100 Days to Football Time in Oklahoma: #3 Jamal Morris

The Path to Norman

Jamal Morris comes to OU out of Richmond, Texas. With offers from a host of top programs, including Michigan, Texas, LSU, and Georgia, Morris had plenty of options for his college career. He’s a big, aggressive defender with experience all over the secondary. On the weekend of the 2018 spring game, Coach Riley sent out seven sets of Twitter eyes. Morris accounted for one of those sets as he announced his commitment.

Career so Far

Morris played in one game in his first year on campus, seeing action against South Dakota, and using his redshirt season.

In his second year, Morris transitioned from safety to inside linebacker. He played in almost every game of the year, seeing time both at linebacker and on special teams.

Highlights

This Season

The inside linebacker position in 2021 will be OU’s deepest in many years. David Ugwoegbu and Brian Asamoah are expected to start, with Caleb Kelly and DaShaun White right behind them. That’s without mentioning the extremely talented young backers like Danny Stutsman and Shane Whitter waiting to play. Morris is going to have to push hard for playing time at one of Oklahoma’s strongest positions on the field.
