DeMarkus Acy: 2016 safety DeMarkus Acy (Dallas, TX) announced yesterday that he will take an official visit to Oklahoma on October 3rd for the OU vs. WVU game. – (Super K)

Bryce Youngquist: As we noted in yesterday’s Open Post, 2016 LB Bryce Youngquist (Rancho Cucamonga, CA) will visit Oklahoma this Friday. I’ve communicated quite a bit with Youngquist in the past and in one of our previous conversations, he made it pretty clear that Oregon stood out as his favorite. And that’s not small thing because Youngquist has family ties to Arizona State (his mother ran track there).

However, he doesn’t have any real ties to Oregon. So his interest in them seems to be strictly based on how much they impressed during his time in Eugene. We’ll have to see if the Sooners can be equally impressive. For a talent like Youngquist, you definitely want to roll out the red carpet. – (Super K)

Team News | Joe Mixon Back at it: As we first reported earlier this summer (and was later confirmed by both Bob Przybylo of Scout and James Hale of 247 Sports), Joe Mixon suffered a high ankle sprain after a fall running stadium steps. I am now told he is back in action and taking part in 7-on-7 workouts again. In fact, I was told he continues to impress (as has been the case virtually the entire summer based on what I’ve heard) even after this minor setback. – (Super K)

Team News | PJ Mbanasor: We’ve mentioned that Mbanasor is among the young guys we’ve been told that have been really standing out. I spoke with a source yesterday who happened to mention Mbanasor had a pretty nice one-handed pick in yesterday’s 7-on-7 session, so I just wanted to quickly pass that along. – (Super K)

– UPDATE (3:02 pm): Weekend of the WVU game.

  • SoonerGoneEast says:

Glad to hear Mixon is back at it. High ankle sprains can drag on forever sometimes.

  • Randy says:

Any word on how coaches are doing, like Riley, Boulware, Simmons, and Gundy ?

    • Jordan Esco says:

In terms of what? Coaches can’t be w/ the players right now other than some film work, so it would be hard to get a true gauge for what they’re doing or how they’re doing it.

      • Randy says:

Just how they might be seeing this offense work when they are on the field personnel groupings and such. We might hear some of that from players during B12 media days. Got it, I was wondering if they could be there or not.

        • Bob Edwards says:

Given Stoops general paranoia about media coverage, I don’t expect we will hear much other than how individual players have done. And that will only come when someone asks a direct question.

Given previous years behavior we will get a couple of open practices while they work on fundamentals, then Fan Appreciation Day and then everything will be closed once they start working on actual plays and schemes. We won’t know much until the Tennessee game.

          • Randy says:

Agreed.. Just listening to Auburns QB, Johnson here on the radio and he was pretty tell all on other position players he liked (maybe the way the questions were asked, maybe Malzahn has nothing to hide?)

      • Indy_sooner says:

I took it as the vibe and chemistry. I am more interested in the defensive coaching dynamic with the split duties (Linebackers, DBs) and the Cale-Gundy arrangement.

        • Jordan Esco says:

That’s fair. But again, I think it would be hard to really get a feel for that until camp starts and the coaches can actually be around the guys on a regular basis.

      • Wolfdog says:

Who handles the 7 on 7 “practices”

        • Jordan Esco says:

Schmitty and his staff are primarily responsible for the players during the summer.

      • JD says:

Thought they changed the summer rules…if Reynolds was yelling at them during stadiums like above then that proves it

        • Jordan Esco says:

Yeah, I’m not so sure about that actually being correct but I also wasn’t there so….

      • BoomerDave says:

This isn’t totally true. Under the changes in the summer workout rules, schools can now mandate up to 8 hours of coach-supervised workouts, of which only 2 hours can be film work. That leaves 6 hours of supervised weight room work and conditioning. The term “conditioning” is open to much interpretation. Like….Dahu…go run a 40 yd fly route and see if you can catch Baker’s pass! Mixon….take this handoff and take it 80 yds to the house! Etc…don’t think for a second that this isn’t going on.

    • Bob Edwards says:

I hear Riley has got his play calling down in the 4.3 range. Boy has been working out.

  • Third McThirdy says:

    Third.

  • Zack says:

Well since mixon still has his leg, maybe baker still has his arm.

