The Path to Norman

Isaiah Coe started his career in the JUCO ranks, attending Iowa Western CC – once a teammate of former OU lineman Perrion Winfrey. The Sooners began their pursuit in earnest in the spring of 2020, when Coe was already one of the top-ranked JUCO prospects in the country. After a relatively short courting, the Sooners earned a commitment in the summer of 2020.

Career so Far

Coe came in and played immediately in 2021. He appeared in 12 games as a part of a defensive front that entered the season with high expectations but never quite seemed to reach the lofty heights suggested by their talent. Nevertheless, Coe was a promising part of that unit.

In 2022, Coe again played in 12 games, starting in six of them. He flashed at times, but still seemed capable of an even greater impact.

Highlights

This Season

Coe likely could have been drafted this spring, but instead opted to return for another year in Norman. He has become a team leader and a seasoned presence on a defensive line that has undergone a lot of turnover this offseason.

This season, Coe has a good chance to start at nose tackle, although Jordan Kelley will also be a big factor. Coe’s size gives him the option to become almost immovable at times; this offseason is a chance for him to further hone his physical abilities and become an anchor on the line. A guy many have pegged for a breakout season, look for a big year from Isaiah Coe.
