The Path to Norman
Gavin Sawchuck, a Colorado product, was one of the highest-ranked backs in the 2022 class. He started picking up offers three years before his signing day, with teams including Michigan, Washington, Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, and many more eventually vying for the back’s attention. Coach Murray worked hard to land Sawchuck and was rewarded for his hard work with a commitment.

Highlights
This Season
The running back room has plenty of players vying for snaps, but not a lot of certainty. Eric Gray is almost certainly the day one starter, but after him a scholarship group including Jovantae Barnes, Marcus Major, and Sawchuck will all be pushing for playing time. Then, walk-on backs Tawee Walker, Todd Hudson, and Jaden Knowles will also be fighitng to play. Despite 2022 being his first season in Norman, Sawchuck will certainly have the chance to play early for the Sooners.
