is a legitimate 6-2″.
My thoughts exactly.
Will probably be suspended then, he’s way too smart to keep getting in trouble. Very happy for Coach Cooks Job on Dakota Austin though!
We’ve been very lucky with off the field incidents this season. Hope this doesn’t spoil it. A suspension may not happen – this is a very minor offense, probably just something he forgot about.
Yeah, not sure this is one you suspend for. Since he ended up spending some time in jail I might label it as time served. Though I suspect Stoops might see it differently.
If it’s a speeding ticket issue, if’s not an offense at all.
I live in Ohio. I got a speeding ticket in West Virginia once. The city was near the Virginia/West Virginia state line. I wasn’t about to drive nearly five hours to contest a speeding ticket.
Nope, just send in your check! JT must have forgotten this part! lol
He could have forgotten. FYI: they don’t take checks.
HA! figures.
Don’t get pulled over in West Virginia again though, or you’ll get to test your theory that you can’t be arrested for failing to appear for a moving violation, LOL!
The fine has been paid.
As I said in a post several days ago, this is the time of year when coaches move, players transfer, and athletes get in trouble . Happens every year.
I can’t see a suspension for the Clemson game. Depending on how much this causes him to miss or to take away from Bob and the coaches time to prepare.
It’s Grady county. He’ll be out Monday morning 9 am.
If it’s true that he fail to show up for a speeding ticket, why would he get suspended? It is not required that you show up if you intend to pay the fine.
Thats a good point..
If it is not required, then why did he end up in jail?
If he didn’t pay the fine, his license would be suspended. If that’s the case, that’s different.
Plus, I’ve been witness to some bogus actions by legal system. If it’s only a speeding ticket, there’s no way he should have been arrested.
And that creates a little bit of question about what is really going on. It is probably still nothing, but you have a set of facts that don’t quite add up to what all is being said.
You nailed it.
A warrant is a warrant is a warrant. Some are so serious, they come find you for them; others, like this one, they wait until you do something again, like speeding, and then they take you in, because of the warrant. They have to. Can’t just let someone go you stop who has a warrant. Can’t.
I get it and I agree. But getting arrested for failure to appear in court for a speeding ticket, something is not right. If he intends to pay the fine, he’s not required.
Agreed. But the court could care less about his “intent to pay fine.” If he didnt pay it (even if he forgot), or show up on court date, a warrant is automatically issued. Then, when he is stopped again, for any reason, they have to arrest him if he has a warrant out, even for a speeding ticket, parking ticket, jaywalking…whatever the warrant was for.
My sister-in-law works for the court system. He would have been notified by the DMV that his licenses are suspended. There’s more here.
Does not have to be the case. When I was going to school, my address changed about as often as my classes. I didn’t always go down to the DMV to update my address. He may never have received the notification.
Plus, I’m not sure they automatically suspend your license for this, but I am sure they automatically issue a warrant if you miss court date.
I believe that would be part of the process, but not 100% on that.
Not necessarily, You keep fanning these conspiracy flames. It was just an FTA.
My question is, if the court could care less…why woudn’t they? 🙂
Miss a court date, and the issue of bench warrant is automatic. You could possibly have a warrant issued, even for missing jury duty!
I wish they would’ve cared less though! lol
HA!
Clearly they couldn’t care less.
Many years ago, when I was going to college, I got a speeding ticket. I wrote the check and made the mistake of placing the envelope in one of my text books. I never mailed it. I went on my way thinking that I had paid the fine. Some time went by and I got pulled over for an inop taillight. Guess what happened next. Yep, arrested, car towed and impounded. Bad day all around. Things happen.
Baker ended up with 34 first place Heisman votes, coming in 4th.

