100 Days to Football Time in Oklahoma: #8 Trejan Bridges

The Path to Norman

Trejan Bridges, a highly-ranked recruit out of Texas, took a visit to Norman in June, 2017, picking up an offer the same day. After that, it seemed like a matter of time before he would become a Sooner. Sure enough, he committed that fall, becoming one of the very early members of the 2019 OU class.

Despite offers from plenty of other big programs, including Alabama and Ohio State, Bridges was all OU. Coach Margin Hooks, a receiver trainer in Texas who has trained the likes of CeeDee Lamb, Charleston Rambo, and Hollywood Brown, called Bridges’ hands “the best hands I have ever seen in my life… on a scale of one to ten, he’s a twelve.”

TFB got to know Trejan’s family by speaking with his father, which you can find here to learn more about them.

Career so Far

Bridges played in the first thirteen games of his freshman season. Despite limited targets, similar to other freshmen studs Jadon Haselwood, Theo Wease, and Austin Stogner, Bridges was exciting in the snaps he received and certainly made Sooner fans hungry for more. Trejan was a standout on kickoff coverage and even saw snaps on defense at nickel. Unfortunately, a suspension forced him to sit out of the CFB Semifinal game.

Highlights

2020 Season

With three of last year’s four leading receivers (by yards) no longer in Norman, there is room for guys to step up at receiver in 2020. In a normal year, it would be very reasonable to expect Bridges to be a starter. Currently, however, Bridges is still expected to be suspended for the first five games. This will leave room for guys like Theo Howard and Drake Stoops to step into that void in the slot. Whenever Trejan is available, however, he’s going to jump right back into those snaps. Look for a big year from stud receiver Trejan Bridges.
