– Parker Boudreaux: Those of you on Twitter may have seen Boudreaux (6’5″ 291 – Orlando, FL), the 2016 highly-coveted OT prospect, put out his Top 10 last night.

boudreaux

And if you are a regular TFB reader, the Sooners being among said Top 10 should have come as very little surprise. We say that because about two weeks ago, in another TFB Open Post, Brandon spoke with Boudreaux who said OU was in his Top 5. Of course things can change very quickly when it comes to recruiting, but that quite and Boudreaux’s tweet from last night only further reinforce the fact Bill Bedenbaugh is in good standing with the Orlando area big man.

– Sione Heimuli-Lund: Earlier today, Heimuli-Lind (6’0″ 230 – Salt Lake City, UT) tweeted out he was about to board a plane headed to Oklahoma.

The talented 2017 linebacker will visit OU on Friday and is also planning to hit Oklahoma State as well during this stop in the Midwest. Brandon has already been in contact, so we expect to have more in the way of some details regarding the trip for tomorrow’s OP.

For now, however, Heimuli-Lund does not currently hold an offer from the Sooners but we would not be at all surprised if that changes during this visit. Ok. State has already offered, as have BYU, Oregon State, Stanford, Utah & Washington.

Really surprised by Georgia Southern and Iowa in Boudreaux’s top ten. How many 4*+ Florida kids end up at Iowa?

    • Jordan Esco says:

Offensive linemen? I’d guess a decent amount. If that program is known for anything at this point, I’d have to assume it’s for churning out NFL OL

      • KJ1123 says:

Hes got a nice looking list. 70 offers is a crazy amount. He’s seems to be a pretty versatile lineman.

    • Cush Creekmont says:

OU is only Big12-2 – I bet OUr sending many linemen to the NFL is part of OUr allure.

      • John Garner says:

The Bedenbaugh Effect too I would think. The man has a great rep for coaching up kids.

Intermittent issues with the site over the past few weeks. Just doesn’t want to load, hangs on loading, or returns a can’t find the server result. Usually loads immediately when I retry, but sometimes it takes several attempts.

  • Jordan Esco says:

Not much of a shock here, just providing as an FYI if anyone cared

    • KJ1123 says:

Zero shock, he’s been close with Sarks staff for awhile now.

      • Clint Lenard says:

Correct response: Zero shock, he goes to Mater Dei.

Sark had nothing to do with it.

        • John Garner says:

Exactly. Most Mater Dei kids stay close to home.

          • Clint Lenard says:

Most travel 2-4 cities away to attend MD anyway. I’m guessing their HS drive wears them out over time. Plus, being rich and going to school in the hood is the cool thing to do these days (ie, Mater Dei and SoCal).

          • soonermusic says:

And Mater Dei has facilities and fund raisers that would be the envy of many colleges.

          • Clint Lenard says:

And bag men who help poor families make the move. Had a friend who “got lucky” with that…

      • AmaGoh7 says:

Switzer said something to the effect that the head coach at U$C passes more D-1 prospects on his short drive to campus to work than is in the entire state of OK. I’m more surprised when U$C, with their tradition and recruiting ground, doesn’t recruit well than when they should be able to get these type recruits.

First off thank you TFB…My pay subs have expired and I do not need to re-up them to get all the latest (and greatest) Sooner news!. Saves me 20 bucks a month(2 sites)

  • KJ1123 says:

Is there any info on what round the OU guys may get drafted in? There are zero TEs projected in the first round. I think Bell in the 2nd and 2 OLs in the 3rd.

    • Chris White says:

no one truly ever knows, Mel Kiper is never right unless it’s an obvious 1st pick. I have seen Jordan Phillips “Projected” in the first round as well as Daryl Williams. I am about 90% sure we will have guys drafted this year, fairly early; at least 4 (if you count DGB as our player)

      • KJ1123 says:

That’s true, I wasn’t counting DGB in the first. I haven’t heard much on Geneo either. I think 4 will most likely get drafted, the others will be FA.

        • Cam says:

Jordan Phillips (and DGB if you count him) are the two OU prospects that could go in the first. There is a chance, though, that neither could go then due to injury and work eith problems for Phillips and character problems for DGB.

After those two the next off the board will be Daryl Williams. I’ve seen him projected as high as the second, but this class has been criticzed as very weak for OT’s, so it’ll probably be the third.

I see several guys going in the later rounds (5-7), including Bell, Tyrus Thompson, and Grissom. Ndule and Wilson will probably go undrafted. But those are just my wild guesses.

    • Fear The Magic says:

I very much doubt that Blake gets drafted in the 2nd round. I do think that he’ll be one of the top 5 – 7 TEs taken though. My guess would be more like a 5th round pick

  • Wild Will says:

No disrespect intended, but Heimuli-Lund looks like he’s in his 40’s in that pic.