update added
“Which is not to be critical of others, we all hold ourselves to different standards”
Jordan, This statement seems very pompous to me…and IS being critical of others who are interested in this situation. Since when do we start acting like we are better than everyone else? I’m certainly glad you have such “different standards,” but to come across like everyone else is a fool for being interested in a starting player getting arrested, seems unnecessary to me. Of course we are interested, a STARTING player just got arrested. Whatever the reason is, big deal or no, this is not a “non-issue,” and deserves some light shed on the situation.
I, for one, had not heard anything of this until I got on TFB this morning, and read a few posts. IF TFB had known about this last night, I would have rather you all put this information out, and have explained it to us, as to WHY this isnt a big deal, rather than ignoring it, and then saying you didn’t feel the need to report it, because its such a “non-issue” to you, AFTER you realize your posters are discussing it.
I’m extremely grateful for TFB, and for you Jordan, as you provide so much information to us, for free nonetheless; but treating people like they are fools, or stupid, seems quite contradictory to what TFB stands for, with your “higher standards.”
Seconded.
https://twitter.com/ryaber/status/676059398503010305
Agree.
Ryan Aber just needs to make sure he’s as diligent reporting on other athletics: if he reports the arrest of a tennis player, member of kayaking team, to name a few, then he has a point. If not, then he’s proven to be dismissive of other athletics and not merely reporting the news as he claims, then I don’t care for his selective reporting.
Damn ppl are way to sensitive on this site. I dont see the big deal in what was posted in the update. Dont see how they are treating others like fools. I dont see why we have to dissect every single thing that is posted and make a big deal of it.
I for one would be bored out of my skull without TFB. I’m just glad they provide us with free, up to date and great info
Me too Jason, and I for one have never attempted to criticize a TFB post before this, as I’m just grateful that this site exists, like you. But the latest update just struck a chord with me. It just came across to me that anyone who is interested in a starting player getting arrested is a Fool, and I took offense to that.
Daddy R, I would agree with you. The commentary on “others” isn’t necessary. All of us here appreciate how TFB handles their business. And if we don’t, we can communicate with them directly to question the how or why. The openness of the mods / contributors is one of the great things here. I just hate to see the criticizing of others in order to point out out TFB is “different”. We know TFB is different that’s why those of us here love TFB.
It may not be a BIG deal like a DUI, as someone suggested on Twitter, but it is of interest to OU fans, like the ones here on TFB. The update this morning without the commentary of others would have been fine. You don’t always have to be first with the news in order to be the best source of news.
I hope this comes across in the right tone. TFB is the best Sooner football site by far, thanks for what you do.
“I hope this comes across in the right tone. TFB is the best Sooner football site by far, thanks for what you do.”
They absolutely are, HANDS DOWN. So grateful for this site, but yes, the always concerned with “others” gets in the way occasionally from how good this site it.
I agree with what you said. Maybe it could have been phrased differently. Essentially Jordan/tfb are just stating that they don’t want to get involved with this kind of rumor talk. If they do then the site turns into the same thing you see over at LT. You’ll have heated discussion because some bonehead will say “Thomas should be kicked off the team”
I see your point, and frankly, thats probably all it was. Update just could have been worded much better…
DaddyR, we see this all too often with Jordan. It’s become laughable. He’s constantly mocking every sport writer in this market as quacks. Just Thurs, he mocked Guerin Emig’s story on Knight seeking to transfer as “borderline journalism”, then when the story had been proven true and picked up and reported by every outlet imaginable, Jordan wrote on Friday that it was no big deal and a non-story. I’m sorry, but when a captain and QB is seeking a release to possibly transfer, that is something that an OU fan site should be reporting to its fans. My God, if it’s big enough news for ESPN to be reporting on it, it’s a big deal!
Jordan has adopted the attitude that if TFB didn’t break the story, it’s not newsworthy, which is pretty sad.
But you see , you are using the same shallow thinking. Even TK has said he doesn’t know if he’s even leaving. Said it would depend on finding the perfect fit. He’s accurate, This is a non-story at this point.
Wow! That’s just plain stupid! Your team captain asks Bob Stoops for his release weeks before the biggest game in the school’s recent history, and it’s a non-story! What a joke! You and Jordan are the only 2 people who feel that way. Whether TK leaves or not, it’s a story!
By your logic, why report on kids visits, or even their commitments? They can still change their minds, right? It’s a non-story until he actually signs his LOI, correct? Geez! It’s scrolling on the bottom of the screen at a show that most college football fans and recruits are watching! Yeah, but it’s a non-story.
I didn’t say don’t report it, but this overwrought handwringing is silly. He hasn’t made any decisions. Before the bowl game or after is irrelevant unless he has announced he is leaving before.
Your next lack of a point is ridiculous.
Non-story would be, “the story is false, TK did not ask for and was not granted a release, it’s a non-story.”
A popular story would be, “TK has asked for, and was granted a full release to begin looking around at possible other schools. Again, I stress possible because, although TK is looking, there is no guarantee by anyone, TK or the coaches, that he is actually leaving just yet. More on this STORY to come, whether or not TK decides to leave. We’ll keep ya updated! 🙂 ”
The second version seems much more accurate of what I would have expected to hear, when a potential player of TK’s prominence is mentioned in transfer rumors.
why don’t you people that complain about Jordan just stay off the site and try to be a little more appreciative of free information. if you were paying for this you can complain all you want. if not, just don’t read the articles with his name on it.
Yes diablodejalisco, because what I said was sooooo vile. Especially the last paragraph…
Much to do about nothing, a college kid fails to pay a traffic ticket. At least there’s pro football on today.
Failure to appear is like the jaywalking of driving offences.
I’ll be surprised if anything more than internal discipline is necessary.
I’m curious, did they serve a warrant, and actually go arrest him for this (seems unlikely to me)? Or did he get pulled over again, and they found out when they ran his name?
Sounds like he was pulled over for speeding and they discovered his unpaid ticket, so they took him in, per protocol.
It’s a knucklehead move, but very minor. He’ll probably be left with the ticket, but everything else will likely be dropped.