K, I haven’t heard much about Stephens this summer have your sources had much to say about him?

  • SoonerGoneEast says:

What you wrote – Mbanasor had a pretty nice a one-handed pick in yesterday’s 7-on-7 session.

What others will read – Spring game interception problems persist.

  • Soonerfandave84 says:

PJ and Haughton are going to be good players. Both will be seeing plenty of time by midseason

    • Indy_sooner says:

I hope so. PJ was my fav pickup last year (How we held onto him after the disastrous year is beyond me) and I hope he gets some time,

      • Soonerfandave84 says:

“See PJ, come in ready to play and you will be able to get a starting spot immediately”–BJW

  • SoonerinLondon says:

I love to hear about the DBs doing well, but I get nervous when I think about our QB accuracy maybe making the DBs look better. I think we have talent on the back end, so will chalk past performance up to scheme.

You all know that I feel we are a “QB-challenged”, team, so I guess that colors my thinking.

Hated to see that the Baylor and OsU QBs were two that made the final four in the accuracy contest at the Manning camp (Baylor QB winning). TK, along with several other big names, did not make it to the second round.

    • Spray says:

I think trying to navigate these mental gymnastics in the offseason will only drive you batty. If you hear the defense is doing great, you begin to wonder if the offense is struggling, and vice-versa. I prefer to look at it this way: just because an individual makes a great play, that does not mean someone else made a correspondingly terrible play. It’s all happening in context, and we are getting enough good reports on both sides of the ball, that there’s no point (right now) in trying to draw long-term conclusions. Our questions really won’t be finally answered until September, anyway. Save your sanity until then! Ha!

      • SoonerinLondon says:

Yes. I saw that story. Unbelievable.

You know, many times they climb in really hot weather…sweating like crazy…then reach the top of a mountain where the air is cold and have people give them newspapers to put down the front of their jerseys so they can keep their chests warm on the high-speed decent.

        Simply an incredible sport.

        Thanks for the post.

      • BleedCrimson says:

Thanks for the share. The fastest I have gone was just shy of 40mph going downhill. Just plain scary. Can not even imagine 60+.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Let’s remember though, that neither Bay/OSU qbs have won a bigger game than Knight to date.

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

    Who threw the int?

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

I feel like the trajectory of the 2016 recruiting class is entirely dependant on the success of the team this fall.. I don’t think I’ve ever felt that way about a Sooner recruiting class before, at least not in the past 16 years…

    • John Garner says:

Understandable, given the malaise that befell the program after an astonishing and outstanding win over Bama and the hype that came with it. We have disappointed since that glorious moment. It’s really simple, I think: we need to win. We need to factor into the CFP discussion at the end of the season.

    • SoonerfanTU says:

I don’t. I bet a 2-3 loss season still sees OU in the top 8-15 in terms of “stars per player.” And when you consider OU is almost never, even when things are going well, in the top 5, that’s really not all that bad.

      • Jeremy Phillips says:

This one feels different to me.. All the new faces & new positions on the coaching staff makes it feel like the better kids we are recruiting are in a “wait & see” or “show me” kind of mode with OU..

        • D Hunter Sanchez says:

The better kids? SoonerfanTU has correctly pointed out that only 7 teams finished with an average star rating higher than OU last cycle.
No offense, but I think you may be reading too many ESPN Baylor-TCU hype articles.

          • Jeremy Phillips says:

If we go 8-5 & sign another top 12-13 class, then you guys would obviously be right.. I don’t think we get a top 12 class this year without a 10 win season. Just my opinion, this year feels different than years past…

      • D Hunter Sanchez says:

Exactly. The record lines up with what you are saying. Rarely in top 5. Would be nice, but top 10-12 would be fine.

  • Robertson / Robertson 2016 says:

Fun fact: The Mbanasaurus ereptor (em-BAN-oh-SAWR-us-EE-rep-tor) is a very rare dinosaur species. The Mbanasaurus, otherwise known as PJ, belonged to the Tyrannosaur family, and was infamous for snatching flying objects as well as humbling other, less talented dinosaur speedsters. The species lived during the mid to late Stoops period in modern-day central Oklahoma where he ate the lunches of his opposition.

