100 Days to Football Time in Oklahoma: #45 Joseph Weté

The Path to Norman

Joseph Weté was a highly-rated recruit out of Washington, DC. He attended Gonzaga High School, where OU commit Caleb Williams currently plays. With offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, and other top schools, it seemed like his recruitment would drag out closer to signing day. However, summer 2018 saw good news come Oklahoma’s way, as Weté committed to the Sooners.

Career so Far

Weté played in one game early in the 2019 season against South Dakota.

Highlights

2020 Season

Joseph Weté is set to compete for playing time at the Rush spot. Jon-Michael Terry started at the position for the first half of 2019 before an injury; Nik Bonitto started the remainder of the season. Both JMT and Bonitto are back in 2020; David Ugwoegbu is going to vye for playing time at Rush as well. The position will be absolutely loaded with talent this season, as all four players would be great options. It will be tough for Weté to earn the starting job this year with the returning starters in the mix, but look for him to earn playing time and set himself up for a good career in Norman.
