100 Days to Football Time in Oklahoma: #3 Mikey Henderson

The Path to Norman

Mikey Henderson came to OU out of Carrollton, Texas. He was quite the swiss army knife in high school; he played quarterback, running back, halfback, and linebacker, and was viewed as a player with a lot of options in college. Oklahoma was his first college offer back in the spring of 2018. After that, programs like Florida, Alabama, Oregon, and Texas all wanted the young man at their program. Although his recruitment was open for another year after that OU offer, the Sooners landed his commitment. TFB got to know Mikey shortly after his OU offer, which you can find here: Spotlight: Mikey Henderson.

Highlights

2020 Season

Henderson started at OU as an H-back, and still may play there, but practiced at running back this summer. At H-back, Jeremiah Hall and Brayden Willis – two very experienced upperclassmen – will be sharing the spotlight. The running back spot has a lot of options, but has undergone several changes. Rhamonde Stevenson (currently suspended), T.J. Pledger, Marcus Major, and Seth McGowan will all be competing for playing time. Pledger is set to be the day one starter, with Stevenson earning plenty of snaps when he is available and Major and McGowan certainly set to factor in. Henderson is absolutely talented enough to contribute at either spot; with ‘free’ eligibility this season, Coach Riley will want to evaluate everyone he can. Sooner fans will be excited to see Henderson’s size and strength on display this fall.
