100 Days to Football Time in Oklahoma: #8 Perrion Winfrey

The Path to Norman

Perrion Winfrey, out of Illinois, took the JUCO route to OU, attending Iowa Western C.C. One of the highest rated JUCO recruits in the entire country, his offer sheet included programs like Alabama, Texas, Florida State, and many other top schools. He received an OU offer in the spring of 2019, then attended the Elite Camp in the summer. Winfrey gave rave reviews of his time there, and proved it by committing to the Sooners.

Highlights

This Season

Winfrey decided to come back for one more season in Norman, bolstering what could be OU’s best defensive line in years. As good as he was in 2020, Perrion often couldn’t quite finish a play that he had made; look for him to focus on finishing in 2021. Few players have been more highly spoken of this offseason, by players, coaches, and media, than the big lineman. Ahead of this season, he’s drawing national attention.

Winfrey was also named to the preseason All-Big 12 team. Many predictions have him as an early round 2022 NFL Draft prospect. Needless to say, expectations are high in 2021; Winfrey looks ready to meet them all.