It’s not protocol if you have a pending speeding ticket. They can only arrest him if his license to drive is suspended. It is possible to get a second ticket for speeding before you have paid a previous ticket.
If you didnt pay the fine, or show up in court, then a warrant is issued. If he had a warrant when they stopped him again, they HAVE to arrest him, its the law.
But see, that missing piece of him being stopped again hasn’t been reported. If so that means their is another “crime” in play. Probably just another speeding ticket, but there is a piece missing here somewhere.
Agreed.
They don’t issue warrants for not paying a fine. They suspend your licenses. If you’re stopped, you are subject to arrest.
They do issue warrants for failure to appear in court. And all speeding tickets have a “pay by, or appear by date” on the ticket. Failure to appear in court, does result in a bench warrant being issued.
Here ya go:
“Consequences of Failing to Appear
In addition to charging you with a crime, the court can take various actions if you fail to appear.
Bench warrant. If you fail to appear in court when ordered, the judge can issue a warrant for your arrest. You could be taken into custody at any time after the warrant is issued. For instance, during a routine traffic stop the police officer can access information about the warrant in the state’s computer system and will take you into custody. In a serious criminal case, the judge also may request that police go to your home or work place to execute the warrant. Once in custody, you may have to stay in jail until a hearing on your failure to appear.”
http://www.criminaldefenselawyer.com/resources/criminal-defense/crime-penalties/failure-appear-court.htm
I can’t believe the court system would behave this way. This seems like a case of targeting JT because of his athletic status. I would call for an inquiry to see how the court system has handled issues for anyone failing to appear in court. I will bet you, considering all of the serious crimes being committed, that the court system does not issue warrants for matters such as this.
May be hard to believe Sam, but they do. Failure to appear in court for any court date, can, and usually does result in an issuance of a bench warrant…even for a speeding ticket. The court and the criminal system do many, many things you would probably consider unnecessary, or overkill.
Daddy R fleshed it out further. While the police wouldn’t arrest you just for a speeding ticket, if you failed to appear in court a warrant is issued immediately.
It sounds like he was pulled over for speeding, then the cops arrested him for the outstanding warrant. It is standard protocol.
The purpose of appearing in court is to defend yourself. Not appearing is admission of guilt. At that point, the fine needs to be paid in 90 days.
The warrant is the only reason he was taken to jail, by the sounds of it. That is the only news worthy aspect of this situation, because failure to appear is, again, basically the jaywalking of driving offences.
I expect very little to come of this.
Yeah, there is some missing piece that makes all of this add up that hasn’t been reported.
From personal experience, this usually one of those things that happen when you get pulled over the next time. Had it happen twice when I was around his age and attending OU. It is stupid, thoughtless, embarrassing, and humbling. For me it wasn’t the arrest(s) that was the big deal, it was the careless attitude that I had that put me in the position to be arrested. It would have been easier to pay the $65 “driving left of center” or the $55 “failure to obey traffic device” tickets or show up to court to try to make an arrangement, rather than getting arrested and being responsible for nearly four times that amount in fines and court costs.
It was hard for me to ask for help back then. My pride would get in the way. The embarrassment of those incidents helped me get over that.
Seems like this happened a few years back, with multiple players. Just can’t recall which players.
I feel badly for JT. Getting arrested and processed sucks.
My only concern is I hope he didn’t miss practice yesterday or today, if they have it.
Meanwhile, in other news…proof Texsa still sucks.
https://twitter.com/NewsOn6/status/676065940191121409
Like strong storms and winds only happen in Texas.
That would require a fierce straight line wind if not a tornado for that to happen.
I saw yesterday that there were some tornadoes in tejas… not sure whereabouts..
We missed out on the worst of it here in Dallas, but looked at radar yesterday afternoon. The central and eastern part of the state got hit hard.
Tornadoes in December… crazy.
Tornadoes in Washington state in December is even crazier.
That is one ill El Nino.
That was out in the eastern Panhandle around McLean at the edge of the Caprock.
Yes it would require very strong winds indeed.
It’s just a joke texan.
I’m not a texan, I’m a Proud Texan. One that loves life and a good joke when he sees one.
Never said it was a good joke, just a joke.
You mean Texas ‘blows’
Read more carefully, he said “Texsa” not Texas.
About half the team is from Texas. Don’t lump us all together because of that Austin team. LOL.
Okay: I called my sister-in-law. She said a warrant could be issued if he was summoned to appear in court. He would be summoned only if his speed was excessive: for instance driving 20 mph over the speed limit in a school zone. She said if the fine is paid, all is good. So, considering the semantics, JT pays the fine, I don’t think anything will happen: it’s just a speeding tickets.
lol. Agreed. PAY THE FINE! But a warrant HAD to be why he was arrested, unless he did something we dont know about..
He didn’t show for his scheduled court date.
Ugh. Not great when a guy who’s already been suspended twice for not taking care of basic business gets arrested over a speeding ticket. I imagine this is no big deal, but clearly “lesson not completely learned” yet. 🙁
Or just a traffic violation.
That must of been a serious FTA warrant if he got booked over a speeding ticket. Unless it wasnt his first FTA.
It’s my understanding, that all warrants result in possible arrest. Even for “trivial” ones. Unless its a criminal one, they aren’t “coming to get you,” but if you get pulled over again, for whatever reason, and a warrant (even for FTA) pops up when they scan your name, they have to take you in.
They CAN result in an arrest. If its a no bail warrant then the officer has no choice. If the warrant is like in the thousands then maybe. If he has an a few FTAs then yeah I can see that too. The officer has the discretion. Without knowing more its hard to tell. Bail out go to court Monday and get it handled.
And don’t miss any practice time!
Exactly. Good thing theres no practice tomorrow.
How about today?
Nothing today either. Maybe just some film study. Practice was scheduled for tomorrow but Bob cancelled it because of Finals. Maybe to help out the kids that were busy travelling last week for the awards.
Good deal.
Only 18(*agonizing*) more days to go.
Even if it’s just one. we are talking Grady county here.
It’s Norman, you didn’t think they wanted money?
I think the cop that arrested him on his warrant was the same one who popped him for speeding in July.
Someone has a crush.
Sounds like it’s personal: seems like he had this one on his calendar.
I figure my LEO son could never work in our home town; he’s too much of a Sooner fan. He couldn’t bring himself to carry a quota for profiling/busting OU athletes.

