Boom 011-64! #SOONERS
— Steve Henson (@CoachHensonUTSA) August 6, 2015
Oklahoma added to their 2016 basketball recruiting class early Thursday evening the form of 6’10” 220-pound power forward and New Zealand native, Matthew Freeman.
Matt Freeman, a native of New Zealand, has verbally committed to Oklahoma, he tells Scout. 6-8 forward that can stretch the floor.

Like many international prospects, Freeman has a versatile game and is capable of playing both inside the paint and out on the perimeter.

Freeman joins Kameron McGusty and Kristian Doolittle in a 2016 class that could prove to be Lon Kruger’s most highly rated during his time in Norman, and one that could still include one more prospect should Kruger and his staff choose to add another.

C’mon Peyton Pritchard. You would fill out this class perfectly!
I was told that’s unlikely and I think I saw last night that we have another top 100 PG interested
All it takes is a fallout between him and his GF. Without her, he’s Norman bound.
who?
I don’t remember I thought josh m from ss tweeted about it in the last few days but I didn’t see it just now when I looked.
#9 PG, DeJon Jarreau. Someone at OUHoops says he’s visiting for the WV football game on 2 October.
Welcome Matt! Looks to be pretty mobile and has a very nice shot from both inside and out. If Lon can pull in a point guard, this is an outstanding class.
OU needs to check out Jared Ridder for the class of 2017 6″7 and still growing.
Rivals and Scout both have him a four star, 247 has him a 3 star. A big like that, who can shoot inside and outside, could be a five star by signing day.
Is this guy 6’8″?6’9″? Or is he 6’10”? Kindof a big difference on the court.
He’s Kevin Durant
another site lists him at 6’8″
HA! I was thinking the same thing. Thought I’d scroll through and see if anyone else asked the same question.
actually very little difference on the court. his wingspan is the difference maker, which doesn’t look exceptional on tape.
Very nice!! The Kruger staff is rollin…
Lon Kruger is building this team for the long haul. Thanks for being OUr HC Lon
Amen to that. I’ve been excited about Lon Kruger since the day he was hired. I was worried they’d hire that doofus from Marquette (Buzz?) and was immediately grateful Lon was the man Joe C chose. Those who have read my posts before know I can’t sing his praises enough. He is THE classiest coach in all of NCAA basketball. He is old school…works his players hard but teaches them hard and treats them with dignity. He isn’t an embarrassing ass on the sidelines. He doesn’t have that constant scowl so many coaches have. He doesn’t scream at the refs. He doesnt scream at his players or call them names. He recruits high character guys and has the same on his staff. He wins and wins the right way. I cant imagine the man ever violating an ncaa rule even by accident.
I hope as both an OU alumnus/fan and as a Lon Kruger fan, that he wins the national championship. I can’t think of anyone more deserving. I wonder sometimes if OU fans realize how great we have it with Lon Kruger as our coach.
Very nice pick-up. Texas sucks.
Well said!
The Steven Adams effect!
Man is coach Kruger good! Love the size he’s starting to bring in with each class too.
Coach Kruger is comparable to what Eddie Sutton was in Stillwater. I think this guy coaches at OU well into his 70’s….and I love that. Class guy that can build a powerhouse for sure.
Hope he can play defense too. Seems like stretch 4’s are notorious for being bad defenders.
Hit the boards and play TOUGH defense. Everything else will be carrot cake.
