Career so Far

Elzinga took a redshirt season his first year on campus and did not play.

After that, it was off to the races. He went on to play in every game for Central Michigan over the next three seasons. Although he contributed a few kick offs, Elzinga primarily saw time at punter. He earned All-MAC first team honors in 2020 and 2021, then All-MAC third team honors in 2022.

After his third year as punter for Central Michigan, Elzina transferred to Oklahoma as a preferred walk-on with two years of eligibility remaining.

This Season

After two years with fan favorite Michael Turk, the Sooners are in need of a new starting punter. Josh Plaster has been with the Sooners for two seasons, but has not yet seen snaps. OU also added Ashton Logan from the transfer portal this spring, who played for Colorado in 2022. Of the three, Elzinga has the most game experience. He’ll have to fight for it, but Elzina has a great chance to be the starting punter in 2023.