Swanny’s video found its way to the OU coaches. Coach Bedenbaugh is using it in a tweet telling recruits they should come block for these guys.
Yeah, thought it was worth posting again- along with his own take.
Maybe we need to start a “go fund me” page for JT’s speeding ticket?
Stand down.

Thanks for the sacrifice, stadium is going to be fantastic.
At this rate, they could be ready for the spring game. Speaking of which, what is the plan for the spring game?
Don’t know that those dates have been set.
For the spring game it would be cool to have a TFB seating area. I’d come up for that with a little tailgating before hand.
It’s not JT’s fault he’s got too much speed for you.

Thanks RBear as that was an interesting read. I knew he went though a lot but that was a crazy upbringing. Street smart coach who became the KING.
Great story about Coach Switzer. Due to be in the January 2016 Men’s Journal magazine….

It’s a great read. Took awhile to get through multiple pages online. This will probably be the first magazine I’ve bought in 10 years

Thanks for the link.
Wonderful story.

Greyed out. Subtle sign…
Of what? Color blindness? LOL
Thanks. Jordan, what your take on Moore as to which school he will choose.
You know it is between us and OSU, the real issue IMO does he qualify? I think he wants to win and have a future then OU is the fit.
Q was in the same position last year and here he is playing at OU. Hoping that is the case for Moore.
anyone care to interpret the gesture he’s making w/his left hand?
Pointing at the trophy?
I think he’s saying ” I’m going with this guy”.
Maybe he means he will be the new #54. (Nila K.)
That looks too much like ‘pistols firing’ for me to like it
Looks like a “He Da’Man” gesture to me.
pointing to Stoops as to say ” he’s the man”
I certainly hope so that would be my only concern either way is him qualifying but, otherwise come on Big Man get that OUDNA. I would like to see OU snag Price as well!
Good lord that is one big boy.
yeah he’s certainly a hoss.
I think we’d best refer to him as a grown man 😉
But what if he is still growing?