  • EasTex says:

Always appreciate the info, Super K.
I thought players quit running “stands” many years ago because of the numerous injuries that resulted.
Glad to hear P.J. is showing up in the notes. I like that young man. When he came to TFB and exchanged some comments with folks here he appeared to present himself as mature and serious minded, to go along with his athletic ability. I’ll be pulling for him to excel as a Sooner and a citizen.

  • KJ1123 says:

I dont think Youngquist has any ties to OU, but…Coach Ah You is from Rancho Cucamonga…every little bit helps.

  • Sooner 4Ever says:

My dad works for Texas Parks and Wildlife and just relayed the following story.

An Oklahoma bear from Norman and a Texas bear from Austin were observed meeting at the Red River recently. The Oklahoma bear was fat and had a thick, lustrous coat of fur. The Texas bear was emaciated and his fur was thin and had patches missing due to malnutrition.

The OK bear asked how the TX bear got into such a terrible condition. The TX bear answered that food was scarce in the Austin area due to years of drought followed by spring flooding. The OK bear said he had suffered the same fate until recently when he discovered that he could dine quite well on humans.

The TX bear said that he had tried that but that humans were too hard to catch.

The OK bear explained that he had a technique that made it easy. “I hide behind a tree until one comes along, see? Then I jump out and roar as loudly as I can, which scares the crap out of them. Then, while they’re startled, I slam my paw against their back and knocked the wind out of them. After that, they’re completely incapacitated and it’s easy to kill and eat them.”

The TX bear thinks this is a great plan and after agreeing to meet the OK bear back at the river in 3 weeks to update him, heads back to Austin to hunt.

On the appointed day, the 2 bears meet at again at the Red River. The TX bear is more emaciated than ever, appearing near death due to starvation. The OK bear asks what happened and why looks so hungry.

The TX bear replied, “I did it just like you told me… first I roared to scare the crap out of them; then I whacked them to knock the wind out of them. The problem is, in Austin they are almost all longhorn fans and once you knock the crap and hot air out of a longhorn fan, there’s just not much left.”

  • bjwalker82 says:

    When does “fall” practice begin?

  • Ed Cotter says:

Thanks for the update Super K. Can’t wait for the dead period to be over. About three weeks to the start of camp. Dang, this has been a long summer. BOOMER!!

  • SoonerfanTU says:

Have we heard anything about the new kicker this summer? Always a little nervous relying on a true frosh at that position, even one as good as this kid. Just curious if anybody has heard anything on him.

  • Ed Cotter says:

Since Little has decommitted from TAMU, does TFB know if OU is even being considered for a visit? Not sure how much interest he had in OU prior to his commitment, so just wondering. Thanks.

  • Bam says:

TOS reporting Shurrod (sp?) Thompson leaning OU. Decommit from Cal. Yall have any info on this?

    • Mark slavin says:

      Hah great minds think alike

    • KJ1123 says:

Its definitely possible, Simmons was probably his recruiter last year when he was at WAZZU. Plus Mixon lives like 10 mins from where Thompson is from. They all run around in the same circles (workout, 7 on 7, etc)

  • Mark slavin says:

I see 247 has a story on shurod Thompson a4* cb leaning towards Ou have any of the tfb guys talked to him

  • Exiled In Ohio says:

TFB, what do you know about Shurod Thompson, S out of CA. I hadn’t really heard of him, but see that 247 shows him very interested in OU. (I’m afraid the response will be a link to the TFB story on him I missed!)

  • Jordan Esco says:

I’m sensing you guys want to know more about Shurod Thompson……

  • Sooner Ray says:

It seems Mixon has the fast healing ability that AD had. 🙂

    • EasTex says:

I know it isn’t proper to compare, but having looked at both AD’s and Mixon’s high school videos it would seem there is quite a bit they have in common.
We can only hope that when the lights come on, the band is playing and the crowd is roaring that we see even more similarities between these two.

      • 47 Straight OU Know says:

I believe I read the last part of your comment somewhere. Perhaps “Boot Leggers Boy” Bye the King Mr. Switzer.

        • EasTex says:

Well, I did read that book many years, but I’m claiming innocent to plagiarism. 🙂

          • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Definitely a good read. Did not agree with everything, but you know what they say. There’s three sides to every story.

  • Jason Vos says:

I bet I can guess who threw the pick

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

Coach finally put me in, guess we didn’t win state after all.

