The Path to Norman

Jake McCoy played high school football just up the road from Norman. Hailing from Edmond North, McCoy walked on with the Sooners in 2019 as a linebacker.

Career so Far

McCoy took a redshirt season in 2019 and did not play. In 2020, he played in the team’s final seven games, mostly on special teams, and earned Academic All-Big 12 Second Team honors.

This Season

The linebacker room is possibly the deepest it has been since Coach Riley took over in Norman. With David Ugwoegbu and Caleb Kelly at MLB and Brian Asamoah and DaShaun White at WLB, there is a high amount of talent and experience in the LB group, but also a lot of upperclassmen. McCoy will keep pushing this season to set himself up for more playing time in the future.