Whoa 6’6″ and dresses out at 330. That’s pretty scary.
Next to Stoops he looks more like 7’7″ 440.
He’s probably 17. I don’t care if he’s 7 foot 6 and 500 lbs. If he’s 17 he’s still a boy.
Huge. Too bad he’s not lining up for us on NYE against Clemson. Could show their mouthy DB new meaning to the word “obstacle”.
He’s “Tramondous”

And IMO Dallas made the right decision. He would have been banged up this year with Dallas and they would have over paid. Dez was a guy you have to over pay if you’re Dallas, Demarco was not.
Maybe but look at it this way. You need a QB to throw to Dez. If you have a good run game, it takes the heat off of the QB.
Plus Murray is a better blocker/receiver than any other back on Dallas’s roster.
I’m overpaying Murray before I overpay Dez.
My main reason is that you could argue one way or the other who’s more important to the team, and I think the true answer is that they’re equally important. Therefore I would overpay the guy who projects to have more longevity than the one who doesn’t. And let’s be honest there’s a lot of ou fans (myself included) who think Derrick Henry is a product of his environment and that a lot of backs could do the same thing. The idea is that was the case in Dallas this year and that even I could have been their running back with that OL.
I agree with you. Darren McFadden isn’t DeMarco Murray in that offense, but he’s not a bad running back. Any running back behind a very solid O-Line like the Cowboys have will have a good season
Don’t think so. If you watch the Eagles, he was essentially “benched” long before. He talked to Lurie becuase of his lack of carries. How can he be “benched”, when he was already not used much???
Still cashing paychecks I bet.
So, Demarco ended up being active today, but only has one carry.. Essentially benched for talking to owner about his usage?
Sounds like we probably will flip motley
uhhh… more? me no follow
thx
Parnell Motley, db, Washington, D.C. Maryland commit. 2016 athlete.
Wide receiver, my bad.
Could be used as a WR as well he has the stature of a kid like Shep
Watched his film. Played both wr and db plus retuned kicks. Has like 22 offers ; Clemson,Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, Lsu, etc.
Who’s motley?
Found it…

Beautiful pass from Bradford for the long TD!

If AK continues to progress, he could be the inside force that would make this team complete. This team can match up with just about anyone now. The only part of the team that does not have a dominant figure is at center.
Just watched a replay of a Louisiana state championship game. The WR for Parkview Baptist, Jacob Ruffin, scored the game winning catch and run TD with about 3 minutes left on only the 4th pass thrown by his QB the entire game. Ruffin is a 5’8″ WR that runs a 4.33 and has no page at rivals.
Lots of talented kids getting overlooked.
Moore looks like Jamaal Brown 2.0!

Don’t know how long ago it was created, but he is 200-205 and just earned District MVP in the tough 15-5a district. He had 234 rushes for 1815yard and 26 TDs.

The wrestling team is being shutout 17-0 thru 4 matches by the Pokes.

That sucked all the energy out of this place

That looks a little perverted?
Coming from someone with a name like yours, that’s pretty rich 😉
Yea, my Dad had a sense of humor. He always said I was named after his favorite dog. I have a sister named Deloris, we called Diddy, and a brother named Beau. They’d fall down the stairs and it was Bo Bump, Diddy Bump, Bo Bump, Diddy Bump…I guess you had to be there.
Ahhh, explaining to the cameras exactly what happened to OU last year. Let’s hope Bob gets to do this in 2015.
LOL! Thank’s…I’m surprised I was even able to make this, considering how technologically inadequate I am!
Nevermind….
Wrestling team took it up the poop shoot today. It was bad.
*chute. 🙂
Chut up
If they took it up the Shoot, it must have really been bad
Dan Cody sure had them prepared. (thumb down)

Pretty cool, from LT.
I was thinking the same. Looks awesome!
I’m a sucker for any movie with Marines.
It couldn’t possibly be as bad as the first one…could it? 🙂
Let’s hope not, but…
It was painful to watch. Not as painful as Eraserhead or Apocalypse, but close.
Better than tots… 😉