    • EasTex says:

Don’t get down on Chris Robison just yet, he is only a junior. Those two picks he had the other day in the 7on7 finals could happen to anyone. 🙂

Has anyone seen this article about shurod Thompson safety out of Cali????

  • Jordan Esco says:

OU had kind of fallen out of favor, but at one time this kid was arguably their top WR target. Huge get for Texas (most were expecting him to pick TAMU).

    • Zack says:

Jordan, when the new tfb texsa launches, you won’t be the editor there will you

      • Jordan Esco says:

K and I have talked about it, but really just depends on how much time I have (or don’t as it were). Well, that and how much UT stuff I can stomach 😉

        • SoonerGoneEast says:

Will the Texsa sight be called The Football Braniacs or will they choose something more befitting their character and history, like say, The Douchebag Chronicles?

        • Sooner Ray says:

You could give that gig to CCM, they seem to have plenty of time now days. 🙂

        • Zack says:

Yeah I was gonna say I don’t know how you’d be able to moderate without deleting every comment from their fans

        • Mr. Jones says:

I’m also curious as to why we would want to share something so great as TFB with them?

          • Jordan Esco says:

K has a master plan, expanding the brand is a big part of it 🙂

          • Krys Allen says:

Tell K he should have started with a school a little less revolting, like KU or ISU… I just feel like a little piece of me will die once their site goes live.

          • Jordan Esco says:

At least you don’t have to help run it! But believe me, I completely understand.

          • Stephen says:

Do you expect an increase in Texas trolls once that site launches?

          • JB says:

Yeah, I think I threw up in my mouth just a little bit when I heard there was a TFB bonghorn edition website.

          • KJ1123 says:

The Original TFB posters would be invading that site SO FAST, it’ll be entertaining to say the least.

          • Randy says:

Arkansas needs one bad.. Would be huge too, only sport in the state.

          • Jordan Esco says:

you make an excellent point and that has certainly been discussed

        • Fear The Magic says:

Could you do it and just feed them a lot of misinformation and subtley
try to steer their recruits to OU?

    • Randy says:

If we can somehow get Cleveland all will be ok.

  • Stephen says:

Say what you want about the SEC, but I’m enjoying the edginess between coaches at their media day (even if it is just for show).

Tyrie Cleveland, he is pretty good.

    Texas sucks.

    • Randy says:

Agreed. And we still have Saban.. Should be fun after the Malzahn comment yesterday. Cleveland is a badash.. Yep, pure badash..!

  • Randy says:

    Sad but probably true…

@SiriusXMCollege: .@CoachSumlin on @SEC: There’s more guys drafted out of the #SECWest than the whole #Big12. It’s a tremendously talented football league.

    • Mike Reed says:

Did he mention that OU has had 16 draft picks since A&M joined the SEC and A&M has had only 10 draft picks? #didntthinkso

      • Zack says:

Well and the funny thing is there’s only 3 more teams in the big 12. So it’s great to use that punchline from sumlin and other sec coaches but kansas, ksu, isu, Baylor, tech wvu and tcu are not known for putting a bunch of guys in the NFL and osu doesnt have a much better reputation than those teams.
And he knows OU would make them their whipping boys again if OU joined the sec west.

    • Mike Reed says:

And here are the 2015 SEC draft pick results from each team. Once again…A&M is riding the coat tails of the rest of the league, just as they did in the Big XII. #quitthinkingyouareallthat

      FLORIDA: 8
      ALABAMA: 7
      MISSOURI: 6
      ARKANSAS: 5
      AUBURN: 5
      GEORGIA: 5
      MISSISSIPPI ST.: 5
      SOUTH CAROLINA: 4
      LSU: 4
      KENTUCKY: 2
      TEXAS A&M: 2
      OLE MISS: 1

      • Mike Reed says:

Oddly enough Tennessee and Vanderbilt didn’t have a player selected in the 2015 draft. That will change very soon for Tennessee.

        • Shelby is a Patriot says:

If I remember correctly, it seemed they mentioned Tennessee was a young team when OU played them last year. They probably still are, so that makes since.

