We have word now from two trusted sources that Nick Saban to Texas is a done deal. One of the sources said the money he will get is substantial (obviously) but we haven’t got any word on what that number might be.
UPDATE: for those asking for exact dates on when this is going to happen. We don’t know. We are telling you what we know which is that we have two very good sources that have told us that Nick Saban is going to Texas and one of the sources said that the money is going to be substantial. We would not have run this unless we trusted the sources.
We received word from one source saying it was going to happen and then we contacted a second source asking for confirmation and the second source confirmed. That’s what we know.

Auburn already lost one this year. Alabama did not have there starting center because of injury and the timing on the line was off. Any great coach will tell you they would rather change the quarterback over the center. Auburn won and we lost.

You are right Alabama will have to replace the quarter back, not only offensively but defensively as well. However, they have a ton of talent at QB, all of which were red shirted this year. It may take a year to get them comfortable; however, as with Manziel and Winston they may have one come through spring that is actually better than McCarron…who knows. Other than that Alabama is actually a young team on paper.

Actually, if you look at the records Auburn has been awarded a total of 16 national championships since 1900. The school only officially recognizes two. Look it up.
Alabama has by NCAA accounts (recognized by NCAA) 13 national titles; Auburn has 2; that’s per the NCAA website, look it up. Alabama only claims two that IMO and the NCAA’s that should not be counted, the most egregious being 1941.

A recent report shows Auburn grads making more money than UA grads. In addition, the entrance exam scores at Auburn are higher than those at UA. The Auburn family members don’t feel they are “entitled” to anything as UA fans do. We earn it, as the Auburn team did last Saturday. If you have ever wondered why the Alabama team is called elephants, just look at their out-of-shape linemen lumber down the field as if they could catch Chris Davis. Comical, even high school players know they have to cover a kick like that. Saban was out coached.
You are ridiculous. I have heard these stats you report by AU fans and it’s not true. Prove it. Bama had 22 graduating seniors this year on the squad. Two of those were gradute degrees. Graduation rate for student athletes were second only to Vanderbilt. Chris Davis will have to prove every game next year he can make the miracle play. Good luck with that.

There is a big difference between being a better recruiter, and a better coach. Mack brown is obviously the better recruiter, but hes 6-9 vs stoops. I think that tells you who the better coach is.

Although I believe that Nick Saban is a better coach then Mack Brown there will be those out there due to Saban’s persona that won’t agree with the mercenary approach especially if Mack wins/shares the conference championship. What happens when Saban does win a national title next year, what kind of pressure will he be under? Lest we all forget he didn’t come right into Alabama and start winning championships, in his first year they lost to Louisiana Monroe and went 6-6. Bama actually has a ton of in-state kids. That state produces a lot of top talent every year and Saban has done a great job of keeping it home. Sure he has a lot of players from Georgia, Florida, and other states, but there are a ton of in-state kids on their roster and a lot are their top players such as Yeldon, McCarron, Christion Jones, Mosley, Howard, Sunseri, etc.
As far as recruiting Texas, he’ll have no problem with that. It’s Texas. He’s Saban. He’s the best coach in the country and Texas is THE school in the state. The difference is he’ll be able to go outside the state lines more than Mack and Co do to get guys. He’s a better recruiter, coach, etc. than Mack. If you though Texas’ recruiting classes were highly-rated before, look out. He’ll get the top in-state guys that he wants and go outside the state after guys he wants.

If anything, Saban can utilize his ties to the Southeast, where he’s had enormous success. But, he’ll still get the top talent from Texas, and will give Sumlin a run for his money. I do think you’ll start seeing different kinds of top level kids signing with Texas though.
And, as much as it will put Bob on his “A” game, hopefully it will lead to the end of this terrible spread offense running through the league that always puts the Techmo Bowl music in my head when a completion is made.