Life finds a way… To give us sequels we didn’t ask for…
And here I am still waiting for a sequel to Silverado…which will never happen.
Your more likely to get a remake of that just like they are doing a big screen remake of the Magnificent Seven
No, Costner refuses to do sequels of his movies, which sucks since when they rode off in Silverado Costner said “we’ll be back.”
/broken promise
Well just re-cast the role if they really wanted to they would been done many times and if they thought it would make a lot of money I would just re-cast it. Are all the other guys till alive and kicking?
Wouldn’t be the same.
I liked the original version of Magnificent Seven, anyway. Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai.
I like a lot of the old westerns and war movies they seem to be based off of old Chinese movies! Which I am dinging I like a lot of those as well. I like 13 Assassins, Dirty Dozen, Magnificent Seven, Silverado, TheCowboys, Seven Samurai, The Guns of Navarone, Force 10 from Navarone.
One thing, Akira Kurosawa was Japanese.
If you liked “Last Man Standing” or “Fistful of Dollars,” then you would love his “Yojimbo.”
https://youtu.be/nU0R8nMepkU
Two things:
1) You left the best western ever off of your list; Once Upon a Time in the West
2) Force 10 From Navarone is on now, MGMHD, DTV Channel 567
Awesome! Jeff Goldblum is my boy!
Dang!
You are really old. 🙂
I confess. That’s true.
Was thinking the same thing. DC you gotta be like 90?
Then you must LOVE Thank God It’s Friday.
The Fly
I’m definitely gonna watch this!

I will too, in a few years when it is free. 🙂
Dang, Eastex glad to see someone besides me likes to wait til it’s on TV, and it will be.
Yessir, all we have to do is wait on it. 🙂
There was some discussion last night about who might be the starting center for the Sooners next year. One name wasn’t mentioned, the young man that was voted the scout team MVP, Riley Nolan.
http://www.soonersports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=208870362&DB_OEM_ID=31000
He’s even smaller than Ty, is he stronger and smarter?
Did you read his bio?
His weight means nothing to me, he is a big boy. His strength is off the charts and the fact that he was scout team MVP tells me he stood out.
I read the bio and he is a good weight lifter and discus thrower, at least that’s what I took from it. No arguing he is an athlete but I haven’t heard him mentioned by any coaches as the guy to watch. I think he will be given an opportunity to compete, but I always wonder why a guy is scout team and not in a position rotation. Being a local kid, hope he has a breakout off season and blows some people away.
Well, he wasn’t going to take the job from Ty. 🙂
Out of all the talented kids not playing this year and are on the scout team and this young man wins the award. That’s more than an “atta boy.”
Add his name to the list of those looking to replace Ty.
Short ” 6′ ” is good to get under the nose ?
280 lbs is plenty?
If he is good at his position those inches and pounds mean little.
I consistently played against DLmen that outweighed me by as much as 50 pounds and always graded out high. Strength and quickness matter more than weight at close range.
Short ” 6′ ” is good to get under the nose ?
280 lbs is plenty?
Wow, boy is powerful!
“He was named All-Big City, All- Conference, All-District. Also competes
in Olympic style weightlifting where he won Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas
state titles … Nolan placed seventh in the nation in the 2010 Junior
Olympic nationals, earning a 2011 Junior Worlds bid”
And he has been working with Smitty for the past two years.
Spring training will be an interesting time at OU.
Indeed.
Well, now how likely is that considering he is a walk on, right? Tongue in cheek…Would be a great story in and of itself, having a walk on center snapping for a walk on QB for a championship caliber team. Very nice.
Ok so every year I like to come up with hypothetical coaching situations for Ou. I’ve come up with three candidates, if Bob Stoops retired today who would take his job tomorrow: Lincoln Riley, Mike Leach, or Brent venables?
Mike Leach and Brent Venables are definitely NOT getting the job. Lincoln is not ready. Gundy hasn’t been a coordinator yet. Castiglione would go outside the OU family for sure.
Les Miles Duh!!!
Wash your mouth out!!!
You know I joke! Nick Saban 🙂
Not Satan either. 😉
DANG! I am running out of over rated SEC coaches
lol
Meyer?!?! Wait Mack Brown with Leach as his OC and Strong as his DC, winner winner chicken dinner!
Ok but for real, I would say Chip Kelly or Jim Harbaugh would be legit targets given that they both coach in the NFL but if Bob left they would aim high and make a bold move I am sure!
I know little of the coaching trees. I am sure Bob would have a say in who relieves him. In Bob I trust!
Josh Heupel.
About as bad as my answer!
I would say there’s a good chance Riley would be in line. If Joe C isn’t sold yet then I would say mike stoops
Mike? Oh, no. No. No no no no no.
No.
Well in this scenario were talking about 2 coaches who I think would be in line a few years from now in Riley and gundy but I don’t know that either are ready right now.
From this list I think it is Riley but if Stoops retired tomorrow I think Cale Gundy might get a shot!
I’ve held the believe that Cale Gundy will replace Bob, for two-three years now.
Of those 3 Id have to go with BV right now..tap the breaks on Riley. He’s been here one year…now three years down the road then ok…today it would be BV Mike and then Riley..Mike has experience..imagine what he could do at Zona with OU talent..Ill jump on the Riley head coach in waiting in another year or two
Bud Wilkinson was an assistant coach for only one year before he was hired as head coach at the age of 31. He was a pretty good coach, and younger then Lincoln Riley. His teams went 12 years and 74 games without losing a single conference game from 1947 to 1958. Dude looked a lot like EasTx, interestingly enough.
Spitting image.
The folks at OU agreed to hire Jim Tatum only if Bud came with him.
Considered me convinced, maybe…
https://stupidcupidblog.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/buster-excited.gif
Gary Patterson. Because defense.
For those who are interested, the entire 2015 season of South Park will run back to back beginning at 7p.m.
Tramnonda moore sitting on the floor at the thunder game. Explain that to me please.
No chair would hold him?
Well, he did say he’s ‘sitting on the floor’.
That is the political correct assumption.
For one are you sure it’s him? And 2 it’s the Utah Jazz it’s probably right at a $100.00 ticket. 3 he could have a part time job with one of those corporate sponsors.
Has is letter jacket on dog!
Sometimes a kid gets lucky and finds one of those floor tickets blowing down the sidewalk. 🙂
Happens all the time.
Next to Durants crew… Must be going to TX.
He used the Jedi mind trick on a season ticket holder
I bet he got laid more times his junior year than I did too.
One time I shared a bathroom with Jerry Rice. Great hands.
That is so wrong.
True story, great guy.
It may be true, and it would be sooo awesome to meet Jerry Rice. However, that just did not sound right. lol