      • J J says:

And yet Florida& Missouri were terrible….. Shows how much of a difference coaching makes

    • Stephen says:

According to NFL.com, the Big 12 had 25 players selected in the 2015 draft (26 if you count DGB) and the SEC had 54 players selected (53 if you don’t count DGB). After a quick count (I didn’t double check so this number may not be accurate) the SEC West had 26 players drafted which would tie the Big 12/w DGB. Another startling stat, Sumlin only had 2 players drafted last year so he’s one to talk.

    • Clint Lenard says:

On top of what’s already been mentioned below, there’s such a thing as draft eligible players, injuries, etc. Things happen, so even if last season things were close, who’s to say they’ll be anywhere close the next?

  • SoonerLove says:

I want to take this time to apologize for any “personal attacks” or rude comments on my part yesterday. I honestly did not mean to make anything turn into a personal discussion. My goal was to express my feelings and frustration for where the football program is at right now. My other goal was to get a take on others thoughts, ideas, and feelings towards the program. I think my frustrations, thoughts, emotions, regarding the football program offended others. For that, I do not apologize. However, for any “personal attacks”, I do apologize. I hope, in time, I can still vent some frustrations and make some valid points in my argument for the problem, (ideas) and possible solutions, for future OU football discussions. For example, if I think a coach made a bad decision or we should use a different scheme, I don’t want everyone to gang up on me and attack me for simply stating an opinion. I will respect others opinions on here from now on and I hope I get the same treatment in return. Thanks.

    • Soonerfandave84 says:

Differing opinions are good. I dont think anyone should take anything personal. Though there are some who don’t like any negativity and others who dont believe optimism can exist without a NC the year before.

      • SoonerMGB56 says:

“………and others who dont believe optimism can exist without a NC the year before.”
That is funny. And sadly so true.

        • Soonerfandave84 says:

Yeah, I remember a few guys back in ’01 that were upset and thought Bob was on the hotseat after the OSU game.

      • SoonerLove says:

Good point. I don’t think I should have jumped on anyone for not being as upset as I have been and I also don’t think anyone should freak out if I provide a little constructive criticism or negativety. Believe it or not, most of the time, I’m a very positive, half-glass full type of guy. I just want the Sooners to go uphill and get better than what it’s been the last few years. That’s all.

        • Soonerfandave84 says:

just dont personally attack anyone, I think everyone should see OU isn’t where OU should be, but they aren’t that far off either. Better QB and secondary play and OU is probably 11-1 last year…no whether they can get better and OU go 11-1 this year is completely up in the air

          • SoonerLove says:

I agree that they are not far off from being 11-1, but just playing devils advocate, they weren’t far from being even a little worse last year if Perine and Sterling were hurt the whole season. I agree, better QB and Secondary would be huge for this team, but the D-line gotta be able penetrate the gaps better and to apply some pressure, the QB need more weapons to throw to besides Sterling, and the O-line is a big question mark going into this season. I’m hearing great things about, Mixon, Mark Andrews, Dede Westbrook, and some other youngsters, but I’m like a show me kind of guy too. I don’t want to buy into any hype yet and get disappointed, but I do have high hopes.

          • Soonerfandave84 says:

No doubt, last year was a weird year. That’s me I want to see it, though Im cautiously optimistic

          • Sooner 76 says:

If ALL the starters were hurt all season, the team would go 0-11.

What’s the point? That’s true of any team.

            You’re being extremely pessimistic, IMO.

QB and safety are the biggest question marks. WRs have to be better, but they appear so far to be much better than last year.

          • SoonerLove says:

My point Sooner 76 is that OU was right at average last season. They’re a few good players away from being really good, but a couple injuries away from being really bad. However, if we had depth like Ohio St. did, we could afford for Sterling to go down and still run a solid offense. Same thing if Perine went down…if you recruit right, you have guys that can come in off the 2nd string and maybe not be a star, but give you some solid play. Ohio St. lost 2 QB’s last season and still won the NT with a 3rd string. Now that’s depth. We used to have guys go down all the time and guys like Marcus Walker in 2004 and Brodney Pool in 2002 came in off the 2nd string and kicked butt. All I’m saying is we only had 2 good players on offense last year and that’s inexcusable in my opinion. I hope you’re right. I hope our receivers are better than last years. I believe they will be, but gotta see it first.

