The Path to Norman
A Nashville, Tennessee product, Jones stopped at Liberty University on his way to Oklahoma. After playing quarterback in high school, Jones took over a receiver role in college. Following a short time there, Jones joined the Oklahoma program after his 2017 season with Liberty.
Career So Far
Jones took a redshirt season in 2018 and did not play in 2019. In 2020, Jones took over holder responsibilities. He was rewarded by winning the Mortell Holder of the Year Award, OU’s second win in four seasons.
Congratulations to the 2020 Holder of the Year:
🏆Spence Jones of @OU_Football 🏆
“The confidence he portrays on 4th down or for an extra-point is unparalleled. He had the top laces-out percentage in college football.”

There was also some… offseason drama this spring, but Jones will be back for 2021.
Year: Redshirt Senior
Jones will continue his role as the holder for the Sooners in 2021. With a good season, he could become the first player to win the HOTY award more than once.