maybe he could afford court side tickets to a thunders game.
This looks good. Loved the first one, and although I was a bit bummed to see some of the original cast not in this one, I’m kind of glad Will Smith won’t be.
Alright cronies, this is a big friggin week. Possible KaBooms ? on the 17th and 18th, and the 17th marks the two week countdown for big game hunting season in Florida.
That’s the only hypothetical situation I have any interest in, the Orange Bowl.
I enjoy hunting big cats and I’m not even a dentist. 🙂
HA!
What got little notice is that dentist was completely cleared of any wrong doing by the Zimbabwa government.
Donation? They wanted to hang and burn him initially.

OSU loses commitment of Dallas-area quarterback Nick Starkel
We interested?
http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/osusportsextra/osu-loses-commitment-of-dallas-area-quarterback-nick-starkel/article_c286d475-ed7c-5bf3-bc59-a3cbf11a296c.html
Why? We already have our QB.
I guess I’m asking if this kid is good enough to consider taking 2 QB’s
never mind… I’m not thinking clearly, long day.
He’s a very good QB. If I was going after another QB, it would be Shea Patterson or Shane Buchele.
Buchele already chose UT over us. I don’t see him changing his mind.
Where did I say we were trying to recruit Shane? I was just saying IF we went after another QB, I would like for it to be one of those two.
I doubt we take two plus we might end up with the ATM transfer
He did very well at the elite 11 and is a very sharp kid. His dad is a great guy and very respectful. With a father like that, the kid has to have high morals.
Oh. OK. My bad. Maybe so. Just don’t see us doing it.
His stats of 56% completion, 29 TD, 14 INT’s doesn’t really sound all that great.
Article says aTm is looking and interest has been shown by Oklahoma (whatever that means). EasTex may know more about him, I know nothing except he is a 56% passer.
could have had a sub-par OL or WR’s

I’ve said it before, osu has sheep in its DNA
That is Baaaaaaaad
OSU Decided Nevermind Already
I am happy that the universe has been corrected and we are where we belong, once again! OUDNA
Even a mangy, blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. Such it is with those in Stillwater. They have to obsess with the rare victory, we’re the only reason they play the game.
I had never heard his name, til now.
Very small private Christian school, has a 33 man roster.
I remember when he committed, I don’t remember being upset about it whatsoever.
They didn’t have a very good season, 6-5. He is listed as a 5.0 guy, not exactly winged feet.
I wonder if that means we’re considering taking another? The writing seems on the wall for a TK transfer. I’m assuming the Starkel kid is a closet OU fan just from his infatuation with the sooners and being a Dallas area kid.
https://twitter.com/nstarkel2/status/640296974638432256
His friends don’t appear to be thrilled about being in that shot.
Actually, the one in the white hat seems to be thinkng “It’s like bringing a two-year-old…”
I highly doubt this kid is being pursued by ou right now. But I also think this means osu is going to make a run at michah Wilson.
His brain had been aggified………brain damage is for life. Abort Abort.
If you would have told me that Cam Newton would have come this far, even at Auburn, I wouldn’t have believed you.
agree, and jameis winston may make it, also
Jameis has a ways to go to catch up. Cam is doing work on and off the field.
Wonder what this could mean… always loved Sooner Dave.

