The Path to Norman

Career so Far

Schmit took a redshirt season in 2020, but saw action in two games. He kicked off once in each of those two games.

In 2021, Schmit was backup to Gabe Brkic in Brkic’s final season. Schmit played in four games, making one field goal and four PATs to go along with a few kickoffs. Schmit also earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team honors for the year.

This Season

The departure of Brkic opens the door for competition at the kicker spot. Schmit is the likely starter, but freshman Gavin Marshall will certainly be battling for the spot. If he can secure the role, Schmit could be looking at a long career as the OU kicker with several season left in Norman.