  • Jeremy Phillips says:

Maybe it was in yesterday’s OP, but we also made the top 10 for RB Trayveon Williams..

    • Jordan Esco says:

Yeah, not sure why some people were spreading that around as news. It’s from a tweet back about a month ago, or at least the one I saw from these same ppl was.

      • Jeremy Phillips says:

My bad, i just assumed & i know what that does…

        • Jordan Esco says:

haha, no worries. I’d put it more on those people, many of whom get paid to cover recruiting for a living, for apparently failing to realize the tweet was a month old 🙂

  • thebigdroot says:

I can’t see the video above so I will have to ask, how does the LBer’s speed and quickness look? Already at 230lbs at 6′, looks like good weight as well.

    • Cush Creekmont says:

Yes, I’d like to see something on speed too. 6ft flat is a little short to me. 230 is excellent at his age. Perhaps after his visit TFB can give us more on him. Thanks.

    • KJ1123 says:

He doesn’t jump off the page as far as speed is concerned. But he may be faster than he appears on film. The pic shows an 81 Sparq rating and for LBs I think speed is a big point getter in that system. Solid player.

  • Mike Eldridge says:

I see that Tyreek Hill is tweeting he is going to Akron to play football. Is this true?

    • Cush Creekmont says:

      And where will he play?

With San Diego making odd noises about trading Rivers and AD not happy, Arizona could get the QB and RB they need to be real serious contenders.

  • Thegunnfather says:

We should have a couple tfb golf scrambles during offseason.

  • Boom says:

OP comes out, 5 1/2 hours later, 49 comments. Off season is slooooooooooooooow.

  • KJ1123 says:

Think Heimuli works out much? He may be up to 250 his senior year.

  • Jake says:

Georgia Southern seems out of place on that top ten of Boudreax’s.
They seem to be on a real upswing though. If you like to run block, that’s a place that will let you do it. My nephew redshirted there last year. They’ve done a tremendous job of getting him stronger. He looks like the damn Hulk!!

  • hushnpa says:

    Sione Heimuli-Lund,
Hmm where to put him ..
    Flex / HB / fb / TE .. LB/ DE / NB / S .. Monster ?

  • Lane Gilstrap says:

Any word on wher the other two practices are? Or how they went?

  • Randy says:

Just for fun, using my idea of skill sets.. Only RS Freshmen and incoming Freshmen.
    OLB – Campbell
    DE – Orso
    DT – Overton
    DE – Gallimore
    OLB – DeBerry
    ILB – Tay Evans
    ILB – McGinnis
    CB – Mbanasor
    CB – Stephens
    SS – McKinney
    FS – Haughton
    NB – M. Green

    • JD says:

I’d trade McGinnis for Bolton….McGinnis will be better at OLB unless it’s on running downs

      • Randy says:

I actually had that but really wanted Campbell at one of the OLB spots. And McGinnis seems a little longer than Bolton I wanted that at ILB.

        • JD says:

They’re both the same height but maybe he could work…he has speed but not sure about the coverage ability..he said Kish was gonna play him inside and move him outside on passing downs…so take that for what it’s worth

          • Randy says:

I could see that, makes sense.

          • Randy says:

Seems like he would be good in coverage but I know it’s yet to be seen. Love his feet, could be little over aggressive in coverage but could learn.

          • JD says:

I’d still have Bolton ahead of him right now…Bolton had some pretty impressive hs film himself

          • Randy says:

He did but mostly outside.. That’s why I think McGinnis would be good there as well. If both can plus Tay Evans it will be a great problem to have.

      • hOUligan says:

Remains to be seen. Haven’t seen either in a D1 game but from all I’ve read and K has echoed it as well, McGinnis is not as good in coverage but good at the poa. Hoping OU can get his old running mate, Pernell Jefferson, who looks to be better in space.

        • JD says:

Yea…Kish told him he would play inside on running downs and outside on passing downs so i fig he’d mainly be an outside guy in our league

          • Randy says:

I thought the same watching Bolton until the spring game if McGinnis wants to I have no doubts he can play inside.

    • Exiled In Ohio says:

That’s kinda encouraging. If those guys pan out like hoped, sounds like the defense could be solid in coming years.

    • Boom says:

Campbell would be a 275lb OLB. Not sure he would fit the mold.

    • hOUligan says:

If Mike can run this 3-4-5 as is, I think he could do well.

  • hOUligan says:

Things should begin to pick up on the recruiting front in the next few weeks. Eval period from yesterday, April 15 – May 31. OU typically has 2-4 commits this time of year and picks up 4-5 in May-June. All eyes on the new guys, esp Reynolds.

  • Sooner Ray says:

espn 2, OU softball vs. Baylor right now.