          • J J says:

Some is depth, a lot is coaching & preparation IMO for the reserves… OU hasn’t been exactly stellar. Walker wasn’t an injury starter it was because Eric Bassey couldn’t cover jack in college station. I am not “arguing” with you, I actually agree with the premise (an injury away from disaster). I just think lack of preparing & meaningful playing time is historical with this staff

          • SoonerLove says:

Absolutely. And that’s right….I totally forgot that it wasn’t due to injury that Marcus Walker came in and that it was because Eric Bassey couldn’t cover jack. It definitely has been bad preparation in the past. That’s the reason we have a blow out loss every year. It’s just like the USC game in 2004 NT….I don’t think USC was that much better. We were a great team that year. We just didn’t prepare right. I almost guarantee both teams were pretty evenly matched and OU may have even been a little better, but we didn’t prepare right and lost 55-19.

          • boomersooner says:

Yep. A couple easy plays from being 11-1. The flip side of this argument for some reason became season ending devastating injuries? Kinda polar and then some opposites

          • wgood54 says:

I have been lurking on this website for a while now but I think it is time to comment. I read most if not all of yesterday’s conversation, I didn’t feel like it was that big a deal. We ALL want OU to do great. Last year sucked and this year is different. The head ball coach made some changes and now we need to see how they pan out. Honestly I think he made some very good choices and the Sooner’s are moving in the right direction. But heck I could be wrong and it all goes to crude (I hope not). The Sooner’s have declined, no doubt about it. Changes were made, so let’s see how it all turns out before we start hanging people.

          • SoonerLove says:

Well said wgood54. I agree about lets see what these changes bring. I think the only reason I was commenting in the first place is because we already tried to make changes after the 2011 season and it didn’t fix the decline the first time, but I agree lets hope and see if this time works.

    • rphokc says:

eh, stick around……..now, good luck on your job, enjoy the wheels, and where are the pics of your woman?? lol

    • JB says:

If you don’t blindly pump sunshine, you’re going to have some people who will gang up on you and talk down to you or call you “hater”, ” troll,” or something else. So, don’t take it personally, and express your honest opinion freely. As long as you don’t make it personal, you’re golden. I didn’t read any posts yesterday, but I appreciate honesty.

      • Fear The Magic says:

Maybe we should have 2 completely separate TFB sites. The Sunshine site and a Debbie Downer site. No crossing over allowed. Everyone should just stick to their own site. Then everyone would get along.
I probably should be working at the UN.

      • SoonerLove says:

Sounds good JB. I agree. I will continue to state my feelings and opinions without sugar coating. I don’t mind getting some heat back, but I think it did get a little out of control on my part and some of theirs yesterday. That’s when it’s not a fun debate anymore. That’s why I wanted to clear the air today, in hopes that we can move forward from yesterday’s harshness we all had towards one another and have healthy debates about stuff like that from here on.

    • Shelby is a Patriot says:

      Eh, it happens.

    • 47 Straight OU Know says:

What happened I guess I must have missed it like always. Stinking work getting in the way again. I only have one problem with OU right now and that is “MIKE STOOPS”, Pull your head out or get out of town. I feel better now.

      • SoonerLove says:

It just became a heated debate about the status of the football program right now and me being way frustrated and others being pretty okay with things right now. Both sides got too emotional, so that’s why I wanted to send out an apology on my behalf for my part in hopes of being able to still state my feelings, but have healthy debates about it from now on without it getting too hateful.

        • 47 Straight OU Know says:

All I know is that no team in the history of the game has ever won every single game. That being said Win or Lose it’s always a great day to be a SOONER!!! JMPO. Oh yeah we do have the most in a row.

          • paganpink says:

That’s right. And there is nothing wrong with winning every game for years in a row if you can’t win them all. That should be our baseline since we have already accomplished it. Our “stretch” goal, then, is to win all games from here on of course.

          • 47 Straight OU Know says:

Now let’s not get greedy, let’s start with 48 in a row and we will go from there. What do you think?

          • paganpink says:

Of course. There is no reason to lower our standards because we had one bad year! It’s bounce back time!

        • EasTex says:

Good grief., this is your take?
“me being way frustrated and others being pretty okay with things right now.”
          Welcome to the scroll-over list.