I agree with dahldennsull, the hiring of Saban to Texas would inject some life into our floundering league, and hopefully would restore the Red River Rivalry to the glory years we experienced in the early 2000’s, up to 2009, really. I hate Texas but college football is better, and it’s great for OU when Texas is really good. They are a wonderful villain, and Saban is a perfect fit for them. I feel like our program is heading in the right direction and we NEED Texas to be good to strengthen our national resume and perception. We always schedule at least one strong game out of conference, but with the losses of Nebraska, A&M and Missouri, our conference is perceived as weak, somewhat justifiably, even though I still believe it is a stronger conference than people think it is… Beating OSU, Tech, Baylor and a decent Texas doesn’t impress voters nationwide. Saban coming to Texas would be great for OU, I hope your right!

Both teams made mistakes but there was never fear in our eyes, only disbelief in the fact that your team was not as prepared to win. you were playing not to lose ….. there is a big difference. The shock was on their faces after the game was because we scored off your field goal and did not go into overtime! How many more excuses are you going to make before you can live with this? we were not prepared, Auburn was lucky, Nick had a hangover nick is going to texas, Football is a game of stats ….. believe it or not these two teams were evenly matched as the score and the game indicates it was who had the ball at the end of the game! but what ever it takes to make you sleep at night!

Learn your history, Auburn has been awarded 16 national titles since 1900 the school only recognizes two. Unlike Alabama who claims all the pre-BCS voting stuff as championships.

No team can claim as many as Alabama since the AP polls were started. Alabama and Notre Dame were tied in the category until last years title game was played. Further, there are more expensive coaching staffs in the national; but regardless UA didn’t raise tuition to pay a football coach. The football program is a donor program to the University not the other way around.

You can’t deny the history Alabama football has. We are proud of the accomplishments of our teams throughout history. Every team, no matter how good, has off seasons and off games. I can understand why people from other programs get tired of any one team winning all the time, but it happens, and that team will inevitably lose at some point. It is ridiculous to hate a program because they are good and well coached. And, by the way, if Auburn had won 3 of the last 4 National Championships, would you even be having this conversation? College football is everything in Alabama, whether it’s the Crimson Tide or Auburn. Fans here have no professional anything. College football is our professional sport and it’s lived year round here, even during the off season people follow recruiting and still focus and talk about college football. Would Saban really step down out of his throne of glory to go to Texas, where college football is merely just another sport? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, Alabama is Alabama and we will continue to be successful with or without Nick Saban. Now I’m not saying I don’t like Saban because I do, but I think Kirby Smart can and would get the job done as head coach if Saban were to leave. Roll Tide.

I don’t really see why they wouldn’t, the man is THE celebrity in Alabama. He’s being compared to the legendary Bear Bryant, and he already has a statue outside of the stadium in Tuscaloosa. Would he really leave and screw up his chance at a possible Nick Saban Museum and actually making it to the Bears legendary status and/or surpassing it? Hmmm.
There is no doubt that Saban is at the top of the mountain right now, but the trick is always to move on before that changes. I think you are starting to see the chinks in the SEC/Alabama armor. He has obviously made a career of moving onto big challenges with a good opportunity to succeed. The Dolphins ended up not being his cup of tea, but he is a true college coach. texas is the El Dorado of coaching jobs. It is the flagship program for the most football crazy state in the union. They have more talent year in and year out than anyone else. If they just pay him half of what they are guaranteed to make yearly from the longhorn network that will be twice what anyone else is making right now. And believe me, if he does for texas what he did for Bama he won’t only have a statue. Saban, Texas will be the new name of the capital of Texas. I’m skeptical of all this. But when you think about it, Saban has never been the type to have allegiance to any team. He left LSU a national champion with top recruiting for more money. He left Miami for more money. Texas has more money than any football program. The state of Texas has by far more talented recruits than any other state. And than you also have to compare living in Austin and living in Tuscaloosa.

