The Sooners with a huge commitment from star DE/OLB Mark Jackson (Cibolo, TX). Jackson is a talented pass rusher who fills a vacancy left by the departure of both Striker and Bond.
News got out a bit early but Jackson has now tweeted out his commitment.

If we land Kelly have to eat crow on Kish for a long time. Though I think Kish already has me eating crow with Youngquist (despite situation) and Terry.
If kelly comes it’s all Chip not to say Kish didn’t help but I’m far from thinking he is the answer, he is by far the worst recruiter on this staff, first year coach Diron is start to have as much progress as kish, but this is by far his best year but he needs to show he can land more of his top guys on a consistent basis
There aren’t many fan bases I dislike more than A&M’s. Awful group, convinced they’re the greatest team of all time despite never really doing anything historically. And horrible on Twitter, they proved it with their comments on the Jackson situation this afternoon. All that to say, glad we got him and they didn’t.

Whatever is happening with the kid, I feel sorry for him. But, his inability to sign with us Wed. really has no bearing on my outlook of this class. The kid wants to be a Sooner, that’s enough for me. Plus, hopefully he can overcome whatever it is that is going on; he still might be able to come at some point.

Actuslly, It does. NSD is the *earliest* a player can sign not the last. They still have several months, i beleive until Fall camp *if* they have a comittable offer. Of course schools don’t have to hold a spot for players beyond NSD but in the case of Bryce and Parker, there is strong indication they will hold em’

They do. It just won’t show “signed NLI” on the top. BTW I am referencing Rivals. I am sure the other services might do things differently

That’s true, I think coverage is a big deciding factor, I dont think Ricky is as good of a coverage guy as he is an edge guy. But you never know he could step up big this year.
Kinda thought thats what we sold him on when he committed, playing strikers role.
Improving coverage will make him a lot more money in the pros though.

I always thought Kelley covered like a safety in a LB body. Thought he’d kick inside, but if we can land multiple guys that can do multiple things then that is advantage defense against up tempo.
Ive heard that as well about him playing inside, but hes so versatile he can probably play anywhere. Im sure mike and kish can figure out what to do with him.

Didnt bond end up in coverage more? Thought strikers role was more pure pass rush, which i figured is more deberry’s bread and butter.

Bryce has a scholarship if he’s able to take the offer. He’s not wavering it’s a personal issue that is interfering with either his physical ability to play or his mental ability. I’m not going to speculate which I think it is but I’m hoping he has a long and successful life regardless of whether football is involved. There’s other avenues in life and an education from ou can and will go a long way.

Man I know that recruiting evals are completely opinion but it is crazy to me that Rivals can have us 15th and ESPN have us 25. That just seems like a huge gap. I could understand 2-4 spot difference but wow.