          • boomersooner says:

I thought I was the only one. He took another shot this morning and deleted it. Forgive me for not thinking he meant his apology. Also, respect is earned not just given.
I apologize to you and some of the others I respect here for y’all having to read that last night, even though I got a chuckle out of it. Don’t like it when someone I respect is attacked especially by someone defending a troll like cbusta

          • EasTex says:

I tried giving him some slackage. Just another whiny attention whore.
No apology needed on this one, but you might reconsider on Kokevo he is one of the good guys.

          • J J says:

            Pi totally trust your judgement!

          • EasTex says:

            Hey, gal.
Hope you and your boys are all happy and healthy.

          • J J says:

Back at ya! They actually will be in your neck of the woods next week…

          • EasTex says:

I hope their being here is a good thing. 🙂
You know, it is so weird. We haven’t had any rain in a month and the creeks are still all bloated. There just isn’t any place for the water to go down stream. Not even evaporation is putting a dent in all swollen creeks and it’s mid July.
            Weird and unusual.

          • J J says:

            Golf camp with the Inlaws

Yes, it’s been unusual here too. Epic 10 yr drought, lakes 25-30 FEET below & now then they are still flowing over spillway…

          • EasTex says:

            Still?
Dang, like the old folks always said “a drought ends with a flood” and they didn’t lie.
Hope the guys have a great time with the grands. From my perspective grandbabies are the BEST.

          • boomersooner says:

Ok. Thanks. Good to know. I’ve never had a run in til last night except to ask why he was down on this or that. Seemed it was empty glasser happy hour last night. Try to take it easy on him from now on

          • EasTex says:

He was joking with you and you probably didn’t see the funny image unless you refreshed.

          • boomersooner says:

            I didn’t. I was on my phone

          • SamSooner says:

No apologies needed, my friend. You are one of the posters I respect.

          • boomersooner says:

Thank you sir. Same to you. Hope you’re well

      • rphokc says:

open post last nite, you’ll recognize a couple of names

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

I can’t imagine anyone dislikes you. I like you. We all want the same thing, for OU to destroy every opponent by eleventy. People will disagree, and when a comment comes across that is fairly negative about a team they like/love, then some people are going to reply.

I am being very forthright by saying that I will confront comments (not necessarily the person) if they aren’t base on facts/data, can’t take any other perspective than their own/itself, and/or are based on someone absolutely “knowing” what’s happening or having access to the truth that no one else has. This can take the form of a “sunshiner” or a “downer.”

Also, please note that some of what I do is poke an angry dog because it’s fun. There. You know my strategy and that I’m a horrible person.

Like CBs, everyone on a message board should have a short memory for disagreements.

      • rphokc says:

creative, should be a motto for all message boards……

“Like CBs, everyone on a message board should have a short memory for disagreements”

      • SoonerLove says:

I have nothing against anyone on here either. I will say many positive things and some negative things about our Sooners. I love OU and have been going to the games since I was 5 years old, but I have to be real when I say things like I said yesterday about OU not being on the level they need to be on. I agree that it is unrealistic to expect them to win by 50 every game, but the last few years, it’s been easy for me to see the drop off in the polls, overall records, and overall play on the field. In my opinion, anyone that can’t see that is either in denial or too big of a homer to admit it. I think it’s okay to be a homer, but at some point we have to admit when OU isn’t in the right place they need to be in and it’s okay for people like me to question the direction of the program. That’s all I was coming from yesterday. Not trying to hurt anyone’s feelings or be a bad fan or bring anyone’s optism down. Was just trying to express my opinion on what I think is realistic about the state of the current football program.

        • paganpink says:

Unrealistic to win by 50 every game? You’re correct- I expect them to “hang that half a hundred” by halftime! Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was…

  • JB says:

I’m tired of reading stories about muleshoe, Texas. I’m ready for some football. This is the worst time of the year; the weather sucks and the sports are subpar. Time for some 11 on 11 combat.

    • Jordan Esco says:

It’s really just one story though, right? It’s just been RT’d like a freaking zillion times as though on the zillion and one time you’re RT’ing it that one person who hasn’t seen it yet will miraculously then come across it.

      • Zack says:

It’s been retweeted as if it should win an award or something. I’m expecting a movie based on his life starring jake gyllenhall or Ryan gossling.