Hmmm….I agree that you have a fine coach in Malzahn, and I believe he’ll be there for a long time. Auburn gets great recruits and now has a coach that can make them formidable for years to come.
That being said, I’m not sure what insulting people that do not charge for anyone to read or write their thoughts does for you other than make you seem kind of small.
I do not know these men personally, but I am a huge Ryan Broyles fan. In addition, I enjoy reading these former college football players’ information about offensive and defensive schemes that is extremely interesting and gives me a better appreciation about what goes on in the trenches other than just yelling about the head coach doing or not doing this or that.
So anyway, should you happen to read what these guys have repeatedly stated, which has been simply reporting (according to these guys) two very credible sources, I’m not sure what the big deal is. This story could end up being completely off, but I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t be bringing it up if they didn’t feel there was a very strong possibility their sources were accurate.

Nick has done more for the STATE than we realize….. It put AL back in to competing for National Championship and actually helped Auburn win one. He was the catalyst for Auburn getting over the hump, we had to beat AL and both teams got better because of the competition…… Now Auburn could be on its way to another one in 2 years…. He has done a lot for both programs, Where else can a team ranked 45th in August turn around and beat the #1 team and move up to the current #3 position, except in Alabama. I think it’s true and mainly because of Mrs. Saban… Think about it, she bought a huge house here in Austin a couple of months ago, then she goes on record saying that Alabama fans can be so spoiled and un appreciative at times. Couple of clarifications to your post, I think you meant BCS championships and if so you are correct, BCS hasn’t been around for 100 years so kind of irrelevan point, however, if you are referring to Championships in general that way bama counts them, Auburn actually has 9, we actually count them the way most teams do and so we don’t count everyone just because some random poll votes us #1. So an Auburn fan who has been around for 100 year actually has more Championships based on Alabama math than a bama fan has in 4 years. However, if making this statement makes you feel better after last Saturday or makse you feel better thinking saban might be going to Texas, don’t let me rain on your parade. One thing to keep in mind, for as great as saban might be, he is only 6 – 6 lifetime against Auburn, 4 – 3 at bama and 2 – 3 at LSU. However, interesting stat, when coaching against an Auburn team that has 9 or more wins in a season, he is 0 – 6. So doesn’t bother me as an Auburn fan or many Aubrurn fans I know for him to say, as long as we are winning, there is a 12 year history that we will beat him. War Eagle! 😉

Why would Saban not come to Texas? He would make so much more money outside of football by being in TX. Plus, why would you rather live in Alabama than TX?? William, one of the best post from a Bama fan I’ve seen. No one really knows that Saban is going to do but he and his wife. We could all come up with a 100 reasons why he would not leave and 100 reason whey he might. Either way I agree with you, Bama will still be strong, just need to make the right decision on the new coach. As an Auburn fan, part of me loves to see bama lose and would love to see us win every year, but in reality, it’s best for both programs when we are both strong and the eyes of the nation are watching the Iron Bowl. This also means no team wins every year. I would personally love to see us both come in undefeated every year playing to go to the SEC Championship and chance for a BCS Championship. We win our share an you win yours, that’s what would make the Iron Bowl really special year in and year out and nationally relevant. To do that we both need top coaches and programs so I’m happy if Saban stays or you bring in another coach. Just want to make sure we continue to improve and do our part to make all the future Iron Bowls as relevant and special as this year. Much more exciting to beat at top 5 team than a struggling team. Here’s to many more classic Iron Bowls in the future!!!

Let me tell you how sites like this operate. They take a handful of #### and sling it against the wall. They hope it makes a name for them if by chance some of it sticks. If it doesn’t they just claim that circumstances changed and things went another direction. Happens daily. Saban isn’t going anywhere, not sure who Texas is targeting after Mack retires at the end of 2014 but there in lies the truth.

I have friends high in the UT System, and I was told three weeks ago Saban was going to Texas after Mack Brown and DeLoss Dodds both retire on Dec.31st. Sabans’ salary is estimated $10 million/year for 5 years. The UT System would pay 45 % and a group of 5 extremely wealthy boosters/UT Allums would provide the rest of his salary.