He works for that weird foot segway company. Proud ambassador.
Mixon rides one of these from the bus to the lockerroom at games. Another player or two do also. Can’t remember which ones, though.
Maybe this means all the players will receive one at the playoffs?
Hope not. They are being recalled for starting fires.
Our team’s on fire so………..
Doesn’t look like it.

Nice.
I like his video more than Whaley’s.
Me too
Watched this earlier today, can’t wait for him to get to work.
Man he will be a nice combo with Anderson…Top choice…I like it
You know I’ve been thinking, it would be really cool to have a Brainiac Convention one of these days so everyone could meet and banter face to face. But, the other half of my brain thinks it would be bad if ISIS found out about it, or if some of you are also serial killers. So, let’s just stick with communications on this site.
Bad idea to advertise a meeting, SD shows up with all of the 98 buck an hour chicks, all the shrimp gets eaten and beer bottles start to fly…………………………………….
Sounds like the old Jack of Clubs or the Western Sweetheart Club at 86th St. N. and Peoria.
Or a little place that promoted Legs and Eggs from 2:00 am to 4:00 am. Never been there, my friend told me about it.
Tall ovulating women from 2:00 til 4:00? That’s just weird.
That’s what my friend said.
The Jack was always fun, but I made sure I always sat near a pool cue or the door.. lol.
Pic of chicks please
Someone keeps deleting them. lol.
Damn Jordan…wont let us have any fun
so, you want to see old men in a brawl
We already know where you live…and work. One more thing…dont where that striped shirt you wore at dinner Friday night, it makes you look portly.
I think it’s only a matter of time before we land tramonda Moore. This doesn’t seem at all like the wariboko situation where he was just in Norman all the time because of his friends. Moore seems like he has ou number one
Looking at his twitter page today, he does seem to be OU heavy as far as pictures and comments.
More so than osu who would appear to have had the inside track to landing the kid.
Ray, if you are still up at 11:30 or if you do dvr, you need to check out the season finale of South Park. It was their “gun control” episode and it didn’t go the way the hoplophobes expected. Laughed my big ol’butt off.
I don’t plan to be up that late but I do DVR, what channel? I normally am annoyed by that show but have seen a few episodes that I could relate to, such as the one you describe, and would be willing to watch. 🙂
Comedy Central. The gun show at the end is hysterical…think Westminster with guns. LOL!
I’ll get a timer set and catch it tomorrow. thx.
The premise of the season will be lost on you, but this show is hysterical.
A friend of mine is a fan and usually points me to the episodes I would like, it just wears on me after a while. lol.
It took me a while to get into it, but once I realized that no matter how uncomfortable they made me they always make a great point at the end.
Is the episode titled “PC Principle”? That was the last of the night at 11:30 and the recorder is set.
Yeah, that’s the one.
Is there no way to perma-ban this trollop?
As soon as you stop trolling this site I will send you $1000 a day for leaving. Thanks in advance.
Hell, for a thousand a day I will troll you hard! LOL.
You could quit the day job hu? LOL
Thank you for the opportunity, perhaps you should work on your grammar and spelling before posting such lucrative offers to mankind.
The crystal ball predicts Whaley to Texsa?? What a mess that has been.
Who
Devwah Whaley, at one time was high our board, then committed to Georgia but withdrew
Are you new here? 🙂
A little off this evening, thanks for noticing 🙂
I think Zach forgot the /s.
Dustin still waiting by his Whaley phone?
I think he tossed it out of his van……..down by the river.
But did he abandon the tent?
Haven’t had a chance to read all the comments but if a little weird we haven’t heard more from TFB about the visits. Hopefully get a big Open Post tomorrow on recruiting and where we are at now!
Mike Gundy would walk on his hands and knees to Norman to coach at OU.
https://youtu.be/rzok9Ti6sZQ
That was excellent. Thanks ET
At 2:30 mark on that video, the catch by Shepherd where we all got introduced to the goalline Pile-on cam, I didn’t notice before today, that the guy rushing mayfield on that throw, got leveled by mayfield, (or just bounced off of him).
Thanks for posting; that was great! But whoever slowed down the music track needs to be shot. God, that was painful to listen to! Eminem style and flow is unique, in part, because of the rapid, machine gun delivery. The worst part of listening to that is the fact that I feel tired because in the back of mind I kept trying to pull the track up to the proper tempo. The perpetual wait between each lyric kept in an ongoing state of antici…….
