100 Days to Football Time in Oklahoma: #24 Marcus Major

The Path to Norman

Marcus Major, an Oklahoma City product, was a highly-ranked recruit in the 2019 class. He ended up with offers from plenty of top programs, but Oklahoma ultimately won out his commitment.

Career so Far

In 2019, Major played in three games; two of them were conference matchups. Unfortunately, he was injured in October and missed the remainder of the season, using it as his redshirt year.

Highlights

2020 Season

2020 could be a big year for Major. Kennedy Brooks will be the unquestioned leader of the running back group, with the experience and talent to be the feature back. Rhamondre Stevenson, possible suspension aside, will be right there with him, earning plenty of carries. After that, the next man in line is up for grabs. T.J. Pledger, Marcus Major, Seth McGowan, and Michael Henderson will all be vying for playing time. Both McGowan and Henderson, as true freshman, have a redshirt year available; the staff may choose to go that route with experienced guys like Brooks and Stevenson on the field. Major will have an excellent chance to earn good playing time this year.

Beyond that, Stevenson is a senior and Brooks, as a redshirt junior, could jump to the NFL if he has a big year. That next group will be the backs next year, and Major can set himself up to be a feature guy for the Sooners
