100 Days to Football Time in Oklahoma: #8 Perrion Winfrey

The Path to Norman

Perrion Winfrey, out of Illinois, took the JUCO route to OU, attending Iowa Western C.C. One of the highest rated JUCO recruits in the entire country, his offer sheet included programs like Alabama, Texas, Florida State, and many other top schools. He received an OU offer in the spring of 2019, then attended the Elite Camp in the summer. Winfrey gave rave reviews of his time there, and proved it by committing to the Sooners.

Highlights

2020 Season

Winfrey is the biggest listed defensive lineman on OU’s roster this year; that’s not a bad starting point. He arrived in Norman this spring, with the staff hoping to have him replace Neville Gallimore. The battle at Nose Tackle has been primary between Jordan Kelley, Joshua Ellison, and Winfrey. Perrion is currently projected to win that starting job; JUCO guys are brought in to play. Super K has even mentioned that Winfrey’s strength is off the charts for a defensive lineman. Expect Perrion Winfrey to be a breakout name on the defensive line in 2020.