    • KJ1123 says:

A little over 2 weeks until camp………..im not gonna make it…..need more Daily News trailers and youtube vids (as I google where the hell is Muleshoe, Texas) no offense to any Muleshoeans on the board.

  • JB says:

I can’t remember if I’ve posted this before or if TFB posted it, but in case I didn’t, here it is: http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/25205413/broncos-enforce-fart-tax-in-meetings-von-miller-is-fined-most-frequently

I’ve been a Denver fan since I was a boy, so this made me laugh. Sadly, if I played football for the Broncos, I’d lose at least half my contract to the “tax.” I could give Von Miller a run for his money anyway.

  • rainydaze114 says:

Acy’s twitter nickname is “DeuceMovement”… does he not realize what that sounds like?

  • Jordan Esco says:

    update added

Haven’t seen any of the film on Shurod Thompson but a 4.7 40?? Is that a typo? Anyways, here’s film.

    http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2700914/shurod-thompson

    • KJ1123 says:

On HUDL I tend to only put stock in SPARQ verified stats, but if those stats he has are even 90% accurate that’s pretty good.

      • Stephen says:

Thanks for info, I didn’t know if Hudl puts in those stats or the player does. However it does seem odd that a lot of our offers tend to be in the 4.4 to 4.5 range but speed doesn’t obviously make you a great or even good DB.

  • William Ryan says:

Really need to nail this visit one of OUr best lb prospects and a much needed boom would be nice

  • Jordan Esco says:

Bama coming hard after the top OK Preps kids. OU has their work cut out for them if they want to protect their home turf.
    https://twitter.com/_tmoe55/status/621094110699589632

    • Zack says:

This is why OU should stop slow playing okpreps.

      • kokevo says:

The one positive to this is his ratings just went from zero to 4 possibly 5 star.

    • D Hunter Sanchez says:

      Why is this happening?

    • BleedCrimson says:

Just a matter of time. We knew there was talent in this state, now others are beginning to recognize. We need to jump fast and jump with purpose.

    • L'Carpetron Dookmarriot says:

We should get those players who really are quality prospects. People got bent out of shape about David Oku (before he moved), Demarco Cobbs, and Josh Turner. Since then many have forgotten all about them. Perhaps only Josh was a bad deal, considering the 2011 group was shy on eventual contributors. However, we got Aaron Colvin the year prior and Zach Sanchez the year after.

      • kokevo says:

We missed on the best player in the state last year to ucla I know that’s just one guy but I don’t want it to turn into a trend.

      • lefty67 says:

Turner was a Millwood kid. I know you almost have to go through the motions & take a shot on getting a highly rated player like that in your own backyard, but IMO, it’s pretty much a waste of time to mess with them. OU hasn’t landed a Millwood (other than a couple of walkons) kid since Joey Mickey back in ’89, a stat that screams to me that they’ve got a “anywhere but OU” poison pill of some type there.

  • BleedCrimson says:

    G-Day minus 53
    Jerry Tubbs All-American

    • EasTex says:

Ol’Jerry. Good choice of a great Sooner.
I was just about to send out a “paging BC” call when I refreshed and there you were.

      EDIT= for 52 here are three names… Rick Uhles /Mark Lucky/Chris Bush.

      • BleedCrimson says:

lol, Thanks EasTex. I posted this morning on the News Blog as soon as it opened, but figured some may not have read those and would like the add here.

      • BleedCrimson says:

Thanks bruh, I havent been able to find a pic yet for Ric Uhles or Mark Lucky. Still searching.

  • BleedCrimson says:

    G-Day minus 53
    Jody Farthing

  • BleedCrimson says:

    And another 53
    Jeep Dewberry

  • Randy says:

How is Will Johnson doing in 7on7’s also is he playing nickel, corner or safety ?

  • D Hunter Sanchez says:

I appreciate TFB, but kind of tired about reading about the recruits we didn’t get on TFB.

    • Bob Edwards says:

Since most programs only get about one out of six or seven offers, most of what you are going to see if you watch recruiting is the recruits your team didn’t get.

  • SoonerLove says:

I just saw highlights of Tennessee’s QB. He looks legit. I hope we can stop him.

    • SoonerinLondon says:

Either team could get spanked in that one. I’ll be there…hoping it’s them.
